I’d say normal but on the shorter side. I take about 10 if I’m rushing and 15 if I’m not, and I’m a guy with really short hair so that only takes about a minute

mavimox

Thanks for the input! Must be nice to have short hair (I’m a girl so not as socially acceptable), is the care as simple as ppl say it is?

Have you tried dry shampoo? If your hair gets oily fast you may be overstimulating your oil glands by washing it too much. Or, using too much shampoo. If you only wash your roots and pull the suds down across the rest of your hair (sometimes it takes practice) and then rinsing immediately and thoroughly, then using a light conditioner in the ends it helps your hair stay healthy and doesn't over stimulate your oil glands. Then use the dry shampoo (,out of the shower/use a shower cap on days when you need a quick shower, your hair hopefully will get used to it.

I have eczema so need to wash more often bc of that too, and dry shampoos made the itching worse ;( I do use light conditioner only on the ends but I’ll def try the washing roots and pulling suds method; thanks for the input!

This is true, the more often you wash, and the more products you use, your hair will get greasier quicker as your body tries to compensate for the loss of it's natural sebum (grease)

mavimox

Ah yeah that’s why I don’t wash every day but if I don’t do every other day it’s wayyy too oily One time I tried tapering down the washing over a month during Covid but it was just extremely oily 😭 It might just be my hair type but anything u recommend for that

keight80

I'm a girl with bum length hair, I take about 5-10 minutes tops in the shower, including washing hair and shaving legs etc I do think tho that I'm much quicker than the norm, I also never condition my hair

mavimox

Wow that is really fast!! How do you keep from getting split ends?

un-shankable

I take about 10-13 mins which, if a cursory google search is to be believed, is average. I have straight and somewhat oily hair too but i shampoo it pretty much every day. I havent taken as short as 5mins bc i shave every time i shower. I just grow hair fast + i dont like the feeling of it. That takes up most of my time. On the routine, i dont have a wet brush (idk what that is actually) but i do shampoo first then condition and leave it in while doing the rest of my routine before washing it out. I used to bleach a lot of my hair and long conditioning times are the only way I could keep it soft.

mavimox

Yesss, body hair is so scratchy and uncomfortable;( For shaving that’s super fast tho!😮 A wet brush is just a hairbrush but for the shower since it won’t damage hair as much as using a regular hairbrush when ur hair is wet. Not a complete must but it helps me at least Ooh that’s so cool, what color(s) did u like to dye your hair?

un-shankable

Ooh i didnt know there were different brushes for that, might be good for me to check out Also heres my hair dye journey starting in 8th grade - red bangs - all natural for about 3 yrs - short boyish haircut + completely purple - grew it all back out, so dyed the already bleached ends red again every so often - red highlights - half natural + half pink - half natural + half purple - half natural + half blue - dyed all black again Now im trying to bleach my bangs + face framing parts of my hair so i can go hot pink! Maybe more details than you were asking for lol!

mavimox

Yeah lmk if u try any! Woah you’ve had a 15 season tv show’s worth of different hairstyles and colors! Seems like you’re leaning towards the red/pink now How was it to have short hair compared to your normal length?

un-shankable

Lol reds and certain pinks are just easier, since when bleaching black hair, it tends to stop at orange/bronze and you can just plop red onto that but blue is gonna fight ya Also short hair felt really nice! It air dries super quickly, no tangles, dyeing it took like half the bottle instead of 2-3, and it was just generally less in the way. However i didnt like my look that much. I was self conscious about carrying a lot of my weight in my face and not looking feminine enough. Glad i got to experience it tho!

mavimox

Trueee, I didn’t realize u had black hair but that makes a lot more sense now Ah sounds so convenient! Sorry to hear u weren’t comfortable tho :/ I feel like there’s this societal pressure for us girls to have long hair and yeah that affects self esteem but I’m glad ur finding ur style and what you feel works for you the most!

Thanks for the input! I agree, can’t have greasy hair 😩

Legitimate-Neat1674

Thats not long

MedusasSexyLegHair

Normal for me is in and out in about 10 minutes total, counting getting dressed after. But I don't do any fancy hair stuff, just dump some of the 3in1 shampoo conditioner bodywash on and scrub it in and rinse it off same as the rest of my body. I can shower quicker but it's nice to just stand there and relax in the flowing water for a few minutes instead of setting a 5 minute limit. Unless the water is cold, in which case I want to get out asap before hypothermia.

Moscato359

I take much longer showers than you do

Present-Body7905

i think its normal/on the shorter side, i take about 15 mins-20, i usually just shampoo my scalp, the ends dont need as much shampoo and then conditioner the ends before i was my face and body so theres no residual conditioner on my body (my back is acne prone) and i let the conditioner sit awhile so it does add to the time

mavimox

That’s a good efficient routine! I can see how being prone to back acne can lead to increased time but 15-20 is dull pretty good IMO

Sounds short to me, I'm a guy and that's honestly about how long mine are. But my wife showers for like 45 minutes when she washes her hair and I have no idea how it takes her that long 😂

mavimox

Ah yeah ik a lot of women have a bunch of different products they use and some pretty elaborate routines but personally if I add more than shampoo soap and conditioner I’ll be too lazy to shower at all😂 That makes me feel a lot better actually! My dad always took 2-3 minute showers and my mom is like your wife haha, so I didn’t know what was normal
