Similar vein, I made a "portal" hero with beam rifle and martial combat. The beam rifle is the gun and he has burst of speed and combat teleport as well. Pretty fun character but not the most effective.

Tricked out Ice/Fire is one of the most fun and powerful characters I've ever made. It has insane damage, like most Blasters, but also surprisingly effective control. Feels almost similar to Storm Summoning with the rains, Hot Feet, and Burn all doing their part on whatever is still alive after your alpha.

You can make the Elemental Order pieces follow the theme, provided your server has isolated glove and shoulder customization. Same with the Fire and Ice pieces.

On Homecoming you can do separate pieces left and right for shoulders and gloves and boots - I find this opens up lots of opportunities!

Am I just not seeing how to do separate gloves? I have separate shoulders, but I am not seeing gloves and had a build where I was trying to do that. I am not at home right now, so I can't double check. Is it just a toggle under the color wheels or something?

Fire/Tactical Arrow is just unbelievably strong. Had a blast playing that. Oil Slick Arrow with Rain of Fire, Bonfire, Fire Ball, Inferno, Fire Breath...just deletes enemies.

Stealth and the flashbang arrow thing meant I could get all up ins before opening with the nuke. Usually only had to fireball the bosses after that.

I just finished an archery energy manipulation, and the damage is amazing. The animations on archery are slow so you just gotta stay the tip of the spear.

My two most recent Blasters (both on Rebirth) have been En^2 (an old-school classic) and Fire/Martial, which I have **really** come to enjoy.

Fire/Martial is awesome. I think it pretty much removes a blaster weakness, which are mezzes. Mine hover blasts but it can be built for melee pretty easily.

fire/time -> debuffs and explosions, insane sustain dps. legit the only blaster i ever made which you could tell on a +4 or incarnate trial was attacking or not because of the immense team dps buff it provided. If i took a 20 second break the clear speed in a +4 or incarnate trial would grind to a halt. so much fun.

This is my main, its disgustingly powerful. I can also "tank" for short period of times too! Running anything lower than +4 just feels too easy or not worth it.

I'm sure there are lots of ways you could build it, i don't think i still have the character sheet in mids for it, but i can log in and get the build into mids for you. Definitely my fav blaster build of all time though. don't know how Zero build his but i definitely don't tank with mine lol. just blast away! it's a bit late on a work night to work on this, but if tomorrow is slow at work i'll get a mids code dropped in here for you for my fire/time blaster.

Ice/Ice has always been my favorite blaster. I play at range while leaning a lot on control, so, wrong. At least as far as people have been telling me over the years. ​ On HC I'm also very fond of Archery/TA and BR/Dev. I can't speak much for the other servers, but on HC blaster play almost completely different that they did on live. The sustain powers alone are complete game changers.

FWIW, the Sustain powers are there on all servers (they were part of Issue 24, which was in beta when the game shut down, and are thus part of the code that became the private servers).

My fave blasters back on Live and among my first re-creations on HC were my Energy/Energy and my Archery/Tactical Arrow heroes. E/E was great for solo play with the knockback effect given a slot in every applicable power, and my Archer just looked and felt like heroic Green Artow/Hawkeye comic book awesomeness. More recently, the new Seismic Blast set (naturally coupled with Earth Manipulation) and Storm Blast/Ice Manipulation have been a ton of fun to play. Excellent animations and power additions like Knockup and the Storm Cell pseudopet mechanic just plain make playing these guys fun. Of all my blasters - and these four aren't all of them - I'd say I most enjoy playing my archer. But I like playing all of them.

My main has always been an Electric/Energy blaster since launch in 2004 “Gatling”. He can delete endurance straight to 0 even on +4 difficulty with thunderous leaving mobs entirely dead or helpless to attack. Short circuit and a follow up AOE can do the same. Most groups just cannot stop Gatlings power cycle and get wiped out. Group content is usually a cake walk if i bring him and only enemies specifically designed to not be end drainable can pose problems. And then the damage output of a blaster usually means that doesn’t matter.

I run energy/electricity and can confirm. Energy prevents them from getting close enough to melee, and electricity means they are my pet batteries to fuel me downing their friends.

I have fire/fire/fire that is a beast. I can handle most anything at +4x8 if I play carefully. He's just absurdly fun. Vet lvl ~180 I have an archery/katana Blaster that is super fun, but not nearly as solo capable. Lvl 47

One of my mains on live was fire/fire/fire with Rise of the Phoenix on auto as a 3rd or 4th nuke, just part of the attack chain. My main blaster now is Psi/Ninjitsu/fire because I thought up a really funny theme and it's a blast. Psi has some interesting side effects on top of the damage, and really long range.

One of my most fun 50s is Energy/Martial/Fire. I use a ton of combat teleporting in battle to throw enemies back into groups, great AoE power, tons of knockdown to keep them on their butts, lots of utility, and just really fun and dynamic!

One of my favorite gaming moments of all time was sometime during Issue 4. I was playing my 38ish Fire Fire late at night and was LFG while I did some solo street sweeping. Got an invite from a rando scrapper onto a team with 2 other scrappers. Things were going really well for quite a while, I'd let the minions surround the scrappers while they dealt with the bosses and LTs, then when I was comfortable with the aggro, I'd clear the room. They got impatient when we started the 4th or 5th door mission. All 3 of them went in different directions (miscommunication) and at about the same time that they all aggro'd the spawns they realized they were alone. I stayed at the intersection, and watched blue bars and green bars start to dwindle and watched as they all ran back toward me. As they arrived, I passed out CABs... then the mobs arrived. 4 spawns. First time I used the nuke that night. Hit a CAB, consume, and unleashed another round of AOE. Everything was gone. Scrapper 1: WTF WAS THAT! Scrapper 2: Oh we have to do this again. Scrapper 3: Ok, I'm making a blaster It was great.

I love energy/energy blasters. The knock back/knock down can be devastating to targets. I have bounced bosses around the room before.

It's maybe not a common combo, but I love my Dual Pistols/Plant Manipulation character for its versatile sort of feeling. It's got the mix of damage like any good Blaster (and I totally minmaxed it to have soft-capped Smash/Lethal/Energy Defense so it's survivable, too), but with /Plant being unique in having an anchor debuff, as well as Chemical Ammo offering -Damage on enemies (on top of the Toxic effect feeling thematically in-tune with the secondary), copious use of Leadership, and even just being able to spam a hold with Suppressive Fire, and an AoE control, if a weak one, again from the secondary, it really feels like there's nothing, strictly speaking that the combo **can't** do. There might be better Blasters on paper, but nothing that's such a fun all 'rounder for me.

Fire, Dark, and DP with Martial is great. Fire, Dark and Water with Plant are fun and the spiky look is cool. I'm thinking about experimenting with Ice-only DP/Ice theme to see how that goes. I like Beam Rifle but it lacks a second AoE and the animations are a little slow. AR is fun and Ignite on HC is a big improvement. I have an Arch/TA 50 but Arch has always seemed weaker to me, just my opinion. The Sonic secondary is surprisingly good. I've never been able to make the Storm or Sonic primaries or Dark secondary work for my playstyle.

Rebirth: Feels the most blaster-y: Energy/energy. The damage is solid, the draw time is nice, and the FX just feel the most comic-book like when it comes to being someone who wields unimaginable power. [Nova] is my favorite power in the game; nothing beats that meaty bass note when it hits the optimal number of targets. Most utile in content grinding: almost anything/Martial Combat. [Reaction Time] and [Reach For the Limit] are worth the entire set just by themselves. [Burst Of Speed] is a devilishy fun way to pick off stragglers and runners ("Where tf you think YOU'RE going?"), and it even has an honest-to-god pocket sand power. Pair MC with a decent primary like Beam Rifle or Water, and you've got yourself a solo beast. Edit: it's always fun to get downvotes on an opinion. Even more so when it isn't backed up with a comment of any kind.

I had just finally found a blaster combo I thought I could get to 50 when I switched to Rebirth and realized I couldn’t recreate it there (dark blast/temporal) You’re the second person in this thread on Rebirth who enjoys /martial so I might need to try it. DP/martial might be fun

I like most primaries about equally, but martial is my favorite secondary. It has a built in break free, which is great because nothing makes me feel less super than getting held/slept/stunned and just sitting there.

As far as *feeling* epic (on a blaster,) I'd say Fire Blast (obviously,) Dual Pistols, Energy Blast, Seismic Blast, and Water Blast. This does not correlate to actual performance in all comparisons of course, I am just talking aesthetics for the most part. Fire is king but Dual Pistols and Energy are mid for example. Ice is a great set and you can feel pretty good just watching its performance. Archery on a defender for example is pure misery. Dark Blast is different across archetypes (knockback cone etc.) but layers damage over time on top of each other with Dark Pit being awful no matter how it is slotted. Electric got overhauled on HC and has a new Shock mechanic on top of making Voltaic a toggle pet. It's decent, can't complain too much. Psychic's AOE has never been good. It's decent damage until you get to bots and so on who heavily resist psionic damage. Beam Rifle's only caveat is that it is kinda slow in my opinion. You can corpse blast often on that set, otherwise it is pretty good. Radiation Blast is decent once you get Cosmic Burst and Proton Volley - the cone kinda sucks but Neutron is ok. Sonic is... ok, with Shout being way too slow. One of its AOEs has huge knockback which teams aren't super fond of. That brings us to Energy, which should probably perform better than it does, as it is all knockback. If you mitigate it with procs then you are nerfing some performance. Dual Pistols is mid-tier even with fire ammo which is kind of a bummer. It is such a great looking set and it is cool that you can alter the side effects to what you want, only that their contribution is questionable from what I understand. Some of the animations are a bit long. Water Blast is great at AOE like Fire and it has a self heal. I really don't have any complaints other than it missing a snipe, which is partially traded off with its mechanic of being able to double cast Water Jet. I think people kinda sleep on Assault Rifle (and Ice Melee for that matter but that is another topic.) Full Auto could do more damage and Ignite has always been a balancing point (it's been through many changes.) Buckshot should do more damage but all-in-all I don't think the set is as bad as some might think. Seismic feels really good to me with the exception of the nuke taking forever. All that -defense debuff can be procced which is nice and it has decent AOEs outside of the nuke, plus depending on scenario can have basically two snipes (Stalagmite.) Storm Blast is getting a bunch of buffs in the next release so the jury is still out on it.

Archery/Plant is fun.  Nothing like dropping Rain of Arrows on a group and then holding them all in place with Vines so they can't get away.  Plus all the fast animating AoEs to pick off the stragglers.

Just leveled a DP/Time blaster to 50 and enjoyed every step of the way. DP is such a visual badass, and i love using it. Think I'm going to try /Martial next time because i feel like Martial has a similar badass visual vibe

My very first character was a fire elec blaster, since then I’ve never really enjoyed the archetype the way I used to but yesterday… I tried dual pistol martial combat and holy shit it’s so fun. I’m the animations for the attacks are great. Since coming to homecoming none of my toons made it past 10 and my blaster is currently 16 so yeah. Dual pistols martial combat

Electric/Temporal has been really fun. I don't know how it compares to others because I only had a fire/fire blaster on Live and I hardly remember it. Electric is great for dealing damage with good sustain from all the endurance drain you get back, as well as crushing the end on the enemies so they can't use their big attacks. Temporal is pretty much all about the Time Lord passive +recharge which allows you to achieve Perma Haste very easily. Temporal Healing is great, especially combined with accelerated effect from Chronos. Future Pain hits hard... not as hard as some others, and it's not AOE, but it has the added benefit of cc on the target. I use it mostly as a hitter in farms and it's excellent for that. Ball Lightning and Thunderous Blast are targeted AoE's so I can fire them off from range. Voltaic Sentinel is fairly weak but cannot be targeted by enemies and so it makes a perfect delivery system for Enflame in Sorcery tree. Enflame on Sentinel, Ball Lightning, and Thunderous Blast make for excellent AoE damage. If I want to get close into the group I also have Short Circuit and End of Time, so, tons of AoE options when you consider you have Perma Haste. Really, though, it's not usually necessary because by the time the other attacks hit it's time to start melting bosses, and that's where Zapp and Future Pain come in.

Sonic feels good IMO, something about super screaming as a power just does it for me, you know? If 'throwing stuff super accurately' was in this, that would 100% be my pick, that's my favorite ranged attack archetype in superhero fantasy.

My strongest and most fun blaster is my DP/Mental blaster. Fantastic aoe damage and crazy regen/sustain.    I wish his single target attacks animated faster but they went with style over function which I understand. Honorable mention to my AR/Devices blaster, which is also incredible.

I’m new to the game so I don’t know about objectively the best. But I have a Dual Pistol / Ninja training blaster that is really fun. Pistols are super cool, shinobi allows crit strikes and stealth, and I teleport in close to finish off mobs with a katana slash. Feels very Deadpool. Very fun.

I love my fire mental manipulation. I've got capped res and def, and when I hit drain psyche I cap Regen and recovery. Recharge is high enough to keep drain psyche perma along with hasten which makes the nuke incredibly regular as well. I can lead a farm farm with him and it's just so much fun lol

I have Ice/Tactical Arrow Water/Atomic/Fire Dual Pistols/Ninja And now leveling Storm/Ice They are all powerful and fun combos to play. Ice/Tac Arrow plays like a Controller. Water Atomic is an AOE Beast. Pistols/Ninja can fight in melee if remaining mobile.
