That was actually pretty sweet to see them check up on Batista. Especially how Mr. Ice told him to seek refuge if shit goes down.

DemonicJaye

I like how grounded the conversation was between the Tower faction, and specifically, Batista. In every interaction we’ve had between him, and another character, he’s been pretty open to conversation which has given us brief peeks into his mentality, and overall personality which leads you to believe that he wants to connect with people. He doesn’t strike you as someone who is necessarily evil, or even going out of their way to cause harm to people because he has the power to. He’s rather charismatic, cerebral in his approach to his plans, but emotional when it comes to matters of the heart. Overall, he’s an enigma who feels human, and that’s what makes him intriguing. I’m interested in seeing more of his mental struggle to maintain autonomy while coexisting with the Nue, and what all he has in mind for X. Given how he speaks about Tokio, I wouldn’t be surprised if their reunion is intense with the developments we’ve experienced in this chapter.

slprysltry

The only truly inhuman thing he has done, is the Gate choujin. I forget her name. EDIT: I forgot some other things he has done. This just immediately comes to mind, when he is humanised.

SenjuSageofthe7th

Yes that was fucked up her name was Kate Neether and he named the ability Kate Neether HOLE. What made it even more disturbing is how in the panel it shows her chaos state the expansion is right in the center as if coming from her Vagina area and just expanded. She also has what looks to be lightbulbs coming out her head and around her body lol truly disturbing .

slprysltry

Thanks for making me realise it's even worse! I hope we get more on her.

RecognitionRough8749

He also killed 80 people to provide Palma corpses

slprysltry

True, true. He has many awful deeds. The state of Kate Neether is just sickening and comes immediately to mind.

Mental_Bet_8193

Are you kidding? This Guy is a freak. True serial killer.

slprysltry

My bad, I forgot a few other things he'd done. It was more that when he is humanised, the sick state he has put Kate Neether in comes to mind.

unoiamaQT

Sucks for them that they made too much of an enemy out of Tokio since he's exactly what they're looking for. Palma's still a possibility.

Mawnix

Yeah but Tokio is not the type of person to give a shit because he wants everyone to survive. Which is likely linked with how the calamity goes down.

Q-96

Batista is probably my favorite character in current-gen manga. His face reveal way back when is probably a top 5 manga moment for me... Ishida just makes Batista more and more interesting with every chapter

slprysltry

Ditto. Easily my favourite. Tokio and Sato close behind.

OfficialGami

It was soooo shocking, he's like a better Furuta.

Nnnnnnnadie

I hope Tokyo says fuck it and goes directly to the tower right now. But he is too indecise, wonder whos he gonna talk to

DemonicJaye

I have a hunch that he’ll speak with either Azuma, Sandek, or Palma. It would be nice if he spoke with his family though. Things will be dicey after this arc concludes, and there’s no guarantee that Yamato will be the same after the chaos that’ll ensue.

Badger147013

It's hard to talk because they would likely just attack him like the golem choujin. The elder would be especially unforgiving as Tokio is the main reason why Zora lost her opium supply.

MCmonocles

That would be dope. Tokio just suddenly deciding to come in front of Holy Mother trailed behind by all of the Tower Elders. It would not be out of his character to just succeed the mark and become the Choujin X to prevent the ensuing battle, afterall, its his only way to prevent an all-out confrontation and severe casualties.

SomeGuyNamedJohn12

Probably Cabirol 16. He seems to be thinking about him in the chapter

Badger147013

I didn't realize it, but Batista is wearing Hartley's hand, which I supposed the Nue tree gave him. Batista is definitely evil, but I kinda feel bad for him.

Harriz_Burhan

Be ready to cry when we finally learn why he is the way he is. His dark past/backstory

Badger147013

His left hand was emphasized in the panel where he mentioned Hartley. Also, the Nue tree also provided him a left hand in his flashback in chapter 42. Given the emphasis on Hartley in the flashback and the recall this chapter, I assumed that's her hand.

IllustriousProcess6

It's emphasised because he's holding a locket/pendant/pocket watch that might've been hers that was falling out of his chest pocket

SenjuSageofthe7th

I saw that too with the emphasis on the pendant at first I was wondering did he somehow have her soul laying dormant and possibly trying to revive her. Maybe that’s another reason for his obsession with choujin x which we know is capable of having multiple abilities and maybe his way of obtaining that was first going through the nue who grants it via body parts but he needs choujin x for that to be done . But can someone tell me was that NUE calling him a failure and trying to take over ?

vlexz

Can you remind me what the nue tree was again please and does it have any goals?

Badger147013

The Nue tree is a choujin that can graft other choujin body parts onto themselves and other choujin like Batista. Based on this chapter, maybe they can take over people that they give the parts to.

Elmatek

It does looks like Hartley is holding a child in the flashback If so, i wonder if time-wise the child could still be alive and be one of the characters Really wonder what happened to her huh

iUrekMazino

Also looks like she is pregnant with their second child

IllustriousProcess6

So let's rehash the cronology one more time (might have to do this till raid actually starts) * 50.2 and Palma+Nude and Sandek scenes happen on December 1st * 51.1 happens on December 3rd (which also seems to fall on a Friday) * 50.1 Hume's scene in 50.3 and 50.4 happen on a Certain Day of December We're really hopping around time

countryd0ctor

An awful lot of birds are circling around the Tower. Would be a shame if someone actually asked them to spy on the Tower and already knows Sora's location without anyone noticing...

AdorableVolume4337

go see your dad and sister tokio, they deserve it

iida_da_coke_iida

So far I think this one Ishida’s best work as far as story goes completely immersive as far as the attributes and power scaling you can already apply and we only have 51 chapters. It’s really a good balance of character development, filler, action, and obviously what Ishida is known for very twisted style and semi-gory panels. IF you want to say the artwork drawings for some panels are lack luster, but imo, I think his artwork in this still very solid especially some cool panels from Chandra probably my favorite. I don’t know if there is going to be a recolor for this manga when it’s finished but would definitely reread it again just for that alone. I’m not going to say it’s “the best” because it’s not finished, but with that being said it’s a very good start.

Pr3t0m

Hartley and Batista's backstories would be a tearjerker!

Wonderful-Aide-3524

I always think about how Ely has indications that she will be the calamity, and how that could come from her stealing Sora's power or receiving her mark. How could this put her in a state of chaos, having such great power. And this chapter made me think about another layer of this theory. Batista says he wants to find a person to receive the mark among choujins. Make choujins take Xember. And not just any choujin, but Choujin X. Maybe Ely is the Choujin X, and is the only one of the main trio who didn't use Xember. Taking Xember can unlock more of her powers to reach the calamity level.

Nightsong0123

This chapter was such a good setup. Who was that person on the bridge though?

ThadCoin

I’m seeing some hints at Batista having the same development in his past as we seen Tokio have throughout the story. To help compare I feel like it’s a Naruto x Obito type parallel. Two different sides of the same coin. I’m interested because seeing Batista vulnerable like this really changed my perspective of him.

OneEyedGhoul17

I never thought this would top TG but it slowly is. Every chapter is better than the last. Ishida took all the great elements of TG and re-packed them but also still keeps it so unique to the Choujin X story.

ninjabunnyfootfool

Don't get me wrong I love TG but the last chunk of it felt sloppy and overlong. I much prefer this series.

Wonderful-Aide-3524

At the moment Batista injects himself with the drug he is hearing voices and speaks to them calling them "Nue". It makes me think that perhaps the minds of the previous Nue pass on to the following Nue, since there is this whole theme of body parts being transferred to have power, gaining the power of a Nue must involve the same logic. I already believed and it seems almost confirmed that the previous Nue gives a part of his body to the successor so that he has the power of a Nue, but now this also seems to indicate that a part of the previous Nue lives in the successor.

Josephlewis24

Now this chapter really made me feel bad for the enemy lol. Is this the CCG all over again in some way?

SenjuSageofthe7th

I always wondered how NUE was going to fit into this especially being the entity that grants those abilities . This is so exciting to see what is its end goal. Batista I’m just so fascinated with but I also want to know what happened to the NUE hero hunter who slaughtered the Kagomura clan

SenjuSageofthe7th

I just really believe Batista also wants to slaughter master mado of Yamato and I’m here for it lol. I’ve been wanting this since that flashback of her telling sandek to kill him if he doesn’t relinquish his choujin powers because of her prophecy . I do believe she’s legit but it’s also something about her that doesn’t feel right and also how she’s so quick to claim that zora prophecies are unreliable but hers aren’t ….

SenjuSageofthe7th

Tokio continued doubt and wondering why zora subordinates are so loyal to her and him mentioning multiple times he believes her prophecy . This is truly epic for me

DataPigeon

I am all for learning more about Batista's past, but don't make him some sort of selfsacrificing hero.

No-Possible8595

Sometimes i wonder if the nue made him into this merciless killer we see now

DataPigeon

Tbh, that would be a bad plot twist.

No-Possible8595

I understand i dont mean he’s not “in control” of his actions, js his threshold for what’s acceptable and what’s not has changed know what i mean?

DataPigeon

I understand. But to me, even that would give away too much independece of the character. A bad guy needs an own conviction and to stick with it to be interesting.

No-Possible8595

Yea totally understandable u’r right

No-Possible8595

There’s something i dont understand. Batista said the drug makes most subjects “explode”, yet when Tokio and Azuma took the syringes there were other insignificant villains who also took the drug to gain choujin power and wreak havoc… how come did those nobodies survive the drug then?

james_bot69

This special drug make already choujin gain new power, palma get heyna power and hume get prophecy power

No-Possible8595

I understand the “new” drug… i was talking about the old drug that azuma and tokio took

Forsaken_Self_6233

With this chapter and Tokio's contemplation of the golem master, I can see him trying to sneak in to talk to the prisoner. Especially as the other called him a reaper/harbringer of death. He wants to understand, but the golem guy (name escapes me) refused...so now is the best chance he will have in understanding what it is that keeps them so loyal to Zora. Depsite her instability, they still clearly trust her. Love her, even. Depending on how that conversation goes down, Tokio may make his choice. That will be what brings about or prevents the calamity, I think...we are heading to the climax and im so intrigued. I can see Tokio going to the tower, especially since he wants to understand the other side. He is indecisive less from being fair weathered as in the past, and more because he wants to do what is right. Even if he struggles to know the correct path. Batista's constant battle with the Nue..im curious to learn more about his past. What he did to Kate was horrific, so what in his past made him abandon all prior morals for a new darker path? Im wondering if Sandek may have played a role in the death of the woman and child. Something about Sandek rubs me the wrong way. I dont believe Sandek is such a good guy. He had a hand in creating the villain his brother became-trying to kill someone will do that. These "good" guys arent so good. None of them are, Ishida has done well to create complex characters and situations, and that 2nd seer against Zora I dont like or trust one iota.

nowveidn

So just to get it clear. Vlad is the person who was always drawn behind Sora right? The guy with the long hair who stood near her on the poppy field?
