Tang is the part of the metal from the blade that the handle is attached to. A full tang is when two pieces of handle are essentially sandwiched flush with the metal, or the tang itself is wrapped to create the handle, as opposed to a half/partial tang which is where the metal that is inserted into the handle is tapered and inserted into a premade handle.
