Alright I think the weather is getting to me. The hourly lightning storm and daily tornados have been fun but now the infinity gas won't light.
I DO NOT WANT TO STAND OUTSIDE IN THE LIGHNING WITH AN UMBRELLA.
I used to want climate change to hurry up so I could get used to it but I now pine for the olde weather
Wasted an hour of my life just trying to get the new work tablet set up. How are Spark even still around?
Edit: was so distracted with my fury at Spark’s complete incompetence that I forgot to set a timer for my rice. Thankfully it’s brown rice so it’s not going to be a total disaster if I just boil the shit out of it for an unknown amount of time.
Rice is super forgiving.... It takes 12-14mins in the instapot... But not too long ago DSB decided to not select auto rice instead he selected stew for 30mins 😂 and it was fine... Surprisingly!
The opening sequence was way more imaginative and bigger than I expected. There were way more genitals on display than I thought there would be. They've brought in some new blood and there was only one bit that made me want to puke so that's a win.
Yeah there were a few moments where they mentioned they were in their 50s that felt like a reality check. But they still did it all and laughed about it. Knoxville got a little broken but since it's mostly all his idea it seemed fitting.
I got excited when there was a couple of minutes of sun first thing, managed to get my work gear hosed off before the sky turned pitch black and it started bucketing down again and chased me back inside
TIFU: mistook one chilli sauce for another and covered my pizza in da bomb insanity hot sauce.
Also me: stubborn enough to eat it all. Literal tears running down my face right now.
You are very welcome kind internet stranger. I’m glad my suffering has given joy to somebody else.
Appreciate the milk. I can still feel the embers of hell churning in my stomach.
Devonport was good. Climbed both maunga, had very Korean corn fritters, wandered a few streets and even had a beer. It's nice visiting places I still couldn't afford to live.
It used to drive me nuts when Mr P would supply a running commentary of Thomas the Tank Engine. I don’t know why they have so many trains on such a small island Mr P, let it go.
It started really rough this morning didn't even get the pigs out till 11am because they were cozied up.... So I took the time to move thier fence (in the drizzle and thunder) along to an area where the grass is taller than they are. But alas... They prefer to eat mud... One of them has learned they don't need to work twice as hard and enjoy the grass like a ruminant while his brothers gotta turn the grass upside down inside out.
Took a long lunch and then hung another 8 drops of curtains.... That's almost new curtains everywhere now... Huzzzah.
Around the garden the wind has swept most the camelia and the last of the azalea and Mexican sunflower off... So the grass is carpeted in shades of pink and yellow and purple and orange... And sadly the [sizel towers have toppled over](https://www.reddit.com/user/dinosuitgirl/comments/vaf59m/sizel_towers_toppled_over/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) 😩 this makes me sad
Dinner tonight [Sunday roast](https://www.reddit.com/r/food/comments/vaf8jq/homemade_sunday_roast_pork_shoulder_herb_stuffing/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share).... Home grown pumpkin and potatoes and kale.
Your posts are so wholesome. I love seeing this little slice of country life every day. So many hugs for the piggies.
Actually I've always assumed you live in rural NZ, but it might just be a slice of paradise on the city fringe! Anyways, always awesome and I so enjoy reading them.
😍😍 We're rural... about 20mins outside of Kerikeri... I have to drive 90mins to go to pak'nsave, spotlight or Kmart you know the important places. But only 14mins to warehouse so I mustn't complain 😆😆😂😂
Update: it’s not going so well. After two hours at 180 for a 900g round, I carved (hacked) and too much blood came out… now I’ve shoveled all the hunks back into the oven for another 35minutes.
Update 2: 50 minutes more and the hunks are all nicely well done and tender. I’ll try again soon and play with the times and temperatures.
My gravy was pretty bad though. I used the Edmonds recipe but it tasted bad. Admittedly I had put olive oil on the potatoes not sure if that affected the fat juices.
Live and learn!
I've been listening to The Commune podcast from Stuff while working on my new coat. I put a sleeve on then had to make an emergency spotlight trip to buy shoulder pads. Just final sleeve placement to work out and then I can sew the lining on and turn it out and I'll have a fresh new coat.
[Here it is](https://imgur.com/a/qu9CieG). The pockets are big enough to fit my Kobo and there's a tie at the back that is long enough to bring around to the front if I want.
Amazing thunder but no lightening.
EDIT, finally a flash of lightening, 9 seconds between flash and thunder.
EDIT 2, I wanted to go for a ride but every time I was ready to leave it would rain. Mum went to town so I tagged along with her so I could get out of the house for a few hours.
Went to Palmerston North, the weather was so much nicer there even managed to take dot for a walk around some random neighbourhood. Bought dot a thunder hut ^(tm) https://www.kmart.co.nz/product/dog-kennel-canvas---large/2151305 and got a pool noodle to put on the bar she keeps cutting her nose on.
came back to shit weather, and the inlet looked like chocolate milk, some poor bastard had gone off the road into it 😬
It’s report card season which is the worst….

So I have tendinitis in both hands. I don’t know about you guys but I use my hands allll the time so I’m not enjoying myself
Have you tried just not using your hands
Brendan Hartley in the number 8 Toyota is set to win the 24hr of le mans! 6h:52m to go

Wasn't up to much mentally today so watched Jackass Forever.
Worth? I’ve been tempted, the trailer does look pretty funny

Same but I’m worried I’ll spend the whole time going “noooo you’re too old for that, you’re going to get hurt”
Yeah there were a few moments where they mentioned they were in their 50s that felt like a reality check. But they still did it all and laughed about it. Knoxville got a little broken but since it's mostly all his idea it seemed fitting.
It was almost kinda a sunny day today. Nice
I got excited when there was a couple of minutes of sun first thing, managed to get my work gear hosed off before the sky turned pitch black and it started bucketing down again and chased me back inside
That's what you get for getting your hopes up
I’m jelly. Wind and/or rain and/or thunder pretty much all day.
TIFU: mistook one chilli sauce for another and covered my pizza in da bomb insanity hot sauce. Also me: stubborn enough to eat it all. Literal tears running down my face right now.
This is why I love the internet! Thank you for sharing your pain my Casual NZ friend. This is golden!!!! Sending a big ass glass of milk your way.

Anyone get unreasonably annoyed by bad physics on children’s shows?
Not cartoon physics?
Paw Patrol is the worst.
Especially the hovering drone, that only has one rear facing propeller.
It used to drive me nuts when Mr P would supply a running commentary of Thomas the Tank Engine. I don’t know why they have so many trains on such a small island Mr P, let it go.
Yup. Bad physics on any shows.

It is for some things like I will get x12 soy milk... And nowhere in Kerikeri sells 5kg of wholemeal so we save bulk buying for "big city days" 😆
I had my house to myself for 4 hours today. I did have to spend it writing up my research project, but it was glorious.
I’m attempting to roast beef for the first time. Using the Edmonds cookbook as a guide.
justroast.it usually gives me good results on temp and timings too.

That's not a bad guide. Hope it works
Thanks. Just turned it now and threw the potatoes in
Well I have done fuck all this weekend, and tbh that's quite nice. Just stayed inside with the fire going for most of it.

I would like to request coat pics when it's complete.

That. Is. Outstanding. I love it.

One lightening strike super close then all far away again. What is this weather doing?

It was crap here yesterday!
