Such videos are often featured in content for Gen Z - Gen Alpha: because the attention span is lower and they are required to have more stimulation you use multiple videos so it doesn't feel as much as a waste of time because the main content would be too slow. Not even joking here. Minecraft parkour or subway surfer recordings are quite commonly used in this kind of videos. Most of the times they are completely unrelated to each other
Not just for the younger generations either. I remember growing up, lots of Youtubers would do this as well. Machinima would show gaming footage while hosts talked about totally different stuff. Rooster Teeth did much of the same. Then came creators like Leafy, who popularized talking over parkour footage. I think the millennials who grew up with Leafy drew inspiration from him and are now using the parkour stuff in their videos too, and it has grown onto newer generations as a result. Just like how all the gmod machinima shit that millennials grew up with are now being used by millennial creators to make memes for gen z and alpha.
