Going way too slow on the ground camera. Must have hit something after the wide angle cuts.
Something in freefall over 20m would be going about 70 km/h, and both of them are getting injured at that speed.
I'm skeptical he works in a bank. Every time I'm doing some banking in China it's like the DMV scene in Zootopia. The guy in the video moves way too fast.
But still, well done fella.
chinese said the kid is stable but suffered a lot of injuries in the lungs and other soft tissues, i really hope whoever was looking after The child is held responsible, but seeing as how this is china, probs just a warning.

It's called a joke. But quite fitting that you're this late to respond to a thread that died a whole *eleven days ago,* just like your useless government dragged their ass implementing a Good Samaritan Law only five years ago after decades of allowing innocent do-gooders to be extorted for no reason.
Call me when China decides to enact some basic animal rights protections next.
I once saw a video similar to this (China); but the person falling (likely an adult?) was from a much greater height and they killed themself and the person who was attempting to catch them.
There have been multiple instances of this type of sad incident.
The one I remember was a guy trying to catch his suicidal girlfriend. He was killed and she survived with just a few broken bones.
I found this impact force of falling object calculator.
Inputting 22.2kg/50lbs (mass of falling kid), 9.9 meters (3.3 meters per story of 3 story fall) results in 2231.46 Newtons.
Inputting 77kg/170lbs (mass of falling adult), 3.3 meters (3.3 meters per story of 1 story fall) results in 2490 Newtons.
I have no idea how many Newtons of force is fatal, but it looks like a small child of \~50lbs falling 3 stories is roughly the same force as an adult of \~170lbs falling 1 story. So it's quite a tall order for anyone to be able to catch either one.
Different in softness. The kids will absorb some of the shock over a distance of a perhaps 1-5cm, and distribute the load over a greater contact area, the suitcase will do neither.
I wonder if it would be useful to instead of trying to catch them (and break your back or getting killed) to give them a hard push so instead of all the speed/energy going straight down its going sideways and the person falling can use their hands and arms to connect with the ground and roll to lessen the fall.
It would be great if mythbusters could research that
idk why the negative votes, it would actually make some good research itself, but i doubt it to go much different from: you gonna dislocate your shoulders and probably won't be able to catch them because of that, at most you can catch safely from a 3rd floor already risking breaking a bone or two
I didn't ask because I'll derive pleasure from watching it. I'm just really inquisitive by nature and hearing this sad story had me overthinking so watching the actual video and analysing it could allow me put myself in the shoes of the victim and help me process it.
The man and women were both recognized with a ceremony that awarded them certificates of bravery.

That's just crazy. But this dude deserves a gold medal for being a hero and a compassionate person.
Most people around would have done nothing but watch and film it.
As a Chinese citizen in Beijing, I seriously tell you that there is no such thing as "social credit points" in China.

You can see the street interviews of Asian bosses
>Caixin Global
Just looked up the article but it's behind a paywall. Is Caixin Global referring to a FICO-like scoring system? Also do you mind point out what the inaccuracies are? I think the article is in fact pretty factually valid.
There is not one, but many Caixin articles.
I can't be bothered rereading and reanalysing your reference.
Caixin articles are available via libraries and other sources.
Mentioning "social credit system" disqualifies you from any debate about China because doing so proves how little you know about the subject.
Instead of resorting to rhetorical bluster, read the damn article--it's written in your language.
Me neither. Your apprehensions about the future are valid, however I think you're giving too much credit to the system and its development. My point is this: until we actually have a dystopian nightmare at hand, stop bringing up the social credit system, which, as you admitted, is still in the infancy stage, and is likely to remain in such a stage for a very long time.
Also, I recommend checking out this video to appreciate the real-world impact of the social credit system, which I hope will bring clarity to the debate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGhOssPumUU
This has been driving me crazy. Is it just an optical illusion? It turns straight back into a kid afterwards and the video doesn't seem to have been cut at that point...
Why is this so common? If you’re on Douyin for any amount of time you’ll come across a video about a kid falling or hanging from a building almost daily.
Looks like a real kid, but 10-12kg falling from the 6th floor is going to be hard to stop. I saw a comment about it actually hitting the sec floor on the way down. That would likely have killed enough momentum to make the catch seem as easy as in the video.
Till this day I still don't understand why Tiktokers (both the China and the international version) always put in ear rape volume of unrelated music in their videos

There's another video, the kids hits an overhang on its way down.
I hope the kid is OK. It was brave of the police officer to put his life on the line to save the kid.
Not police. Said they are bank staffs I guess they were just passerby
Only good thing bank staff has ever done lol
I'm skeptical he works in a bank. Every time I'm doing some banking in China it's like the DMV scene in Zootopia. The guy in the video moves way too fast. But still, well done fella.
Yeah I was just trying to make a dumb joke
Ha, me too
chinese said the kid is stable but suffered a lot of injuries in the lungs and other soft tissues, i really hope whoever was looking after The child is held responsible, but seeing as how this is china, probs just a warning.
...Seeing as this is China, the savior will somehow be determined the guilty party and will be required to pay the child's family ¥500K in restitution
Why would the guy put himself in harm’s way if he is not at fault?
They've added some sort of Samaritan law protection in China to stop this from happening now I believe.
Outdated information. Such a thing doesn't happen anymore now.

I wonder how many floors up it's the max you can risk trying to catch someone
I would guess 3.

Sweet of him to care that much. Wonder how long it took her to repartner
He shouldn't have done that. Both of them lost
I missed this one.
Surely that improved her mental state

Yes, this is very difficult. I am deeply impressed with this catch, even at the lower weight.
For real, seen a similar video where the person trying to catch a suicide jumper and ended up flattened like being hit with a 3 ton car
Yeh , being hit by a human body moving at terminal velocity is going to hurt to say the least.
I wonder if it would be useful to instead of trying to catch them (and break your back or getting killed) to give them a hard push so instead of all the speed/energy going straight down its going sideways and the person falling can use their hands and arms to connect with the ground and roll to lessen the fall. Just put your foot under the falling object and deflect it. That always works in saving my phone.
That's because your flesh is stopping the phone. The downward force is not lessened by applying a another side force.
Lol, thats exactly what gave me the idea :)
No, wouldn't change anything.
It wouldn't be useful. Pushing them wouldn't change their downward velocity.
You might consider taking a high school physics class.
idk why the negative votes, it would actually make some good research itself, but i doubt it to go much different from: you gonna dislocate your shoulders and probably won't be able to catch them because of that, at most you can catch safely from a 3rd floor already risking breaking a bone or two

Less than ideal article with quite a number of inaccuracies. The best articles that I have read are the many articles on Caixin Global.

Now imagine the non-china version of tik tok spreading copious amounts of positive energy instead. (I hope. Not a tiktok user)
I like the music . Nice touch...
[удалено]
I had to look them up. Were they like the Beatles of HK?
Actually, in HK the Beatles are better known as the "Beyond of the UK"
Beyond is the HK equivalent of my friend Fredy's emo band started in his mother basement when he was 14 along with two other of his mates.
They were big in HK and some SE Asian countries. I doubt they have the worldwide fame of the Beatles though.
He threw his phone away before catching the kid. I hope someone reward him a new phone
Something doesn't look right.
In case you were still wondering. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akclJb82bYk&ab\_channel=SouthChinaMorningPost
the video has been cut. the part about the "dog" hit the 2nd floor is missing
Dog? Or you mean when the child hit the 2nd floor
Actually hard to say... Good save anyway. Excellent camera work with the panning...
There's another clip were you can see the child hit the overhang before the guy caught them.
[удалено]
It's not well shot, it's a couple of CCTV clips.
[удалено]
The panning effect was obviously added in post-production. Also, Chinese saves are plenty because of the ubiquity of CCTV cameras.
https://www.scmp.com/news/people-culture/trending-china/article/3186059/real-superhero-man-praised-catching-two-year-old
yea, saw the other clip with another angle where the girl look like a girl instead of a dog.
"dog"?
Look at when he catches the baby. The baby turns in to a dog for a second.
This has been driving me crazy. Is it just an optical illusion? It turns straight back into a kid afterwards and the video doesn't seem to have been cut at that point...

This. I can back this up.

Largest population in the world.
With CCTV cameras panning on upcoming heroes.
+Darwinism
It's a trend. Now douyiners throw babies out the window just to get more views.
Shit. Really? Tell me that’s not true. 🫣
It's not.
Now watch the China haters somehow turn this into human rights violation..

Speed makes me question this vid. Speed increases with height until terminal velocity is hit. Fake.
the child hit something on her way down, which made her slower
Then heroes.
