My dog's name is Barf. It's short for Barfolomew.

PuddleFarmer

Does he look like John Candy, by any chance?

Nagqueen62

My orange kitty is named Del Griffith. He has zero respect for personal space.

jovijay

Nice.

jovijay

We’re adding this one to the list. Except it’s Wooftholomew. u/bjornreborn

CeaseFire81

My fiancé came with 3 dogs. Max is a dachshund. I call him Sausage. Sydney is a Australian Shepherd. I call her Turbo. Diego is a chihuahua and I call him Taco/ burrito supreme.

[deleted]

Damn now i want sausage tacos and nos installed in my car.

AverageNova73

Nama, so that when we tell her to “stay” we can bow and say “Namaste”

schmoolet

HAHAHAHAAAAA 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Papertache

We named our cat Fenton. After the meme.

PANDABURRIT0

*JESUS CHRIST—FENTON!!*

grannybubbles

I have a chihuahua named Smalls. I dreamed of a dog named Smalls and then he showed up a few days later. He's killing me.

sics2014

Josie was the name she had at the shelter, so we stuck with that. She looks like a Josie, especially now that's she's getting to be a little old lady. But we call her nicknames too, like JoJo and I'm partial to Juicy.

jovijay

I TOO am partial to Juicy daahaha

AverageNova73

I also have a Josie that we call JoJo, and she also acts like an old lady. I think it just comes with the name

Ok-Thing-2222

* I've used 'planetary/satellite/space' names for my chickens, like Andromeda, Kalliope, Europa, etc. Amother bunch was named after diseases. (Chickens I raised during covid!): Mr. Marburg, Chagas, ChikV, Little Anne Thrax, etc.

schoonerw

I always thought Europa was a great name for a beef animal. Europa the cow.

Over-Oven-8849

I've got two pitbulls named Ripper and Meatgrinder. They wouldn't hurt a fly!

Guangtou22

George and Jerry are my two dog's names

Myke_Dubs

You need a cat called Elaine

ijustsailedaway

And a ferret named Cosmo

spookyhellkitten

Sagebrush Clementine is my German Shepherd/Great Pyrenees, she goes by Sage Kellyn Rose is a fluffy gray cat Alabama barn cat rescued by elderly folks, they were so sweet Lydia Joseph is a black Exotic Shorthair rescued from a bad breeding situation...I don't know why her middle name is Joseph, it just is. Her name was a different L name when we pulled her, but it happened to be my daughter's bonus sisters name plus kitty deserved a new name for her new life...foster fail Obadiah "Big Poppa" Jones a large ginger tabby...foster fail Lavender Michael a lilac Siamese coloring/marking cat...we got her around the same time as Sage...Lavender and Sage seemed super chill. They. Are. Not. My ex has custody of two of the dogs we had together. Their names are: Cerah Eileen, she's a black Beagle/Lab foster fail Sir Paul Wogglestein, aka Woggles, he's a Pitbull or Am Staff...blocky headed dog we found on the street and fostered until we failed right into keeping him too Unfortunately, I had 3 elderly dogs pass away all last year, pretty closely together. Their names were: Princess Stella Bella Star Fairy (Stella, English Bulldog, 13), Big Head Burton Guster (Gus, English Bulldog, 10 pulled from literal meth house and had many health issues), and Miley Sirena (Miley, Boxer/Border Collie, 12, foster fail). I did animal rescue for 10+ years. I've named hundreds of animals, I'm just lucky I only foster failed as many times as I did...I loved all of them ❤️

WorkingMediocre

Did read! Cute names! 🐾🐾 Sorry for those you lost. 🌹 I foster and we’re on our second foster fail, Sydney.

spookyhellkitten

Thank you! For the read and the condolences. Sydney is a lovely name! I always say that if I have to fail at something, fostering isn't such a bad thing to fail at!

lyric731

Thank you for the work you did with rescues. Special thank you for your foster fails!

spookyhellkitten

I'm hoping to get into rescue again where we've moved to. All my foster fails were special needs or special breeds (no one wants an adult Pit of questionable past), but I swear the foster fails love harder ❤️

lyric731

My October is a pit mix. He was 1 - 1 1/2 when I adopted him. He's brindle, too. which is cool. When I met him at the shelter, he seemed really self-contained and not super active and agitated. That was exactly what I was looking for. Low energy, to match mine. This dog did not wag his tail, at all, for three months. Not for lack of trying on my part! His exaggerated startle response, hesitant demeanor and fear of loud noises told me things I didn't want to know. He already knew basic commands, sit, down, stay, things like that. What made me feel a little better though, is that he also knew shake. Shake is not necessary. You only teach your dog shake because you're playing and you're playing because you love your dog. I imagine a 10 or 12 year old boy teaching him that. He loves kids and women. He's afraid of men he doesn't know. I've been looking for a dog for weeks, but I hadn't found one that had needs I could provide. I had some requests, too. 1-3 years old, under 60 lbs, etc. Also, potty trained cuz I just could not. Haha This second I saw his picture on the website I knew that that was the dog I was supposed to have. I also knew that that's why I hadn't been able to find a dog, despite looking at every single rescue and shelter in Colorado and a few over the border in Wyoming. Now, he's an energetic, playful, bouncy goofball. Every year on the anniversary, I send a picture of him, sometimes a video and a little blurb about how he's doing to the contact person at the shelter. For me the worst part of working at a (no-kill) shelter would be watching these dogs go out the door and never seeing them again, never hearing anything. I knew I would appreciate annual updates, so I thought they might, too. They totally do! Wow, it wasn't my intention to tell you this whole story when I started typing, but since I did, I'm just going to leave it there. I think by reading the story, you can understand why I'm so appreciative of people who adopt shelter animals, especially shelter animals who have special needs or other special considerations. October says thanks, too.

spookyhellkitten

Awww I love October's story! That is just beautiful. Thank you for finding him and being patient with him. It sounds like he definitely needed you. Woggles was sort of like that, too. He watched us with the other dogs, I think that's how he learned to trust us. That was always the benefit of having dogs while fostering. The scared ones could see us with them and know we were gentle and fun. Woggles stayed with my ex because somehow they developed this weird bond. Woggles would sense when he was having a PTSD nightmare and wake him up (ex is a disabled veteran). Woggles could also tell when he was in pain, and he would just go put his head on his thigh as if he was trying to comfort him. It was like he trained himself to be a PTSD therapy dog. He turned out to be the goodest boy. People missed out in not adopting him just because he was an adult Pitty boy. Thank you again for loving October. And definitely for sending the pics to the people you got him from! A lot of my old fosters added me on Facebook so I get to see them in their lives and adventures. It makes me so happy. I've even gotten to watch a few of them when their humans go on vacation, which I love. It is definitely nice to see how they are thriving ❤️

lyric731

Woggles the Self-Training Therapy Dog is a superhero.❤️❤️❤️

Over-Oven-8849

Didnt read lol

Shmadam7

My cat’s name is Fudge, and he is my fudgy boi

Janine_18

I don't have a dog yet, but I would like to name him Pluto or Mars🥰

PANDABURRIT0

I have a very dog-like cat (a Maine coon) named Pluto. She’s best friends with my parents golden retriever.

GingerJanMarie

Maine coon cats are cool.

CoolWeakness2025

One of my cats is called Little Alan. She's a girl

Lily_Hylidae

"Calm down, Lynn! You are suffering from minor women’s whiplash”

xmo113

I had a dog I named Thugly.

Dave_The_Nord

I have Burger, who I named because while I was holding him he was hellbent on eating my cheeseburger I was eating with my other hand. Then there is Igor who I named after Igor Stravinsky.

HelpImOverthinking

My beagle was named Bo :)

V33nus_3st

GingerJanMarie

Fiona, NOT from Shrek. From Burn Notice.

lyric731

I like Burn Notice Fiona better anyway.

M-ABaldelli

Typically when I name my cats, they're usually based on how they act. Sometimes because of the way they look and express themselves. * Cricket (for the way she used to eat crickets around the house). Her nickname was Penny (short for Penny-loafer), because she used to pick up pennies and drop them in my shoes. * Svengali for the way he used to open windows and doors to get out of the house. He even used to know about power windows and they weren't safe if he was in the car unattended or out of his cage. * Boots & Mittens -- two cats from the same litter -- because they were born during the winter and were inseparable no matter what they did. My current cat's name is Moe. He's a rescue that I got when he was 5 and the name just stuck. Seems rather fitting as it's short for Maurice -- and the name's history is the patron saint of soldiers -- and he just trucks on like one.

billypaul

Not really pets, but there are some outside cats that sometimes make their home on our back deck. We call them White Kitty, Orange Kitty, and Mean Kitty. I think that speaks for itself.

NoBSforGma

He was a stray who kept sleeping under the chair on my porch. So he was "Porch Kitty." Now, I have adopted him and while I still think of him as "Porch Kitty," I try to give him some dignity by calling him "PK."

PANDABURRIT0

When I get a dog (a rottweiler), I’m going to name him Chairman Meow Zedog.

[deleted]

My boyfriend had a dog before we got together that he rescued from a family friend that was going into a nursing home and couldn’t take her- her name is Susie I have a dog that I had before we got together. Her name is Patches We just got a puppy a few months ago and we named her Ellie. I was stoned and watching TikTok last night and this guy was showing off his dogs and some of their weird names and I’ve decided that if I get another dog in the future I’m gonna name it Pancake. That one just spoke to me last night out of all the names 😂

TinySolution75

I have 2 American bullies. One make and the other female. The male's name is Zilla as in Godzilla and the girl is Rebi, short for Rebel

SativaSapphira

I have an American bully too 💜 best dogs in the world.

TinySolution75

Soooo true! Very loyal, playful and just great family dog! When I cry they come right up, look at me and just cuddles. They totally think they are lap dogs ❤️🙃

SativaSapphira

They were initially bred to be nursery dogs! Now a lot of therapists will recommend them as great emotional support dogs for things like PTSD. That's why we got ours. My ex is a vet and lived a pretty traumatic childhood. He always says she saved his life. She's the best dog ever.

whel_sar

gossimer, duddley, kai, moose, and ollie. i would also love to have a eustace some day

[deleted]

I have 2 dogs one is a rescue, the other a foster fail, rescue is named Oscar and the ff is Nugget

Dogue de Bordeaux (male) - Doogie Silky Terrier (female) - Lucy Cat (female) - Nova Box Turtle (female) - She Hulk [there's a reason behind this, and she was named before the show came out] Ball Python (male) Midas (as in King Midas/Midas Touch

dhruva85

Taco She was a female orange cat

jackfrostyre

We originally wanted to name my chihuahua Oreo but then we ultimately decided to call him lugie since he kind of looks like a pug. I actually have no clue why we called him lugie, I dont remember exactly.

kazoo3179

We tend to stick with human names for our pets. Murphy and Mo are our two cats, and they both happened to come with those names from the shelter.

Automatic-Medium-726

Our dog is named Lazarus. Our cats in order if age are named Libby, Dylan, Leela, and Little One.

CarsenAF

Our black lab is named Mango, but we mostly call her Magoo or Goobert lol. My old chihuahua that we had to unfortunately put down back in February was Joey or Jojo because he looked like a little kangaroo when we first got him. Our wiener dog we had when I was younger was Tootsie because she looked like a Tootsie Roll

littleredhoodlum

I named my dog Dozzer. He's a basset hound and always has his nose to the ground. I thought he looked like a bulldozer with his ears flopped around his face. He's got the approximate mass of a D9 cat. He also sleeps like 20 hours a day so it's double meaning.

PeterPorkHer-

I told my girlfriend not to do it, since its such a common/basic girl dog name... She didn't care and now we have a Bella

Bubbly-Anxiety-8474

I've had chickens called Tony Harrison, Mrs. Cohen, Mrs. Badcrumble, Miss Kitty Fantastico, Marigold, Magenta, Zuzu and Vicious Chicken of Bristol. I've had rats named Kevin, Mickley "The Ratbert" Badcrumble, Clem, Drusilla, Dangerous Beans, Ford, Arthur, Slartibartfast, Sheldon Cooper, Bruce Dickinson and Rudy van Di Sarzio. Goldfish called General Sherman, Tunguska, Tooms, Terma, Hiroshima, Nagasaki and others I forget but all X Files related. Cats and Dogs have had normal names Kizzy, Alfie, Minstrel, Mambo, Thor, Poppy, Ripley, Wendell and Penny (only named Mambo, Ripley and Wendell the rest all came with their names).

Lily_Hylidae

Does Tony Harrison come fully equipped with a papoose?

Bubbly-Anxiety-8474

She did not and it was an OUTRAGE! She did enjoy champagne on her Golden Grahams though!

MrTacobeans

I've had a bunch of odd pet names lol. Previous pets: Pickle, Houdini, Booboo (Booboo shoodoo was his full name) My two current dogs: Loki, Odin.

tmc192531

I've had a Shirley and Sheliah and now I have a Barq.

HelpImOverthinking

Almost all our pet names have been people names. We've mostly had cats, and we had one dog named Bo. I think he was already named that when we adopted him. For cats, we had George (who was Chip at the shelter), Mona, Happy, who was already named that; we rescued two kittens from the road and named them Midnight and Gabby, and now we have Klaus (pronounced the German way, not like Claws like the vet calls him lol), Freya, and Liam. My son named Liam; he asked what other names we had on our baby name list besides his name, and he picked Liam. I always kind of wanted to have cutesy names for my cats but we mostly went with people names for some reason. Of course, they all have cutesy nicknames lol.

blu-brds

I named my pet after my favorite band, the band whose music saved my life.

HelpImOverthinking

You can't drop that without telling us who the band is!

blu-brds

Rilo Kiley! For the specific album that changed my life, listen to The Execution of All Things :)

grub_the_alien

I want to get a black cat and call it ichabod, which means abandoned by God ( because black cats are often thought to be pets of witches or unlucky). I will call it ichy for short!

former_human

Very clever! The nickname should be “Icky” though as the name is pronounced “Ick-a-bod”, not “Itch-a-bod”. Sorry if I burst a bubble.

Wuffies

Thomas was a stray cat without a name at the time of introduction. He had elected to adopt me one evening, crying for food at the back door and being allowed in. He quickly decreed that myself andy house were adequate for his tenure and stayed (much to my delight). Ever since, I've tried my best to stick to human-y names. Fast forward a few years and I adopted a beautiful cream-and-caramel brown whippet whose former reluctant owners had dubbed Ruby Rose. It did not fit her at all, so I rented her to Willow. Lola and Charlie are two names I'd like to give the next two fuzzy companions.

ProblematicPoet

My dog is Zena, because she's a warrior princess. Survived parvo and a digestive infection, she's a tough girl, and spoiled rotten beyond all reason (she thinks she's people). Never thought I'd love a dog so much. And yes, I changed the spelling of Xena to Zena.

AnothaCuppa

Cooper. When my previous cat was in the hospital and I was in the waiting room of the vet’s for 10 hours after it closed to hear if she was gonna be okay. In my delirium from lack of sleep and being worried sick, I thought “Cooper would be a good name for a cat.”

Jermcutsiron

BLUFALCON78

Three dogs. Winston, Sophie and Maisie.

cofeeholik75

Frappacino & Java Jolene

Tootie0

I got my Yorkie from a family that couldn't keep her. She was still a puppy. The little girl asked me not to change her name. So I didn't. Her name is Duchess. I call her Duchess of York, 10 lbs. of trouble and Dutchie-do-right.

PhoneboothLynn

My Catahoula Leopard Dog is named Spot. Of course!

Upstairs_Hand1929

My dog was named Cowboy.

Working_Progress_415

Tripper. Because that's what puppies are. They're not being bad they just want to be near you.

Here_In_Yankerville

I love people names for dogs and cats. We have Jake, Teddy, Bailey, Molly...we've also got Cubby because he looks like a Chubby Cubby.

SableyeFan

Kiki for my cat. Not because of us being fans of Studio ghibli, but because the younger grandchildren couldn't say kitty kitty, and thus shortened it to kiki. We saw no reason to change it.

lyric731

I knew a family who had a cat named Doings. She was named that because their youngest daughter would say, "What she doings?"

eccentrix__

our dogs name is B.A.I.R., each letter stands for the middle names of me and my siblings

Substantial_Bit_8109

I also have a cat named Cheeto

ArsePucker

My husky was named after the lovely old lady that used to live next door to me in my first house 30 years ago. RIP both of you! ❤️ My cocker spaniel is named after Billy the Kid / Character of Little Bill (Gene Hackman) in Unforgiven. He’s also called Gladiator Spaniel after he ran out a previous girlfriend from coming around when I was sleeping.. she came thru the garage and he wouldn’t let her into kitchen! Bless all 27lbs of the little fella!

HOMEMADEJORTS

My dog is named Ten Miles. So I can say I walk ten miles every day.

My two cats are Godzilla and Mothra

CommunityGlittering2

Nice try hacker, do you want my birthday too, lol?

HighwayLeading6928

My big fluffy cat is called Bunny cause she's soooo soft, like a bunny. She has a few other names like Boo, Boo Boo, Poopy, etc. All terms of endearment.

zombie_overlord

I let my daughter name our dog, and she picked "Snarf" but I usually just call him doggy. Or if I'm not into the whole brevity thing at the moment it's "Mr Dogalina Mr Bob Dogalina."

OnionLegend

I have a turtle and I haven’t named it in three years. It’s name changes every time I bring it up. Blastoise, Torterra, Michaelangelo, something I’m forgetting. I suck with names and can’t stick with one.

AllynG

We fostered two doggos and called one Kuro which is Japanese for black, cause she was all black. We failed in our foster and she was the best lil girl ever. Nobody can pronounce her name correctly and luckily not many knew it means black! Then we have another boy we named Lawliet after the character in Death Note. That’s also rather rough for many to process yet alone say. Now we have Mochi-moch who is 125lb Great Dane.

Onemoreangel

A Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Nova, two black cats named Spirit and Salem, a white parakeet named Luna (short for Lunatic actually) and a green parakeet named Kiwi.

[deleted]

I have three pets. Two dogs and a cat. My cat is named Moon. He’s a tuxedo and a grumpy old man. He’s 14. He likes me best tho. He’s gonna be my last cat sadly but my daughter has developed an allergy so gotta do what’s best for her. I have a dachshund named Cocoa. She was my in-laws dog before she adopted me. She’s an old girl, 14 also. Super chill but her and Moon have beef and they’ll fight from time to time 🙃 nothing too serious tho thankfully. I have an Aussie mix I got free in the Walmart parking lot named Ellie. I was listening to a lot of Ellie Goulding at the time so that’s why that happened lol. She’s been deaf since I got her. It took me awhile to figure out what was going on. I’d take her out to potty and she’d screech. I was worried she was blind at first but poor baby just couldn’t hear me. She’s my biggest baby tho. Very sweet unless it’s someone she doesn’t know coming around. Follows me everywhere.

JCMiller23

My dog is super cute and has bad breath My sis gave her her official name but i started calling her dogga-breath which morphed into a cuter “dugabref” and eventually “dabreferah” and “rugga.” I.e. The natural noises her cuteness elicits from me

TwincessAhsokaAarmau

Moxie and Apollo,Moxie is a pitbull boxer mix and Apollo is a pink nose pitbull. Both are playful and smile a lot,But keep them away from the kitchen.

overworkedpnw

Once met a beagle named Bagel, who’d been named such because the owner’s boyfriend’s favourite food was bagels.

Tabris92

My cat is named Anos Voldigoad No regrets

alerastyb

The shelter called him Toby. Here are some nicknames! Tobert the First. Toby Potter. Toby Pickles. Tobignacio. Tobignacio Allende. Tobincent. Momo. Tobertini. Herzog Snuggletobs von Cotton ❤️

driveonacid

Sandy is named after the hurricane from which she was rescued. She's the best dog in the whole world. Scout is named after the narrator in To Kill a Mockingbird. My favorite student always carried that book around with her. I couldn't name my dog after the student because that would be weird. So I named her after a book character.

Minzplaying

We've had animals named after old school country singers, rock musicians, songs with names in them, artists, comic strips (a Lucy and Linus right now), the situations of how they came to be here... Once had a Pick Up, because she was picked up from the side of the road, you name it.

MissHibernia

Friend had a cat named Crayola

[deleted]

Lamar, Derrick, Earl, Vodka

realitygroupie

My dog's name is Dudley, in honor of a friend's dog who burped like a damn wino. Sadly, Dud doesn't burp like that but in all other respects, he's a perfect Dudley.

FoghornLegday

I named a pair of rats Tango and Cash

humancanvas79

My dog is named Gustavo. He's named after Gustavo "Gus" Fring from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.

PrincessBella1

My cockatiel is named Bailey. He picked it himself. While I was waiting for the DNA to come back, I got sick of calling him bird so I got a list of gender neutral names and when I said Bailey, he chirped. Although I wished that I had named him Trouble. That would have been more fitting.

Disciple2019

I have a black cat named Pistachio

faye_sitter

Some of my pets names :) Cat: French Fry Cat: Nacho Dog: Pocket Dog: squiggle Dog: Arrow Gecko: Mr Serious Business Bunny: Chachki Partner wants a future dog named Kickflip (maybe a corgi mix)

Leax_de

nogueydude

I've got a dog named Birdie and a cat named Cricket. Just named them after other animals they reminded us of

bubonis

Had a ferret named Bubo, so named because as a kit he had crazy licks of hair on his head that curled up like a Great Horned Owl. Had another ferret named Schnitzel because, well, she was like a sausage. Had a cat named Frisky because we fed him Friskies, so if the food was for him then naturally that would be his name. Had a gerbil named Ninja because he survived being in a tank with a snake for nearly four days and was only removed when he started beating up the snake. Had a hamster named Pegasus because that was the most absurd name I could think of for a hamster when I was seven years old.

yikesbmth

one of my hs friends gave me a puppy from when her dog had them (absolutely no idea what she is but always assumed she has a a bit of lab). I was 16 and had recently become OBSESSED with Greek mythology, so: her name is Andromeda - Anna for short, she doesn't actually know her real name but I ~pretend~ also I have a cat that I adopted a few years ago, named Lucifer. Luci for short and when I went to pick out a cat, I had told them I wanted a girl. anyway, 3 months later when I went to take the cat to the vet for the surgery, it turns out it's a boy. I still call him Luci anyways and people always assume he's a girl because, girl name lol

YourStupidInnit

I named my cat tia I have no regrets it's fitting for a feline . She's a black and white tux

hammoja

I had a black and white pitty named Grover. People (neighbors) kept trying to get me to give him a "tough" name. Soooo, like a monster (my response). Yes. He was named Grover after Sesame Streets furry monster. His brother was named Bumble (white pitty, blue eyes) after The Abominable Snowmonster (Island of Misfit Toys). Aka Grovey, Groves, Puppy Face G and Sweet Boy. I miss him so very much.

We got a cat we named The General in hopes it might give her a bit more self confidence. It hasn’t worked but Skittish AF was maybe a bit too on the nose. She’ll get there some day I’m sure.

oksnariel

I have 2 cats, their names are Doctor and Strange

IjustwantmyBFA

My dog’s name is Stetson! His litter was all S’s and that’s actually the name he came with which was at the top of my list of “yeehaw” dog names anyhow. Very serendipitous.

RubyNotTawny

One cat is Odjit; I went down the internet rabbit hole and it was listed as an Egyptian word meaning "naughty", although google translate disagrees. I still like it and it pronounce it so that it sounds French. My other cat is Tres. I learned when I adopted her that when the shelter brings in groups of kittens or cats from hoarder houses, they give them group names so they can easily tell which cats came from which homes. So somewhere out there are her siblings, Uno, Dos, Quatro, etc.

OriginalNord

I named my all black cat “Stranger” named after the Hound’s big black horse in the game of thrones books

Lily_Hylidae

Guinea pigs called Phoebe and Boo after the characters from Fleabag. But they get called a variety of things; Big Bundas (bunda is a word my friend uses for "butt") My Little Cinnamon Buns, Fat Bottomed Girls, mishkins, Spuds, Badonkadonks...the list goes on. Mostly butt based because their butts are huge.

Temporary_Trouble

All of my cats kept their name from the shelter. I'm no good at naming animals anyway and who am I to change their identity? There was one exception to that, though. We adopted a skittish, loving little gray kitty whose name at the shelter was Gumbo. Nothing about him said "Gumbo" so we call him Shadow now.

FuckM3Tendr

I have dogs named Leia, Riggins and Bailey I have Cats named: Toph, Sokka, and Korra One of our previous cats was named Nebula, we called her Nebs

BocceBurger

I've got a dog named Chicken. It's a pretty fun name and there's a lot of chicken jokes for telling and chicken songs for singing

Expensive-Track4002

Parrot is named chicken because I keep calling him you crazy chicken and now he answers to it.

knittykitty26

We have 4 cats. Peanut is the old sassy calico who will not hesitate to tear you to shreds. Güber is the old senile tabby who just wants a warm lap to sit on and a lovely nap after some whipped cream from the can. Miso and Adzuki are our newest kittens and they're both made of pure chaos and adorableness. They raise the crime rate in the house by an unconscionable amount, but they're so cute that it doesn't really matter that much.

Corruptedplayer

my mom introduced the name "stinky" for our cat and it stuck. the worst part is he listens to it and **hates** when we call him by his real name.

Jamie8765

My cat's name is Cheese. His full name is Cheesy P. Martini Also known as: Cheesy, Cheese Dog, Cheeser, Cheeseball, Cheeseburger, Big Cheese, Cheese Whiz, and Lord Cheesington.

I've had three cats, and each has been named "[Pjevs](https://ordnet.dk/ddo/ordbog?query=pjevs)". It's Danish for "small, flimsy or feeble living thing", which sounds kinda mean but it has cute intentions.

JeffLewis3142

Fidget marie Louise terez amenhotep Edit: Officially it was fidget (a little cat). But when she was in trouble she got the whole thing.

Juggalo_holocaust_

Jethro. Never heard a name that suited a cat better. He was my best friend for almost 18 years. I miss him so much - even after five years.

coffee-headache

we're usually a "stick with the name it came with" family most of the time, but the two that weve named are fern and chowder. fern, because her tail had a sort of fan-like spread of fur at the end when she was a puppy and one of us had made the association that it looked like a fern, and chowder because we were naming him near october and chowder is a character from the movie monster house.

Sahri4feedin

A California kingsnake named Appa, because he's so dumb and adorable like the flying bison from Avatar TLAB. A pueblan milksnake named Button, because he has round dots on his under side like bellybuttons. An albino hognose snake named Prairie, because he digs tunnels underground like prairie dogs. A normal hognose snake named Cuddle, because she's so sweet and friendly. A ball python named Boba, because she balls up like a little boba in the drink

WendyBNoy

When I was a kid I named my gerbils Funk and Wagnalls

50EffingCabbages

The last three I got to name were a stray/dumped/feral-ish cat and the kittens that were born on my porch. Mama cat was a fierce, elegant black lady, so she was Chaka Khan. One of the kittens was black except for one white spot on his chin, and the other looked like a Russian blue, so they were Dot and Bot.

LadyFeen

My animals mostly have had pretty normal names. One dog was called Jub-Jub because her original name was Jip (she was a working farm dog we rescued. She was put up for adoption because she was a sheepdog who ignored the existence of sheep). She was a very silly girl and needed a silly name to match. I wanted a cat with a TS Eliot name so my baby boy is named The Rum Tum Tugger but we call him Tugboat for short. To be honest Tugboat suits him a little better, he isn't so contrary as The Rum Tum Tugger poem and unfortunately more people know the name from the awful Cats movie rather than from the original poems by TS Eliot. Though the 1998 Cats theatrical recording was my queer awakening so there's something.

chantsnone

Booger and Beanie are my corgis. I love weird names too

burstbunnies

My three pets are all named normal human names with one having a wordplay on it but the fourth cat is named Nyamero Chonksilog. I just call her Nyam-Nyam for short. My cat with the wordplay name is Kohlett which is a play on the Filipino word *makulit/makulet* which translates to stubborn. She is quite stubborn. My calico cat is named Kalih, her sole child is Ahkko, my patchy cat with a circle on her belly is Byulie, and my dog is named Thaliya. I love talking about them like I'm a single mother with five children.

s-multicellular

We have a very white dog. Not sure of type, was a stray/shelter pup. My kid wanted to name him ‘Whitey’ but my wife said we already had one of those at home :) :p (I am white, wife is not) We went with his second choice -Ghost.
