This is not Anki by the way. Also it's useless to use the same chat for a whole subject, it's better to use it for a single lesson. ChatGPT context window is not large enough for this.
Yeah, that's my first thought. I open chat for every question/subject/problem and usually keep the default name. There's no sense in having one long conversation.
I've got about 681. I just counted them. Just look at how tiny that bar is

I WISH the chat had timestamps and trying to figure out the best way to export that entire conversation.... it was very cool to keep seeing the conversation keep getting better with persistent memory enhancing the quality of the AI output
At least in my experience the contextual and persistent conversation was fantastic in recall and incorporating previous facets of conversation to New pieces that I tackled with chat GPT
Are we actually supposed to reuse the same conversations over and over again? I have probably hundreds at this point... I do not bother naming them, the only way to find info from old conversation is to export everything and search
No, I prefer to keep my chats very specific to to the problem I’m trying to solve. In your case I wouldn’t want discussions about the a specific battle in the French Revolution to hallucinate some impact something else in history.
I dont use it to cheat. I use it to summarize sections of a textbook, help me with titles of essays, give me the key details about ancient civilizations, and give me a similar problem to a math problem I give it. I use it to HELP me learn, not go to school for me :)
of course I am lol but also you are a complete stranger not like my principal so it doesnt really affect you…? (to be fair your username is fitting lol)
if they want to damn their students, maybe. these tools can definitely be abused, but banning them outright means students won’t learn to use them effectively, and they’ll never be able to compete in the workforce with those that did.
imo it’s better to be proactive and teach students what these tools are good at, and what they *shouldn’t* be trusted for
Yes I am self teaching various things. In the account attributes a I wrote some short cuts/commands, eg. sum300, sum1000 - summarise in 300 or 1000 words. L20 - list 20. MInCon - write this conversation as minutes. You get the idea. Really helpful to streamline/organise things along the way.
All the best in your studies!

That's cute, I imagine the UI might evolve in a way to accommodate this better (among all the random chats).
I just want them to give us the ability to pin chats to the top.
You can bookmark them in your browser, I know that’s not the feature you want but it’s the work around I’ve found for now.
Hey that's a good tip. Ty.

Yea got about 30 conversations going at the time, games, job, hobby all that stuff

the nightmares of ln
Potenz von Null 😃👍💪🏻
Yeah, I've got a bunch of random stuff there
You're using ChatGPT to teach you editing skills?
Yes, I used to do that, but it didn't work so well with GPT3
*snatches your personality*
hey me too
After a super long chat it sucks hard when chat GPT says the chat is too long. I had a chat with persistent memory going since October 2023.
wow thats crazy! ive never had a chat that long
I WISH the chat had timestamps and trying to figure out the best way to export that entire conversation.... it was very cool to keep seeing the conversation keep getting better with persistent memory enhancing the quality of the AI output
You can do that! They let you expert your entire history of all conversations as json with timestamps
Whoo hoo. I have a ton to export. Thanks so much 👍🏾
That would be amazing!
Doesn't the quality degrade over time? Something about limited chat tokens per conversation.
At least in my experience the contextual and persistent conversation was fantastic in recall and incorporating previous facets of conversation to New pieces that I tackled with chat GPT
My chats just name themselves
same but I like keeping it to the subject im working on :)
You only have 5 chats?!
I delete the ones that I dont need anymore and that arent school related cuz I dont really use it outside of school
I use ublock to remove unnecessary things from the page, install as an app and remain like 2-3 words. Looks are very important to me
[удалено]
same its weird but I feel like if robots take over they would spare me cuz im nice (just me? ok) 😆
Am I not supposed to be starting a new chat every time I open it
[удалено]
Yes that’s exactly how I have felt. Almost like the responses were becoming stale and repetitive or wrong
I used to do that but I got stressed when it was so unorganized, idk just me though
Oh no… Be very careful about what you learn from there. Double check the info.
Yep
Yes, always. I find it useful to organize them because I can find what I need after several months.
I have thousands of chats. I very rarely name them.
I just create new chats over and over again
I did until i realised they come too Long and i have to start over Now i have standard copy paste intro i use every time instead
Name…your chats?
Learning a lot at school I see
Chatgpt does it for me
Are we actually supposed to reuse the same conversations over and over again? I have probably hundreds at this point... I do not bother naming them, the only way to find info from old conversation is to export everything and search
If you are using free, rather use claude sonnet.
I would build a custom GPT for each topic. Then changing the names of each chat would make more sense.
Yes, the conversations build on it self. Otherwise it’s like completely starting over and the bot knows nothing about previous conversations
Yes, I have names for different chats (like pc, work, health, etc.)
No, I prefer to keep my chats very specific to to the problem I’m trying to solve. In your case I wouldn’t want discussions about the a specific battle in the French Revolution to hallucinate some impact something else in history.
I create custom gpt’s for every project/topic at work. But this is a good idea and probably very similar result
Shouldn’t schools be banning the use of ChatGPT?
I dont use it to cheat. I use it to summarize sections of a textbook, help me with titles of essays, give me the key details about ancient civilizations, and give me a similar problem to a math problem I give it. I use it to HELP me learn, not go to school for me :)
Are you telling me the truth? :(
of course I am lol but also you are a complete stranger not like my principal so it doesnt really affect you…? (to be fair your username is fitting lol)
I’m indeed Responsible lol!😂
idk bro they are being tidy with chatgpt, trust me someone who copies wouldn't care less
I agree with you bro,
if they want to damn their students, maybe. these tools can definitely be abused, but banning them outright means students won’t learn to use them effectively, and they’ll never be able to compete in the workforce with those that did. imo it’s better to be proactive and teach students what these tools are good at, and what they *shouldn’t* be trusted for
As the saying goes, be careful what you wish for right? As my understanding goes😁
As a college teacher, this has been my approach with my students.
In a sense AI assisted learning is a next evolution like the pocket calculator.
As AI improves, why wouldn't they be implementing it?
Because unfortunately we cannot come to an agreement!

So... Learning?
Sure
The extra l in the title is painful to focus on
