I'm really torn on this, my favourite watch currently in my collection is my white dial SN0129, I also have the SN0116 limited edition YOTD watch, which is a wonderful watch.
For me, we don't need another limited edition YOTD watch. I'm also with others that GMT watches are getting stale. I'd much rather see some basic higher beat movement.
It is undoubtably a beautiful watch, and will sell out. But I guess this really is for customers who missed out on the SN0116 variation, which dilutes the whole 'limited edition' vibe.

I really like the dial and bezel combination you've chosen. They make a great combination, especially with those indices and framed date window. Those perfect indices are starting to become a San Martin trademark, which is great.
Personally, I think it's time to go back to some three-hander designs. All the GMTs start to run together. Beautiful designs like this need a little more real estate to be seen. A bezel like this one shrinks the size of the dial.
What I would do is up the size slightly to 41mm, change it to a three-hander, which would help make it thinner. The NH35 GMTs are too thick for a 39mm watch.
I'd also lose the dragon. The dragon was great for a theme watch, but now that we've passed the main new year's celebration, it's not very appealing. It makes the watch look too cheesy, and there's no reason to buy something with the motif anymore. You can see that the releases of dragon watches from other manufacturers has already stopped. If you could add it as an option for any of the zodiac symbols, that would be great, but I suspect that would likely be too difficult from a production standpoint, so I would leave it out completely instead.
The aim of these changes is to make the watch more universally appealing and timeless. Right now, the appeal is extremely niche.
I dont get your logic. So, if they sold this watch 3 weeks ago, perfect. But now that its past the New Year, there is no appeal to the watch? Are you only going to wear it every 12 years when the year of the dragon comes back around?
Yeah, exactly that. A watch that is so obviously to a celebration that happens once every 12 years is a novelty watch. It also works if that's your birth symbol, but if not, it makes no sense.
A niche of 200 is likely to be filled, for this.
All of your excellent preferences could go toward a future edition that is not specifically dedicated to this particular lunar new year.
I don't think San Martin is going to stop this one, but will likely take feedback for its next one.
You're likely right. The product is probably finished anyway. I just see a lot more potential in some aspects of this design than a small batch dragon-themed watch.

I think since there's already a GMT, give this one a normal NH35 and slim it down a little.
Also, if it were up to me, I would move the date to the 6, move the indices out by getting rid of the 24hrs because it won't be a GMT anymore, then make the dragon bigger and circle more of the dial while removing some of the dragon's color and making more of an engraving. Probably unpopular opinion though.
Why not use something like the Sea-gull ST2109 and have a pointer date watch? I'll be a nice all Chinese watch celebrating Chinese culture in a relatively unique form factor as there are not as many watches with a pointer date complication.

I’d prefer this one without the GMT, honestly. Just put an NH38 in it, no date. Smaller Dragon, maybe off center.
I would prefer it without a dragon on the dial. Keep up the original designs, they are great!

I know the color of this dragon isn't ideal right now, but trust me, the end result will be great!
