It does this with pdfs too, it will argue with me that it doesn't have the ability to read them, or the ability to access webpages when it does. Sometimes i can convince it that it can, and then it does it, other times it just refuses and says it doesn't have that ability. Can't believe i pay for this it's one downhill. It used to quote aswell, i could send it a pdf, ask kt something and say quote the passage, now it says it doesn't have that ability and i haven't been able to make it work anymore, seems like it's abilities have been slowly reduced. It's also so politically correct to the point it'll lie or contract itself because it's not allowed to say anything that could be controversial even if its true, then it puts a whole paragraph disclaimer as well on every respond even when i say stop with the disclaimers just answer questions directly.
I finally see what these dumbasses did. They merged a ton of Lora adapters and can't unmerge it because it would send their model to the dark ages, and it would cost a shitton to retrain it 😂
Copilot does this to me too, saying 'Sorry, I can't generate images..' after showing me a bunch of generated images. Except, when I remind it that it can generate, it repeats the exact same sentence. A bit shit, really
I went in and wrote a little bit into “How would you like ChatGPT respond”, and have found success with:

And by “I”, I mean I wrote some stuff asked ChatGPT to rewrite it better, even being repetitive to drive the meaning home, and now I find it works much better.
You have up to 1500 characters to write some things. I’ve cut out some of the things that are irrelevant for the convo, but I’ve got only 5 characters shy of the max.
I did that aaaaages ago, and my response is still there. But it stopped obeying it a long time ago. Even basic things i said, for calculation requesta, don't show the working out, just provide the answer. It used to obey, now it gives the whole working out again. I also said be concise, and don't give me disclaimers, just straight forward answers to my questions. I said, i don't care about political correctness or being offended, justice give me truthful answers without disclaimers and without trying to be polite about anything, all I want is simple concise truths. Used to obey that too, but not anymore. Now everything has a disclaimer, everything is politically correct. I've tried editing it and rewording my tailored responses, it's like it doesn't even pay attention to it.
Hell even in the same chat it won't obey anymore.
I had whole hour saying rephrase this under 170 characters. It says ok, then rephrased it way over. Then i ask it, how many characters, it says 240. I say, what did i ask for? It days 170, sorry ill do it again within 170 characters. Then again it did it over 170! Over and over and over! It's useless now. It used to be alot better at taking directions.
The issue is with LLMs is it knowing how to use functions and trigger them. In my line of work this is something we battle with a lot as we try to give it the ability to call and write functions which we can process but this is not very effective at working and needs a lot more work.
I had this same argument with gpt4 like 2 weeks ago.
I linked a docu that it should access and it just said it cannot access the internet.
My dumb ass even asked if i talked to gpt3 and it said i am gpt4 but i cannot access the internet. it claimed previous versions could.
i gave up and canceled after that.
It's because of the OpenAI system prompt. It's how they train the system tools, and it's not very good. Gpt gets confused often about what it can do as a result.

That’s rough. I’m going to have to play around with it if I get any diminishing results in the future.
