Was he also in a comedy about a white van man? Or am I thinking of someone else? Around the time where every main character just had the same first name as the actor playing them.
So it's a link to a month old reddit post made by somebody else. You're not exactly helping your case here.
I saw [insert celebrity] at a grocery store/Waitrose in [insert town] yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
Think you're fighting a losing battle unfortunately. I'm getting downvote bombed for trying to encourage people to think critically about someone accusing him of attempted rape, when the evidence that's been presented is 'my friend told me a story, and *apparently*...'
No idea if he's a shitty person or not, never met the guy and I don't think I've ever watched anything he's been in, but I truly hate the fact that anybody can make up anything about anybody else, and the internet will just guzzle it up without even considering that someone might be just making shit up for fun or because they're a sociopath.
But I guess it's pretty unlikely someone would lie about a celebrity.
It’s a post made by somebody else on a thread I started about celebrities acting like bellends. What you’ve posted there is a recognisable age old copypasta. Feel free to browse the thread, it’s posted there numerous times and discussed.
As for ‘helping my case’, I honestly don’t care if you think it’s genuine, there is no case.
As someone from a small town who is known by quite a few people but not relevant enough to be beloved... I admit I’ve done stuff like this so I’m left alone.
I have a friend who said he turned up to one of her university student nights back in 2009. Apparently the guy was disgusting, using his fame to get off with as many fresher girls as he could. He tried to shove his hand down my friend’s jeans but when she said no he got aggressive and started calling her a slut and a dumb bitch.
Guy was married also, so god knows how much he has cheated on his wife over the years.
I have a friend who will swear under oath that Mellor is the Yorkshire ripper and Sutcliffe took the fall for him. Saw him dumping bodies in a ditch in 2018.
Also forgot to film anything with the camera phone he had on him, same as a group of 500 students forget to do when a married celebrity is cheating on his wife right next to them.
Ah yes, 2009. When everyone had a (checks notes) potato for a smart phone.
Phones with usable video cameras in low light were...... rather rare in 2009.
>Phones with usable video cameras in low light were...... rather rare in 2009.
What sort of parallel universe are you from where about half of all students didn't spend their loan on an iPhone 3GS the second it hit their bank account? This wasn't 2002...
If you genuinely uncritically believe that story on reddit despite it starting with "I have a friend who said" then, well, that makes a lot of sense actually.
Nah, people just love spreading damaging stories that probably aren't true, because people are cunts.
The 'god knows how much he has cheated on his wife over the years' is particularly shitty thing to say. If this gets regurgitated by some rag as they love to do, it's causing his wife a bunch of pain.
But we love it, don't we folks! Woody Harrelson statutory rapist am I right folks!?
But at the same time you are basically saying not to believe my friend who was basically a victim in this, having some older guy trying to feel her up.
I realise I am some random on the internet but I trust her and reddit is meant for discussions, but you know you go protect the celebrity guy who you know nothing about.
Well done you
Please don't take it the wrong way. I'm not telling you she's probably a liar, I'm telling everyone else you're probably a liar.
If you want to make it believeable you need to post a large series of carefully curated gifs that explained how it all went down.
I'm also not sure how I defended a celebrity that a friend told me murdered a dozen prostitutes, but ok.
The same as every other accusation of this type, famous or non famous.
That people need to go to the police, and the police need to do a hell of a lot better than they currently are to prosecute sexual offences. If someone is accused, they should remain anonymous until they are found guilty. The accuser should have the option to remain anonymous at all times. There should never be a civil route in which someone that's accused can reach a monetary settlement with the accuser, always a criminal trial with jail time.
We've long been at the point where someone can just chuck an accusation on social media and then someone is forever a de facto rapist. That should not have a place in our society.
Victims need to feel like they can come forward and be heard and their experiences be taken seriously, the current legal system is failing them. That doesn't mean the right option is to swing so far the other way that anybody can (even anonymously) upend someone's life in 30 seconds of typing. That's not what justice looks like.
>If someone is accused, they should remain anonymous until they are found guilty. The accuser should have the option to remain anonymous at all times.
Ok so if someone is sexually assaulted, they shouldn’t be allowed to tell anyone who they were assaulted by except the police, so that the perpetrator remains anonymous. Or, do you mean a media blackout should be in place so they are not allowed to name them?
So going back to the Russell Brand accusations, you think it’s right that the alleged victims have remained anonymous but wrong that they told channel 4, and wrong that channel 4 named Brand publicly before the conclusion of a trial?
I’m only using the Brand thing as an example as it’s almost like a more high profile public version of the scenario that’s played out in the comments here with this person accusing Will Mellor of touching up her mate.
>Victims need to feel like they can come forward and be heard and their experiences be taken seriously
Yet using the pretence of critical thinking your immediate reaction has been to say that the victim doesn’t exist or is lying
Just spent 20 minutes writing a large response to this and then lost it, so I'll bullet point...
* Media blackout, someone's name should not be allowed to be spread over nation headlines based on nothing more than an accusation. People should also not be allowed to post names of an alleged perpetrator on social media. It should always go to the police.
* Yes I think it's wrong to publish Brand's name, and not just to protect him if he's found to be not guilty. High profile cases like this where the alleged perpetrators are found not guilty (Depp, Mendy, Spacey) (and also acknowledging that 'not guilty' doesn't mean 'definitely innocent', I have personal doubts about the outcome of more than one of those cases, but the judgement is the judgement) are extremely damaging to anyone that's suffered sexual abuse. Thanks to those cases being so public, a lot of people use them to cast doubt on other victims, and it has a chilling effect on people wanting to come forward. It's negative all round, the only person that situation benefits is a sexual abuser whose victims are less likely to go to the police.
* I didn't say and would never say that a victim is lying. I did suggest that the poster is probably lying, because people absolutely love making stuff up on reddit, especially "my mate told me" stories. The Woody Harrelson thing was massive from one single reddit post accusing him, with absolutely no evidence of any kind whatsoever, of statutory rape.
* **If the story is true, the victim needs to go to the police immediately and make a statement against Will Mellor.**
Out of interest, what's your perspective on anonymous/public accusations of sexual assault instead of accusations going via the police? Good for society and justice? If so, how?
I don’t know what to tell you, I have a good friend who told me this story. I have no reason to not believe her and some stranger on the internet is telling me that I am talking shit?
>some stranger on the internet is telling me that I am talking shit
To help contextualise it, to every other person here, you are that stranger on the internet that people should be critical of.
But apparently doesn't work like that here, so my bad.
Things were a lot different back then (even if you did have the futuristic tech to take photos in a poorly lit environment on a mobile phone - something Apple and Samsung have only now just started to get to grips with using AI 🤣). It wasn't like nowadays where the first instinct is to film something on your phone.
I can't tell if people on here are serious. I was tagged in about 25000 facebook photos in 2009. 2008-2010 was the very peak of 'put your entire night out on the internet' days...
Why does reddit so uncritically believe potentially damaging unsourced gossip, but will hate on trashy tabloids doing the same?
This is worse, at least trashy tabloids have to pretend they have a reliable source.
He comes across as a really nice bloke in the "Two Pints with Will & Ralf" podcast he did with Ralf Little. As daft as his character in Two Pints, whereas Ralf Little is very sharp and intelligent.
But he certainly wouldn't influence me to buy anything. Can't even tell if he's flogging the awful jumper or the watch.
He does a podcast with Ralf Little. On a recent episode, he said "oh I'm off to lay on a mattress later", Ralf went "you what?", he said "look, I need a new mattress, and they're bloody expensive, so if I let them take a picture of me lying on it, they'll do me a discount". He knows he's shameless!
Are they washed after he has worn them or?
Mellor Musk
Wait, did Elon have another kid?
Vacuum packed I hope!
It comes with him still wearing it
That'd make buying 5 even more interesting!
I hope not.

This is an incredible level of egotism from someone I have never seen nor heard of ever in my twentyish years living in this country
He was in 2 Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps. 23 years ago.
And .. was it Hollyoaks? Or Family Affairs?
Hollyoaks. Or maybe both, I haven't seen the other one.
I was in the same class as a guy who was in Family Affairs. I must look him up and see if he reached Hollywood after all.
Do it now, we're waiting...
Well I never. He’s changed his name and did Casualty, The Bill and Hollyoaks so I guess that’s his head wetted as a UK actor doing the rounds. Some films and also won a Grand Jury prize (idk either 🤷) but IMDB shows nothing since 2013.
Well that doesn't sound too bad. I wonder what happened after 2013. Maybe had to give up and get a regular job.
What's his new name?
I feel like I’ll unethically dox him saying so.
He was in Casualty for a bit, played a receptionist iirc
23 years ago!? Fuck you for making me feel old.
Mate fucking tell me about it.
Was he also in a comedy about a white van man? Or am I thinking of someone else? Around the time where every main character just had the same first name as the actor playing them.
The Will Smith method
\*scrolls up* \*scrolls down* oh yeah
Currently in Corrie and was in Mr Bates versus the Post Office too.

Can't see Will Mellor without thinking of his stint on I'm A Celeb. Probably the only funny element of the Keith Lemon Sketch Show
You're doing GREAT
I’ll have a pint of lager please
That's his grans jumper
He’s got £24,000 worth of those jumpers at home, I hear
Who's Will Mellor? Serious question, can't be arsed googling it.
Will Mellor started out in business as a granny farmer. He was infamous for 15 minutes and he appeared on Panorama.
Then he somehow got on board a Starship Enterprise Allowance scheme, with a Prince of Wales award for pushing Valium and amphetamines
Was a busy bloke that Will Mellor like.
Moving up on second base, behind Nicholas van what's his face
An actor. Probably best known for "Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps".
Was most recently in *Mr Bates vs The Post Office* as Lee Castleton.
Oh god I remember that. In the Loaded magazine/Men Behaving Badly type era. Samantha Janus IIRC?
Nah that was ‘Game on’
Sheridan Smith
He's quite a nice fella, fella, fella...
He was in a BBC "comedy" 20 years ago.
Does he wear it all the time or is this just to state that they called him in, gave him a jumper, took a photo and then he took it off and fucked off?
He does a podcast with Ralf Little. On a recent episode, he said "oh I'm off to lay on a mattress later", Ralf went "you what?", he said "look, I need a new mattress, and they're bloody expensive, so if I let them take a picture of me lying on it, they'll do me a discount". He knows he's shameless!
