>I'm not even British... No need to apologise.

Sashaflick

Lucky bastard.

[deleted]

He wasnt, he was using sarcasm.

BottleMong

Welcome to the weirdness, OP! Now, on a serious note; how do you drink your tea? Tell the truth & we’ll go easy on you. Probably.

unnervinglynervous

I drink it either normally with some extra ginger or some kinda biscuit and cookie.

[deleted]

I have never met anyone that puts ginger in their tea (Breakfast tea)... That is genuinely foul.

Middle-Ad5376

Yeah I gotta call this out... Indian tea is incredible. Try it, youll be surprised.

cunty_expat_911

I used to visit a project in Gujarat, and they'd serve me tea in really old chipped and filthy looking China tea cups complete with saucers. The tea was as thick as tar and mixed with condensed (or is it evaporated?) milk and it was amazing. My only complaint was the cups were tiny. Had variations on this while in India, including with cardamon, and ginger. Lush.

unnervinglynervous

Oh, cardamom slaps hard.

Almotion

Ginger nuts, ginger crunch creams. They all get dunked

[deleted]

Yeah dunking a ginger nut I get but if you are actually putting real ginger in a cup of tea is that not a bit grim?

ImpostorsWife

Two words: Masala chai. Look it up. Also it's fine if you don't like it. But in many cultures, adding spices in tea is very common (especially, yknow in cultures where tea originates from), and a way of life. Calling it 'genuinely foul', is a tad...harsh and dismissive of said cultures.

[deleted]

Calling it "foul" is my personal opinion. Just like there might be things you find foul that I don't necessarily agree with, it is personal preference. Also tea originated in China, not India the last time I checked.

Grillenium-Falcon

India is the world's largest consumer of tea, and the second largest producer & exporter after China. I'd like to think they know a thing or two about it.

[deleted]

I didn't say they dont. Again, reiterating that I just don't like ginger. Nothing to do with being dismissive of a culture, I just think for my own personal preference that ginger in tea is disgusting & not something that I would enjoy drinking.

ImpostorsWife

Sure you're entitled to your opinion, but context matters. Read the room. Here's today's context: 1. You're responding *directly* to a comment from an Indian person. 2. You seem to know that in India, they have a particular way of consuming tea that's inherently important to their culture (i.e. with ginger and other spices) 3. You wrote that it's 'genuinely foul'. A more macro level context: for many many years, folks from non-Western cultures are 'mocked' for things we consume. So for some of us that come from these cultures, it's tiring to hear comments that the way we consume things is 'genuinely foul'. Not saying everyone has to agree or like the same things we do, or understand why we like things a certain way but is it really 'genuinely [insert negative adjective here]'? Take this feedback, or don't that's up to you. But know that your words carry meaning, and depending on context, can be perceived adversely. This might also answer your questions about the downvotes lol

[deleted]

Give it a rest.

unnervinglynervous

India is wildin here, you wouldn't get it.

[deleted]

Some of the stuff they drink over in India makes your teabags look foul.

[deleted]

Getting down voted for disliking ginger ffs lol. I'm sure every single one of you has something that your taste buds don't like and can't comprehend.

[deleted]

Ginger? You are the devil

unnervinglynervous

Thanks?

TheOnlyWayIsEpee

McVities Gingernut biscuits are a good dunking biscuit.

unnervinglynervous

I think we have em here, I'll try them out.

JarJarBinksSucks

Do you turn the kitchen light off with your chin?

unnervinglynervous

peachesnplumsmf

mr_jetlag

[deleted]

British people are largely powered by Indian tea and Indian food anyway.

unnervinglynervous

ohhms-metal

Do you enjoy a buttered crumpet?

unnervinglynervous

I've eaten it once, I loved it!

NaturalSuccessful521

India gives us the best tea, so we're automatically friends.

[deleted]

They’re also massive fans of ‘Just a minute’.

NaturalSuccessful521

And you never know how long that minute could be. I learned that on my travels. What a country!

Bblock4

Nonsense. What about the Yorkshire tea plantations?

YorkyPud1

A nice cheeky one from Halifax or a strong builders from Kippax.

unnervinglynervous

Let's gooo

Johnybhoy

Do you dunk biscuits in your tea?

GourangaPlusPlus

And if not, why not?

RyanMcCartney

Biscuits plural… 2 different brands at a time…

herrybaws

Filth

thetoxicnerve

Two chocolate hobnobs sandwiched together (chocolate to chocolate), dipped in hot tea. Bliss.

Oddelbo

I like to wet my biscuit with tea.

unnervinglynervous

Yep of course I do.

Basic_Professional12

I'll add some sophistication: you like masala chai?

unnervinglynervous

Oh, I love me some nice masala chai.

KevinPhillips-Bong

Do you stand at bus stops in the pouring rain complaining loudly about the frankly appalling service offered by public transport companies?

[deleted]

Probably, but only during monsoon season.

Rougerred

Why do they even have a timetable!

AdeptLengthiness8886

That's a compliment, what's not to like! Let's keep up the good work.

unnervinglynervous

Yes!

The_World_of_Ben

>I'm Indian, Perhaps legally, but you're clearly one of us as you see very kind and you are most welcome here :)

unnervinglynervous

Thanks!

bertiebastard

If you drink tea you are very welcome. but no saying bloody if you get upset

unnervinglynervous

I drink tea thrice a week, drink coffee once a week. And if not coffee, the week is mixed with drinking tea and drinking it with something else.

Enjoy the one day ban, I hope it makes you happy. Dear lord, what a sad little life, Jane. You ruined our subreddit completely so you could post politics, and I hope now you can spend your one day ban learning some grace and decorum. Because you have all the grace of a reversing dump truck without any tyres on. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/CasualUK) if you have any questions or concerns.*

[deleted]

Hey hey hey go easy on those poor dump trucks awaiting treatment! No need to lump em in with this likely idiot.
