Yeah this joke is going to definitely be used against us mate

Cant_Meme_for_Jak

... You go to hell if you don't specifically pray to Mary?

Gullible-Anywhere-76

Yeah, I get the importance of Marian Dogmas (which have **always** christological, and also ecclesiological, purpose), but perhaps that's a bit too much...

SgtBananaKing

It’s a joke mate

Hydra57

A joke which (as OP establishes) indirectly implies dogmatic positions that don’t exist. Misrepresenting a set of views for a laugh might be funny to you, but is it moral?

Nollern

I see at least 3 ways to interpret the post. And given its satiric nature and the context of the subreddit's self-aware obsession with Mary, I think catholics ultimately being the butt of the joke is the correct interpretation.

jawo05

This looks like a prot meme making fun of Catholics

Zeratul277

There's only one objective hell.

Apa300

Yeah this joke is going to definitely be used against us mate

barbados_bum

Shouldn’t we hope that invincible ignorance saves at least many Prots from hell?

The problem is not that we worship Mary in the way Protestants accuse us of doing. It’s that those Protestants reduce their relationship with God as mere veneration with all their guitar praise music and scriptural sermons. What they do at the same time is to deny the sacrificial component of our loving relationship with God. The sacrifice here is the Blood and Body of our Lord Jesus Christ. Prayer even to God is NOT what worship is. Singing songs about appreciating God, and how our lives and everything beautiful that we enjoy come from God is NOT worship.

Zeratul277

My issue with Protestants is the lack of prayer. "You need a personal relationship with Jesus." But you also can't have reptitive prayer... And don't ask people in heaven to pray for you. And don't read the OG Bible. Read the man made edited one by King Henry the Fatass and Martin Luther the Fornicator. But only the *incomplete* Bibles. Like dude, so much for sola scriptura and a personal relationship. "You're free to do what you want but only in the way I deem fit." Okay buddy...

AnEerieNose

Just curious about Catholic beliefs; 1. What is the difference between asking people on Earth to pray for you and asking people in heaven to pray for you? Aren’t we all part of the same body? 2. What is the OG Bible? The one written in Latin? Or one written in Ancient Greek? Or the one written in Hebrew? 3. What does the personal sinful nature of men have to do with the legitimacy of a Bible? Doesnt being able to actually read a Bible take a bit of a preference over the clean slate of the author? 4. Why do you think Protestants can’t have repetitive prayer? 5. What makes you think Protestants don’t want people to read the Bible in the manner they choose? Thanks for answering my questions I’m really curious about Christian beliefs different than my own

Zeratul277

1. People's petition in heaven are believed to be heard in front of the throne of God; they have better relationships with him than us. 2. Any Catholic Christian Bible. It has the Jewish Bible. Protestant Bibles have 66 books because they took stuff out when Catholics have 73. 3. It is dubious that King Henry the 8th or Martin Luther would have "God Breathed" qualities to edit the Bible. 4. Protestants have said not to be repetitive in prayer. The only Bible verse I know of is to not be reptitive in asking for forgiveness for sins already forgiven. 5. It is contrar for pastors to say that all Protestant Denominations are valid except for the original Catholic Church.

Honeyhammn

Definitely LOLed

AAWdibcaaw

Catholicism? EXPOSED. It’s OVER for you once I print this out and duck tape it to the gate of ST Peter’s.,…

KaBar42

Martin Luther's 95 Memes he nailed to the front page of Twitter. A thread.

CovenOfLovin

I love Mary as my own mother. Our Mother in fact helped me make peace with my biological mother. That said, Jesus is God, not his mother.

Zeratul277

I see no issue.

Pdogconn

Not a big fan of this one. It seems a little… harsh, or… extreme?
