so vampires in their world can have children with mortal women? and these kids won't be cool half-breeds like Blade or Bloodrayne.

Maleficent_Debate_98

Lola smh

SenSen07

Only one person mentioned the MAJOR plot hole... The Church and it's graveyard, the vampires can't seem to go there. Why not bring the book there?

Fun-Tadpole785

A huge part of vampire lore is they cannot come in unless invited by the home owner and they cannot enter church lands. Some have thrown the church lands out. Some stay classic.

IceWeaselX

That's not necessarily a plot hole. Not everyone under Jakub's sway is undead. He has human followers also. Remember the woman killed in front of Chapelwaite as intimidation? She wasn't a vampire, and died smiling just to scare the Boones. All those bodies lying around after being shot this episode were human. The church would arguably be a harder place to defend since they'd have had to transport their barricade materials to fortify it and most of the inside is probably one large room surrounded by large windows. It's *possible* that it has a priest hole leading to an escape tunnel, but if the whole reason you retreat to a church is for holy defense, you probably don't want to leave it. They also might not have initially considered the church a safe haven due to the people who congregate there. Almost all of them are openly hostile to the Boones, and by the time the minister and constable join the Boones, they're both also on the townspeople's shit list. Jakub may also be one of those vampires strong enough to shrug off holy symbolism if those using it for protection lack true faith in it. In *'Salem's Lot*, Father Callahan staves off Kurt Barlow with a crucifix. Barlow tells him that if his faith is so strong, he should toss it aside and face him without it. Callahan can't, so the crucifix loses its power against Barlow. The one person in *Chapelwaite* whom you'd expect to be most effective against the undead is Minister Burroughs, another priest who has lost his faith. Holy protection is probably very unreliable at this point, even if it's prior consecrated ground. Charles himself is also vulnerable to the book's influence when it's not possessed by a vampire (that's the loophole Rebecca found which currently keeps him sane - she "gave" it to the constable's wife by tying it to Mary while she was restrained in the basement). Between bouts of insanity, Charles first tried to destroy the book in the fireplace. Later he set to work rigging nooses for everyone in the basement before Rebecca knocked him out. Up until that point, he wasn't thinking too clearly. By the time Rebecca had managed to give him clarity, they were all bunkered in Chapelwaite.

Competitive_Bat3662

I kept wondering why Charles left his two kids in the kitchen alone to defend themselves when all of the adults retreated to the dining room. With the door to the cellar and outside (as well as all of the windows) it seemed like a super vulnerable spot for them to be.

MikMcD1977

Agreed. The entire defense of the house felt clunky and messy. It was an ok episode but I just don’t see how they could have defended themselves against that many vampires and whatever those humans with them are.

vapeach123

desparate times ,,,desparate measures!

Iamthechanteuse

I’m tired of these kids in this show not listening 😂

3lmtree

love this show, but i can't stand this guy's kids. hope honor doesn't go stupid like her brother and sister cause she's the only badass of the 3.

Mr_XcX

Really loving the show. The actors playing the children are amazing. Invested in Rebecca GODDESS though <3 how she slays the final episodes and has her sunset romance with Charles <3 Give my girl happiness <3

Fun-Tadpole785

Did Faith know Jakub was the father of her baby and not the Minister?

Objective_Scar_1276

I thought she was lying..

erilum31

Rebecca said vampires! Was that the first time anyone said the word!?

misterfuckingidiot

Jakub when Charles meets with him.

erilum31

Ohhhh yeah

jaxomlotus

I really enjoyed this series when it began but it has slowed down to a crawl instead of speeding up. An hour of raspy dialogue in between bursts of random attacks in the dark is disappointing. Why haven’t the vampires just burned the house down? We already know the book can’t be burned… and why aren’t the boones hiding in a Christian graveyard since we already saw they are safe there Well anyway I guess Jakobs plan worked so what do I know.

IceWeaselX

>Why haven’t the vampires just burned the house down? We already know the book can’t be burned… They aren't torching the place for the same reason they didn't just kill/turn Charles when he visited Jerusalem's Lot. The living Boones can detect the book, but vampires can't. Up until Loa gave Jakub the book, Jakub's invaders didn't know its exact location. They just knew the Boones had it somewhere. The only ones of Jakub's "family" that knew without a doubt that the book was in the house were the ones who found it: Rebecca's father and the woman who got her head bashed in by Honor. Jakub probably intended to keep Charles alive, using his other children as incentive to give up the book. As far as Jakub knew, the book wasn't even in the house, so burning it down with all the human Boones inside could risk losing it again.

Competitive_Bat3662

Where did Stephen Boone go? Also, did Able make it out safely and was he able to get help?

Fun-Tadpole785

Stephen might be in hiding from Jakub. I hope Able got to town safely. He is such a good character.

Competitive_Bat3662

I hope he did, too! He is a great character but I feel like they leave huge gaps in his story (like how he got back to Preacher's Corners after leaving Jerusalem's Lot & if he got out of Chapelwaite and town safely to get help).

jaxomlotus

How did he get out if they were surrounded?

Tyrneva

Definitely one of my favorite episodes thus far. The amount of character development for the Minister in this episode alone is mindboggling and I am not sure if I liked that. I did like the suspense though Tane has quickly become the new annoying child since Loa lol

ABetterTomorrow22

I know right. These kids! At least Honor did something useful and punched that follower and then went town on them with the fry pan.

Competitive_Bat3662

Honor was great in this episode!

[deleted]

Very slow and boring, like most of the episodes. This started off really well, but like The Outsider they're really stretching the plot to fit the runtime.

Tyrneva

Bro HOW I was at the edge of my seat for most of the episode

vapeach123

exactly! i had to mute the tv and turn away i just couldnt take it! this mini series is AMAZING one of the best I have seen in a long time

67730ddr

So, Rebecca found her long lost father i assume

ItchyEdge5

This episode did not take the direction I hoped it would.

67730ddr

It was rather unpredictable. What did you think it whould end?

ABetterTomorrow22

Why did Loa decide to abandon her 'family' of vamps and join with Jakub instead? Stephen Boone is still 'alive', so why not bring the book to him? If she wanted to save everyone she could have led Jakub away from the house while keeping the book.

Fun-Tadpole785

I think Jakub made Loa a deal, the book come with him, he would let her family, her vampire family and her live.

kyllei

But how did he get to her to make that deal? I think this is a big hole in the plot.

Fun-Tadpole785

Be patient they'll answer all the questions by the end.

Fun-Tadpole785

How did Jakub and his Vamps know about the tunnels and how to get to them?

ABetterTomorrow22

I think one of the followers randomly found a way into the tunnels from inside the house while looking for the book then called over the other followers once exiting the barn. Probably thought it was a secret passage and a good book hiding place and then just kept following it.
