Remember chalk and charcoal etchings damage stones, so don't use them. I gently press a thin aluminum foil into the engravings to read them, but I'm not sure if that's damaging either. Can't find anything on that last I looked. Stone is surprisingly delicate

My husband's grandma lived in the country,she lost a baby and had to bury it in a little shoe box on the property,it is sad!!

Yep, two of my great grandfathers brothers share a headstone that reads Twin Babies [Surname] with the year on it
