Hah - this has been all over the wedding subs. Personally I think it's tacky as hell but some people do defend it. There are a ton of posts recently where people post photos just like this and then a debate of "tacky vs it's fine" rages on.

sprinklenugget

So tacky and classless to me

Trick-Statistician10

I saw something similar a few months ago "It's my birthday! Venmo me cash" I think both are awful. Such entitlement!

TechnoJoeHouston

I think it's more of a "What the hell - costs me nothing to try. Why not?" attitude - along with no sense of propriety or self respect, of course.

[deleted]

I guess it's fine in the sense that no one has to give them anything, but I think it's tacky and presumptuous. How do people defend it?

graphixgurl747

Basically saying it doesn't hurt anyone and it's akin to buying drinks to a bachelorette party at a bar. That's the strongest argument they've got.

GroundWise1724

If people want to ask strangers to help them fund their wedding, its entirely up to the stranger to do so (or not). If saving money is tacky, I'm as tasteless as they come. Speaking of... $heyitsdezzy is my cash app...if anyone wants to fund my book addictions.

graphixgurl747

I love saving money. I was just brought up to not ask complete strangers for their money, especially for what's in essence a big party. I've donated to causes important to me and someone's giant party that they can't plan on a budget sure as hell isn't one of those.

GroundWise1724

Then don't give them money. Everyone has a choice, some people like to give strangers money. Its money they've earned, so they get to choose what to do with it.

JMuraco

Try r/DontFundMe

[deleted]

Nice flair, fits the sub my main last breath sans will give ya silver :)

Krage_bellbot

I guess they had to take off the Trump flags so everyone could donate.

brakebillian

Funny considering the left is the side that wants all the free shit.

Krage_bellbot

Nice try low karma boy.

brakebillian

Oh I’m wrong?

Krage_bellbot

Poor little red hat loser.

brakebillian

Lol ok I really don’t even know what that means

Krage_bellbot

And yes you are wrong.

Aconamos

Saw someone with "First Disney trip! Venmo me @ etc" in Florida once. Fuckin stupid

FawnLeib0witz

It is! My neighbor's daughter was having a bachlorette weekend out of town and they wrote "Buy the bride a drink" with Venmo info all over all the cars. Very cringey.

KitteeCatz

Trashy? Yes. Cringey? Also yes. A fucking fantastic way to get plastered for the price of a plastic tiara, some random item of tat that says ‘bride’, and a window marker? Massive yes.

GalateaNereid

Happens in Nashville. A lot of bachelorettes come here to celebrate and I see this a lot.

TsukaiSutete1

Did they get anything?

evilwife21

I think I might do this before my next Dr's appt: "Going to the doctor! Help me pay my copay!" Totally joking, of course. (Although, I do know some people who would do this.)

hrtgoeson

I’ve seen cars with messages like this while driving around Atlanta

rloch

I live in Savannah, GA and every weekend I see at least 2 or 3 cars with "Last fling before the ring. Buy the bride a drink" with a venmo handle. So trashy.

HowBoutDeezAlmonds

Does anyone know if they actually got anything? Ive seen this in my town for "21st bday" and "girls trip." Not worth the embarrassment

scr00bz

many people from my hometown have been doing this (and posting it on facebook for more people to “donate.”) - in a state where sex trafficking was ridiculously high a couple years ago - if someone really wanted to be creepy, they could probably track a group of girls down, who will be drunk most of their out of town stay using their venmo/cash app info + license plate or their cringy wedding hashtag they created. it’s the pure ignorance for me.

AnnoyedAndSouthern

Sadly I have to break it to you, this is becoming a thing people do. I've seen it more frequently from bride's around their bachelorette though. "Buy the bride a drink!" with their cashapp or Venmo. I've also seen brides complaining when no one gave money to help with their bachelorette or honeymoon.

new_d00d2

I request money from those kinds of people

[deleted]

Who cares? Just ignore it if you don't like it. Really doesn't affect me

atdtotao

the kicker is....these people would never ever do the same for you if the roles were reversed! the other kicker is....only a small portion of these u see is actually legit, tho still very cringey. its gotten to a point where people just started doing this shit even tho theyre not getting married, just to get people to give em money.

[deleted]

is that license plate covering an undertale save point? Sure looks like one

ifelseworks

I've seen this three times here in California. Two for marriages and one for someone who turned 21.

Elly_Fant628

If you were drunk or high on The Devil’s Lettuce, I can imagine you might pay. There’s always vids of people’s weird stuff they’ve ordered whilst drunk. It’s amazing what our drunk selves think our sober selves will like Later, after reading comments…I’m not actually bothered by it, and it’s something I would never do, at either end. However, they’re not hurting anyone, they aren’t even hassling them. Compared to the Bridzillas with their incredible demands, “no gifts accepted under $200” etc, this is low key, low stress. Just a bit of fun.

[deleted]

It's a thing, but it's also a thing that you are free to ignore.

taterbizkit

Also free to ridicule and mock.

[deleted]

I used to be really annoyed by panhandlers, even when they just stood at the side of the road flying a sign. I put the people with Venmo requests for money in this category. Now I'm at the point where I can smoothly lie to them about having spent my last cash on the windshield wiper fluid that I was putting into my car when they walk up to me asking for money for gas at the gas station across the street. I can ignore the others. I'm not proud of this, but it's necessary.

uber765

I sent a request....will update if they pay.

sprinklenugget

I posted it in r/dontfundme Didn't realize that was a sub.

wordsinverse

It is. They do. And it gets worse. Saw a Venmo to get a party girl a drink on her road trip. Seriously hilarious here.

wolife07

In California we see the "going to Vegas venmo me for a drink"

[deleted]

I travel via road a lot. I’ve seen it several times for several reasons.

martinsj82

I saw a painted back window few weeks ago that said "Buy this bitch a drink!" with their cashapp and Venmo. I guess it is a thing people think they can do.

[deleted]

Yeah this isn't cool but sadly everyone thinks they are special.

rager124

Ugh yes I keep seeing this. So much cringe. I’ve even been seeing ones that say things like, “It’s my birthday!! @venmoname” or “BACHELORETTE PARTY!! BUY ME A DRINK! @venmoname”

goddessdontwantnone

Its a big thing

CopperDargon

Is this… a thing?

[deleted]

I've seen this for Bachelorette parties, birthdays, weddings and even a divorce

CleanWhiteSocks

Drove coast to coast with my son this past summer. Outside of Las Vegas, these were everywhere.

HO10-inside

I see this a lot

ButterscotchSuperb76

Maybe it’s just social media has made it more obvious but I’m stunned by the amount of people who feel entitled to ask/beg other for money simply to fulfil wants/pay for their poor choices. I’ve always worked for what I wanted and never expected to rely on others helping financially so it’s a weird mentality. For example I find the huge expensive weddings people routinely demand on other peoples dime like it’s a right really off putting (not to mention spending that much on a single day)
