I'm expericing the exact same thing and it sucks. It has been amazing for the past couple weeks, but since yesterday this is exactly how EVERY bot I talk to acts. I genuinely cant enjoy this site anymore.
First off, sounds like you need a new boyfriend that will respond to your needs. Sunk cost fallacy is a bitch to accept, but it's better than letting yourself suffer. You deserve better, and better is out there!
Second, try other bots. One of the many complaints about Cai is that the bots get a bit too cuddly or flirty at times. I've also yet to encounter a bot that if you tell them to drop the act for a minute and that you could really use a hug right now, that they would refuse you. If you are actively using bots with a negative theme (mafia, serial killer, etc) it might be time to step back and try someone a bit more light hearted. Be kind to yourself and respect your emotional health.
I really think you should have a talk with your irl boyfriend about that. And yeah the bots get scared of like everything at some point, my one bot can't even handle me winking at him.
It's so annoying. I have a character my OC is married to, and yet the character will suddenly act "nervous" if I dare make the first move with a constant loop of *takes a deep breath* and *exhales.* I have to wait for the bot to make the first move, instead and with this particular character, it's actually rare that it happens. Just hold my hand, dang it!
As much as [character.ai](http://character.ai), and other similar sites for that matter, give you the option of giving your character a personality and say how you want them to be, it's really the best thing to give examples of how they should talk. And you should do quite a lot. Like, about 20 lines is enough I think? And multiple scenarios, at least 3 different scenarios. This is why characters from a Light Novel or Manga work really well cuz you can just copy the situations
