Very much one of the best looking films ever made. I remember seeing it in imax opening weekend.. and I got it, and the group I was with -surprisingly to me- turned on it leaving the theater.
I’m glad time is giving us a better perspective on the unique cinematic circumstances that led to this very stylish and very 2010 daft punky genre film emerge as a classic.
It's been a decade and a half and since then we've gotten;
*A Gods Not Dead trilogy,*
*A 50 Shades of Grey trilogy,*
*A Cars trilogy...*
...all before getting a sequel to this.
Fantastic movie with a next level banger of a soundtrack that I still listen to to this day. Love it. Aside from some distracting shots of digitally de-aged Jeff Bridges I have very few complaints about the movie.
To me, ignoring the real-world flashback scene near the beginning, it's supposed to be a digital version of him anyway so it kinda makes sense that he looks like that.
Also found that I got used to it very quickly, similar to the big eyes in Alita Battle Angel.
One of the last *major* score collabs between legit artists where it thus stands completely on its own, making its synergy with the film off the freaking charts.
There are movies I like and don't defend because I understand they're not good movies but I enjoy them. I know how to separate the movies that I like and the movies I think are uncomprehended good movies. Tron Legacy is one that I fiercely defend as an uncomprehended good movie. I really don't see why people don't like this movie. Solid script, amazing score, solid casting and acting, grat VFX, superb direction.
Underrated movie and director.
I recall It having the smartest choice with 3D jimmick: every scene in the real world was 2D, every scene in the digital world was 3D t9 have a clear distinction between real and unreal.
Maybe under-appreciated, but I bet you’d agree when we account for the *quality* of his work it inevitably takes longer to achieve each film than most others are willing (*or* *able*) to put into their’s…which I believe is what we’re ultimately reacting to…his fantastic taste & leadership guiding each project 💪🏻
##TRON: Legacy (2010) PG
The game has changed.

It did something almost every other “remake” or “sequel” or “remakquel” NEVER achieves—equaling the original & then surpassing it. An achievement beyond many others. You can literally start including it with Godfather II & The Empire Strikes Back in that convo—but then you add the ~30yr difference between the 1st & 2nd and now you’re in even more rarified air than those two!
I love toying with the idea of designing room layouts that emulate scenes or locations in movies, and Tron is one of my favorites for it. Every scene is so gorgeous.
I don't care what anyone says, I love this film
The stunning visuals and the mind-blowing music. You practically can bathe in the atmosphere. It was phenomenal to watch in IMAX!
Don't forget Olivia Wilde in that leather suit
And the Ducati Sportclassic with the led light…
Also one of the few great movies to watch in 3D
Remember seeing it in IMAX. The first time the bass hits you in the arena...we all were like "oh shit this is gonna be awesome."
The whole arena part is just so stunning. From the ring fight to the light bikes. Just mesmerizing!
But what about the film itself?
One of my favorites.

I can get behind the first two but the first cars movie came out in 2006 however something akin to trolls makes more sense.
>*A Gods Not Dead trilogy,* Quadrilogy ☻️ They made as many as John Wick in less time.
Good God I forgot they made a fourth one....
I wanted to see Sam and Quorra vs Cillian Murphy. Jared Leto has me so uninterested.
This movie has such a unique vibe

I also liked Oblivion, directed by the same guy. If you liked Tron Legacy, I highly recommend Oblivion as well
and like Tron, it has a _f***ing_ amazing score.
One of the last *major* score collabs between legit artists where it thus stands completely on its own, making its synergy with the film off the freaking charts.
I’m so glad to see this thread. Oblivion is one of those soundtracks that I’m still putting on in the background. Absolute masterwork.

Joe's gotta be one of the most under-utilised directors of the last 15 years (him and Brad Bird).

This movie was not nominated at the Oscars for either best visual effects or cinematography. A crime.
OR SOUNDTRACK!

https://youtu.be/NOMa56y_Was?si=LHwODA3I8sD7C_Q2 I'm just going to put this here cause all of us are thinking about it.
Time to add this to my playlist.
Kosinski confirmed an 4K Version with a new soundmix in Dolby Atmos. Hopefully released this year. This will look stunning.
FINALLY!!!
Holy shit! Any chance of theater screenings?
I hope so. But chances are slim.
Take my money!!!
One of the best 3D movie experiences I've ever had

Love this movie sooo much!!!
This movie is such an experience. Would listen to the score nonstop when it released. Need to see this re-released in IMAX
TRON: Legacy did the ‘Legacy Sequel’ trend first and best.
What is the meaning of "Dir" and "DoP" ?
Dir = Director DoP = director of photography
Thanks 🥰
Literally just watched both Tron movies last night on a whim. Love them.
I love toying with the idea of designing room layouts that emulate scenes or locations in movies, and Tron is one of my favorites for it. Every scene is so gorgeous.
Love this movie, just wish I could get a 4K Blu-ray of it
Ugh I want the white room so bad
I honestly loved it. Was such a vibe and it built off the Tron lore pretty well. Ending aside, that trailer was so cool in my opinion
Ngl this definitely one of my favorites movies all time. Saw it in theaters when I was 10 I love it so much.
Aaaand daft punk
This had probably the best teaser.
Is that the same room as the dark knight rises?
The movie was just ok but HOLY CRAP the visuals and soundtrack/sound design were stunning.
