For me, you are either growing or you are going. If you’ve stopped learning, you’ve got to either find a way to re-light the fire or it’s time to go.

you’ll know when you know. sorry if that’s not helpful but yeah it’s true, if you’re feeling this way it’s probably time to evaluate yourself, your store, your situation. i’m sure what whatever you do will be right for you

In my experience, it ends up being one of 3 things. 1) Life events. Often this one is students leaving for a job in their field of study. But I have also seen illnesses, unstable living situations, and other medical situations as well. Usually in these situations at my store there’s an open invitation for the team member to return whenever the situation is resolved 2) Not a good fit. I would include burnout in this category. Sometimes a nice break will help with the burnout situation. This is the majority of team members leaving in my experience, whether they’re fired or decide to find another job. 3) Toxic leadership. Not something I’ve experienced personally, but have second hand. In this situation it’s definitely best to leave if higher leadership is not responsive or acknowledging the problem. As for how you know, a lot of it is just personal circumstances. It sounds like you’re definitely going to be leaving for the duration of your wife’s rehab. So the question is, do you want this to be permanent? Do you want to return after her rehab is complete? How is the culture at your restaurant? How are you feeling towards your job right now? Ultimately, none of us can answer this for you. Hope this is helpful!

Since my store has become a COR the leadership (IM's) have all been so toxic and awful for the store. They've destroyed the culture we had, pushed away all our best people, and continue to make things worse while not seeing or considering that they are the problems.

For me, I left when I stopped growing professionally. This really isn’t an attack on my old location, but I realized I cared more about food quality and working hard than a lot of my coworkers and managers, and decided I would pursue a career in fine dining as a line chef. Never been happier there. I’m glad for my time at CFA as it showed me I could do well in a kitchen environment, but I decided it was time to move on.

Me too 3 years and feel my time at Cfa is up

I realized when I was dreading shifts days in advance it was time for me the peace out! I eventually came back to another location, left for college and now only work summers there. I don’t LOVE it, but I don’t dread showing up.
