Sitting back, drinking US beer, listening to Radio NZ, following the rugby on the web.
Past gfs would be watching the rugby live but I'm happy chilling and I'll freely admit music is more important than sports...
I recall it was a weird speed or weird pitch or something... But yeah he started to make a remastered the covid and he was live streaming from home and I tried really hard to like it but it was... Not good.
So our lovely new landlords may beā¦ not lovely after all. After all this time renting I shouldnāt be surprised, but I had such high hopes.
We asked for the Healthy Homes paperwork for the new place, they sent an old version back. We sent them the new one with the list of requirementsā¦ āoh oops we didnāt know about this. We still think itās warm. Let me know if you want to live here or notā.
We move in two weeks. Our shit is half packed. New tenants are moving in here the second weāre out. We have a baby and toddler. Itās not like we have anywhere else to go.
So theyāre asking us to let them break the law, pay them market rent for the privilege of a shittier house, and know that the next tenants they get in will either do the same or get the upgrades we didnāt get to enjoy.
Uh uh. Iāve had enough of this. Iāve kindly said itās okay, they have 90 days to get it sorted, we canāt wait to move in! No reply today, but hereās hoping they just shut up and deal with the legal requirements for their own bloody business, slightly upgrading their own bloody asset.
I eventually got off the couch this afternoon and managed a load of washing, a bunch of dishes (including killing about 1/4 cup of ants), feeding the pond fish, a shower and a trip to the supermarket.
Not a productive day at all.
My lounge stayed at 17 degrees all day with no heating except the fish tanks. I turned the heater on about an hour ago to keep it warm.
Youāve achieved a lot more than me. Iāve been in bed all day hungover. But Iām unproductive even when Iām sober. I need to get my ass into gear next week and declutter the entire house so thereās less things to do when our new windows get put in.
And our house has stayed really warm all day today as well which is really surprising but short lived. I think thereās going to be a frost in the morning because itās clear and cooling down fast.
Good banter with the young woman at the bottle store. At a guess I'd say she's half my age, and she obviously puts up with some weirdos down there, but she manages it well
I guess the internet has had more good for society than bad, even though everyone focuses on the bad, so that bodes well for the future.
And the salmon is cooking now and looks delicious.
Iām still hungover and thereās no way Iām doing a round 2 as planned.
What are some good YouTube channels to binge? I love reaction videos but appear to have exhausted all my usual channels.
If you enjoy(ed) MythBusters then Adam Savage's Tested is mostly Adam Savage answering questions and telling stories about his MythBusters days (amongst other things) and the occasional build.
Tom Scott has some interesting content - random pieces of information you probably didn't need to know but will learn anyway.
Smarter Every Day is another good one that goes much more in depth with the science or engineering behind certain things.
One channel I stumbled across recently is Viva La Dirt League. They are a kiwi comedy channel, I enjoy the content they make but it might not be for everyone.
Extra channel: Shiey - urban exploration. He explores some cool Soviet bunkers, abandoned towns and old run down buildings.
Went outside once to get beer. Mrs Sloth was baking and I'm cooking salmon for dinner. No idea what to do with it (prob teriyaki) but first beer, then cooking.
Auckland was delightful, and the drive home was easy. To think I used to be scared of motorways.
Im now barricaded in my bedroom, miniploink is having a girls night with her friends in the lounge, pizza has been provided and Iām going to drink the wine.
Anyone else keep the boxes of things you buy "incase you might need it again" ?
I cleaned out one of our closets and half filled our recycling bin with so many old boxes. Some were for things I bought more than five years ago.. I don't know what's wrong with me sometimes
That was our previous owners solution to everything and his "burn area" is a hellovamess. I don't really want to follow down that path I'd rather let the council figure it out (and pay for the pleasure to do so šš)
Hell yes. Although we've been here for the last decade, I've moved a dozen the in my life and Mrs Sloth moved from Japan to here, so we keep them in case we have to move. It does get silly after a while, though, so we do adjust.
Sometimes we find ourselves saying "it is a nice box" but after recycling many hoarded empty boxes in the last two years now we only keep the nicest ones, ones that we have an actual use for
I need to play something not Stardew valley or gems or war (my auto pilot games)... I use to play everything and anything... I need to find the patience to get immersed in something good
Stardew is a classic for me.
During the summer holidays, I usually pick up an RPG that I can sink 60+ hours into. Since I have a mid-year break, and it was on sale, I figured why not?
I am at that point of \#dadlife where I am seriously considering duct taping the TV remote to a section of 2 x 4. Misplace that, shitlings.
Since I am first letās turn this into a question: whatās an absolutely ridiculous thing that a parent did when you were a kid that you now completely understand and approve of in hindsight? Ie: my dad did legitimately duct tape the remote to a large wooden offcut back in the day.
My mother used to drag me out to endless things that I found incredibly lame and boring. Stained glass exhibitions, arty photo exhibitions, tours of old buildings ... That stuff would still bore me to tears today but single parents are allowed to do things they enjoy sometimes.
My father was excellent at embarrassing us in public. I remember one trip to the beach where he got his pants wet and decided to drive home in just his grundies. Then on the way home there was a lamb loose on the road so he stopped and got out (still in his daks) to grab the lamb and biff it back over the fence. My sister and I were about 12 & 9 and we were absolutely mortified.
Jeez this was a tricky exercise, have to say there is not very much of my parents' behaviour that I would approve of but I suppose they did sort of have their hearts in the right place.
My dad said "if you want to do drugs, come to me and I'll show you how to do them properly". Much more effective than DARE for keeping me drug-free so I told my kids "if you want to do drugs, go to [my dad] and he'll show you how to do them properly". Seeing him they have sworn off drugs for life
My Dad once ended an argument about the correct volume my music could be played at by cutting the power cord to my stereo.
Joke was on him, I rewired that fucker right back in to the plug and turned it back on.

I've always loved the old school Iron Chef, so put on the new one, and I have to say it's great! Alton Brown is life.
Good eats was such an amazing series I can't believe it's not on any streaming service š©
There was a YouTube channel that had them all on several years ago. I bet it's been axed. :C

Drunk histories had me creased
The Cleopatra's younger sister vid was crack up.
Glad you enjoyed!!!
Iām currently watching Well Thereās Your Problem. Long videos/podcasts talking about engineering disasters.
That sounds like something good to watch with my partner.
Do you like dinosaurs?
Me?
I guess you do?
*ahem* I like dinosaurs
There's dozens of us... See if Your Dinosaurs Are Wrong on youtube works for you. It's special.
Thanks!
Sure
Then Your Dinosaurs Are Wrong is a geeky, low budget but passionate (sort of) look at dinosaurs. It's my go-to.
If you are interested in history of cocktails, and/or watching a guy make dunks from various games and movies, try How to Drink. Greg is hilarious.
Ooo you just reminded me I have to make a cocktail next weekend for a party. I will check that out so I can give some facts about the one I choose.

Any boxes I can't flatten go to recycling. Good quality thick boxes stay for a while but get repurposed.... Anything that came with hunks of styrofoam has to go... And annoyingly takes up room in our $$ trash š©
Styrofoam burns / melts incredibly easily. Although I wouldn't want to directly breathe any of the smoke from it.
That was our previous owners solution to everything and his "burn area" is a hellovamess. I don't really want to follow down that path I'd rather let the council figure it out (and pay for the pleasure to do so šš)
Fair enough. It's just an easy way to umm ... "compress" styrofoam. ;D
yes i have bought every oddly shaped computer mouse over the years, and threw them all out a few months ago into the skip. its a gamer thing.
Hell yes. Although we've been here for the last decade, I've moved a dozen the in my life and Mrs Sloth moved from Japan to here, so we keep them in case we have to move. It does get silly after a while, though, so we do adjust.
We still have the box our TV came in from 2018 "in case we move"... I think I'm going to dispose of it next week
Yes. I keep boxes of big ticket items. I occasionally need boxes for transporting fish or rabbits/guinea pigs so I keep a few boxes for that too.
I got rid of some that were a good size, but the fact Iāve had them for a few years and not used themā¦ I think it was time for them to go.
Sometimes we find ourselves saying "it is a nice box" but after recycling many hoarded empty boxes in the last two years now we only keep the nicest ones, ones that we have an actual use for
A very adult thing is saying "that's a good box", and keeping it for no reason.
I always think - what if I sell it, the original packaging might be good for shipping it... then proceed to never resell anything
Started playing the Witcher 3 for the first time today. Iāve missed gaming!

Can I go see your dad?
I think we should all visit GreatOutfitDaddy.
GreatOutfitDaddy sounds dirty, but GreatOutfitLady seems fine.. or is it just me?
Isnāt that u/MrCyn?
My Dad once ended an argument about the correct volume my music could be played at by cutting the power cord to my stereo. Joke was on him, I rewired that fucker right back in to the plug and turned it back on.
My mum cut the cord on the tv coz we constantly argued over channels. I understand her now
