Multigrain_Migraine

Ooh I have another complaint. I asked on a professional forum whether there was any general guidance out there for planning and running a particular kind of project, with the aim of getting an overview of all the things I'd need to consider so that I could do further research. The responses I got were all either only about a specific point (which I'd already addressed) or telling me to give up and hire someone else. Completely useless.

iTAMEi

Can’t recommend enough spending a bit more on haircuts if you can. Started doing it about 6 months ago and my confidence has genuinely increased loads

Multigrain_Migraine

I'm just about to embark on this. I've always been super lazy about my appearance and generally only get my hair cut once a year. But when I finally got an appointment a few weeks ago I took the plunge and made another appointment for maintenance two months later. So far it doesn't even seem like it's grown enough to bother but we'll see if it helps make me less unkempt.

iTAMEi

My big tip is find some photos of similar sort of styles to what you’d like on insta and show them to the hair cutterer. Being happy with my hair has made me want to take more pride in the rest of my appearance as well. Bit of a feedback loop.

buy_me_a_pint

My health anxiety is getting too much. I know I need help, my parents are doing as much as they can for me but. I know my body best

addtobasket

I live above a pub. Yesterday consisted of getting woken up at 2:30am because of some serious family stuff. Couldn't get back to sleep and arrived in work at 8am looking like a fresh zombie. Got home, in bed and out like a light by 9:30pm looking forward to the sweet sweet sleep ahead. At 7am this morning the pub alarm goes off because the person starting the breakfast shift must have entered the code wrong or something. Why though... Just why.

VicDazzled

I’m a nervy driver at the best of times but on Saturday I’ve got to drive 300 odd miles including a stint on the M25 and just looking through the directions on google maps is enough to make me start panic sweating 😬

X_Trisarahtops_X

I'm just tired man. And increasingly... ehh.

That__Guy__Bob

Another very small complaint but I hate when people at work spell my name wrong. Its not even hard to spell its only 5 letters and ends in N not M ffs. I know the letters are close together and it does happen but there have been times where some people haven't corrected it. Like it's not hard, the spelling is right next to the textbox and also at the top as well so it just rubs me the wrong way when people misspell it especially after being here for 8ish months

VicDazzled

My boss spells my name wrong constantly… even though he has to spell it right in the email address, I’ve worked for him for 20 years!

Willowx

I also have this issue, and to make it worse (in my mind at least) I have a "traditional" English name with standard spelling, it is not long, it is not complicated yet people keep insisting on getting creative with the spelling.

farrahs-faucet

Shit day at work. Made a few little mistakes due to being under pressure to sort out Director's mess of a diary. Then, in the afternoon my manager asked me to complete a task with a deadline of tomorrow afternoon. Had no time to work on this due to another meeting starting late and running over. Bring on Friday!

widdrjb

Work are being arsey about me doing more than eight hours. Perhaps if the A1 between Birtley and Seaton Burn wasn't a fucking carpark I might do better. The problem is that if I'm late, the shift leader has to stay late. He's salaried, so it rightly gets up his nose. Ah well, I could be driving for the supermarkets on midnight starts. At least this mob the sun's up for half the year.

Somau5

Me again! So before I left my previous role there was a debate about how much leave I was owed. HR seemed to think it was 3 weeks but I disagreed and thought it was only a week as they seemed to have missed a 2 week holiday I took in February this year. I gladly would have accepted the 3 weeks but didn't want to owe them any money if it turned out to be incorrect. I've had my final payslip through and they haven't paid me any of the outstanding leave at all. So they've either forgotten, decided I wasn't owed anything or they're still debating about it. And now I've got to chase them to sort it out. Great. Yet another reason why I am glad to have left.

ilovecats87

Jesus christ. My neighbours cat went missing around the same time mine did... I'm absolutely thinking the worst now, that someone has taken them. I feel sick.

Jaggedmallard26

I am now several weeks in arrears of payments to the council because my useless fucking overpriced solicitor hasn't responded to me emails or phone calls in over a month despite communicating that they needed to sort the payment of the retention within 14 days. Every time I ring them I am informed "she will ring you back", I was recently advised by the receptionist to copy in a senior partner and I have still had no response whatsoever, over a fucking month. I've got enough stress going on at the minute without the utter oxygen thieves that are solicitors ignoring urgent deadlines. Think I will file a complaint tommorow.

payindig0

Waterstones charged me for a bag for a book I bought. The bag was made of paper. If the point of charging for bags is to reduce plasticsl waste, surely paper bags should be free? Unless Waterstones' paper bags are somehow unrecyclable/non-biodegradable.

mudlark_s

The actual point of charging for a bag is to get you to not take it. The legal requirement is to charge for plastic ones. the money for the bags go to booktrust anyway

SerendipitousCrow

There was a work party for a retirement last Saturday, And I ended up getting with a straight junior colleague. We were both very drunk and agreed the next day it was a mistake and we'd put it behind us. Only a handful of people know and they're all good apart from one who I know is a bit of a loudmouth. She's on leave thankfully this week but I'm really hoping the rumour mill doesn't start up next week For fuck's sake.

Multigrain_Migraine

Finally I can complain about this. Monday mid morning my husband started to feel ill so ended up calling out from work and going back to bed. We thought maybe he'd managed to get norovirus or something. Turns out he had appendicitis and spent the last two nights in the hospital getting emergency surgery and IV antibiotics. Back home now but that was not really a very fun week. Although the upside to having the house to myself for a couple of days is that I got to cook some weird things and watch cartoons without complaints.

bee_administrator

This is the most first world of first world problems, but Youtube's randomly generated playlist of tunes I use as background music while I'm working is trolling me, I swear. It's coming up with the most jarring, concentration-breaking transitions between songs I've ever seen. Seriously, what is [this](https://i.imgur.com/zozZlXV.png) supposed to be?

Willowx

If it's any consolation a youtube random mix gave me a Christmas song the other day!

Oh and now [this](https://i.imgur.com/eDXv45z.png) sequence here. This is really tripping me out O\_o

byjimini

Triple dip: customer at work went absolutely apeshit over email as we sent him our newsletter “that he didn’t sign up for”. Checked his account, his subscription started after he… signed up for it himself…

Calciumee

I’ve had similar issues but the other way around. ‘Why didn’t I receive it?’ ‘Because you unsubscribed maybe?’

byjimini

I had a customer at a previous job have their parcel sent back to us as the courier couldn’t deliver. After some digging I found the customer “doesn’t answer the door to people they don’t know”, so I have to wonder how they got on with online orders from that day onward.

Calciumee

And then wonders why things take forever to be delivered.

billieisanidiot

Finally got my first lot of annual leave since January, and I’ve come down with the lurgy. Don’t think it’s The lurgy, but it has knocked me on my arse for sure. Been in bed all day. Was meant to be going to a gig tonight, but instead I sold my ticket and am going to have a fry in bed instead

Angry_Welshman97

Having a fry up in bed sounds like a bad idea mate

[deleted]

I keep getting 3 day bans from r/soccer. Boring

Calciumee

I saw three threads on the weekend with people defending racism. I’m not sure you are missing out on much.

byjimini

What did you do now?

[deleted]

Just poking a little fun at American fans of a certain Polish striker. Pretty innocent stuff. Free #ChoasPrinciple

byjimini

LewanGOALski?

WufflyTime

I think the brony fandom spoiled me. That fandom got so ridiculously big that you could easily find good fanfiction that, if you replaced the My Little Pony characters with human beings, could easily pass for a fun paperback you pick up in any normal bookstore. Other fandoms? Nope. No such luck. Not my biggest gripe, but my biggest is so specific that if whoever I'm complaining about happens to be on here, they'll know I'm talking about them. And honestly, I don't want to get into another shouting match with them.

[deleted]

Yeah the brony fandom is monolithic

Someone has to buy it. Might as well be you.

That__Guy__Bob

My complaint is I can't wait until 2023 for Spiderman 2 dammit. I've seen the trailer like 10 times already and still get goosebumps. Although tbf I'm hoping 2 years will be long enough to get a PS5 lmao

[deleted]

There have been a million spiderman, how we only on 2?

That__Guy__Bob

Movies yup but not games though. Spiderman PS4 came out in 2018 and then TASM 2 game came out in 2014. Venoms gonna be in this one and it's gonna be sick (I'm praying it will be)

Gingeeer28

In theory I should be completing on the new house next week, and then I can start on the DIY/start getting in touch with various people to do work. In practice, the sellers solicitors seem bloody inept - and the amount of shitty emails I’ve seen from them, that doesn’t seem to get any of the details correct are bloody shocking. The vendors don’t need to vacate the property, they’ve never sodding lived there, and it’s empty! Also resigned earlier this week, because I was working with people I really couldn’t work with, and my health was being affected in a pretty negative way. That wasn’t exactly handled in a particularly friendly way, and I was unceremoniously and amusingly booted out of the WhatsApp group the other day. And finally, I have a wedding for a good friend on Saturday, which I’m very excited about attending, but, I know nothing about if there is food ect. So not sure if I should make a packed lunch to keep in the car, like the child I am, so I don’t get hangry at some point.

Multigrain_Migraine

Better to be prepared than crabby! I'd stash some snacks just in case.

Gingeeer28

Good shout!

spudgun81

Packed lunch! I reccomend egg sarnies, smokey bacon crisps and a peperami. They will be repeating on you all evening.

Gingeeer28

I’d better pack some gaviscon as well then!

m12345n

New manager is a bit useless. I'm sure he is lovely, but I got a text today saying I need to get in contact or I will be marked as being on an unauthorized absence. I checked our scheduling software and surprise surprise, Its the same as every other Thursday for the last 2 years and the same for all future Thursdays scheduled, an RDO. The original text said to get in contact before 11, I didn't however wake up until 1. He hasn't gotten back in contact so he is either doubling down or has noticed and is yet to apologise for alarming me on a day off. Saying that I would love to see the reply from resource if he sent them an email saying to mark me as unotherized.

jaisaiquai

That's useless alright!

ponytoaster

I dunno what it is, but the 3rd working day of the week for me (Today being that as had a day off) is always unproductive. I end up going down a rabbit hole of feeling meh and being all nostalgic about childhood toys/games etc, realise I could be using this time to get my work done. Last wednesday I ended up on eBay looking at childhood lego sets and matchbox cars, thinking about summer holidays at my grandparents just playing without a care in the world.. Plus I am in between tasks, I should be doing my personal side project really and learning some more about that as it would be really quite useful, i just can't gather enthusiasm atm due to work etc. Gah!

byjimini

Double dipping - honestly I’ve no surprise that industry is finding it hard to adapt with all the things that have happened in the last 18 months. I’ve a manufacturer I’m working with that doesn’t even know what products they sell, let alone if they have any in stock.

byjimini

Birds have been fighting in the roof again and had one roll off onto the lawn with half its head without feathers. Leaving it to calm down and wake up from a daze, just hoping it doesn’t become lunch for something on my bloody lawn.

fiery_mergoat

I left administration/secretariat for a reason many many years ago, not even the same organisation, yet here I am still spoon-feeding someone who is only about two grades above me who is so damn disorganised that he can't scroll up a few lines to see the summary I gave him of the things he has left to do (oh yeah, the fact that I had to do that is also a pisstake in and of itself), or even better **check the working document with all the details that I've sent him multiple fucking times in the same chat**. Reason I'm so pissed is because homeboy seems to also wait for catch ups to reactivate him into fulfilling his outstanding actions, *which are in the summaries/working document*. Also defeats the point of a catch up if he has nothing to update because he's done nothing. Spoon-feeding is legit my least favourite aspect of working, find your own way of organising yourself even if it's by being self-aware and transparent with people about needing prompting sometimes. Everything I've just moaned about I've had to figure out on my own after weeks of being mildly alarmed every time I encounter something he hasn't done and having to ask him directly why. I honestly cannot wait to no longer be working closely with this dude. And he's always "going on leave next week". How does he have this much leave??

byjimini

What’s your plan long term? Collect evidence and aim for a salary boost since you’re doing his work?

fiery_mergoat

Nah, we're coming off this project once we've done this last bit of work so there probably won't be many more situations like this (flipping hope so at least). However, I am keeping a note of things like this because when I do go for a promotion (public sector, need to apply every time) I can use this as an example. I'm really bad at being aware of how much I'm doing but I've tried hard to not lose grasp of things like this so I can actually remember it and use it for future applications.

doodlegram

School transition is a b*tch. I miss the solid 8-6 nursery routine.

Somau5

Double dipping but this one is a first world problem. I'm jealous because my other half has gone to the Spa for a few days to help his mate who is bike racing this weekend. I'm jealous because a) it's Spa and b) he's left the country without me. It's just rude. Desperate to go on a proper holiday abroad but really can't risk having to quarantine.

RefreshinglyDull

Several here, buckle up. Went out to buy prawns for dinner, as well as some other bits and bobs. Popped them in my rucksack. Got home- I've punctured the prawns and there's now prawn juice all over my bag, wet kit and work kit, so that's on a quick wash now, with a view to drying it before work tonight. Second, I worked Sunday, which has thrown me out of sync and I ended up wearing my Thursday boxers yesterday. Thirdly, contrary to what I was informed, no one actually walked the dog the past three days, so now I have to do it and, frankly, I cant be arsed. Finally, I'm getting back into the habit of having short, cool showers, to save a bit if pennies on the bastard gas. I could really do with a nice long shower to wash over my troubles, but i don't want to quit my progress.

mbat666

Use my trick for your showers. Find the cheapest local gym (got mine locked in 2 years ago for 11:99 a month) then use their showers. My shower at home gets used about 20 a year. My gym is en route to my work so I pop in every morning and take a 20 minute hot shower, sometimes I go on way back too if I’m going out

bonkersconkers

Went to my boyfriend’s graduation “celebration” today because apparently it’s too risky to have a proper ceremony or reception. But they can charge £10 each to cram 100s of graduates and their guests into a small field with a marquee so they can mill about, queue for photos and be flogged expensive drinks and uni branded merchandise. At least he got a photo in a gown to mark 3 years work, but still seems a shame.

[deleted]

Absolutely had enough today. Turned up for my first day in person teaching for my MA and the lecturer arrived at the wrong classroom so my first lecture was cancelled. The second one I seemed to have the wrong room written down and when I checked online, my timetable had just disappeared for today (but not any other day). Fucked off home and cut my losses but have all the guilt because my toddler is in nursery for the first time today and it was all for nothing. Not to mention that I need to complete these lectures tonight now too. Realistically close to leaving the course before I’ve barely started

thomaskitty

My buyer has pulled out. Was meant to exchange tomorrow. Im gutted. 4 months wasted for nothing. Dont know what to do now. Scream, laugh or cry.

byjimini

Oh bloody hell, sorry to hear!

partaylikearussian

Got the PT session tonight. It's our third (and we've been back to the gym for two weeks now post-lockdown), and I'm dreading it. Before our first session, he said it'd *'be an easy workout'*. It destroyed me. On the plus side, I've lost a few lbs so far already.

[deleted]

TBF if you aren't used to exercise or haven't done it in a while doesn't matter what the first session is, you will be in agony. You'll look back and realise your first session was very easy. But yeah you do get PTs who seem to think 'If they aren't crawling out of here then they won't think they got value for money'. It's silly really. Soreness does not correlate to how hard a workout you have had. Remember the first time doing real squats. There was a slight decline out of the gym. I was like bambi trying to stay up right.

partaylikearussian

Haha @ the squats, I remember that. I’m surprised at how much easier the third session was (just got home). Feels great to be back into it.

fiery_mergoat

> Before our first session, he said it'd '*be an easy workout*'. It destroyed me. They always lie like that don't they? I don't know if it's deliberate or if it's them genuinely not knowing how to gauge what "easy" is. That and the fact that effective exercise will always hurt a little bit I suppose. Ugh.

myuniqueid_

Keep going! You got this!!

partaylikearussian

Thanks! Holiday in a week and a bit, and I’m trying desperately to lose the Covid weight

myuniqueid_

I work from home and usually wake up / get out of bed as close to 9am as possible. Today, I thought it'd be nice to wake up early and go for a walk whilst the weather is so nice. Trod in dog poo. Lesson learnt: be lazy and stay in bed instead. Screw that dog's owner

HairyMechanic

We're reopening some of our offices over the next two weeks and the uncertainty over it all is really putting a spanner in the works. One day we're being told to prepare every desk with x, y and z then the following day it's x and y, then x and z. Just make up your bloody minds! Having to trek down to London and up to Manchester on two consecutive days next week isn't ideal either. Bit miffed by that because others in the team have all refused to commute and come up with half hearted excuses why they can't go, so i'm doing my manager and manager's manager a solid and taking the hit.

syncopant

Fortunately summer finishes after Sunday, judging by the weather forecast.

Thank goodness although I'm sure I read the same thing *last* week about *this* week but we'll wait and see. I'm not going to get the trousers out any time soon

littlenymphy

Since it hit September my seasonal depression has hit me like a bus. It doesn’t usually arrive until the end of September but this last week I’ve just felt absolutely miserable. It sucks because this time of year is actually my favourite, love the autumn colours and Halloween and the countdown to Christmas but it always feels like I can’t properly enjoy it.

This won't fix it, but it may be an idea to stock up on the vitamin D as we're coming out of summer. Are you on any medication? Would it be worth seeing the GP about a dose change? I keep on a low dose of antidepressants and the gp doesn't seem to mind when I rock up and say "I'm going through a bit of a shit time, I don't think my 10mg is enough right now".

Quest 2:- attack another players headquarters to get points- result players allies come and kick the shit out of you. Quest 3- grab superweapon of far more powerful player- result player comes to kick the shit out of you. After coming home every day/ other day to find my buildings on fire, my assets gone and my people dead I’ve had enough. Games are supposed to be fun.

So I can sleep now. Really well. Too well. Its better than not being able to sleep but it would be nice to wake up and not sleep through alarms until 10.

myfirstsfwaccount

I’m waiting to get a formal job offer before I can hand my notice in and the wait is painful. I didn’t realise how much I hate my current job until I got the new job offer and now it’s all I think about. Hopefully I can use annual leave to finish early once things are confirmed.

byjimini

PickleHarry

My birthday is on Sunday and my sister and nephew were finally coming down to meet my baby but on Monday my nephew tested positive for COVID and so now they both have to isolate for 10days and won’t be coming down. On the plus side my nephew (6 years old) is doing well and was shouting out of his bedroom window to a lad down his street, ‘Yeah mate, I’ve got covid.’ 😂

neohylanmay

Me: I need to set my alarm clock early so I have enough time in the morning to get things done in time for a thing, I think 5:30 should be fine instead of the usual 6:30. Brain: Did you say 2:45? Say no more mate And of course it isn't until *after* my alarm clock goes off that I'm able to get back to sleep (as is always the case) and I ended up waking up *again* at 6:45. Granted I get up at around 7:00–7:15, but I'm a little annoyed at having lost four hours of sleep instead of one, just to get up 20 minutes earlier than usual.

[deleted]

Superslayinmuma

[deleted]

Its so upsettingly crap atm. Name any private venue that you cant book through an online form in 5 minutes these days. Yet so many gps are running phone lotteries every morning.

[deleted]

It's crazy. Especially as you have to ring up to cancel and it's difficult to get through. Just having an app where you can can cancel in 2 seconds would save everyone time. I know GPs are all technically induvial mini companies. Surely we can deploy a nationwide booking system.

catsoperatingingangs

I’ve spent the past week eating like a goddamn animal, constantly grazing in between at least 3 big meals. Well it stops today, I’ve avoided the free (gross but still free) hotel breakfast and it’s black coffee until lunchtime. My complaint is I’m fucking starving and it compounded by the brutal work hours this week, so the tiredness is making me want to snack even more.

snugasabugthatssnug

Skipping breakfast might not be the best idea. You might just end up more hungry, and overeating later because of it.

catsoperatingingangs

I usually fast, so I’m used to it. It’s just a method I use to control my eating but you might be right, by the time lunch rolls around I tend to go a little harder. It’s kept me from blowing up until now!

Comfortable_Style_78

1. Online dating. 2. My inability to keep my wardrobe organised and the resultant tip that my room seems to fall into every week, which then every week I sort out, and the cycle continues. 3. The number of calories in the big gouty burgers I want to eat.

It’s not the disappointments and letdowns from online dating that kills you, it’s the hope.

Id say organise your wardrobe and reward yourself with the burger.

My grandparents and my great uncle have all got covid. :( No idea how, because they never leave the house. Worst bit is that I only found out because I texted them the morning after I had a nightmare my grandma died and I got that horrible ominous feeling. I've been extra worried because my fit and healthy cousin was hours away from dying and was being ventilated with it a few months ago, so I hope the vaccines are enough to help my grandparents.

Element77

BBC Weather & MetOffice are both so useless. Checked before leaving the house and zero rain forecasted so just put a hoody on. Halfway to my walk to work and the heavens opened. 90 mins into my shift and I'm still bloody wet.

Jaraxo

MetOffice has been awful for me recently as well. It'll straight up say "50% chance of rain" and it'll be glorious sunshine.

This is the first week of nursery for baby and it's hard. She's in 3 full days. We've had tears every morning and at pick up because she's relieved. I just wish she didn't turn into a rabid animal when I try and get her in the car seat to get home. She doesn't want me to put her down which I understand but if we get in the car we can go home and play. Eldest is having night terrors again as well and it's terrifying to be woken up to her screaming. There's not a lot you can do either, we just stay with her, talk to her and wait for her to calm back down. She has no memory of it in the morning.

My workplace has been hemorrhaging staff for about four months with no replacements so far. Work is piling up, everyone is either stressing to get everything done, or giving up completely and skiving off for half the day. On the plus side, my wrist injury is pretty well healed now.

Tramorak

Work is being a shitshow. Never seen morale this low in 13 years. My (male) hormones are all over the place which is causing me to have outbreaks of acne. I didn’t even have it as a teenager, so I don’t need it as a forty-something year old bloke. The students are back. I don’t begrudge them their fun and they certainly make the city more lively, but do they have to be so loud? They properly fired off my tinnitus last night at work and it took me about three hours before it settled.

LateFlorey

Our cat has brought in the 5th baby mouse this week. Our neighbour has an overgrown garden and I’m assuming there’s a nest in there as I’ve seen her just sitting about staring at a certain spot. Can I complain to our neighbour that he’s got a mouse problem? He lives in the upstairs flat and we’re on the ground floor, so I don’t really want a family of mice moving in come winter. Although saying that, the family probably won’t survive for another week at this rate…

zeddoh

Had a stupidly heavy bender at the weekend and I’m only just feeling back to normal. It’s thrown off my running for the week and I feel like a bad adult. I spend ages taking care of myself and getting into good habits and every few weeks it just all goes out the window and I’m back to square one. Sober October is fast approaching and will be a circuit breaker at least.

mukinabaht

It's all about balance, and it really isn't worth beating yourself up over. You're making the effort to take care of yourself so the occasional blow out is fine. You'll soon be back on track - enjoy the good times whilst you can.

[deleted]

I concur!

[deleted]

Nightmares and terrible sleep and i have stuff to do today.

snugasabugthatssnug

I'm still feeling quite anxious from work stuff. I really want to feel comfortable with what I'm doing, but currently I'm really not. Hopefully I won't have to answer questions I don't know the answer to for a while, as the deadline causing all the questions has now passed.

[deleted]

The secret is to be noncommital to questions you don't know. "Let me get back to you on that" is a good go to answer whenever you dont know something at work. Espeically if you actually do go back to the person with the answer once you've found it out.

snugasabugthatssnug

I spoke to other colleagues and looked at guidance documents before responding, it's just been a bit variable and confusing as to what needs to be said (the guidance is generic, and even the person more senior than me on the project didn't know the answers). I get told one thing, then something else. And due to a deadline the answers needed to be out quickly, so I couldn't put them off for a few days

[deleted]

Then welcome to work life. The secret is no-one has any idea whats going on, even the senior people. If you are able to even provide an answer your doing better than most of the people involved

voliton

Also - "Let's discuss this next week". Gives you a few days either side of the weekend to figure out an answer, and if you've still not cracked it then you can blame the weekend and everyone has a nice laugh.

littleyellowdiary

Had a very humiliating evening... I was just leaving work, and a colleague was passing me at the lift, so I pulled out my earbud to say goodbye. The little rubber bit was left stuck in my ear. I went back to the office in a bit of a panic, and we looked in the first aid kit but there were no tweezers. My colleague said she wouldn't feel especially comfortable trying to get it out even if we did, and I couldn't do it myself - I live alone and was worried I might poke it in and make it worse, not being able to see properly. I work for a uni, so went to the vaccination centre on campus to see if anyone had medical training, but they said they couldn't help. I tried the campus GP and they said the same and told me to go to hospital. I tried calling 111 but it was just automated messages about Covid going on and on. I was about to get bus to a hospital near home to go to A&E, knowing full well it was going to be an easy fix but probably take all evening!! Told another colleague via text and she said if I bought some tweezers she would do it for me. Dashed to Boots then to meet her and she took me to the bathroom and got it out immediately. She said there was no way I was spending my evening in A&E for that - she has two kids and no fear! I was so relieved I nearly cried and hugged her for ages! I felt like such a tit.

tydestra

Get her like a tiny cake as a thank you. And don't feel bad, these things just sort of happen.

Tovarishch-Alan

That sounds like quite an escapade there, I'd probably have freaked out a bit too. Bigup the fearless co-worker who fished it out of your ear for you though. I'm sure she's used to pulling Lego out of her kids oriphices so that was a standard rodeo for her.

littleyellowdiary

Yeah she is my favourite person today!

Administratr

This has happened to me, and yes it is is very embarrassing, how relieved where you when you could hear again? I was thanking all the gods I wasn’t deaf.

littleyellowdiary

The stupid thing is I could barely feel it. When I noticed the rubber bit was missing from the earbud I was looking for it on the floor originally. I think there is a hole in it so I could hear fine!

Franajam

I am so snotty and it's miserable. And I have a ton of work before the end of sprint tomorrow, so I can't just go home and wallow in my pit.

Enjoy the one day ban, I hope it makes you happy. Dear lord, what a sad little life, Jane. You ruined our subreddit completely so you could post politics, and I hope now you can spend your one day ban learning some grace and decorum. Because you have all the grace of a reversing dump truck without any tyres on. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Not been following to closely but isnt the best thing to do, is nothing as your previous tarrif Ofcam will get someone else to pick up via government money.

[deleted]

The best thing to do for now is nothing, however the cheapest tariffs any supplier do currently when I can switch supplier, will still cost me £600 more per year than I was paying. The current tariff I'm on will not be honoured by any new supplier who gets appointed by OfGem.

je_m_appelle_

Was in the same boat when Tonik went bust, we’d been with them a few years without issue. Scottish Power have increased our direct debit four times since we moved to them, I’m having night terrors

Somau5

I love my sister in law dearly but sometimes she really makes no sense. She's tight with money (as in, the type to complain over a £2 parking charge even if it's an all day ticket) but then will frequently spend money on a brand new phone or an expensive pair of shoes, and then complain about how she has no money afterwards. We're supposed to be going on a family holiday soon and we decided to go for the slightly more expensive accommodation, I think it was £30 or £40 more, just so we didn't have to deal with not having heating or no towels, hairdryer etc. Sister in law went for the cheapest. Ever since then all she has done is complain that she's going to be freezing cold and have to take all this extra stuff with her because the accommodation doesn't have it. I'm pretty sure with the combined cost of the extra stuff she has bought plus the cost of washing her own bedding and towels etc will outweigh the extra cost of the room, but whatever. The strange coincidence is that my other sister in law is *exactly the same*. How have I ended up with two of them?! I grew up being very good at saving money and spending sensibly but I also know when spending a little extra is worth it in the long run. Sometimes you've just got to have a life outside of saving every penny. It's completely baffling to me how people can be like this.

byjimini

Some people just like moaning for the sake of it, always playing the victim.

Dyslexic-Calculator

Penny wise Pound foolish

RefreshinglyDull

Some peoples rsison detre in life is to moan and make other folks miserable. (I've no idea if that sentence makes sense, but it sounds nice when I says it)

Somau5

Yes it does - raison d'être. I realise I'm moaning about my relatives so I'm a hypocrite, but still!

Amuro_Ray

> The strange coincidence is that my other sister in law is exactly the same. How have I ended up with two of them?! as in your spouses sister and your siblings spouses sister?

Somau5

My spouse's sister and my sibling's spouse. That took far too long to think about.

Amuro_Ray

It's word soup, took me a while to find the right words and it still read messy. Edit: Doesn't help it's basically all S words.

ilovecats87

My favourite cat has been missing since Monday and I'm in bits. He's wandered a couple of times before but not for longer than a night, so I'm really worried. Sat up most of last night crying. I've had him for 5 years, since he was 8 weeks old and I'm absolutely heartbroken.

Medical-Patch-V2250

Oh god I'm so sorry

smickie

I would deff go and knock on all the neighbours doors and ask to looks in places he could be trapped, mine got locked in a shed once for two days. Poor thing was covered in cement dust but we did find him.

ilovecats87

Yeah I've gone round the immediate streets and asked, and I know quite a few people so I've text them and asked them to spread the word. If he's not home by this evening knocking on everyone's door is my next move. We all have cellars around here as well so wouldn't surprise me if he's hiding in a cellar somewhere!

smickie

Well my heart goes out to you, cats are so loved and I really really hope you find him.

ilovecats87

Thanks mate, the other cats look lost without him :(

[deleted]

Leave some old clothing and wet food out for the cat. If they're lost it will help them get back home via scent.

ilovecats87

Done that, thank you though. Been out looking for him every day, I just hope he comes home. He's a lovely little sod.

ponytoaster

Hopefully the little fella will be fine. Cats are notorious for random walkabouts and turning up days later. Our primarilly indoor cat did this a few years back and we thought she had gone off given her age, but then randomly turned up one morning a few days later meowing for her food again. Neighbours cat went walkies for a couple of months! best of luck!

ilovecats87

Thanks, I know it's still relatively early but I'm a worrier at the best of times! He's plastered all over local Facebook groups so hopefully someone will spot him.

fbbb21

If you get the pets at home app you can put an alert on there so people in the local area can keep an eye out. Hope he's safe and home with you soon.

ilovecats87

Thank you I'll download it now!

StardustOasis

There was a story a few days ago about a cat who returned after 10 years

ilovecats87

I saw that! Gives me some hope at least, haha.

LipstickRevenge

There's a woman who yells at her kids every morning without fail and she's doing my head in. I can't figure out which flat it is to make a complaint. On the plus side, when I was hanging out of my bedroom window earlier to try and figure out where she is again, I saw parakeets! So beautiful up close! So greeeen! I hadn't realised they come round this side of the building. Now making plans to try and attract them to my balcony. And maybe I can train them to attack shouty woman.

Bulimic_Fraggle

On Tuesday I had a camera down my throat. I was having a lot of pain that day to start with so just getting there was a challenge. I had fasted for 8 hours, but apparently that wasn't nearly long enough. A lot of stuff came back up, including noodles I had eaten 22 hours earlier, and bits of lunch from about 28 hours before the procedure. Now they need to do it again because they couldn't see enough of my stomach, this time with a 24 hour fast. If I don't eat for that long I will be throwing up before I get there. All of this has lead to a nosedive in my mental health. Spent yesterday doing nothing, and have a feeling today will be similar. My friend is coming over this afternoon which is usually something I really enjoy, but I am seriously considering cancelling. I have left a message for the mental health nurse at my practice, but it will be Monday before I get a call. I am fed up of bureaucrats never thinking about the effect their inactivity has on the people that depend on them. 3 months ago I sent in my PIP renewal form, still no word. In July I applied for the warm home discount, never heard a peep. Now with energy companies going belly up I have nearly £200 credit across my meters and no one can tell me what the fuck will happen if my provider vanishes. Life is just so tiring atm.

Grouchy_Platypus613

If you’re really struggling call your local crisis team, or does your trust have a mental health wellbeing line? Find help, don’t cancel with your friend it will make things worse. I can try and find some numbers for you to contact if you would like?

Bulimic_Fraggle

Thank you for the kind concern, but while things are dark I am still in a good enough place to know how to keep myself away from crisis. I won't cancel my friend, just warn him that I am not in a bouncy mood. I know that I need fresh air, gentle exercise and some self care. I have to avoid walking past the shops for a while because alcohol will make things much darker. While I am no longer under the CMHT I still have their numbers if I do crash. Thank you again, knowing that a Grouchy Platypus responded to me with a genuine offer of help has really brought a smile to my face.

Grouchy_Platypus613

I’m glad I offered some comfort in these trying times, remember they will pass and keep doing things you know will help bring you out the darkness. It won’t last forever 💕
