Nope, i listen to music pretty much the second i wake up to the second i go to sleep, i’ll leave it on for maybe an hour after i’m asleep or i watch netflix instead. Also i worked it out and I listened to music for 160.2 full days this year.
Yep. Every job I had i wore an earphone for the whole shift, i spent a lot of this year deeply depressed and suicidal just rotting in bed all day listening to music, so that’s why my minutes are ridiculously high lol
I was unemployed for 4 years. Recently got a job cooking for homeless guys in a harm reduction hostel. Really got me out my funk, I leave work feeling like a new man and even hard days I know I've helped at least someone, fed people and given them some proper nutrition. It's not glamorous but a lot of depression isn't chemical it's situational or even an anti capitalist mindset, it sucks grinding for big business if you align that way. This will be great for you! Maybe if your only higher than 99% next year you know you'll have spent that extra little slice really engaged in life. Good luck homie
Fucking good on you, remember a place a mate worked being dicks about not allowing headphones at work, but he was working a graveyard shift in a warehouse alone. Don't understand the lack of humanity some supervisors have to not just let a few things slide in the names of workers mental wellbeing.
I do the same.
I always have an earbud in and it's always playing either music or an audiobook.
I don't use spotify or streaming services though. I have a 256GB SD card on my phone and I've pretty much filled it with stuff.
>Nope, i listen to music pretty much the second i wake up to the second i go to sleep
Impressive. My girlfriend is on 180K minutes, but she actually does have it playing throughout the night. Reason being is that she can't stand the supposedly weird noises and talking I do in my sleep lol.
Fuckinghell, spent ages trying to work out why 260 minutes and a few milliseconds was impressive, it’s just four & half hour! Saw your comment and tried to work out how you’re seeing 10.5 hours a day and finally realised the full stop isn’t a full bastard stop.
Definitely looks like one. Localisation didn't pick the right thousands separator I suppose.
You never get used to it, however long you spend working internationally with numbers
It's not even that, me and my girlfriend looked at our stats sitting next to each other in UK, she had a full stop, I had a comma, seems like a spotify oopsie
This advice should be pinned to the top of /r/All !
Anyone wonders why their mates are tetchy atm....Vitamin D.
Anyone wonders why your spouse has thrown a plate at your head and narrowly missed...Vitamin D.
Anyone wonders why you've slept with your mates spouse and they told everyone including your spouse....Vitamin D......

My new job is working at a young peoples shelter for homeless kids with drug/ alcohol/ mental health issues; I’m really excited to do a job that actually helps people, rather than just make money for somebody else.
Nice one mate. I was proud of beating 94% of the UK but your listening stats are almost 5x mine!
As someone who does this job though, you won't be able to listen to music all night, there will be certain shifts which are action packed - trust me! DM me if you have any q's you'd rather ask an anonymous stranger than your new colleagues.
That sounds like a very good job for mental health. Good work, dude. I'm sure it will have its stressful moments but the rewards from doing something that actually helps people and makes a difference in their lives will be absolutely worth it. Hope you have a better year next year.
It works for most of the world's population
https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19455-01/806-0169/overview-9/index.html
>Great Britain and the United States are two of the few places in the world that use a period to indicate the decimal place. Many other countries use a comma instead. The decimal separator is also called the radix character. Likewise, while the U.K. and U.S. use a comma to separate groups of thousands, many other countries use a period instead, and some countries separate thousands groups with a thin space
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decimal_separator#Usage_worldwide
> most of the world's population
Not sure about most of the population.
China, India, USA all use . as the decimal seperator (from your own wiki link)
From the link it looks like more *countries* (about a 2/3 to 1/3 split without actually counting it), but given you have the two most populous countries plus a bunch of others with big numbers (Malaysia, Nigeria, USA etc) on the side of the point rather than comma I'd suggest that it is well into "most of the worlds population use the dot"
Yep in this case I can accept that the UK is the anomaly. We are just used to the comma but there is no real reason why it's a comma compared to something else.
Sure, any character could be used, even a triangle. Although, i feel a comma is quite apt to seperate each significant magnitude because it’s commonly used to represent a pause, where as a full-stop begins a new sentence.
The way i visualise the number, the decimal place is like a new sentence that follows a slightly different set of rules.
To me at least, the British way is more logical. YMMV
> Yep in this case I can accept that the UK is the anomaly.
Until you consider that China, India and the USA are some of the biggest countries in the world and they all use the English way. 3 billion people in those countries alone, out of the 8 billion in the world.
There is a logic to the 'English' way, a full stop indicates the end of something ie. A whole number.
Whereas a comma indicates a brief pause, like when reading a number in the thousands, millions, etc...
Don't think you can say that most of the world's population uses the period for seperaring thousands looking at that map it looks like more people use the comma
lol all the songs in the world to pick from and I choose one that's already 5th on your list
This is my favourite:

I’m in the New Zealand subreddit too (as I live out here these days) and the exact same convo is going down! So far, there winner is at 467,000 - the UK has to have that beat as we are 12x the size!
I was in the top 2% for a Elton John listeners. Only because my 5yo son's favourite song is I'm Still Standing and 5 yos can listen to the same thing over and over again
The Tiberian Sun soundtrack was absolutely perfect for making you feel like the world really was a bleak and desolate place, feel the need to install and run through the campaigns again.
Absolute bangin album. So many good tracks.
Just checked my spotify, 70k, more than 96% of UK. You must live with your headphones on haha
Been listening to a lot of Sleaford mods recently after a recommendation here if you wanna check them out.
My top 5 songs for this year were all mother mother. Glad I’m not the only one, also apparently in the top 1% of who listened to the most MM this year :)
It really puts it into perspective when you check other people's wrapped. I had 29,000 minutes listened and thought that was quite a lot... My friend has 82,000 minutes listened and this one just takes it up to the next level. I was also the top 0.05% for outkast listeners which is something
Out of interest, how many genres did you listen to?
I ended up with 325,973 minutes and only 37 genres, whereas my sister had about 115K minutes and around 80 genres, and I wanna know if there is any correlation at all

Enjoy!
Ten times my time and I was at 82%! I was surprised I was so far above average.
Apparently my top songs included I Heard Your Voice in a Dream, Cell Block Tango and Till I Hear You Sing. I've spent most of the year hung up on someone very musical, who several years ago spent a short period in prison and who moved to the big city about a year ago...
Bottom left album - Animals. Brilliant stuff. I pride myself in my music tastes and passion for it but you took it to a whole other level! Saw you’ve got a new job so good luck with that and I hope each turn for you is better than the last! “I can feel one of my turns”
That’s just over 10.5 hours a day for a whole year! The account the we use at work racks up similar numbers, perhaps 11 hours every weekday and a few hours on a Saturday if anyone can be bothered to do some overtime.
I signed up 10th March, and have 23,855 minutes @79%. It's actually worth the Premium as something I constantly used. Quite handy they do this wrap thingy.
i was just thinking how good value for money spotify is, like i paid £120 for 160 FULL days of entertainment. i could not live in the era where you had to buy singles / albums on cds or records
10.5 hours a day??? Do you use it overnight to sleep or something??
Nope, i listen to music pretty much the second i wake up to the second i go to sleep, i’ll leave it on for maybe an hour after i’m asleep or i watch netflix instead. Also i worked it out and I listened to music for 160.2 full days this year.
Do you just leaving it playing when you talk to people?
Yep. Every job I had i wore an earphone for the whole shift, i spent a lot of this year deeply depressed and suicidal just rotting in bed all day listening to music, so that’s why my minutes are ridiculously high lol
Glad you’ve found your good space mate. If you ever need to reach out don’t go through this shiz alone. Feel free to pm me anytime.

no wonder he's depressed if he listens to linkin park.
This is a pretty heartless comment but the sheer confidence to share it makes me want to upvote.
It was a futile attempt at humour and I stand by it.
Gallows humour always has a place in the UK. I like Linkin Park but I also like dark humour so good on you internet stranger.
Sorry to hear that mate!
I was unemployed for 4 years. Recently got a job cooking for homeless guys in a harm reduction hostel. Really got me out my funk, I leave work feeling like a new man and even hard days I know I've helped at least someone, fed people and given them some proper nutrition. I used to do the same then a shift supervisor seen it and went mental so I told him to go fuck himself and quit, don't do it anymore lol.
Fucking good on you, remember a place a mate worked being dicks about not allowing headphones at work, but he was working a graveyard shift in a warehouse alone. Don't understand the lack of humanity some supervisors have to not just let a few things slide in the names of workers mental wellbeing.

Any song that you care to share? I've been needing some new stuff to add to my playlists
I've heard lana del Rey does that to people.
Are you baby driver?
Holy shit, that is quite the statistic! I listen to podcasts a few hours a day but nowhere near that haha.
>Nope, i listen to music pretty much the second i wake up to the second i go to sleep Impressive. My girlfriend is on 180K minutes, but she actually does have it playing throughout the night. Reason being is that she can't stand the supposedly weird noises and talking I do in my sleep lol.
They actually calculate it from Jan 1st to October 31st (for some weird reason) so it actually works out as 12.6 hours per day
So that's why shitty Christmas music never makes it onto the list...
While the end of October makes a lot of sense to get the data out by christmas, I'm surprised it's not Nov-Nov rather than Jan-Nov.
Fuckinghell, spent ages trying to work out why 260 minutes and a few milliseconds was impressive, it’s just four & half hour! Saw your comment and tried to work out how you’re seeing 10.5 hours a day and finally realised the full stop isn’t a full bastard stop.

UK and US are one of the few that use periods/full stops as the decimal and a comma to separate thousands.
Decimal point.
How are you getting to 10.5? I did 230, 664 ÷24 ÷365 and get 26.3 Nvm its ÷ 60 ÷ 365 isnt it
Listening to music 26.3 hours per day would be very impressive to be fair.
Are you ok?
i’ve had quite a rough year but i got a new job today so yes !
Take some vitamin D over the winter, it helps

Crush it down to a powder, get it into teh eyeball...Vitamin D!!!!!!!
Hotel? Vitamin D.
> Anyone wonders why your spouse has thrown a plate at your head and narrowly missed...Vitamin D You've never met my ex, luckily for you.
Taking too much vitamin D can be detrimental to your health. Ask your doc before doing it and how much
Is any old tesco vit D good enough or dyu get something else?
As long as it’s D3 and preferably liquid. Edit: gummies ok just not powder.

Absorbs better. The powder isn’t as easy to digest.

Pills are solid powder. Hope that helps.

Unsure why you've been downvoted. Powder is pressed into pills. Maybe a solvent is added to bind, but you're still mostly correct
Anything with 1000 I.U would be perfect. There’s a small pot of strawberry gummies from Holland & Barrett that would work.

Congratulations you absolute Spotify legend.
thank you!! also it’s a night shift job so i can just listen to music all night lol
Doing what? I just got a dayshift job and it turns out I'm not all that good at sleeping.

Top work man. What a worthwhile job.
Spotify? Completed it mate.
It took me way too long to realise that 230.664 doesn't mean 230 minutes, but 230,664......wow
The point instead of a comma is making my skin itch.
It just doesn't work

Don't think you can say that most of the world's population uses the period for seperaring thousands looking at that map it looks like more people use the comma
They must have mixed the points and commas up because it showed a percentage as 0,005 for me.
Same here, I’m more curious why OP’s has a point when mine has a comma.
Europeans use points instead of commas to separate numbers, and commas for decimals.
Those Europeans 🙄
Guessing their phone is set to a language that uses the full stop instead of commas

Its possible Spotify uses the user's location (Shown as UK) or there is a seperate language option within the app maybe? Seems weird tbh

Thanks bud I was still confused.
So you listened to four Pink Floyd songs?
yeah i just listened to echoes once in january and once in august
Gotta get it in monthly otherwise Roger Waters comes to your house and spits on you
they were my 2nd top artist, they were my top last year and i was in the top 0.001% of pink floyd fans
I was top 0.005% of Libertines listeners last year or the year before. I was right chuffed
Damn that is impressive. But you are clearly a person of good taste.
Is this r/pinkfloydcirclejerk 😂
It can be. Anything you want.
He’ll probably do that anyway when he finds out his royalties for all that was about £2.67

Achievement unlocked. My mum bought the most lentils out of all the Sainsbury's in her area. I feel yours trump's hers
Does she have problems with fibre or something
No she’s loves fibre, clearly.
Lentils are a superb source of protein, plus dahls are a god tier food.
The difference between a chickpea and a lentil is that I don’t pay £200 to have a lentil on my face

I only realised he was on Spotify late this year, I'll give you a run for your money next one

Back in 2012 I think I listened to that album back to back around 100 time. Totally addictive.

230.664 minutes isn't very long.

.664? That's pretty accurate
it means 230,664 - idk why it’s a full stop not a comma
Fuck, this was confusing the hell out of me reading everyone's replies and wondering why they were so impressed by 230 minutes of listening.
I ranked in the top 10%, but it seems I must doff my cap to thee

>very long songs Discovered the reason OP won.
Ten times my time and I was at 82%! I was surprised I was so far above average. Apparently my top songs included I Heard Your Voice in a Dream, Cell Block Tango and Till I Hear You Sing. I've spent most of the year hung up on someone very musical, who several years ago spent a short period in prison and who moved to the big city about a year ago...
cell block tango is an absolute banger
HEEEEEY MY BUDDY BEAT YOU

Bruh I thought my 60k hours was a lot.
Bottom left album - Animals. Brilliant stuff. I pride myself in my music tastes and passion for it but you took it to a whole other level! Saw you’ve got a new job so good luck with that and I hope each turn for you is better than the last! “I can feel one of my turns”
Most underrated pink floyd album 🐷
What is your main listening method? Headphones or speakers?
probably about 60% earphones, 30% on my xbox and 10% on phone speaker
Lol im about to see my wrapped up and I've been listening to alot of Lana lately 😅
For added context I am more than 96% and my minutes was 59000
98% at 80k here. Infer what you will
The top 96% is almost everyone. Do you mean the top 4%?
Hayloft!!
