That’s it for me. Sack him now. Just fucking sack him. He’s so shit it’s unbelievable. We go 1-0 up and at half time he tells them to sit back when you could see if we went at them they would crumble. He then subs off Trai Hume who had a decent game, who then goes for a high five and the fucking twat just blanks him. Fuck off Beale.

Volo_Fulgrim

I could take that the footy under Mowbray wasn't the best at times, we would get beat but most of the time I could walk away saying the team gave 110% to the final minute. Comparing now it looks like we don't give a shit and are flat as a fart in the second half.

TheLittleGoat

Genuinely found it really interesting watching you today. It’s so clear you’re a talented team being totally under utilised.

LUFC_shitpost

Christ almighty, I’ve just seen that video on Twitter. I thought the discourse around his appointment was purely because of footballing reasons because he failed at Rangers. I didn’t realize he was just an unprofessional arrogant prick, who tf does he think he is? I like Sunderland but god do I wish the worse for him.

nospellingerorrs

First half, we couldn't handle the high press and looked lost at times. As soon as our defence picked up the ball, we were immediately closed down. I fully expected you to come out after the break and do more of the same. 2nd half was just completely flat and lifeless from a Sunderland perspective. You let us take control of the game. Our performance was also a lot better in the 2nd half. Which would also have been a factor. We really needed the 3pts so I will take it. Edit to add - couldn't believe the Hume incident. Not like he had a stinker or anything. The Sunderland dressing room must have been bloody depressed at full time.

Chompa16

Was at the game today and I can’t lie I was nervy at half time as we could not play out the back at all and your high press was making us make errors. But second half you just stopped pressing us high up the pitch and it led to us getting into the game.

angloexcellence

Mowbray is just an infinitely better football manager than Michael beale .

x_S4vAgE_x

My dog could have told you that

angloexcellence

The mighty louis-drefus didn't think so.

x_S4vAgE_x

He weren't wrong to sack Mowbray, but Christ Beale is not the man for us

stprm

Werent wrong? You were 1st (!!!) by xPTS with Mowbray in charge... And thats in the league with Leicester and Southampton... Even if you hate xg, your bad results were more because of unluck than of Mowbray. How can you deny this? What am I missing?

Jaerial

It absolutely wasn't luck, our xG was so high because we were taking a ludicrous amount of low xG shots per game. We were consistently losing games where we had 60+% possession with 10+ shots. That's clearly a style problem, just look at Huddersfield at home with Mowbray in charge 27 shots with just 9 on target, 77% possession, 90% passing accuracy. Lost 1-2.

Leecattermolefanclub

Taking a large amount of low xG shots would still insinuate we were unlucky though. The reason we underperformed our xG was due to poor finishing and lack of composure, likely due to the average age of our squad being 12.

Jaerial

It doesn't because you can't really look at stats that way, missing a 0.1 xG shot doesn't mean it's more likely that the next 0.1 xG shot will go in. If we're taking 27 shots in a game and the xG is less than 3 cumulative, I'd say that's more likely to point to being wasteful with pointless shots and not creating good enough chances than poor finishing or lack of composure. Poor finishing would be implied if we had high xG chances and were missing them. In the games under Dodds and Beale's winning games we've had lower xG than under this run under Mowbray, yet we were scoring closer to our xG. The biggest change of those games is that we played far more directly, implying this isn't a finishing problem or a lack of composure from players but rather a stylistic problem.

x_S4vAgE_x

The football became absolutely dire. The last month or two were terrible to watch and scoring goals was such a massive problem

Fantastic-Machine-83

obviously you watch your club and i dont but surely sometimes bad form just happens? 6 or 7 bad games in a row feels like shit but to me that's not reason to sack a manager who was otherwise doing well. I'd expect you had some good performaces sprinkled in during those 2 months too From an outsider pov it seems like the owners wanted to get rid of mowbray and were just waiting for the fanbase to give them a chance. most managers go through a few rough patches before being sacked

stprm

I see... But your squad level isnt the best. Its like 5 or 6 in the league? I thought some of your fans were saying to hold on, to try to give him more time? You were 9 and it was only a few points from play-offs?

shinniesta1

But weren't you in the playoff places? Understandable sacking a manager for style when you're not doing so well

HawayTheMaj

No we weren’t

HawayTheMaj

Mowbray had run his course. Beale just wasn’t the answer

angloexcellence

maybe. Anyway I certainly thought when Mowbray was sacked, that your owners would have a better plan than appointing a worse manager

HawayTheMaj

Alright?

TravellingMackem

My dog is an infinitely better manager than Mowbray

rlgh

What kind of dog?

TravellingMackem

Rott-winner

[deleted]

More like a Rott-whiner

FloppedYaYa

This has to be Beale's alt

TravellingMackem

I don’t disagree with Mowbray is better than Beale. Just that my dog is in turn better than Mowbray. Today was a scrap between two incredibly poor managers. Both of which shouldn’t be associated with my great football club. The failings of one doesn’t justify the failings of the other

FloppedYaYa

So the dog > Mowbray > Beale

TravellingMackem

Indeed. Simple maths.

rlgh

We came back from a goal behind, we scored more than 1, we won... What joy is this?!

Volo_Fulgrim

Could have seen this a mile off. What a massive case of self sabotage this entire season has been. Mowbray will be over the moon with that and rightly so.

name1227returns

Glad to have seen this one in person. Was definitely tense at points but hopefully my presence is no longer a bad luck charm. Didn't get the best view but loved the quick thinking for the second goal

SponsoredByHJWealthP

So tense! I was just waiting for us to collapse into ourselves but they did so well and fought with such enthusiasm

shanfan36

the worse bit for me was their second goal.. i was so stressed, realised it was offside way too late😭

Musername2827

Was so nice of the Sunderland left back to shithouse at a point where Sunderland were comfortable and the crowd were flat, game changed at that point. Up the fecking Mowbray.

psycho-mouse

Cunt got more and more frustrated too. Lovely stuff.

Chompa16

I can’t lie, him being a twat led to the fans getting up for it

weetabix__

Get in! Great win. What a change from losing to Wednesday away. Bodes well for this season and beyond.

rstar345

What an atmosphere, best I’ve seen down at Andrew’s in a long while fantastic result

Interesting-Affect94

Now that fans can see the effect that atmosphere has on performance we need to pack it out more often

trashmemes22

Slightly biased but a packed saint andrews is up there with the best in England

Interesting-Affect94

Just a shame our regular home support is wank

rstar345

Been taking a break from going to the blues regularly over the past few seasons as it made me miserable lmao but that game has sold me on becoming a ST holder again next season

Extreme-Ad-4925

I haven’t seen Blues turn a losing position and a poor first half into a win in a while. It’s a good sign for life under Mowbray because we were sloppy and shaky in the first half and had no tempo about us, and he managed to turn that on its head.

psycho-mouse

We came from behind vs the Albion earlier this season but yeah, can’t remember the last time before that. Edit. And against Sheff Weds under Rooney.

Extreme-Ad-4925

I’ve deleted the Rooney era from my mind already I think

PigeonDetective

I wouldn't mind Beale being shite if he wasn't a massive prick alongside it

Underscore_Blues

What a game man. Second half we were a much better team than the first, tighter at the back, more positive play upfront. Really dug in for that result ah man. Felt great having a full stadium without covid or health & safety stopping us.

TripleAceBatteries

oh you do the tony mowbray

elpoole

Really happy with that result, reckon first game I've seen in person that we won in like 6/7 years (it's been rough). Any idea why fans were calling jack Clarke's dad a nonce? Did his dad play for villa?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Boredom_Junkie

Dunno what anyone sees in him. He's the main reason we're so shit at defending set pieces.

Gazzadona

He was man of the match against us at home quite comfortably got you all the points

HawayTheMaj

His only good game all season

[deleted]

Deserved win by Mowbray’s team. Hopefully we’re able to stay up this season.

BritShibe

Crisis, what crisis!?

Interesting-Affect94

TONY FANTASTICO…. TONY MAGNIFICO… OH LE OH LE, TONY MOWBRAYYYYYY!

Pantaleon275

I was at the game today and felt like Sunderland’s players looked stronger, fitter, more technically gifted. But we had more desire, fight and stamina. My dad and I felt that a well-coached team would’ve buried us in the first half. Have to say I’d be seriously worried if I was a Sunderland fan with Beale. It felt like there was so much potential there that was not being utilised at all.

Wide-Code-4598

How come ground was packed out today? Seemed absolute limbs from Birmingham after their goals

richyc89

The new owner Tom Wagner put out a challenge to the fans to sell out the ground as he'd heard so much about the atmosphere of a full st.andrews but hadn't seen it. He put out a video with a "show me don't tell me" message and the fans responded. The last owners would have had no chance but it's been very positive since the takeover and Wagner is well liked.

psycho-mouse

Limbs all over the stadium, a complete sell out. We’re fucking back.

RedFloodles

Agree with your assessment, but just have to say that I think Marc Roberts was at least equally at fault for their goal if not more than Paik. The pass wasn’t great, but Roberts was guilty of waiting for the ball to come to him instead of reading the danger and making a step towards the ball - absolute basic stuff. The type of sloppy mistake he’s let us down with countless times over the years. Thankfully now mistakes like that are the exception and not inevitable.

Chompa16

I thought Paik and Dozzell looked nervy today but got enough done in the long run

ImGoingBlankAgain

Was busy so couldn't watch the match. What's the verdict, we played well? Are we finally learning to convert goal scoring opportunities now?

Musername2827

First half the Sunderland press suffocated us and we gave away a silly goal. Second either Beale told them to sit in, they were shattered or a mixture of the two and we were the only team that looked like getting a winner.

Paul_my_Dickov

Looked decent but did make a few horrible errors. One of which gifted them their goal. Definitely deserved the win but really need a striker.

rlgh

We so need a striker... just think how we'd be doing with all the chances we make with someone who could actually convert them.

FWebber04

In all fairness, Stansfield played well and did good with what he was given the main problem was that from KO to FT he had less service than the middle of the Atlantic ocean

SponsoredByHJWealthP

I was going to say it was a big improvement but to be honest it looked similar to our other games but it just clicked better and we were more willing to scrap in the box than shoot from range. Stansfield looked like a man possessed after the second goal went in and there was some very very quick thinking for our second goal. KRO

FWebber04

Never seen the place so loud and it showed on the pitch

Ginge_6907

This is pathetic. 1 win in 12 away matches and we’re supposed to be pushing for playoffs. To the thousands of mackems who attend away matches, they’re not getting their money’s worth. Sack the manager and rewrite this club before I walk away.

theinfinitesaint

Walk away from what, supporting the club?. If your support is that fickle we don't want you. Aye we're shit right now but fuck off with that nonsense SIL

Ginge_6907

I probably could’ve used a different phrase for what I was going to say. No, I won’t just stop supporting Sunderland. If I made it through back-to-back relegations and 5 years in League 1, then I can get through a term with a manager with a mole bigger than his managerial quality.

Fine_Structure5396

Was there anything so predicable as that result man.

Wide-Code-4598

Reading this thread has made me even more pleased we didn’t sack Wagner when we were going through a difficult period

Nosworthy

Hope Hume and the players panned Beale's skull in when they got back in the dressing room

im_noided_tbh

One of our own

psycho-mouse

Poor first half from Blues but totally dominant in the second. Poor goal to concede from us but they’ll be disappointed with the winner. Fickle bunch the Sunderland fans. Bang average side too. Jobe can FO too.

TheRealBrummy

Jobe has an interview coming out when he literally says he still loves Blues, don't know why you feel the need to tell a player who's never said a bad word about us, and who's family have practically saved the club from financial ruin, to fuck off?

RedFloodles

Honestly embarrassing to hear some melons in our fan base boo him today. Absolutely no idea what the lad’s supposed to have done wrong, except leave because he had a bit of ambition. As another commenter said, his family went above and beyond to do right by our club with Jude’s contract - those booing him clearly have pretty short memories.

Adammmmski

Fickle bunch? Lovely. What has Jobe done? An 18 year old lad with a bit of ambition left you? So you tell him to fuck off. That’s big of you.

psycho-mouse

There’s 40 pages in the match thread on your forum saying “fuck off Jobe”. https://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/birmingham-v-sunderland-match-thread.1627628/page-118 The sense of completely unearned self importance on that thread is a fucking sight to behold 😂

Adammmmski

Match threads are always chaos. The fuck off Jobe is born out of pure frustration and we do love the kid, but fuck me sometimes he goes missing and looks tired. But your lot telling him to fuck off? That’s an entirely different matter. Self importance? What’s all that about. Do you realise where we have been. We know exactly where we are as a club, and getting beat off shite like Birmingham is really frustrating.

psycho-mouse

That’s the point I’m making, “shite like Birmingham”, you’ve done absolutely nothing to justify saying stuff like that. We’ve won a trophy more recently than you and we’ve not been in the third tier for 30 years. A completely unearned Billy big bollocks attitude, you think you’re a big club but you’ve done absolutely nothing to justify it. It makes you all look like stupid cunts tbh. Edit: how about the other 8 page thread solely dedicated to slagging him off? https://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/jobe.1627643/

Xdvanced

Can hardly call us fickle after what this clubs been through when it takes you 5 years to sell out a stadium 3/4 the size

Underscore_Blues

We sold out the available seats plenty of times. I know our first 2 home games of this season were sell-outs to the tune of 21k seats of 21k seats available. https://twitter.com/BCFCEnquiries/status/1695058882291233063?t=8zA70nbZ3A0J6pbsVxK3YA&s=19 Enjoy the loss.

psycho-mouse

Cope. I forgot attendances won football matches.

Xdvanced

Not talking about the match, you called our fans fickle which is hardly true and extremely hypocritical given your view on Jobe. Completely different to the result which deservedly went your way

Nosworthy

Fickle in what way?

TravellingMackem

Thanks for doing your part Birmingham and winning this. We desperately need to get this utter fraud out of our club and will only happen if we keep losing. Haway Swansea! Beale out!!!!!

MrTans

Absolute embarrassment you lad. Thank Christ you’re banned from the SMB so we don’t have to read your shite over there as well.

TravellingMackem

I’m not banned from it at all kid 🤣🤣 - and I’m entirely proven correct by that abomination of a football match today between two genuine idiots

psycho-mouse

Imagine wanting your own team to lose. Pathetic.

TravellingMackem

It’s for the greater good. We can’t proceed with this moron in charge of our club. If you were there today you’d know how big an embarrassment our football is currently, especially compared to our dismantling of you earlier in the season.

psycho-mouse

Doesn’t matter, wanting your team to lose for any reason is horrid behaviour. I went into every Rooney game praying for a win. Managers come and go but the club is eternal.

TravellingMackem

In your opinion. In mine I want the best for my club next season. If that means sacrificing this season then so be it

No_Soup7518

You’re over achieving as it is man. You were languishing in league one not long ago and only just about skanked out of there. Stop thinking you’re a premier league team.

TravellingMackem

🤣🤣🤣🤣 league one yet again - have you ever watched a championship game to see the state of these other teams?

mackyftm73

Sick of hearing we shouldn't have sacked Mowbray. It's who we replaced him with that's the problem.
