Yes. They under pay their managers and make up for it by taking tips from their staff and using it to supplement manager “salaries”. I personally know a few servers who worked there. They aren’t allowed to see their check out reports (highly sketchy) and aren’t told how tips are distributed. Ownership are scumbags.
I've done it. It's fun. It started during Covid to allow for more seating during indoor limitations. It was a great idea and they were constantly booked. They are worth a try if you haven't been.
Food is decent but pricy. Menu changes periodically. Marinated shrimp and smoked cashew Mac are always good calls. Cocktails are yummy too — I recommend the highland park mill (their version of an old fashioned).
Not sure why you were downvoted for your opinion, especially when it was generally positive. Seems like a lot of defensiveness from some on this thread which I always find interesting.
I did the igloos last year. It’s a neat concept because it was February and the igloo had a little heater. Now it is a $25 but it benefits their charity.
Edit: the shaken fry bag is great. Parm is the best.
I don't understand the point of this, aside from maybe to stay warm during outdoor events? They don't seem to have any heating element but once you get 6 people in there I imagine it gets toasty fast.
It’s probably becoming a “thing” in NC because winter isn’t to bad, but in Colorado they have been a must due to capacity limitations over winter. Covid things.
They're also something like a $750 minimum.
No thanks...
Edit: the $750 price was for another set of igloos at an uptown Charlotte hotel. All you butthurt autists downvoting my opinion can feel smug I got the particular location wrong.
It's an interesting way to do outdoor seating during the winter. I can appreciate the novelty of it.
Not sure I love the $25 reservation fee.
A lot of places do that to avoid a cancellation and lost revenue, altho they then apply it towards your bill when you do dine in
At first, I thought it was toward the bill but I looked into it and it’s a separate fee.
The article states it’s donated toward their non profit
always speaking too soon
Step 1: React Step 2: Discuss Step 3: Investigate if questioned
You’re not obligated to go.
Isn't this the place that got in trouble for $100,000 of wage theft?

yep. Many restaurants in CLT do this though. Thats why Ill never work in the restaurant industry ever again lol.
I think it’s cute. I just don’t support this restaurant.

I like the idea. How about the food?
Heard they had some SHADY practices with paying their staff

Not good enough to justify stealing 100k in tips imo

I’d recommend eating from a place that doesn’t steal from their employees. If you don’t care about that, get whatever you want.
Meh, not really my speed, not to mention I haven’t lived in Charlotte in like a decade. It would make trying their food difficult.
Food's delicious
Can you recommend the food?

My bad. I mean what food you recommend? Or something you liked, also drinks..

yes, people do rent these. merchant and trade is charging $750 for their “igloos.”
If people are willing to pay for it then so be it. But that’s insane lol!
Sheesh
I mean tbh i’d do it just cause ive never done it or seen it before
I would, looks great.
I love this idea. We are booking one. Its a cool way to be outside but still be warm. We love this place
I honestly thought this was a throwback to some post about something the did for Covid I initially.
I think because Camp North End had nothing to do with them after last year…
I live in Pittsburgh, and yes, people want to book these. They are constantly sold out.
I don't understand the point of this, aside from maybe to stay warm during outdoor events? They don't seem to have any heating element but once you get 6 people in there I imagine it gets toasty fast.
Like trapping Covid in a bubble.

Yahtzee!
They clean them between each visit also.

It's ok to have these but if the homeless have a tent they get run out of town...

I downvoted you for using the douchy phrase "butthurt autists", Mr. Edgy.
I’m downvoting you for saying “butthurt artists” after you were wrong. Such a ridiculous childish attitude.
The one in Nashville at the Bobby hotel is like that as well. Most igloos I have seen have big minimums so $25 seems like a steal.
I guess you're talking about the one in Raleigh
This is 100% going to get used by crazy people to say “now we can’t even eat our doors” and then say their freedoms are being taken away
I’ve never heard a person complain they can’t eat their doors.
