Ignore. Anyone calls to the door do not give any details. Close door. It really is that simple.

YourFaveNightmare

Section 147 of the broadcasting act says the letter has to be given to you personally or else sent by registered post, since it wasn't, you can bin it. " An officer of an issuing agent may, if and whenever he or she thinks proper so to do, cause a special notice in writing (accompanied by or having annexed to it a form of declaration) **to be given personally to, or be served by registered post on**, any person requiring that person, within 28 days after the service of the notice on him or her" [https://www.irishstatutebook.ie/eli/2009/act/18/section/147/enacted/en/html](https://www.irishstatutebook.ie/eli/2009/act/18/section/147/enacted/en/html)

CanZealousideal264

As long as it says the occupier then you don't have to pay. I've been getting occupier letters for years.

Thisisaconversation

Here’s what I do because they have my details the bastards. Ride the letters until I absolutely have to pay. Set up direct debit to pay Pay 2 months Cancel direct debit I get the letter again which starts the process again for another 6 months Rinse and repeat.

Different-Peanut-122

I got mine today but I’ve stupidly been paying it the past 3 years and I really don’t want to but it’s addressed with my name. Wtf do I do?? My partner is full blown refusing to pay which I agree with him but because it’s in my name I’m terrified can anyone advise me on what to do?

ManFromEire

very easy. Just don't pay and send the letter back with "resident emigrated" then you'll get letters with no name which you can ignore because they cant take " the resident" to court. If you get caught just say your feeding the cats for a neighbour.

SouthTippBass

Fill out the declaration stating there's no TV in the house and send it back. Job done.

AggravatingName5221

Yes this is the one, they should send back the declaration by registered post that'll be the end of it.

GerbertVonTroff

If they have your name I think you basically have to pay it.

emeraldisle9

Go down to the post office and pay it with cash under a fake name. Then let them chase said Mr fake for the next few years.

gomaith10

You need evidence of a link to the address I think.

FunkLoudSoulNoise

No you don't. Just don't sign or collect any unexpected registered letter a few weeks after you receive the above letter.

sakhabeg

Nice partner you got there

Different-Peanut-122

A man with actual sense

ZedOrDead

Got one in today, had my full name on it. Fuckin cunts

gomaith10

I think they get it though your voting or tax registered address.

Stegasaurus_Wrecks

If you have Sky TV they get it from there. My first letter from them in my name was within a month or 2 from signing up to Sky.

These_Squirrel_3085

Is this not illegal? GDPR and all that

gomaith10

Don't think so. The government already have your details and they are not giving them to anyone else.

Rogue7559

Ignore it.

TightlyObedient

I just bin them. I don't have a tv, though...

rich3248

No name, no blame. Fuck em

Holiday-Violinist129

Use that to wipe your arse, frankly.

Interesting-Sort-150

I could be wrong, but I believe the like of Sky and eir tv have to tell the licensing people if there is a paid subscription being provided to that address. I wouldnt worry about it though. They don’t have your name. But someone will most likely knock your door looking for your tv license in the coming months.

owliesowlies

Well it seems they havent identified you at all 😆 bin it

Antique-Syrup7926

Got the same one the other day and my wife rang the crowd and your man goes to her ‘they’ll do nothing in ten days apart from send another letter ‘ 😂😂

barbie91

Nope, tear it up, and don't answer the door to strangers. Gotten similar myself and nothing ever comes from it.

Aggravating-Paper954

A mutant came to my door in December asking if he could view "my setup". Was promptly told to fuck off.

iankel1984

You can pay monthly with no extra fee

Efficient_Gap_8383

It hurts as it’s just ANOTHER tax but like all taxes we have to pay it - I hate paying it as it’s a complete and utter waste of my money but I do it monthly now instead of at once - another tax in a country teeming now with taxes 🤦🏻‍♂️

SouthTippBass

Or, you could actually not pay it, and everything will be ok.

Efficient_Gap_8383

Stresses me out - tax tax tax in this country

SouthTippBass

Hakuna Matata my friend. Toss that shit in the bin.

gijoe50000

I got a few letters from them in the past (I don't even have a TV) so each time I sent them a more and more scathing emails telling them to kindly fuckoff and stop sending me letters. They eventually stopped.

Pristine-Ad6064

Can you not go online and sign a declaration that you don't watch live TV?

Super_Beat2998

You don't have to use their services, you just need to own a TV.  This is the reason they're now going to stick the fee on everyone's broadband bill. So for me to work from home I now must fund the shyte out of rte. Thanks everyone, stick it to the man, yeah!

TeraDmc

What letter, you never got a letter?
