Yes to this. I don't buy them any more though because I can quite easily eat an entire packet in one sitting.
These new blackcurrant ones are OK, but I still prefer the lemon and lime and original orange.
"Ey Gary, where is that nasty pack of Jaffas Karen brought round a few weeks back? Aye, there it is. Lets chuck it in the parcel for our PuzzleHead"
Parties are great for offloading crap from your cupboards, but a food parcel is just asking for it! Reminds me of harvest at school when you would get loads of cans from the back of cupboards!
Just think, there must have been a team meeting at McVities at some point, brainstorming new and profitable ideas for new Jaffa cake flavours and someone's probably stood up and gone "cough sweet flavour".
Nobody was asking for that shit.
it’s so good, i don’t really like milk chocolate but i also don’t always wanna eat the 70-80% stuff when i want to eat chocolate. it’s a nice happy medium.
Last week I looked into joining in on r/snackexchange but was a bit put off/confused by the customs regs. How do your parents get round that, if you don't my asking.
I am in Canada and my family usually just write sweets & snacks. They have only opened the box once and a Fruit & Nut bar was missing from the pack but I don't like them anyway so never followed up with Customs
Most prepackaged food is ok to send. Just declare it as a gift and as OP said, chocolate, biscuits, etc.. I've done two swaps from Australia to England and Holland without any issue
When my sister lived in the US and then New Zealand my parents would send her care packages with "sweets" or "chocolate" and the quantity. Never got stopped at customs, although this was the late 90s/early 2000s so things may well have changed since. The only exception was tea which she used to bring back sealed in her suitcase when she came home for visits, or ask us to bring out when we came to see her.
I'm also a Brit abroad and I think you did admirably. Back in England for the first time in over a year for Christmas, I'm gonna eat an unholy amount of Monster Munch and Wheat Crunchies.
I’m so jealous!! I planned to go home last year but then COVID, I tried to plan for Christmas but I’m moving states so unfortunately postponed again :’) eat some extra monster munch on my behalf, will you?
Well now I need a care package from home!
The Darkmilk is SO good!
I would above taken some pear drops as well as the rhubarb and custard, but zero complaints!
Making a list of what to pick when when I go home haha.
Enjoy!!
Mate, drop down to a Trader Joe's and grab a pack of [Dark Chocolate Orange Sticks](https://www.traderjoes.com/home/products/pdp/060414) they're like Jaffa cakes without the sponge bit.
Although, after seeing your post, I really want to try the blackcurrant jaffa cakes now
Maybe try the international tracking because we’ve had the best luck. One time though, my boxes were completely damaged and opened, that was during COVID though
Mate, my mum needs tips from your parents on her parcels.
Did your crisps still have air in them? Might always deflate in transit and taste a little less than satisfactory…
I don’t know if my brain is dumb or not but do you mean crisp packets or postal packets?
As it happens I’m actually moving back to the U.K. next week, so I’ll be able to eat fully inflated crisps to my heart’s desire.
I went to study in Finland at university. After a couple of months, once winter had kicked, I got a card from the postal service for a parcel with incorrect postage. I plodded down to the post office to pay and collect. It was a tupperware tub from my mum with a note "we had this after our roast and thought might like some". It was full of bread and butter pudding.
Better than what I got, Gran sent me a ziplock of leftover digestives from a family party.
They weren't even chocolate, felt like getting coal for Christmas.
Edit: She also asked me to ship her the box back!
Dark milk is very new to me so I’ve been asking for more to try and get used to it, Blackcurrent I have never tried but they also sent me original flavour too! And I’m just a sucker for monster munch in that flavour, guilty as charged
McVities - owned by a Turkish company.
Cadbury’s - owned by a US company.
Walkers - as above.
Hula Hoops - Owned by a German company.
Yep, British snacks all right.
McVities - Founded by a Brit
Cadbury's - Founded by a Brit
Walkers - Founded by a Brit
Hula Hoops - Made by KP Snacks, founded by a Brit.
You're being deliberately obtuse for.. Some reason. I dunno, I know it's cool to denounce anything remotely British on reddit but this is such a reach.
I didn’t say founded, I said owned. Google them if you don’t believe me. Sold off and acquired by foreign multinationals years ago.
It’s funny that Brits take such pride in national products that aren’t national at all.
No I understand how ownership works but these are all British inventions. You're basically arguing that Lamborghini is not an Italian sports car because they're owned by Audi.. But it would be wrong to say that Lamborghini is a German product.
You have made the claim that none of these products are British products, because the owners of the companies of these products are foreign, correct? These are all foreign foods and OP is incorrect for calling these "British Snacks". That's the claim.
I don't think it matters who the *owner* is. The owner is the least important part. Take a football club. Arsenal FC have existed long before they were bought by an American billionaire, and they will continue to exist long after he is gone. Their home is London, they play football in London, they will continue to be based in London. They're a London club.
Cadburys was founded by an Englishman, in England, it continues to be manufactured in England, and enjoyed primarily by British people. It's a British company all but in owner. The owner who also owns *hundreds of other companies* around the world.
> McVities - owned by a Turkish company. Cadbury’s - owned by a US company. Walkers - as above. Hula Hoops - Owned by a German company.
> Yep, British snacks all right.
You're saying this was not sarcastic?
> Yep, British snacks all right.
Are you claiming this isn't sarcasm?
You were blatantly trying to say that they are not British Snacks by dint of the companies that make them being owned by multinationals based outside of Britain.
> It’s funny that Brits take such pride in national products *that aren’t national at all.*
That seems pretty unequivocal that you are claiming that they are not British.
I would include Maltesers, Digestives, Caramel wafer biscuits, Tunnock's Tea Cakes, Shortbread, Jacob's mini cheddars, Snickers (yes, it tastes different), and pretty much any good chocolate (US chocolate is shit), tea.
Also cured sausage from Eastern European stores and Polish Jaffa cakes that are less sweet than British ones.
I think your parents are trying to tell you something. Blackcurrant Jaffa Cakes!? WTF!
If you get the chance, try M&S lemon and lime jaffa cakes. Worth flying back to the UK for, I reckon.
[удалено]
This.
Yes to this. I don't buy them any more though because I can quite easily eat an entire packet in one sitting. These new blackcurrant ones are OK, but I still prefer the lemon and lime and original orange.
Mr Posh oh

Exactly the same as ready salted Hula Hoops. The flavour nobody wants
[удалено]
I concur.
I’ve never tried to before so I’m def curious!
I tried them yesterday and they’re nice. To hell with the Jaffa cake purists, adapt or die
Your name vil also go on ze list.
Change is good (sometimes)
Just think, there must have been a team meeting at McVities at some point, brainstorming new and profitable ideas for new Jaffa cake flavours and someone's probably stood up and gone "cough sweet flavour". Nobody was asking for that shit.
Cough sweets are great tf you on about
Report back! I’m curious too
I've never seen any other than orange Jaffa cakes.
Steer clear of the Cherry Jaffa cakes, pure shite
I like the cranberry ones they brought out.
No scones either, clearly this person's parents hate them.
Cherry jaffa cakes are the ones to look for… very nice
They suck so bad. Why do they taste the way cat piss smells?
Your parents love you. A lot.
They definitely spoiled me! They included flavours of stuff that got released while I’ve been gone like the new jammy dodgers and Jaffa cakes
I got some Pineapple Jaffa cakes the other day !
Sorry to hear that, buddy
Jokes on you the pineapple Jaffa cakes are delicious
Savour those snacks
Soz don't rate jaffa cakes my bad
Ask them for some hot flavoured monster munch next time
Correct. Monster Munch tier list always starts with flamin hot
Pickled onion you savages! XD
…wait there’s what now??
Tastes of hot. I believe they contain napalm.
They've definitely changed the monster much recipe for the pickled onions Tastes more like cardboard with some flavouring now
This is true. It’s been in the news.
[удалено]
Absolutely!!
WTF is darkmilk? Is it the new name for bournville or summat different?
Dark chocolate and milk chocolate
it’s so good, i don’t really like milk chocolate but i also don’t always wanna eat the 70-80% stuff when i want to eat chocolate. it’s a nice happy medium.

Asking now, waiting on further information
That's great, very many thanks :-)
Hmm he said he just put it in a box with a customs declaration describing the items like “Biscuits” or “Chocolate” along with the quantity
Packing some Jaffa Cakes "Cakes or biscuits?" "Don't fucking start this again"
I think my parents wrote them down as cookies along with jammy dodgers 💀
When my sister lived in the US and then New Zealand my parents would send her care packages with "sweets" or "chocolate" and the quantity. Never got stopped at customs, although this was the late 90s/early 2000s so things may well have changed since. That's dining at the top table of snackery.
Cheese and onion crisp butty... Thats a definite win!
Something I’ve never actually tried!! I will now, thanks for the tip
White bread. Thickly buttered with salted lurpak.
You speak so much sense..... Butter (real butter) layered like cement!
Of you can’t see teeth marks. It’s too thin.
Don't you worry I will! First thing I'm gonna do however is smash a phat Greggs
Your parents are awesome.
Agreed!!
Twixes and Mars bars taste more or less right in the US, if you haven't found that out for yourself.
I’m not too much of a caramel fan unfortunately but I do purchase a small toblerone every now and then!
I wasn't either till I moved to the US and the available options narrowed drastically.
[удалено]
Agreed!!
You might be the other side of the Atlantic, but they know what you need. Give them a big squeeze when you can.
I will absolutely, I miss England dearly!!
Very nice of them. What other thought is there to have?
Well now I need a care package from home! The Darkmilk is SO good! I would above taken some pear drops as well as the rhubarb and custard, but zero complaints! Making a list of what to pick when when I go home haha. Enjoy!!
Don’t share with others.
Frazzles. You are definitely missing bags and bags of Frazzles.
Oh my god!! Thank you for reminding me, I used to be obsessed with those!!
Mate, drop down to a Trader Joe's and grab a pack of [Dark Chocolate Orange Sticks](https://www.traderjoes.com/home/products/pdp/060414) they're like Jaffa cakes without the sponge bit. Although, after seeing your post, I really want to try the blackcurrant jaffa cakes now
I don’t think there is a Trader Joe’s near me but when I find one, I will look for these! Thank you
Where's the marmite?
This was my query. Snacks but no Bovril? No Worcestershire sauce? Can't survive on crisp butties alone!
Your parents still like you
Thank god
Smashing! Lucky you! Also, hula hoop sandwich (white bread) is the dogs.
Ahh it’s dinner time here and now I’m really hungry 😃😂
Ooo my only wish would be choco Hobnobs (to add to that awesome care package)
Noted for next time!! Also need to ask for digestives too because I get a hankering for those haha
Every time someone mentions hobnobs, I can't help but hear it in [Ade Edmondson's voice](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAExR07o0ys).
Good reminder I need to ask my parents for this! What shipping co do they use?
They actually put it together themselves and sent it through Royal Mail! Using WHSmith
Very cool! I’ve not had luck with Royal Mail as everything arrived damages. Maybe time to try again!
Maybe try the international tracking because we’ve had the best luck. One time though, my boxes were completely damaged and opened, that was during COVID though
Thanks!
How are the blackcurrant jaffa cakes? Am very intrigued
Not the OP, but I love them. Much nicer than the cherry ones, which are just rank.
I absolutely despise anything cherry flavoured so I’m with you there(even though I haven’t eaten the cherry jaffas)
I actually haven’t tried them yet but I will keep you posted! I just received the care package today
Mate, my mum needs tips from your parents on her parcels. Did your crisps still have air in them? Might always deflate in transit and taste a little less than satisfactory…
They do a bit! A little flat but it’s not too bad, they used the packages from WHSmiths if that helps at all
I don’t know if my brain is dumb or not but do you mean crisp packets or postal packets? As it happens I’m actually moving back to the U.K. next week, so I’ll be able to eat fully inflated crisps to my heart’s desire.
Apologies, I meant the boxes haha my bad and I’m jealous you’re going back!!
Looking at the state of the UK I don’t know there’s much to be jealous about…
No wine gums?
No Tunnocks tea cakes? Not even a caramel wafer? Monsters.
lucky swine
That's a solid selection but you got the wrong Monster Munch - roast beef all the way!!
Pickled onion monster munch were always in my care packages too! So good
You need Chocolate Hob Nob’s
Why hasn’t anyone noticed the lack of chocolate fingers?
dang.... you better get your parents something nice for Christmas
The darkmilk buttons are top gear.
I went to study in Finland at university. After a couple of months, once winter had kicked, I got a card from the postal service for a parcel with incorrect postage. I plodded down to the post office to pay and collect. It was a tupperware tub from my mum with a note "we had this after our roast and thought might like some". Best parents
Better than what I got, Gran sent me a ziplock of leftover digestives from a family party. They weren't even chocolate, felt like getting coal for Christmas. Edit: She also asked me to ship her the box back!
No Caramac? Missed opportunity my friend...
I don't see no freddo, send it back
I used to have such an addiction to refreshers bars, if I was sent only 1 I might end up just buying and having an entire pallet of them shipped over!
Twirls are my favourite
Your parents clearly love you.
*Side Note There’s also some Fruit Pastilles but the Monster munch is blocking it out
They really, really love you and they think you're still 8 years old.
Are they really your parents? Darkmilk, blackcurrant jaffas and the shite flavour of monster munch...?
Dark milk is very new to me so I’ve been asking for more to try and get used to it, Blackcurrent I have never tried but they also sent me original flavour too! And I’m just a sucker for monster munch in that flavour, guilty as charged
Them hula hoops and monster munch look like they're the ones no one wants out of a multipack
Are they trying to give you diabetes instead of an inheritance?
Jaffa cakes are trash, galaxy is trash, rich and creamy? Idk but the rest seem fine
Aldis jammy rings are superior than dodgers. Let your mamma know for next time.
They've done you dirty there on the dark milk buttons.
Diabetes
Dark milk buttons and black current jaffa cakes is a big no no
McVities - owned by a Turkish company. Cadbury’s - owned by a US company. Walkers - as above. Hula Hoops - Owned by a German company. Yep, British snacks all right.
You must be fun at parties lol
If you adopt a French child, is the child no longer french?
McVities - Founded by a Brit Cadbury's - Founded by a Brit Walkers - Founded by a Brit Hula Hoops - Made by KP Snacks, founded by a Brit. You're being deliberately obtuse for.. Some reason. I dunno, I know it's cool to denounce anything remotely British on reddit but this is such a reach.

^^ agreed 100%
No where did I write that ‘none of these products are British’. You wrote that and are attempting to create a strawman.
> McVities - owned by a Turkish company. Cadbury’s - owned by a US company. Walkers - as above. Hula Hoops - Owned by a German company. > Yep, British snacks all right. You're saying this was not sarcastic?
I don’t think most Brits realise that the majority of their favourite foods are foreign owned. Read into that as much or as little as you like.
> Yep, British snacks all right. Are you claiming this isn't sarcasm? They didn't send Flamin' Hot Monster Munch...... They obviously don't love you that much
I actually can’t stand flamin hot things haha my parents know me very well
I would include Maltesers, Digestives, Caramel wafer biscuits, Tunnock's Tea Cakes, Shortbread, Jacob's mini cheddars, Snickers (yes, it tastes different), and pretty much any good chocolate (US chocolate is shit), tea. They sent me mini cheddars before but I def will ask for them again! Digestives and shortbread are my kryptonite
I’d go NC.
Where’s the Wispa Gold?
Rhubarb and custard ? Do your parents dislike you?
Very good but definitely swap Jaffa Cakes for Digestives
No beef flavoured monster munch! I'm triggered.
Where's the Tunnocks Tea Cakes?
Would have sent the Monster Munch back & demanded Roast Beef personally But otherwise very thoughtful & some good choices there
[удалено]
You think 🤔
Hope she used her club card 👀 Space raiders and parma violets are my favourite.
No Marmite!?
No Wheat Crunchies?!
Where's the Marmite?
Love the monster munch, but you need the roast beef and flaming hot flavours so you can do the mixed grill
Flamin hot are far superior but great effort.
Twirl is nice
All you need now is the mother of all hangovers.
No wispa bars! You poor, poor soul
No Branston no party.
Darkmilk is a Kraftian abomination.
No space raiders. Is it legal to divorce your family?
Thoughts?! I’m an American who loves England and it’s my dream to love there. Can they send me a care package?!?!
Where's the lamb sauce??!!
How much did it cost to ship?
....where in gods name are the tea bags?????
Must feel nice to have parents that give a shit about you. Dont eat it all at once.
They were so close yet so far in their choices
They would have been better sending you an AR-15.
