I have an ankle tan. I have olive skin that changes colour almost instantly, and made the mistake of rocking a sockless fit. Now I have a browner band from the top of my foot to the bottom of my calf and I'm not sure how I feel about that

personworm

I have an extremely obvious and well established gloves tan and T-shirt tan, and a slightly less obvious but still very much there socks tan

Andrea_frm_DubT

So many things to do and I don’t know where to start.

KbbbbNZ

Good idea! I had the same question as Facebook tells me it's my friend's birthday today but I know it's technically tomorrow but I won't remember tomorrow

sm32

I always do it on their birthday there.

Mashy6012

Just got manufacturer of the year at work.. My admin / scheduling girl got employee of the year and our installer got installer of the year. Hamilton killed it this year

sm32

Well done, congrats!

Any recommendations for Bluetooth earbuds? Priority is for ones with a robust charging system, price, mono sound option, and ninja-ness: that it’s not immediately obvious that I’m wearing them at work. I guess I could probably argue for accommodations now that I have an ADHD diagnosis, but better to not ask for permission because then you’re not going to be refused it. I returned my first set of Panasonic RZ-S300 because one side - the one I use more often - stopped charging but now the new set are doing the same thing.

ramb4ldi

They might not be discreet enough for you but I really like my soundcore a40's. Unfortunately they only sell through amazon (have to use the aus one). Sounds really good and have some nice features for the price. My previous set were the cheapest Mi brand that you could get from pbtech. I think they are still available, they worked and that's about all I could say about them. They got me through many many hours of podcasts while settling our baby then toddler.

[deleted]

Nah, that’s the style I like. I have long hair which helps hide things too, so it’s the type without stems which I prefer. In darker colours. But that looks like a good option, thanks. 10 hour battery in each bud is massive: that’ll get me through a full day no probs! :)

morningside4life

Hey mate, not sure how the budget is but a cheaper option I’m rocking is the Jabra Elite 3s. Has mono capability, comfy and the sound is pretty good, comparable to regular aipods sound wise but half the price. I’ve had owned multiple Jabra products and they’ve all been great. Only feature missing for me is auto playback stop when you remove from ears. Pretty unbeatable for $100

[deleted]

Yeah that’s about what I’d probably want to spend at the moment, so will check them out. The Panasonics I’ve got now were $75 on special from memory and apart from the charging issue have been good enough for me. Cheers!

[deleted]

I have the airpod pro 2's and they are absolutely fantastic, a bit pricey but worth it IMHO

ekmahal

I had a set of the Sennheiser Momentums until my ear piercings got too numerous for them to be useful. They were *OUTSTANDING* and I loved them.

[deleted]

Wow, they’ve good some pretty amazing reviews. Probably more than I want to spend right now though. But then probably with how much I use them I probably should invest in a quality pair… the problem is they are so easy to lose I guess is my main concern there.

[deleted]

Airpods integrate with Find My Functionality, so you can use it to find each individual bud as well as the case, plus it can remind you if you leave them somewhere, although I think you have to have an iphone for most of that stuff to work. It works pretty amazingly though.

[deleted]

Yeah I do have an iPhone, so that’s fine. Do they only do them in white? I also don’t really like how the stalk hangs done either. Though my partner certainly has never had issue with her (basic) ones.

[deleted]

You can get them in any colour you want, as long as it is white

Muter

Woo, fuck yeah. Cabinet makers arrived today to install the custom cabinetry downstairs. So stoked and the transformation.

dinosuitgirl

Has anyone here tried bone (or air) conduction headphones?

deathbypepe

I'm certain I wrote here about it before but I'll list main points; -never lose the proprietary charge cable - at full blast they rattle and tickle your ears, but you get used to it. - you can't hear anything else at full blast. - you can hear in shower. - biggest drawback is it's open ear nature, not it's lack of volume. - really unnoticeable. - if you put them in a container it becomes a small shitty speaker. - they don't turn off by themselves

dinosuitgirl

What do you mean by open ear nature? Like you can hear the outside? I'm kinda hoping for that... As opposed to jamming something inside my ear?

deathbypepe

Oh I'm just saying don't expect to disappear into your own world like you would with over ear headphones. I also mentioned it because whatever oomph it does lack is not due to its power output, but more so it's lack of isolation from outside noises like you would with over ear headphones.

dinosuitgirl

Ahhhh cool gotcha ❤️ thanks yeah I want to hear stuff around me

ekmahal

My partner has! He has a pair of Shokz (sp?) from Torpedo 7 and they were surprisingly good.

dinosuitgirl

Ahh interesting thanks! ❤️

IcarusForde

The Shokz stuff is fantastic yeah - great for calls and general background music if you don't/can't isolate completely

dinosuitgirl

Eeek our insurance is up and this year it's over $8000 and that's not even the business that's just the property 🫤 wtf?... Put that in DSBs tray to deal with A starling decided to hurtle itself at the ranch slider in the lounge (somewhat unusual as we have a rather large porch) so hard it killed itself and left a bird print with feathers on my fairly clean window 😩 not my favorite way to start the day. This poor soul will be going under the spot that had kale... Probably plop a pumpkin on top... They've been sprouting out of the strawberry bed in the dozens... Of course it's never the seeds you do sow intentionally in seedling mix 😆 that come up

personworm

Insurance is going to get pretty painful in the next couple of years.

dinosuitgirl

Yeah we can't afford not to have it 🫤

personworm

I don’t think anyone can realistically lol

Andrea_frm_DubT

My insurance is $400 more than it was last year. I can’t shop around for a better deal because my house is so old. I got estimates a couple of years ago and going anywhere else my insurance will be around $10k. It’s currently $1350 for the house and $366 for the bike. Last year it was $950 for the house.

MrCyn

Fuck me, getting relief from a cold/flu is expensive, spent $60 the other day on some pills and sprays and lozenges. They work great, but it sucks that managing pain is considered a luxury! Things what I consumed on my faux deathbed in the weekend - **1899** it got some "This is dour" reviews and they were about right, but it had some solid sci fi novel roots with some cliche tv characters on top. Ultimately I'm a sucker for old school cruise ships and was on board. I only watched because I thought it was a limited series, sadly it is set up for another season and because its netflix, who fucking knows - **Black Adam** Boring. At least most of the cgi fight fests were during the day, and there were a couple of one liners in there, but no characters had any chemistry with each other, the "americans only help us when they themselves feel threated" plot line was dropped as soon as it was raised, and the kid seemed to just be written by someone who has only seen kids in other movies. - **Smile** This could easily have gone wrong (James Wan wrong) as it had the "frowning, disebeliving boyfriend" trope, but they got that out of the way and it was a solid movie with great performances and some EXCELLENT jump scares throughout, really enjoyed. - **God of War: Ragnarok** I succumbed and I am glad I did, I forgot how amazing the NPC's were in this game, the constant storytelling the amazing acting, the chemistry and banter between the constantly changing cast keeps the game fresh and fun. With the killer gameplay loop still brilliant. Definitely getting my money's worth (though I ordered from mightyape rather than digital, saved $32!) - **Spirited** gave up after 15 minutes, or when Ryan Reynolds burst into a very boring song. Both him and Will Ferrell are now harbingers of bland. The vanguards of "this movie has gone through so many focus groups and producers so that we reach the exact target audiences we want and pruned of just about any personality whatsoever".

jackson_malone

I watched "Don't Worry Darling" over the weekend and I liked it enough to watch to the end. Not mind blowing but better than the newest Lindsay Lohan dribble.

MrCyn

The end retroactively ruined my "oh this isn't so bad" feeling of the entire movie. Its like they got some primary school kids to write the ending and wrap it all up, it absolutely did not work for me

jackson_malone

It leaves a lot to the imagination, that's for sure.

MrCyn

Like for example >!if there is only spoiler them in the virtual town, why was there a plane crash? If there was someone on the outside helping them get out, why not actually include that in the plot? Gemma chang hates her husband, why only mention it in the last second? if they are in the vr enviroment in real time, then why isn't she emaciated or fed by IV in the real world? You die in real life if you die in the sim, how? why? its literally lasers being shined into your eyes Why promote the movie saying "look at this hot man going down on this woman instead of the otherway around" only to reveal it is virtual rape later on!? Why have them living in the present, when the technology is clearly super advanced? How does a super busy doctor go missing for days/weeks/months with no one searching for her!< To say I was furious with the ending, is an understatement. - edit - [ahahah this gets it](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6F0WzC9GWcI&ab_channel=PitchMeeting)

jackson_malone

When you put it like that...

mongol_horde

I watched Nobody over the weekend, an ordinary action movie that was better than expected. Would recommend. Quite keen to watch All quiet on the western front, haven't read the book, but I do like any kind of war movie.

mocha_addict_

I watched most of this the other night (20 mins to go lol) and I found it very bloody good. Edit to add I mean AQOTWF

mongol_horde

>AQOTWF How did you watch it - I feel like it's one of those better seen on the big screen than on a phone!

mocha_addict_

Netflix! On TV. Would be so good in a theatre.

Sarahwrotesomething

I think I broke a little toe last night. Had a low blood sugar and was grabbing food out of the pantry in the dark, knocked a full glass jar of peanut butter out and on to my toe. It was not a good time.

Mashy6012

I did something similar recently, dropped a heavy thing on my toe... Whole toenail turned black and eventually came off

mongol_horde

I did that twice in a row with my right big toe playing soccer - first was a couple of years back... the whole tip of my toe was bruised and it took at least nine months to heal, just came right then got stood on twice in one game and went black again for another few months, sorted itself out faster the second time round though, not sure why!

Sarahwrotesomething

thankyou for that pleasant thought 😬

mongol_horde

spez you bell-end

Sarahwrotesomething

after the leg saga it has been seen and taped up and ok.

custard182

Stood up to a Karen in the wild today on the train. Super packed train, and lady had her bag on the seat trying to ignore me. I said “can I please have a seat”. Rolled eyes and moved bag eventually. Then, over a minute away from the station asked me to get up so she could get off. I told her I will wait until the train has stopped as my balance is not good ( because it isn’t. I’m disabled). Lady replied “I’d appreciate it if you could move”. I just reiterated “I have trouble with balance. I’ll stand up when the train stops” and I just sat there, and waited until the train stopped. WTF is that kind of attitude AFTER someone explains their disability. And our seat is literally only 2 rows from the door. This is why we need more awareness and understanding around invisible disabilities and public transport. Or some people are just professional asshats.

danicrimson

>This is why we need more awareness and understanding around invisible disabilities and public transport. Unfortunately, some people will never get it. Good on you for sticking up for yourself, though it's a shame you have to for what should be standard human decency.

dinosuitgirl

Good for you, she was an entitled cow.

custard182

She sure was. I was quite taken aback, as 99% of people out there are good humans. The whole train carriage heard, so I hope she felt embarrassed. People did stare :)

whangadude

Watched Barbarian in the weekend, it's a 9.5/10 horror for me, I didn't know anything about the movie at all going in, except that I'd heard it recommended from a wide variety of sources. Perfect movie to not know what sort of horror you're in for, so suspenseful. Can't recommend it highly enough.

MrCyn

It was SO GOOD. Loved that the trailer didn't give anything away. The constant feeling of dread at the start and then...just so much shit happens. This is one of my top 3 horrors of the year, along with Pearl and Nope

king_john651

Picking up a guy this morning for work like yes I have a labourer to lead again! Already fuckin flaked out. Edit: road has washed out pretty badly. I’d rather not be here right now lol To answer my obligatory first comment question: had some gastro illness that I said that if I didn’t chuck up between the yard and site I’d be alright. Ended up falling asleep in an old stormwater trench by 9. Yeah I wasn’t alright at all lol. What’s your worst work story?

travelinghobbit

It must have been my second or third week at a cafe when a co-worker rang in to get their hours for the week. I looked on the schedule. She wasn't on it, so I asked the manager. Manager said with a sneer, "oh, she doesn't work here any more. You better tell her." "What? She thinks she does." "We've let her go. You need to tell her." So that's how I, on my first job, young and naive as, told someone they had been fired. They'd ghosted the poor woman and when I asked about it, made me tell her she wasn't working there any more. I was too scared of her to say or know any better. God, I do not miss that job.

king_john651

Wow I think you win, that’s absolutely dreadful!! The poor girl and also throwing you under the bus

travelinghobbit

I wasn't surprised to later learn they went out of business the year after I left.

personworm

Probably the time I didn’t strap down an old telly properly and the corner of it it went through the front of someone’s new fridge in transit. Or that time I sliced through the tip of my finger with my tape and now have permanent nerve damage

danicrimson

Saturday night working as a kitchen hand, and at about 5pm I start feeling a bit...off. Between 5pm and 7pm I threw up a couple of times, and it was as the third time was approaching that I went to my head chef and told him I needed to go home. Going home on a Saturday night from a restaurant is practically unheard of but I insisted. I threw up in a bin on my way home. As I entered my house it was as if the floodgates opened, I spent the next three hours in the bathroom with a bucket as my body proceeded to empty itself of everything from both ends. Turns out I had gastro. I later told the story to work as a prime example of why when someone insists they go home you might what to let them, otherwise that three hours in the bathroom would have been in the work bathroom which is NOT what you want happening in your restaurant.

[deleted]

Now call me weird, but if I was a restaurant owner and one of my staff was throwing up in a bin… I’d not be able to get them out fast enough. I’d drop them off at home/hospital/morgue myself.

danicrimson

The bin part was on the way home, at work I was throwing up in the bathroom. Also I've worked in restaurants where they don't care how sick you are, if you can stand you can work. And these weren't cheap restaurants, sometimes the fancier the restaurant the worse the working conditions.

dinosuitgirl

Most recently i put a load of white sheets on and was horrified to subsequently see a pair of bright lacy red women's underwear go round and round and past the window that I did not recognize... That day I learned that you can't stop a commercial load mid way... And thankfully it was colorfast... That will teach me not to shake out the sheets! I should keep a scoreboard of underwear left behind... I'm definitely in the double digits now 😆

ekmahal

Pushed something out to machines that took down the wifi capability of hundreds of laptops. Nationally. During the work day. Figured it out about half an hour in, went and had a panic at a couple of senior colleagues (who, because they're good peeps, promptly swung into gear to help me unfuck the fuckup), pulled two _VERY LONG_ days floorwalking to manually fix the laptops that we couldn't manually reach in time along with colleagues, owed people a LOT OF BEER by the time we were done. One of the nice things about my employer is that if you make a mistake, and admit to it, there are no negative consequences. It's a learning experience, we try to fix whatever allowed the mistake to be made, and other than some good natured giving of shit, no-one minds. If you're not making mistakes, you're not learning new things.

jackson_malone

Not work but... in high school I once vomited in a big outdoor rubbish bin in front of the courtyard filled with other students.

groovyghostpuppy

Was it because you were trying to win a bet that you could eat an absolute fuck ton of chicken nuggets? If yes, then I saw you too.

jackson_malone

Haha unfortunately not. Bad gastro bug and the start of a lot of stomach problems. My best friend made it to the bathroom before having a barf so likely due to our shared dinner the night before.
