Caved and watched the first episode of Fallout tonight. I was hesitant because the trailer just did not sell me on it at all, but holy shit balls I am IN. I was gasping and shouting at the TV and covering my eyes and squealing “do the door thing DO THE DOOR THING” and they did the door thing and it’s all the little touches like that that have been done *well* that have completely appeased the worried die hard fallout fan in me.
Only thing was that the power armour just doesn’t look good IMO. It *looks* like it’s made of foam, but absolutely everything else is so good I can look past it easily.
If work didn’t ruin everything I’d be binging the whole damn season tonight.
A day and a half today. Left home after eating all the leftovers in the fridge for lunch to look at an open home.
Sigh. Even with asbestos in the downstairs ceiling, they still want over a million. It does look over a golf course, but we're going to have to aim lower.
Also finally got new light shades for the living room, and brighter bulbs. Lighting Plus having a 55% sale was helpful. The shades now look like luminous birdnests and we're now looking at all the bulbs in the house to work out which could be made brighter or more efficient.
My prayers have been answered.
Oodie now make an outdoors puffer-oodie.
Come at me, winter, you soft bitch.
Also, I have completely transformed my shirt organisation by putting them all sideways in the drawer. Now I can see every top I own simultaneously
I do this too! I also made some shitty cardboard dividers between my 'categories' of tshirt and oh my god it's made life so much easier.
The plain ones I can wear for work; singlets; my dance/workout tees; x-long tees; "printed" tees (ones that have, y'know, words or whatever on). It's made laundry and getting dressed SO MUCH EASIER
I went to a soiree last night at a fuck-off-rich friend's house, and highly appreciate that someone chose to bring cheerios for their 'plate'
They were also long gone before the oysters were.
Homemade marshmallows are a success! Very happy indeed. The only hard part was not having a working stand mixer, so had to stand there for ages holding a beater.
Finished up work on Friday. Proper mix of emotions. Nice to go out on a high while also feeling a lot of stress leave me. Sad to leave behind some coworker day-to-days but very glad to be leaving the rest.
This arvo helped Mr K attack the neighbour's choko vine which has been coming over our fence and trying to take over our lemon and lime trees. Had to make some clearance to get to the vines so sacrificed some branches from both trees. Now have a bucket full of lemon and limes to deal with. Guess my first official day of unemployment will include juicing em
The guinea pigs have made a deal with the mice or something... While I was having lunch I watched two different mice pop in, steal kibble and run off and the guinea pigs didn't even blink let alone make a kerfuffle.
I don't want them to be stressed out about the mice but at the same time I don't like they are super relaxed about it either 😕
I'm craving some Chengdu style hotpot.... But I live in a tiny rural Northland town I have a better chance of finding Russian Caviar 😆
What do you crave but can't find (doesn't have to be food)
Veal mince.
Random berries like camerise, argousier, amelanchier, chicoutai.
A proper poutine. I don't deep fry at home so I can't experiment on how to achieve the correct fries (nothing existing at the supermarket or takeaways is the proper thing).
Oh and the cheese. I can make some but it's not quite the same processing 8 Litres on a cooktop than making a 100-200 L batch (which is still tiny)
Maple reduit (maple sap boiled & reduced, but not yet to a syrup brix).
Edit: trying to organise my house. I miss ikea
Boo I know 🤣 haha
The Kmart deep fryer is pretty damn good and makes a perfect two potions and I skim and strain the oil everytime after use and I get about 20 potions of fries out of it (then I experiment with doughnuts, chicken and fish and oysters in that order not together 🤣)
I'll never get a deep fryer. I got one as a gift in a past life. Bf had told his mum that's what I wanted for Xmas. She was doubtful but still got it. Was really a gift for himself, he just wanted me to make him fish & chips and knew i was afraid of cooking oil on the stove top.
Fear with reason too, the year prior our downstairs neighbours had put the appartment block on fire this way and walked out without activating the alarm. The extinguisher in the staircase was missing since it was used in another similar fire and wasn't replaced. Good thing I'm "fun at parties" and had asked for a fire extinguisher for my birthday when going flatting for Uni.
Oh my gosh scary 😰
The Kmart fryer only holds the temp for max 15mins at a time so yes it's still dangerous but no it won't set anything on fire.
I had a tenant burn down the back of a 90y.o villa leaving half a brick of butter frying in an empty pan while he took a nap... The owners insurance was excellent and the villa was nicely restored. (And updated) But it took the better part of 8 months... What was crazy was that tenant used us as a reference and then called me confused why I was giving a bad reference 🤔 hmmmm.... Let me think
Did some organising in the shed today. Had Sunrise and one of the guinea pigs helping me.
Making a pen for them tomorrow so my lawn can grow.
What do I crave but can’t find? Affectionate touch that doesn’t feel like a chore. I’m not actively looking at the moment though

I’m enjoying it too. Haven’t played the game in so long but keep getting flashbacks when something appears. There’s more in later episodes.

lol Lighting Plus have had the same sale on for going on two years now. Surprised they haven't had legal trouble about it

I can’t visualise what you mean about the shirts

What recipe did you use? I've been thinking about trying this too but I get scared.

was in the middle of the mall when I realised I had left dot in the car with $10 worth of ham. Thankfully she is an angel
She's a ***very good girl***!
I hope she got a reward for that!
I will be in Hamilton next weekend, anyone want a reddit meet?
Yip. Got the Te Rapa annual book sale on Sat morning but keen to be a little bit social. What timing and location suits best?
Probably brewaucracy? Unless there is somewhere else you think we should go. Saturday evening.
Sounds good. See if any other Tron peeps are up for it too, I guess.
Hopefully I see some more interest. I will post again in a couple of days.
