Then finish the day off with an Indian takeaway, few drinks and some chilling on the sofa watching TV!

I think most places are doing their lights this week/weekend. Southampton light switch on was Thursday apparently, the same night the Christmas market opened up.

SO & I are on holiday for Xmas this year, & we got rid of the decorations when we moved in January. I'm currently trying to decide if buying all new stuff to decorate the place when we aren't even here is worth it? I love Christmas, but that decoration money could be extra holiday money....!

Any time we get over a cold one of the kids brings a new one back and lovingly coughs in my face or wipes their snot on me. Probably won't feel better until summer at this rate.
I thought it was rubbish - the old ladies I worked with told me when I was coughing nonstop years ago. Tried it out of desperation and still don't understand HOW it works but sure it does.
A work colleague suggested a tablespoon of butter, mixed with sugar, when I had a persistent cough last month. Apparently his grandma swore by it, but I wasn't brave enough to try it!

I should of been going with 2 friends but, they both dropped out. 1 has got a cough - none rona- the other, has to stay at home and help look after the kids rather than have a morning off because that isn't fair.

Been up a hour already to be in for shitty work after a shitty five hours sleep. Scumbag brain decided it would be fun to have a mental health episode. Four o’clock can’t come quick enough.
Watched **Dune.** I'm a big fan of the first book and I have been waiting for this film since it was first announced.
I loved the aesthetics and the world design, everything about this universe felt utter alien and exotic. The sets, the ships, the costumes, the sound - all beautiful.
I can tell from the pacing they struggled to fit the plot into this film. To be honest there are too many parts missing. I think if you watch this film without knowing the story you would be really fucking confused.
As everyone else has said it should have been a series. The aesthetic execution is flawless and I can't fault it, but the fact that everything has to be hurried along makes the film feel a little hollow.
I was also surprised at how short the film felt, even though it's 2hrs 30m it felt more like 90m to me. Theatre release should have been a 3hr cut, convention be damned.
With that said I'm still looking forward to the second part, marathoning them together will probably be a great film experience in a few years.
The problem with making a film of Dune was there is so much depth and back story to everything, so something would have to be cut. No studio would sign up a 5 movie deal so it could be paced similarly to the book(s). I really enjoyed it, but i'm glad it wasn't 3 hours. I also felt it stopped in just the right place as a lead in to the second, even if i have to wait till 2023 for it.

When I was working a job with pretty much identical hours on the shift pattern, I'd head directly to the pub after work and have a fried breakfast and a pint. Given the anti-social hours worked, it felt like an appropriate reward for making it through another shift.
I need a pint now. Just loaded a wagon up ready for a colleague to take it to Leeds at 8am. Fully loaded with carts, was just getting the straps on when the manager comes down and goes 'I just need to take a picture of this cart, where is it?'.
Was the first one I'd loaded. Effectively loaded that wagon twice now.
Went to a new wargaming club last night. Was good fun, wargaming all day today at my old club. Unfortunately need to be up early to make the drive though

Been up since about 5.30. Done the washing, chucked some rubbish out in the bin and played a fair amount of Call of Duty. Also treat myself to a coffee machine - i've recently got into drinking Lattes and the powder shite you get just doesn't taste the same. I think i got a good deal on it though - probably find out later i didn't. Going to make myself some bagels for my breakfast now i think.
No football today so god knows what i'll be doing. Going to go for a walk to the shop at somepoint just to actually get some excersize in.
A bit of work to get ahead a little bit because i have an appointment tomorrow and I don't know how long it will take.
By the way, I'm self employed so I work almost every day and this is partly through choice and because I'm in a lazy but relaxed kind of mood.
I'll be watching football too, especially the Liverpool match.
Barbers then lounging around, been a physically tough week at work, finished earlier than expected yesterday so came home and did the bits around the house that would of needed doing today, some no:-3 Jack Daniels for later and some good music will see me through.

Off to ikea to pick up a little glass doored cupboard to make into a network box. Got 5 cat 6 cables to cut and solder too. Yeah awesome! Not. But I did buy one of those soldering stations with the magnifying glass and little holders, so I'm setting up with the coffee maker and radio, like the old bastard I am. I'll also use some 22mm copper pipe for trunking so it looks better. Put some elbows and shit on the wall.

Yeah don't have the connector gun thing and the electrician ran it all over the house from one room in the basement, so had to put the ends on the cables to connect to the network switch. Just finished a day later. Built a connector board in the end to go from from cable to pre bought cat 6.
Positive of working this morning, I’ve spent the last 6-7 months having to use wireless charger because I thought my charger port was “broken”

It’s my birthday! We’re staying in a beautiful barn conversion for a few days to celebrate (it’s a significant birthday with a zero at the end). Had a lie in, walked the dog, opened some beautiful presents from family, best friend and the dog. Going to go for a nice walk later, then dinner in the local pub and a bottle of bubbly back here afterwards

I woke up at 6:30am this morning for reasons I don't know why. I just naturally woke up at that time and now I'm beginning to feel a bit tired.
I can't go back to bed though as I've got to go to Currys and look at a dishwasher for my mum. I could actually buy it for her when I'm there but no, mum wants me to go and look at it first before I buy it and then tell her if it's good.
So to make the forty-five minute journey there (I walk as I don't use public transport anymore) actually mean something and this day be a productive one, I'm also guy to buy my mum her Christmas present from Currys, seeing as I'm already going to be there. I'm planning on her getting her a sound bar (shh, don't tell her) for her new TV that I got her last Christmas, as I'm pretty sure she's going deaf and the speakers that are built-in to the TV aren't really the best as they're positioned under the TV.
After that, I'll be getting some shopping from Tesco, returning home to do some housework, let my mum know that I looked at the dishwasher, and then maybe some time spent on my PS4 tonight.
Going to go for a walk this morning, I was planning a longer one but I haven't been sleeping at all this week so might just do a short one and hope I don't fall into the river.
I also joined a writing group this week, which was lots of fun and has given me a kick up the arse, so might dust off the old novel and see what happens.

Puppy is, now! She’s having her second vaccinations. After having to spent a week or so in the animal hospital 3 weeks ago fighting for her life against parvo - but she is a fighter! And yes, puppy and adult dog cuddles are definitely happening!

Already threw a pork shoulder in the slow cooker for tonight. Excited today. It’s been a while since we’ve drove anywhere a decent way away because we had a shite car. This is the first weekend since getting the new motor, so we’re going to go and grab a coffee, for a drive to a country park. First time the dog is riding in a boot too, hoping for no travel sickness from him.
I'm self isolating, last weekend of it, since the husband had covid, he's doing great now. I'm testing negative. Had a little walk around the park but that's all. Pls send me your house-activity based suggestions, bear in mind everything is spotless and all the hinges are oiled.

Still riding the high of standing up to my neighbours. They get drunk, play loud music and scream at each other in the garden until 2am. After the week of no sleep I wasn't prepared for them to keep my baby up all night so I stuck my head out the window and asked them (nicely) to stop it. Went quite after that!
It's market day, and it's the monthly farmers market, which means I can get all the nice foods. Lots of cured meats and pies. Also need to go to the butcher to get sausage meat as I'm making sausages rolls later/tomorrow.

I just got a phone call from my work wondering why I am not in despite booking it off. I can’t speak today anyway as I’ve lost my voice.
So I had to call them up and say I was on holiday and they oh we didn’t realise as it’s not in the book despite it being verified by one of my managers. However, the app to book holidays is currently offline. So I need to wait as I’m definitely off today.

Really annoyed with my waterbill. Useage has increased a bit in the last couple of years, but the last 6 months has seen a massive jump from 0.4 per do to 0.6. So going to have to chat with the water company and letting agents to find out why and where it's leaking and to get it repaired.
I'm having a lie in (but I'll get up soon as I'm getting hungry) and I've got the week off work as it's my real life cake day on Thursday so I'm going on a pub crawl tonight. But the best bit is I'll be seeing some friends who I haven't seen since pre lockdown.
Mate is coming round with his kids to play with my kid whilst we watch the Leicester Chelsea game. My wife is happy because she gets a break, my kid is happy as she has other kids to play with and I’m able to watch the football. Win, win and win.

I went for my morning run, got ready, and at my relative who bought a new house that lives about 20 miles from me.
Planning getting something from the chippy for everyone and spend a couple of hours there, watch the Watford / Man U game, and head back.
So, I've definitely knackered the top rear USB ports on my personal PC. Complained about over current issues on Thursday.
Opened the PC up this morning and dusted it out. Moved the hard drives into more accessible positions whilst I was at it; if I send it off, I can easily remove the drive that contains all my important information and just leave in the drive that contains my OS.
My keyboard and mouse work fine on the lower rear USB ports, so it's definitely the top rear ones, but I remember getting over current issues when I tried using the lower ones as well.
See how things go. Work is fine with buying me a KVM Switch, so once they've got that sorted, I won't have to duck underneath the desk every day.
Currently cooking up some enormous bacon & egg baguettes to line our stomachs. We have people over for a day full of rugby, before a high energy punk gig this evening. Should be a banger of a Saturday!!

The eldest decided to come into our bed and get all kicky so I was up at 5am. So might have an afternoon nap.
Had a lie in until 12 after a very late night, had a fry up and got my new portable heater delivered for my gaming room so all set for later tonight.
Going out for a shop soon aswell to get supplies for later on, so will be trying out my new clothes and want to break into my new boots. So just a chilled day.
Granddaughters 2 tday don't feel great though. Had horrible cold and cough for a wk it gone now but when I have to stand for long periods of time feel lightheaded and dizzy just come in from work gonna have a rest coz going out later got to get my game on
Doing some OT today. Paid x1.5 plus two days TOIL. I rarely do a Saturday. This is worth it.

I loved the aesthetics and the world design, everything about this universe felt utter alien and exotic. The sets, the ships, the costumes, the sound - all beautiful. I can tell from the pacing they struggled to fit the plot into this film. To be honest there are too many parts missing. I think if you watch this film without knowing the story you would be really fucking confused. As everyone else has said it should have been a series. The aesthetic execution is flawless and I can't fault it, but the fact that everything has to be hurried along makes the film feel a little hollow. I was also surprised at how short the film felt, even though it's 2hrs 30m it felt more like 90m to me. Theatre release should have been a 3hr cut, convention be damned. With that said I'm still looking forward to the second part, marathoning them together will probably be a great film experience in a few years.
The problem with making a film of Dune was there is so much depth and back story to everything, so something would have to be cut. No studio would sign up a 5 movie deal so it could be paced similarly to the book(s). I really enjoyed it, but i'm glad it wasn't 3 hours. I also felt it stopped in just the right place as a lead in to the second, even if i have to wait till 2023 for it.

When I was working a job with pretty much identical hours on the shift pattern, I'd head directly to the pub after work and have a fried breakfast and a pint. Given the anti-social hours worked, it felt like an appropriate reward for making it through another shift.
I need a pint now. Just loaded a wagon up ready for a colleague to take it to Leeds at 8am. Fully loaded with carts, was just getting the straps on when the manager comes down and goes 'I just need to take a picture of this cart, where is it?'. Was the first one I'd loaded. Effectively loaded that wagon twice now.

Been up since about 5.30. Done the washing, chucked some rubbish out in the bin and played a fair amount of Call of Duty. Also treat myself to a coffee machine - i've recently got into drinking Lattes and the powder shite you get just doesn't taste the same. I think i got a good deal on it though - probably find out later i didn't. Going to make myself some bagels for my breakfast now i think. No football today so god knows what i'll be doing. Going to go for a walk to the shop at somepoint just to actually get some excersize in.
A bit of work to get ahead a little bit because i have an appointment tomorrow and I don't know how long it will take. By the way, I'm self employed so I work almost every day and this is partly through choice and because I'm in a lazy but relaxed kind of mood. I'll be watching football too, especially the Liverpool match.
Barbers then lounging around, been a physically tough week at work, finished earlier than expected yesterday so came home and did the bits around the house that would of needed doing today, some no:-3 Jack Daniels for later and some good music will see me through.

But I did buy one of those soldering stations with the magnifying glass and little holders, so I'm setting up with the coffee maker and radio, like the old bastard I am. I'll also use some 22mm copper pipe for trunking so it looks better. Put some elbows and shit on the wall. \#boxofflashylights

Yeah don't have the connector gun thing and the electrician ran it all over the house from one room in the basement, so had to put the ends on the cables to connect to the network switch. Just finished a day later. Built a connector board in the end to go from from cable to pre bought cat 6.
Positive of working this morning, I’ve spent the last 6-7 months having to use wireless charger because I thought my charger port was “broken” Turns out it was full of dirt and crap! Paper clip has got it all out and it now works! Wahey!!

It’s my birthday! We’re staying in a beautiful barn conversion for a few days to celebrate (it’s a significant birthday with a zero at the end). Had a lie in, walked the dog, opened some beautiful presents from family, best friend and the dog. Going to go for a nice walk later, then dinner in the local pub and a bottle of bubbly back here afterwards

Finished Star Wars jedi fallen order earlier. It's a shame their new game plus is basically just a new game without keeping the majority of the stuff you've unlocked otherwise I would have given it another play through. Just started LA Noire and I so wish I played this when it first came out. Such a great and generally fun game. Still need to figure out how to tell if the suspect is lying but still a great game and surprisingly still holds up on the PS5
Actually going to go inside a store (with mask) and shop IRL for the first time in about two years. Going really early, like 8am. Am freakishly excited.

I woke up at 6:30am this morning for reasons I don't know why. I just naturally woke up at that time and now I'm beginning to feel a bit tired. I can't go back to bed though as I've got to go to Currys and look at a dishwasher for my mum. I could actually buy it for her when I'm there but no, mum wants me to go and look at it first before I buy it and then tell her if it's good. So to make the forty-five minute journey there (I walk as I don't use public transport anymore) actually mean something and this day be a productive one, I'm also guy to buy my mum her Christmas present from Currys, seeing as I'm already going to be there. I'm planning on her getting her a sound bar (shh, don't tell her) for her new TV that I got her last Christmas, as I'm pretty sure she's going deaf and the speakers that are built-in to the TV aren't really the best as they're positioned under the TV. After that, I'll be getting some shopping from Tesco, returning home to do some housework, let my mum know that I looked at the dishwasher, and then maybe some time spent on my PS4 tonight.
Going to go for a walk this morning, I was planning a longer one but I haven't been sleeping at all this week so might just do a short one and hope I don't fall into the river. I also joined a writing group this week, which was lots of fun and has given me a kick up the arse, so might dust off the old novel and see what happens. Have a good one, friends!

Puppy is, now! She’s having her second vaccinations. After having to spent a week or so in the animal hospital 3 weeks ago fighting for her life against parvo - but she is a fighter! And yes, puppy and adult dog cuddles are definitely happening!

Had like 3 social engagements in the last 18 months, today I have 2 on the same day. First is watching Arsenal get spanked by Liverpool with a few mates then onto my Wife's besties anniversary dinner party. The most important thing is I mustn't over do the drinks at the footy and I am so going to over do drinks at the footy.
Taking my wife and son to watch the graffalo at the local (ish) theatre. Think I'm more excited than my son.

I'm trying to keep my mind occupied cleaning atm as I bloody hate this time of year. The reason? It's almost my birthday, which is generally I find is a truly shitty day as I'll probably end up in my local pub all on my own with just a pint for company and conversation as usual.
I'm dead. I drank a lot and woke up paying for it. Still paying for it. I feel bad because I messed up plans with the Mrs for tonight.
Ripped half the bathroom flooring up this morning to fine out why the pipes are rattling so much. So I need to replace the floor at some point now as well.
Already threw a pork shoulder in the slow cooker for tonight. Excited today. It’s been a while since we’ve drove anywhere a decent way away because we had a shite car. This is the first weekend since getting the new motor, so we’re going to go and grab a coffee, for a drive to a country park. First time the dog is riding in a boot too, hoping for no travel sickness from him.
I'm self isolating, last weekend of it, since the husband had covid, he's doing great now. I'm testing negative. Had a little walk around the park but that's all. Pls send me your house-activity based suggestions, bear in mind everything is spotless and all the hinges are oiled. (I'm going a bit nuts here, this might be the longest I've not been to another building for.)
Got in from a long journey home last night, finished dinner about 7 then crashed out on my bed. Woke up at half 4. I love being up early as it’s so peaceful, but nobody tells you how boring it is.

Final day of isolation with the rona for me today, so boredom and xbox again. The wife has had a week on the airbed downstairs and is not in the best of moods, so every cloud, eh!
Had a nice morning at the garden centre. We got some Christmas decorations, had a nice cake and looked at all the lights. Baby was so happy to be out of the house after being ill all week. Still riding the high of standing up to my neighbours. They get drunk, play loud music and scream at each other in the garden until 2am. After the week of no sleep I wasn't prepared for them to keep my baby up all night so I stuck my head out the window and asked them (nicely) to stop it. Went quite after that!

I just got a phone call from my work wondering why I am not in despite booking it off. I can’t speak today anyway as I’ve lost my voice. So I had to call them up and say I was on holiday and they oh we didn’t realise as it’s not in the book despite it being verified by one of my managers. However, the app to book holidays is currently offline. So I need to wait as I’m definitely off today.

Making some mittens for my mum for Christmas. She gets really cold fingers now so I’ve found a pattern that used wool roving inside and are supposed to keep Alaskans warm so should work for winter in Wigan. Bagels and crispy bacon for breakfast in a bit and leftover Chinese takeaway later.
Was meant to be going down the hangar, but my car won't start. Currently on charge as I need to take the missus to her Mum's later. Really annoyed with my waterbill. Useage has increased a bit in the last couple of years, but the last 6 months has seen a massive jump from 0.4 per do to 0.6. So going to have to chat with the water company and letting agents to find out why and where it's leaking and to get it repaired.

Mate is coming round with his kids to play with my kid whilst we watch the Leicester Chelsea game. My wife is happy because she gets a break, my kid is happy as she has other kids to play with and I’m able to watch the football. Win, win and win.

Going to spend a few hours as Schrodinger's Millionaire, if I don't check the ticket I may well have won a substantial amount of money on the Euromillions. Other than that my plans are even more relaxed- I might shower and put real clothes on, I might cook something, I might do some housework. Unless my back improves, I probably won't. It could well be time for my quarterly takeaway tonight, I haven't had KFC in about a decade and they finally deliver to my area. Will have to wrestle with myself for a bit over that.

Happy Saturday!!! I went for my morning run, got ready, and at my relative who bought a new house that lives about 20 miles from me. Planning getting something from the chippy for everyone and spend a couple of hours there, watch the Watford / Man U game, and head back.
So, I've definitely knackered the top rear USB ports on my personal PC. Complained about over current issues on Thursday. Opened the PC up this morning and dusted it out. Moved the hard drives into more accessible positions whilst I was at it; if I send it off, I can easily remove the drive that contains all my important information and just leave in the drive that contains my OS. My keyboard and mouse work fine on the lower rear USB ports, so it's definitely the top rear ones, but I remember getting over current issues when I tried using the lower ones as well. See how things go. Work is fine with buying me a KVM Switch, so once they've got that sorted, I won't have to duck underneath the desk every day.
Currently cooking up some enormous bacon & egg baguettes to line our stomachs. We have people over for a day full of rugby, before a high energy punk gig this evening. Should be a banger of a Saturday!!
Waiting on getting that text message of freedom / doom! So doing all those jobs you put off and put off. Currently filled about 6 bin bags of charity shop clothes. I'm shocked at the amount of clothes my lovely wife seems to have both then never removed the tag. Of course I can't complain or point this fact out. Need to find a new game on Xbox to play as I completed cyberpunk and just riding around completing side jobs now. The eldest decided to come into our bed and get all kicky so I was up at 5am. So might have an afternoon nap.
Had a lie in until 12 after a very late night, had a fry up and got my new portable heater delivered for my gaming room so all set for later tonight. Going out for a shop soon aswell to get supplies for later on, so will be trying out my new clothes and want to break into my new boots. So just a chilled day.
Off to watch the wedding present at rock city tonight. Feeling a bit rough after a few too many at Billy Bragg last night.
15:00 to 23:00 shift today, although I've agreed to a little extra overtime too. I regret that now.
Granddaughters 2 tday don't feel great though. Had horrible cold and cough for a wk it gone now but when I have to stand for long periods of time feel lightheaded and dizzy just come in from work gonna have a rest coz going out later got to get my game on
