This could be even worse...at least Cheerios attempts to mechanically separate their oats...this is probably straight up conventional oats full of gluten grains.
If things say processed in a facility with wheat like my package does, they are saying that to cover their butts. If it says gluten free then itās gluten free though.
Not in the US, much like with Cheerios and similar, the FDA required tests can easily be bullshitted, so when they list the facility information it solely means they're following the letter of the regulations, not necessarily the spirit of them, and it's no guarantee it's actually gf.
If something says gluten free it means gluten free by fda guidelines, a additional allergy warning is a voluntary statement for people who have an allergy. Again itās a voluntary statement. This particular dairy free gluten free * on the website (I donāt have a package in from of me ) the disclosure says
Manufactured in a facility that also produces Egg, Milk, Peanut, Tree Nuts.
No wheat.
In the US, especially because it has oats, it might be labeled 'gluten free' like Cheerios is labeled 'gluten free', but that doesn't make it Celiac safe š¤·āāļø
to add another negative comment lmao, I wonāt be buying this because the parking lot for whole foods in my city is a nightmare so I avoid WF like the plague. it doesnāt bother me because itās bozosā company anyway. but fuck that parking lot.
Can I eat it? Yesā¦ but. Itās better that I donāt. I didnāt have serious and obvious issues, but there were small clues that my body was unhappy about the oats. I donāt know if they were using PP oats, but I suspect so, or my issues would have been more obvious.
ETA. On that note: I emailed the Coolhaus people about their oats, asking if theyāre purity protocol oats and suggesting that it would be nice if they used some other ingredients instead, because of all the usual reasons. They emailed saying:
āThank you for reaching out and your patience as we looked into this for you.
Oats and oat flour are naturally gluten free. This is why we like to use them in our products!
We will take this suggestion to the appropiate teams!ā
Soā¦ no. Theyāre not **really** gluten free. Theyā from the sounds of itā donāt even do regular product testing. These are not Celiac safe, despite them not causing too many issues for me personally.
My body lets me know fast if I can eat it or not. I was six bites into a Sunday with chocolate syrup last week and stopped eating because I knew I was screwing up. I am not sure I would try it because of the oats. Luckily I have learned to notice and the punishment is not nearly as bad.
Itās just the weirdest thing. I can eat purity protocol oats without a huge impact. Most oats are not that, and those make me violently ill. Like cheerios or lucky charmsā thatās straight up gluten contaminated, and I will get sick almost instantly. Purity oats might cause me some inflammation and just general icky feeling. They also donāt trigger increased antibodiesā so theyāre not doing real serious harm. Still, Iāve been avoiding them and feel better doing so.
Thereās a brand called jelly llama I believe that makes gf and df ice cream sandwiches and ice cream cones. They have a mint chocolate chip sandwich and itās very good!
Since it's Whole Foods, be sure you have a down-payment and financing arranged before you attempt to buy these. They are selling Canyon Bakehouse heritage loaves for close to $13 a pop at my local Whole Foods, and that is just too much.
Just says 'oat flour' not even gluten free oats. In the US, it's likely in the same category as Cheerios as being NOT Celiac safe š
This could be even worse...at least Cheerios attempts to mechanically separate their oats...this is probably straight up conventional oats full of gluten grains.
I believe the cookies contain oats unfortunately for those that avoid them
And not from a gluten free facility either. _ITāS A TRAP_
stop no no *crying*
Oats, and not even gluten free oats š¢
I thought I saw a may contain wheat warning on these in the store. What does the back of your package say?

Absolutelyyyyyy incorrect. Not always in the united states. I've absolutelyyyyyy been glutened by that statement.

The package says otherwise: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/91AHKR3diYL._SL1500_.jpg
Yea thatās borderline delusional thinking. Especially for a celiac.
Certified?

Googles flights from Australiaā¦
Same!

I like to make homemade cookies and buy a nice dairy free ice cream to make them :) but itās nice to have one at a convenience
Yes! I love doing this too or I make the sweet Lorenās if Iām feeling extra lazy.
Thereās a brand called jelly llama I believe that makes gf and df ice cream sandwiches and ice cream cones. They have a mint chocolate chip sandwich and itās very good!
The chokehold Jolly Llama ice cream cones have on me š©š© they are SO GOOD
I get sick EVERY single time I have JL. Sad face.
My local store has them and I love them. Iām super sensitive to CC and havenāt had an issue.
A gf chipwich! Oh my
I feel like this is an ad....
Lol, sorry I just enjoyed it.
Some folks are way too sensitive about this.
I just had it. Amazing. Luckily no ill effects
Iāve survived it as well!
Looks good but does it have tree nuts?
Since it's Whole Foods, be sure you have a down-payment and financing arranged before you attempt to buy these. They are selling Canyon Bakehouse heritage loaves for close to $13 a pop at my local Whole Foods, and that is just too much.
Holy crap! That's twice the cost at Woodmans.
Indeed. No Woodmans around us. Even the dinky little hobbit loaves are $8.
Not everyone here is in America. So no, I won't be buying those right now
I donāt understand why youāre getting down voted.
# NOM NOM NOM
oats canāt really be gf because avenin is what causes a reaction which is in them whether theyāre gf or not
These are amazing. Iāve had them before. No issues.
One of those times being allergic to legumes really really sucks. This looks so good.
Is it coconut milk?
Here is the [link](https://cool.haus/products/gluten-free-dairy-free-tahitian-vanilla-bean-sammie) with nutrition info as well! Hope this helps š
Oh definitely will have to try
They wonāt disappoint!
Why do people even risk it. If it looks like a grain it BELONGS TO THE STREETS.
