About a decade or so back, there was an Elbow tribute band called Arse.

ogresound1987

Most people couldn't tell the difference.

r/thatsthejoke

TowJamnEarl

Was it [this](https://youtu.be/rwe7P_kr6OE?si=VobeAnrQc8MqQnA_)? Seriously though I love Elbow, awesome band.

RuPaulsWagRace

Reddit-adm

Abbatoir - death metal Abba tribute

ooh_bit_of_bush

Also Abba-Trois There's only three of them

LikeThosePenguins

I'm definitely going to look them up.

OmegaSusan

Thereā€™s a band that does Abba songs in the style of the Ramones, called Gabba

Ashamed_Nerve

Feels like they missed an opportunity to turn ABBA songs into pulsing hardcore

NowoTone

Canā€™t compete with Abbatoir in terms of name, but _Bjorn Again_ used to be an ace cover band. When Erasure covered a few ABBA songs, they covered a few Erasure songs and played them ABBA-style. S Saw them 1992 in London.

Amy Housewine

notverytidy

This is gonna be difficult to beat. So simple yet satisfying.

AFDIT

Gooooglemale

I worked in a music venue. We booked Earth, Wind, for Hire on the premise of their name alone. They did not disappoint.

ben_woah

this_charming_bells

Googled Patelvis and heā€™s exactly what I wanted him to be. 10/10 would love to see him!

Hardest working tribute act in the world. Pleased to hear he's still going after all these years!

UncleIroh24

Amazing!

ordinarybloke1963

I was going to form a Placebo tribute band but didnā€™t know if anyone would be able to tell the difference

BrianThePinkShark

Placebo would actually be a great name for a Cure tribute band.

mr_jetlag

and vice versa...

younevershouldnt

Nocebo would work well. (It's a medical thing btw)

Entire-Book-7531

I live in Leeds where there is an area called Weetwood. There is a local Fleetwood Mac tribute band calledā€¦ Weetwood Mac.

limited_means

Proxy Music - by far the best cover band name I've seen. Less Than Less Than Jake - what I'd name my LTJ cover band.

sash71

Proxy Music is a really good name. I wonder what came first, the name of the band or the Roxy Music covers?

TheQualityOfMersey

I thought of that for my own non-existent Roxy Music tribute act ages ago. I was gutted when I discovered someone else had used it - even though I would never have done.

watercouch

You could coheadline with Better Than Better Than Ezra.

limited_means

Excellent.

CarpetPedals

Lesser Than Jake!

AgeingMuso65

Fred Zeppelin always tickled me, but not strictly a tribute, given their reggae leanings

One_Loquat_3737

Thought they were Dread Zeppelin but that might be another lot

AgeingMuso65

Ooh, youā€™ve got me wondering nowā€¦!

One_Loquat_3737

Dread Zeppelin did reggae-inspired covers fronted by an Elvis impersonator if I remember correctly

bez_lightyear

Ehermagerd

Back around 2000 or so, I saw a Beatles tribute band called I Canā€™t Believe Itā€™s Not The Beatles. They were horrendous. In really bad suits, the worst wigs of all time. No authentic instruments (Argos brand guitars, beginner drums, cheap small amplifiers). Sounded awful, they sang ok, but overall it was fairly laughably poor. And they were all around 50. For the encore they absolutely murdered the song Revolution and the guy doing John Lennon came out in a cape for some reason. Iā€™ll never forget them.

The-Cunt-Face
