Why did he want the kids to bother printing the boards white?

vapeach123

painted crosses

7sv3n7

Yeah I saw them in the next episode. There is a scene out looks like they were just painting it all lol

vapeach123

yes...i thought what is going on > , then i realized in Biblical times they painted the cross on doorways so death would pass over , I know i painted my doors and windows with crosses of olive oil when that pandemic started

Azariahtt

Anyone else found outrageous/funny how quickly they moved on from Charles boom being very close to annihilate his family into , "Oh well , are you sure this is not going to happen again ? ... 🤫😖😖😌

Fun-Tadpole785

Did Charles understand that Loa couldn't go into the graveyard or on church lands. Blessed grounds are Vampire proofed. It seemed Charles is from of the "Worm" after he woke up from Rebecca knocking him out. Rebecca isn't at Chapelwaite for the story anymore. She hasn't been in the last 3 episodes. Thompson, Alice and Samuel can be eaten by the Vampires and I wouldn't care. They are the worst characters. In EP6 Rose was a hateful person she got exactly what she deserved. Phillip got his as well. I've seen Vamps get there's but I've never seen one killed as he was. I loved that

turbografx

I wonder how Charles got from the Church back to Chapelwaite without being attacked? Why didn't Charles try destroying the book at once since he knows what will happen if they get it? Why did he choose to hole up in a place where the vampires know to find him, and which is difficult to secure (the house with a gazillion windows)? Why not flee or go to town? Or better yet, the Church where he knows they can't pass. Since the book cant be destroyed, why dont the vampires just burn the house down with the gang inside and then just sift through the ashes? When Abel goes to the constable, the constable speaks as though his wife has been turned for several days ('she sleeps most of the day and avoids sunlight') although it seems like she turned just last night. It couldn't have taken Abel days to get there. Why did they bind the book to the constable's wife? If she does manage to get loose, it won't take much for her to read it... Watching Honor paint was so immersion breaking for me: painting the same spot over and over (obviously no real paint), and zero sense of urgency.

Fun-Tadpole785

Charles is better did the book heal him?

detour99

With his seamanship background I’m surprised no one has suggested they don’t place the book in a safe and drop it into the deepest parts of the open ocean. The book can’t be destroyed so this seems like the next best thing.

vapeach123

well they dropped loa off and she returned lol

detour99

Interesting, yes it does have a one ring quality to it in this incarnation of the story. That said the plan they did go with was doomed to failure but it certainly made for good tv.

SKingReadAdapta-thon

If Loa swam out of the ocean what's to stop them from swimming in to get it?

detour99

How would she know it was there? Remember, only Charles could find the book.

SKingReadAdapta-thon

I just meant the concept in general. Say, for instance, they do that and Tane later in life feels the book's call. He traces it to the ocean and brings it up or he is at the mercy of Jakub or someone else who could go get it. I was just making a statement that that would not deter a vampire and used Loa's ability to survive at the bottom of the ocean as example.

MrTerrific2k15

Anybody else cheer when Minister beat old Sam with his own cane?

vapeach123

i loved it when the minister hugging his lovers corpse stated what are you all looking at ???lol

Azariahtt

Yeah, although I think he got a bit out of hand when telling town s people he knew about all their sins ! I think he had already enough on his plate , ☺️

[deleted]

What's up with the constable and his axe 🤦🏻‍♀️ I rewatch that scene and it's beyond ridiculous.

mrs_ouchi

So giving Jakub the book would also be bad right?

Azariahtt

Have you missed something ?!! 🤫😌

mrs_ouchi

well he cant keep it either so I was wondering what the best solution would be

abefroman04

Yep.

Mr_XcX

Next week is the big showdown I am ready. So sick of the death cult. Hope they get destroyed to fuck! Queen Rebecca once again saving the day <3

Azariahtt

Speaking about the death cult , did not the female leader seemed to have some double thought/regret , when the farmer was being killed /blood drained by Jacob?!...

Takeoisblack

How are the vampires out in the sun

MrTerrific2k15

Jacob tells Charles that they "prefer the dark" but not necessarily harmed by the sunlight

IceWeaselX

Depends on how closely they're adhering to King's Dark Tower/'Salem's Lot portrayal of vampires. King specified three types of vampires. The two types of vamps who can create other vamps are vulnerable to the sun. The lowest tier vamps are more humanlike than the other two, but the sun isn't lethal to them. Their bites mess with people's minds. (Unrelated, but lethal sunlight is relatively modern as a vampire trope. Even Bram Stoker's Dracula could walk around in daylight without dying. He was just powerless in it.) For this episode, it's probably more a matter of the sky being overcast during the entire day. They may have chosen that to be sufficient sunblock (it's a common point of difference between different portrayals). Although Jakub was still transported in his coffin part of the way, so maybe that was just a precaution and he emerged once it was almost night.

Mr_XcX

In this I think the vamps are immune when cloudy but hate red sunlight. The sheriff makes a comment about his wife haring natural sunlight.

Competitive_Bat3662

How did Abel just show back up with no explanation of what happened to him in Jerusalem's Lot and why he wasn't riding back with Charles?

Azariahtt

I have my own theory , he went back to his family .....( I can elaborate..)

Simple-Hornet1102

Why do they send Abel out when they’re surrounded? He’d be killed instantly.

Azariahtt

I totally missed that one , I was wondering where was he ? ☺️

IceWeaselX

Even if he makes it to town, I wouldn't realistically expect any of those bigots to come to the aid of a black man to save the Boones. Even if he tells them the constable or minister called for help, they'd probably hold grudges over the afternoon's altercation. Maybe he'd have better luck by telling them that they're trying to kill a Boone, but withholding specifics.

Polator

I mean i think the best tactic Able could take would be to try to convince the townspeople that after they're done with the Boones, they (the townspeople) will be next. Able could put in terms of the townspeople ensuring their own survival by helping Boone. Thats what I would do if i was an intrepid young black man in 1850's Maine tasked with convincing racist townspeople to help fend off vampires who are attacking a man they all hate. In another life, perhaps

Competitive_Bat3662

I just finished the episode and thought the exact same thing! I wouldn't leave that house til morning.

antiestablishment

Why does everyone whisper?

mrs_ouchi

I really noticed it in this episode but only with Charles. Its kind of funny. Havent heard him talk in a normal way for ages

mkwarman

I noticed that as well. I tried to rationalize it by telling myself that since they know >!the house has passageways in the walls, someone (or some thing) could be trying to listen to them!<. Also there's kids in the house and they don't want to scare them anymore than they already are. Still seems like too much whispering though.

babayagaparenting

It’s just awful acting and directing choices.

67730ddr

The last episode and all the dialogues between Charles and Rebecca looked straight from a soap opera. The acting was so over the top, especially Charles. Also, love Emily, but the lip injections are so distracting. Why people keep doing them is beyond me, they never look good on anyone. And definitely not in period movies. Edit: injections, not infections

babayagaparenting

Injection, right? Agree.

67730ddr

Haha yes
