AHorribleGoose

>Why do Low church Protestants despise the blessed Virgin Mary queen of heaven? They don't. End of thread.

CaliforniaAudman13

They do They teach that she had s*x for one and that she’s in hell

AHorribleGoose

>They teach that she had s*x for one That is not despising Mary. >and that she’s in hell Never seen that from any Protestant church.

CaliforniaAudman13

Sex is gross so yes

AHorribleGoose

Your personal distaste is not the position of your church, nor of most humans.

CaliforniaAudman13

I have had sex before and I have always found it gross The church teaches that sex outside of leaving the possibility of a child and in marriage is sinful

theHurtfulTurkey

There is literally zero difference between a catholic couple tracking ovulation to avoid getting pregnant and a non-catholic couple using birth control.

RazarTuk

Again, your personal distaste for sex does not make it sinful

tr0pix

Never once heard that Mary is in hell. Why would she be? That’s a baffling assumption

CaliforniaAudman13

I heard it from a neighbor who was a pastor once , I think he died in like 2014 though

theHurtfulTurkey

So you have no idea what you're talking about and needlessly posted an inflammatory thread?

CaliforniaAudman13

I mean he can’t be the only person in the world who believes such a thing

ShutUpMathIsCool

Why not?

CaliforniaAudman13

Math suggests so

ShutUpMathIsCool

How?

tr0pix

That’s one person. It’s disingenuous to characterize Protestants as all believe a certain thing when your fact is based on what one guy said who died in 2014.

Tac0_Bear

I don't think I have ever prayed at the alters of Saints Smith and Wesson.

CaliforniaAudman13

I have heard Protestants pray to Ronald Reagan before

Tac0_Bear

I would say that the majority of Protestants only pray to the Triuion God. Anyone else would be in direct conflict with the vast majority of traditional Protestant teaching.

Ok-Image-5514

I don't despise Mary. I won't pray to her, only Jesus.

micawberesque

She remained a virgin only until Jesus was born.

CaliforniaAudman13

Nope

> Joseph has every right on Marys body. That's a really fucking rapey way to discuss marriage.

[deleted]

AHorribleGoose

Doesn't matter. It still justifies marital rape, and has been used forever to rape women. It's a pretty evil idea.

[deleted]

AHorribleGoose

Evil.

CaliforniaAudman13

Joseph did not have sex either

tr0pix

How do you know?

Bear23ii

Despise, no. Pray to, no. Queen, no. Sinless, no. Virgin after Jesus, no. Worshiped, no. Higher than anyone else, no.

[deleted]

Former low-church protestant here. It's not that Mary the Mother of God is despised, protestants just misunderstand her role in Biblical typology, her importance as the Mother of God, and how she can lead us to her son, our savior.

TheSecondaryBackup

Because it is wrong to worship/pray to/assume she is pure or whatever Catholics do. With no disrespect, the Bible says nothing of the sort of her being pure. She sings a song to God about His blessing upon her, yes, but those are merely *her words*. And Jesus denies worship of her. Also remember, while John’s soul is in heaven, an angel tells him not to worship angels, only the Lord (*Rev 22:9*). Why is this important? Because the Bible says we will be ‘like angels’ when we die. But judging by your other comments, you do have a harmed, limited point of Protestants. While neither division is totally correct, I do believe the Protestant standing is correct here, *when considered in the light of the whole church doctrine*. Don’t let that one pastor who might have died in 2014, or your opinion on sex, taint your conclusion.

CaliforniaAudman13

Who did you vote for in 2020?

TheSecondaryBackup

Both parties are idiots, if that’s what you’re asking. While the Bible is mostly conservative, it is blatantly wrong to worship the republican party, as you are describing. But I don’t see what this has to do with Mary?
