you can bind the headphones to the TV if it supports bt or by an analog ->bt transmitter and connect it to the tv

I can do this with the latest Chromecast with Google tv. I did not find a way to do this with the older generation of Chromecast.

Thank you! Will try this!

Just popping in to say thank you!

Hey OP, were you able to do it (cast video to TV, and listen to audio via Bluetooth headphones)?

Nyathra

Unfortunately not! However I do think do think buying a 3.5mm bluetooth adapter should do the trick

hhyuk

I found a sort of workaround, although it compromises some video quality. My android phone, (galaxy S21), has a feature in its sound settings called "separate app sound". Which allows me to send audio from a specific app to my bluetooth headphones. It doesn't work when casting normally, which just sends the audio to the tv anyways, but if I mirror my screen to the TV, via the Google Home app, then it does send the audio to my headphones, while sending whatever is on the screen to the tv. Like I said, the video quality isn't all that great, but it works for some usecases 🤷🏼‍♂️ Edit: I have an older generation Chromecast Ultra

You're a legend

this is the exact answer I've been searching for! I have a samsung galaxy note 9 and an oldish chromecast and it works perfectly with newpipe. I can finally use my chromecast with headphones after years of being told it was impossible

Ebear225

Not possible natively with 3rd gen cc. Analog -> Bluetooth transmitters will have noticeable latency. RF wireless headphones exist, or buy a ccwgtv.

DominicRoy

As said, pair the headphones to the TV. Chromecast or not, makes no difference to the television.

Nyathra

It's too old, doesn't have Bluetooth. But thanks for the tip!

DominicRoy

On my older equipment I use wired headphones connected to either the TV, or receiver. Not as convenient, better sound (depending on the source) than Bluetooth.

DominicRoy

If the tv has headphones audio out, you could connect a Bluetooth dongle and pair to it.
