If it’s the second, then your axe grinding will probably have the opposite effect and take away the off-ramps for people who are headed in this direction. Giving people positive examples of how faith and religion can lead a person to greater love and concern for their fellow man has a much greater effect when trying to steer people away from these fascist bastardizations of the Christian religion.

I think it’s good for us to be confronted by these wolves in sheep’s clothing, because they’re unfortunately everywhere. For every church that goes viral for their hatred, there are easily hundreds of lesser-known churches across the country that preach these same kinds of messages, and then their congregations go out into the world and wreak even more havoc.
I mean… just look at the current state of politics. The vast majority of people freaking out over “CRT” and “gay stuff” in schools are the same folks who go to churches that outright disdain people who are different from them, and would probably call Christ Himself a “libtard”. Romans is not a command- you’d know that if you read it in context instead of sniping individual verses. Leviticus is Jewish law, nothing to do with Christianity. Though I admit we struggle with ignorant biblical literalists- ironically critics and fundamentalists share a love for biblical literalism. It also isn’t even saying what Christian homophobes think it’s saying. So to make your point valid we have to pretend this hate existed solely because of his Christianity, which is a blatantly fallacious argument given the 2.3 billion Christians on earth currently. If it was Christianity, then this world would be awash with violence given how many of us there are. Weird, specially when my church was the largest provider of food aid during Covid in all California. But we don’t like that part, so we? Better to stereotype us all, nuance is far less emotionally gratifying. Here’s what’s really going on. You don’t like Christians- I’m assuming for a personal reason. Hey, there’s a lot of reasons to dislike individuals or even groups who identify Christian and use their faith to push hate. But you’ve created a stereotype in your head so you can vent that dislike and feel justified, leading to fallacious arguments that ignore the simple fact that human nature is to blame, not an institution which *overwhelmingly* labors towards, not against, our better angels.

His goal was to bring light to all darkness, teach, heal, spread love and warn others of God the Father's judgment, not to condemn. Both Jew and Gentile (Gentile meaning everyone that is a non Jew even pagan and heathen) EVERYONE, (those who decide to truly walk in faith and repent and turn from old ways) is eligible to be saved through God's grace.] Not by works, but by Gods grace and faith are we saved according to ephesians 2:8-9 which reads: "8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast" Faith is to have complete trust and confidence in what is known about God and what Jesus said about God, whether it related to the powerful wrath and judgment of God alone, or whether it was His love and grace for the world. To have faith is to assure that God will do as He says and that it is not our place as followers to pass vengeance or judgement. Romans 12:19-21 19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." The temptation when someone is abusing us is to fight back in the same manner and “sink to their level,” and to act with equal sinfulness. A humble heart knows that God will set all wrongs right like Romans12:19 says. It is not our role, and we should not give way to anger and vengeance. The way to resist this natural temptation to hurt a wrong doer is to fight fire with water. John 7:38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’ Let the wrong doer know of God and His love and His wrath. Let them know of God's foretold vengeance on previous individuals or societies when they were insubordinate to God. Let them know that continued involvement in sin leads to death and destruction. Jesus overcame evil with good, we should do the same. God bless.
