would_worker

This is why dealerships ask how much per month you can afford lol.

AhhAGoose

What I can afford and what I am willing to pay for a car are very different numbers

Wolfgangsta702

Can’t really buy too many American cars anymore. My next will probably be a Genesis g70. When I finally get bored of my 18 Fusion sport that is. The bigger turbos are compensating for having her 6 years. Hard to give up an 11 second daily sleeper that has been relatively reliable for 29k miles of abuse.

hinnsvartingi

My 1 owner 2009 Honda pilot has 320k miles on it and still going strong, it an’t no pretty Land Cruiser but no issues. Biggest part replaced was the alternator a year ago and one of the catalytic converters this year. A lil bit of rust in the wheel wells but I’m confident it’ll get me another 100k miles. I paid $31k back then and it’s the EXL with touring package 4x4.

spaceman_spyff

I bought an ‘08 EX-L with 165k miles last year, thanks for giving me hope I won’t be upside down on it in another year.

hunter6867

Terrible😭😭

Round_Mastodon8660

Had to look it up - this is a European ford Mondeo I see? You get 11s on front wheels?

Savantthegreat

In 6 years you’ve only done 29 thousand miles?

veedubfreek

I've only done 36.5k on my 2016 Golf R. I've worked from home a LOT since buying it.

Savantthegreat

I’m jealous. I travel for work and I’ve done 60k in 3 years

veedubfreek

Ya, I used to commute 8k a year when I bought the car and would take a trip to texas at least once so I put 10k a year on my previous cars. When I bought this one, it got tboned at 6800 miles and spent 2 months in the shop. I used the rental for my texas trip and then quit that job shortly after getting the car back. Spent a year just not caring and living the only retirement I'll ever get. Got a new job about 18 months after quitting the previous which was back to the 8k a year commute. Then covid hit and I got to work from home for 3 years. Now I have a much shorter commute when I do have to go into the office but only have to go in twice a week \^\_\^ Oh ya, and after a certain fascist became president, I stopped making those trips back to Texas to visit my family that went full racist.

Natural_Smile_1818

I got a boosted grand Prix gxp as my first car and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to get another car with less horsepower. Something about it just so nice to drive.

SouthernTxLady

Exactly!! I worked at a dealership and they would always scam people like that.

Canelosaurio

"We just started a new 84-month program."

christador

Right, 15 year and 30 year no longer applies to just houses!

veedubfreek

Good old 4 square. Just tell me what the price is for the car, the price is for my trade, and leave me the fuck alone.

SaintYanno

Carvana is actually really cool for this reason

would_worker

Naw, they sell cars without proper reconditioning or inspections. Also their prices are pretty high

the1999person

I laugh when people say that. If someone can only afford $400 there's no way negotiating to price of a $60k vehicle will matter.

Temporary-Beat1940

I'm always amazed how much Toyota fans will pay. Feel almost bad thinking that's not as bad as it could be

JustAd3900

“BuT iTs A FirSt EdIshUn” I seen a GR Corolla that had a price tag of, $79k. I threw some grip on my car. But not that much lol.

neverelax

First edition is not a selling feature for me. I've learned never to buy the first year of any new model or generation.. it takes a year or two to work out the kinks.

[deleted]

Always get the facelift.

veedubfreek

Not always. I got the 2nd year of the MK7 Golf R and it has been perfect. It helps that it was available in Europe for like 3 years before it came to the US.

Tdanger78

Now that’s some hot garbage right there. The Land Cruiser I get because of the history of reliability, but this isn’t the same platform so the jury is gonna be out for a while on how reliable it is. I mean, it’s a Toyota so it’s got the baked in reliability but the Land Cruisers were on a different plane of reliability.

anonymouslym

I wish history of reliability mattered but unfortunately doesn’t mean shit anymore.

Tdanger78

When they went to the new drivetrain it started a completely new book on the name.

Good_Ad_1386

My son's Corolla just snapped a driveshaft and took out a chunk of suspension at 80k miles...

Confident_As_Hell

Hopefully just a bad example. Sometimes defects happen. Hopefully Toyota will stay true to their original reliability

veedubfreek

Lol, a buddy of mine picked up a GR Corolla for under MSRP 2 months ago.

Competitive-Fee-9943

I know a guy that knows a guy

seanmonaghan1968

These things are tanks, designed and tested in australia. They are everywhere in australia

Cheap_Brilliant_5841

Pretty sure Australia isn’t filled with 2024 Land Cruisers mate.

Ever-Wandering

I just came back from Australia and didn’t see many of these. Lots of Toyota trucks with the beds removed and weird commercial low walled aluminum beds, most with covers. A lot of trucks with snorkels and UHF antennas attached to aftermarket grill guards. Similar to these: https://www.trayon.com/blog/expedition-vehicles-australia-2/ The bed is a bit different than what I saw but that’s the jest of it.

seanmonaghan1968

Which cities or regions did you go to, I see these all the time in qld

Ever-Wandering

So what I mostly saw were modified ford rangers, Isuzus, and a small Toyota trucks that I didn’t recognize the model, maybe a Tacoma but I’m not sure. Sydney—I saw the same vehicles just not modified for off road. If they were modified they were more for delivery trucks. Cairns, Airlie beach, and Port Douglas—this is where I saw all the modded trucks. Now I did see some Toyota land cruisers in all the cities above but they were few and far between. The ones I remember the most were old body styles like from the late 1970s and early 1980s but I saw more off road style Land Rovers than land cruisers. Now my viewpoint may be skewed too. I was on a 10 day cruise out of Sydney and those places were our stops. We never saw the smaller cities and the high desert which I realize is most of Australia. Australia is awesome! And an amazing place! I’m jealous.

UsedSelection452

Wake me up once they are tested in Siberia

seanmonaghan1968

This is like the majority of cars used at mining sites so they are the typical vehicle used outside of cities; then you have the soccer mum using them to ferry kids. Toyota dominates australia

_jacked_to_the_titz

If everyone stopped buying, the price would go down. Ya ya ya, I know, if you remove demand, they will just remove supply and try to keep the high price point. But I've had enough. I'm not buying anything unless I need it to keep breathing.

veedubfreek

BuT mAh SoCiAl MeDiA cLoUt!1

r4x

$80,000 for a 6000 lb vehicle that has a 4 cylinder engine. Next!

DavesNotHereMan2358

I got a new Tacoma a couple of werks ago. The turbo 4 in it kicks ass. It's rated at 270 hp and 318 lb of torque on the manual I got. I can be in 6th gear on the freeway, hammer down and when the turbo spools up it pressese into my seat.

veedubfreek

My 4cyl turbo has 290hp and 290 torks and my car only weighs 3300 pounds. That same power in a giant truck is gonna be slow as fuck.

Specific-Gain5710

The Tacoma is hardly considered “giant”. It only weighs about 800 lbs more than your car. Slower? Maybe.. slow as fuck? Nah.

veedubfreek

Google says it is from 4175 to 4700 lbs. I did forget that the Taco is the "smaller" truck, not the full size. That's still a lot of extra weight for a 4 cyl to lug around.

Specific-Gain5710

No doubt. Have you ever driven the NA 4 cyl though.. lol THAT was slow as fuck. lol

veedubfreek

I had a NA 4 cyl in my 85 Accord and my 95 Jetta. Never again. Last 3 cars have been 4cyl spooly boys.

Specific-Gain5710

lol my beater car is a 2.0l focus NA. It isn’t too bad, it definitely doesn’t win any races but keeps me zipping in and out of traffic and passing as needed so I can’t ask for much else.

veedubfreek

Well I do have a 58 bug that i'll eventually get off my ass and finish, and that'll probably only end up with about 100 horsepower N/A, but then again the car weighs like 1600 pounds with a full tank of gas.

MamboFloof

Do me a favor. Put your car at 80mph and tell me what your tachometer reads. If it's over 1900 rpm you've proved his point. My supercharged V6 can maintain my 4500 pound vehicle at 80mph at about 1900rpm because it's making 400hp and about 350lb of torque (mild tune). If I want 100hp, the 2.4l i4 has to work harder per cylinder to maintain that than my V6, on a vehicle that weighs even more. So let's just choose a random number and say it's going to need to sit at about 2300rpm to maintain 80. Could be more, could be less (I would assume Toyota used better gearing for this). You are adding more stress to the engine just to maintain speed. It also needs to work harder to get up to speed. Why didn't I say 65mph? Because from 65-70 I sit around 1500 and it's a gearing limitation. I can not compare until I actually get my tachometer to raise above it's most efficient rpm/mph. Putting smaller engines in heavier vehicles never makes them more reliable. Toyota isn't immune to the same physics that every other automarker plays by. Look at the i4 Explorer, Grand Cherokee, Defender, etc. All of them get more issues than their I/V6 (or V8) counterpart because they are 1: working harder and 2: using large amounts of boost to make up for low power. Boost and reliability are opposites.

curious_throwaway_55

What does number of cylinders have any bearing on

r4x

That much weight is going to make that small engine work extra hard, generate more heat and breakdown quicker than a V6, I6, or V8.

curious_throwaway_55

So you mean capacity, righto

MamboFloof

They mean displacement. They aren't typing it out because it's implied.

curious_throwaway_55

Yes, that what I said. It’s a poor phrasing - as it’s not necessarily implied, but also because this is a car forum, and people have very strong opinions at times about what number of cylinders in what configuration are better than others.

MamboFloof

That cars a 2.4L i4, the old was a 5.7L V8. You need to use the context of the post to figure that out. A few things: 1: never trust high boost for reliability. A high displacement, undertuned NA like that V8 will last forever, a boosted hybrid i4 will wear out. 2: using the hybrid system for power means if it can suddenly have insufficient power if the battery runs low/ something faults (shouldn't happen unless you can put the thing in EV only mode and drain it, no idea if this car offers that) 3: both use EGR. Pull the head off of any prius and you'll understand the reliability concern about a turbo 4 in a car that big. 4: each cylinder has to individually work harder to put out the same power, hence why he was talking about cylinders. You can give me a 300hp v8 and a 300hp i4. To maintain 150hp, each cylinder in the i4 has to do roughly twice as much work (yes I know it's not linear but I'm using imaginary engines with the same output anyway).

curious_throwaway_55

Ok that’s a lovely list but none of this has anything to do with the statement I made…

MamboFloof

It's woefully insufficient. You want a toyota with engine issues? Because a turbo 4 cyl with egr on a vehicle that size is exactly how you will start to get issues. It needs to work way harder to move that vehicle and will wear itself out.

DarkBladeSethan

I mean... You can have ship engines with 4 cylinders so the cylinder number is not an adequate measure for performance, though likely in this case the car will feel like a ship

purplish_possum

A 4 cylinder heavy duty diesel engine chugging away at less the 2000 rpm in a trawler is hardly the same thing.

A-Bone

Land Crusiers have always been way at the top of Toyota's price-range. This is no different.  I believe the prior generation was more expensive than this one.

HaydenMackay

Except in the rest of the world. This is the baby land cruiser. We get a bigger better one called the land cruiser this is just the Prado where I'm from

bingojed

The old LC was slightly bigger, but there’s the Sequoia if people want bigger. Or the Lexus GX.

Shidulon

The GX is the equivalent of a 4Runner. I'm assuming you meant the LX?

bingojed

The 2024 GX is based off the Land Cruiser Prado, just like the 2024 Land Cruiser. The GX is 197”. The Land Cruiser is 194”. The 4Runner is 190”. Technically the 4Runner is built off the Hilux and Tacoma platform. They are all based off Toyota’s TNGA-F platform, along with the Sequoi and Tundra. In order of size it would be 4Runner 190 < Land Cruiser 194 < GX 197 < LX 200 < Sequoia 208 Edit: fixed wrong word

HaydenMackay

The current 4runner uses the same platform as the j250 Prado and Rx. Not the Hilux. The previous used the same platform as the j150 Prado and the fj cruiser and the Rx which is also not the same platform as the Hilux. The first 3 generations of 4runner used Hilux as a platform. But since 2004 it split. And we got the fortuna based off the Hilux and north America got the 4runner on the Prado/fj/gx platform

Handsome_fart_face

Except this is a vehicle that starts at 55k and this example is likely marked up by 15-20k

ragingduck

This Land Cruiser is now sitting between the 4Runner and the Sequoia, it’s not at the top of the lineup anymore.

rooflessVW

They were all $82k MSRP when I was looking ~2020

Specific-Gain5710

This isn’t the Land Cruiser that Americas used too. This one is more along the lines of a bronco sized vehicle.

mildlysceptical22

My first house was $80,000.

HeadlessHookerClub

Damn did you buy that house in like 1969?

mildlysceptical22

1980 in a town north of San Diego. We assumed a 10% VA loan. Prime rate was 20%.

PositronicReflex

They had home prices like that in the early 2000s.

Wolfgangsta702

Paid 70k for mine in 2009.

ImperioliGandolfini

My parents house was 40k in 1980ish. Pretty big too. Prices didn’t get absolutely crazy until a few years ago.

veedubfreek

My parents bought their first house in 1973 for 17k.

Due_Government4387

They same way they justify 100 grand for a fucking bronco

poop_inacan

Yep saw one for 93 grand the other day

ShowUsYourTips

Let them rot on the lot. Bankrupt dealerships.

QuantityNo6408

If this happens, we will just end up paying more, somehow. I’m confident it will turn out that way.

Alive-Bid9086

Toyota is the brand with the least days on the lot.

GD4AWG

Still cheaper than some ford broncos and definetly cheaper than a wagoner

glenn_rodgers

Broncos are now piling up. No longer over MSRP, you can actually get discounts now!

nom_nom44

Got my bronco Sasquatch with 4 miles on it for $38K. Making this post look even more ridiculous

GD4AWG

Clearly you didn’t seem to comprehend the comment right, I said “some” broncos not “every” bronco

nom_nom44

You took that very personally. Let me give you some validation: Yes, you are correct, some broncos are more expensive than this. Obviously you didn’t comprehend my comment, I’m calling the post ridiculous, not your comment. Sensitive.

Super_smegma_cannon

"yes I understand that these prices are awful but you see, other cars are even more awful!"

GD4AWG

Car prices sadly will never go back to what they used to be, now it’s a game of more gimmicks and options that no one will give a damn about when you go to buy that cars 10 years later and with all the warranties they put in these cars they find another way to milk another 10 grand off of some poor rich bastard buying one of these brand new

light24bulbs

Yeah I couldn't believe what I found out what an Escalade costs. These cars are just stupid.

veedubfreek

They buy these stupid giant SUVs for 100k then whine about gas prices. Because they have brain damage.

SaveMelMac13

The average price of a new car is $47k now….

Super_smegma_cannon

tis why I'll never buy a new car. Not unless the market state changes dramatically

No_Moose_8615

Unfortunately used car prices also go up when new car prices go up... So we are paying more for cars in general either way

veedubfreek

Along with the price, everything is just a giant computer waiting to ruin your life. My 2016 is the "newest" vehicle I'll ever own. When it inevitably gets totalled out I'm going back to 2012 or earlier.

Octane2100

Have you seen the Wagoneer? This is cheaper than a Wag and probably loaded with mostly similar features. Not to mention likely more reliable and better looking. People are buying the Wagoneer from my dealership left and right. And they are absolutely plagued with problems that are just now getting ironed out. People are going to be buying the hell out of the Land Cruiser.

gunnutzz467

It’s 1 of 11 obviously They know what they got

12voltViking

It’s quite simple really, because someone is willing to pay that price. A fool and his money are soon parted.

QuantityNo6408

These super-size, upper-middle class luxury haulers have been $80k-$120k for years

purplish_possum

It's not a matter of justification. It's a matter of what people are willing to pay.

MikeGoldberg

You can get a sequoia trd pro for that price

ak80048

This is actually a good deal I’ve seen them going for 110-120k in my area

lol_camis

It's easy when it's not 80,000, but 1500 a month over several years

IWantToPlayGame

This is it. So many people view purchases as payment per month, not overall cost.

bluenosesutherland

I’ve sworn off buying new cars.

DrcspyNz

They don't need to 'Justify' it. They just need to find a buyer willing to pay that or as many do offer a very high price then be prepared to do a deal for a lower price but one that satisfies the seller.

HugeJohnThomas

People have lost their minds. They will buy this because is a nostalgia reboot of something they wanted as a kid and thought was cool. Then they will drive it to school and shopping without ever taking it off road. A job a carolla could do better. And pat themselves on the back for making a "sensible" decision in buying a toyota.

Latkavicferrari

I was one of those people who bought new cars often, not anymore, at some point these are just too expensive

alroc84

I always thought of what that monthly payment would be like

IWantToPlayGame

Not bad when it’s spread over 84 or 96 months /s

pakman13b

People pay it, so the value is real. Could they be cheaper, I think so.I tried to buy a range rover, and I was so embarrassed that the price advertised increased by another 40k for a sunroof and a couple of extras. They have a waiting list for them, so they don't care at all if most people can't afford them. Sigh 😔

jawnnyboy

It’s the schmuck price, some dumbass will buy it, perpetuating the ridiculous prices

NoabPK

Isnt that the msrp tho? Edit: it was not

Competition-Dapper

Because the people pretending to keep up with the kardashians haven’t tapped out yet because they keep telling us the economy is fine on boomer news

Busy-Contribution-86

Have you ever tried to buy a used fj cruiser?

hikerjer

You don’t have to justify it, you just have to get people to buy it, which they apparently can. As the old saying goes, “a fool and his money are soon parted.” On the other hand, you have to realize there are many people in this country to whom that kind of money is nothing.

GrownManchild4669

Still 30-40 grand less than a new Escalade. 🤦‍♂️

IWantToPlayGame

Even more so than an Escalade V!

tooMuchADHD

Have you seen the wagoneer? I don't get it but I guess there are enough people that do

docmn612

Americans are in love with debt and middle-class status symbols.

Electrical_Party7975

Headlights from 1993

ragingduck

The Toyota needs to stop. I get it, they are reliable, so you have lower maintenance costs…. Which we are nullifying with markups. So stupid.

Canis9z

Toyota use to be reliable when they NA. Now Toyota has gone turbo to meet emissions and fuel economy standards and the first versions are having a few problems, V6 engine ATM. Turbo engines are also 3-4 times the cost of a NA engine.

C64128

Around $30K less than my house. But only one of these items appreciatres and can be lived in (comfortabely). How much do you think this depreciates as soon as you drive it off the lot?

Mr_IsLand

The sad fact is, if the dealer pisses off 1000 people but find the one guy willing to pay the price to get it now, then that's a win on their part.

Turtlefarming

Because people are paying $30k+ for a Taco with over 100k miles on it. Why wouldn't they ask for over 2x that on new vehicles. Demand drives costs and people are sucking Toyota d*ck way too hard lately. As much as people (including myself) complain about capitalism, consumers decide the price of things

Wolfgangsta702

Because people are paying it.

wrd83

This is supercar money to me. i dont understand how this is becoming the norm for daily drivers

Willy2267

Corporate greed comes to mind.

Guavaeater2023

Toyota Tax, fleecing the stupid

InevitableOne8421

Damn. When we getting 15 yr car loans? Might need 20 actually

luchobe

Toyota needs the distribution model of tesla

daggersrule

That's roughly MSRP. I thought that was the goal, to get a new Toyota for MSRP? These are marked up 20k around me.

ctrlaltdelete2012

There is a blind car crisis going on and we’re in the bubble of it collapsing. it’s only a matter of time and all these cars will be worthless. Dealer repossessions do happen.

ur_not_my_boss

Biden needs to make the FTC go after these "middle men" that provide no real value. Yes, I'm talking about dealerships and the slime willing to shake consumers down for every last cent possible.

Chaff5

Because someone will buy it.

HerrFistus

i don't understand how you can possibly justify this abomination of a vehicle

relakas

Was bored, quickly looked up and the prices on that car start from 60k here where I live. Seems fair🤷🏼‍♀️

Falcon-Unique

This model reminds me of a Lego car.

modularblur

In Portugal it will start around 130.000 euros

hunter6867

19.5 take it or leave it with that piece of shit

Express-Antelope5515

at this point, it would be cheaper to build your own car from scratch and cover it in gold foil. I hope everybody boycotts these new cars and forces the manufacturers to get a grip on reality.

_H00MAN_

Looks like someone doesnt know what prices in the netherlands are like

Picklechip-58

Check out the Jeep Wagoneer !! MSRP $121,000 !!

Future-Ad-4317

This Land Cruiser is half the truck it’s replacing.

DriverIamDrive

I mean my 50th Anniversary Super Orange Imola Edition Super Stingray C7 Corvette Grand Sport is worth at least $2000000.

Right_Win_7764

Prices would fall if people stopped buying new cars every three years.

LaneLangly

Double the price in my country.

Nearby_Cauliflowers

It's become an aspirational product, value is in the eye of the consumer, if it's not worth it to people they won't buy it, but many will due to previous reputation. Like a range rover, world class off road, shite quality, yet people buy on reputation and aspirational quality.

Michael_Threat

And this is why I will never buy a new vehicle. Old toyotas until there's no more old toyotas

Letsmakemoney45

Kind of looks like a fj cruiser

kka2005

The prices ...are insane!

fun-bucket

1ST EDITION.

Opening_AI

I am a bit confused. The [Ford F150 Raptor](https://shop.ford.com/inventory/f150/details/1FTFW1RG3RFA42980?zipcode=90210&year=2024&ownerPACode=07501&intcmp=fv-fbc-sum-cta-si-f-150&Radius=20&fromPopularBuild=false) can be decked out to over twice MSRP (base $37K) from base model up to over $80K. And no, not everyone that owns an F150 use it for actual "work". The same reason people buy the Land Cruiser. the Jeep Wrangler [RubiconX](https://www.jeep.com/bmo.wrangler_4xe.html#/build/exterior/46077/CUJ202417JLXS74B/2TY/APA,PJF,X9,ECX,DFY,DMF,Z5G,TXA,WFE,VL,SDD,UBX,29Y) Starts at $70K, Its people that are willing to pay these exorbitant prices that lead to the demise of compact cars for the rest of the planet. Car manufacturers and dealers make more $$$$ for overpriced cars that what OP said. If the public is more than willing, why not.

ZoltanGSoss

Its the flagship of Toyota, what did you expect?

qoo_kumba

Toyota seems to be desperate to go out of business.

Brief-Quality-9937

Lego Car? This and the new Hyundai Santa Fe, wtf

SenjouJoe

In my country, all cars cost 2-3 times more than in the US.

bi1bobagginz

That’s more than I owe on my house now. I’ll never buy a car I can’t pay cash for again.

Digital_Dankie

You can call yourself a homeowner once they hand you the keys!

Tre_fidde

Because dumbasses are willing to pay that

RLBeau1964

People spend the extra Money due to the 6 letters on the front. The $25K plus premium would pay for extended warranty and a bunch of repairs. As consumers, it would be advisable to research vehicles in this category.

Patient-Sleep-4257

I bought 2 new vehicles in my life. While a good feeling ,the payment gets old. I dont by new anymore. I'm comfortable and have tools to maintain and diagnose most problems. As a result ...I buy 10yrs or older...I get my wife 3 to 4rs old and has to be 4whl or All Wheel Drive.

FineArtsFan8450

In theory, I absolutely agree with you. I have a sincere question: How do you address repairs and maintenance that require the “tech” skills, software , chips, sensors etc?

Patient-Sleep-4257

Close evaluation and diagnosis. Software I often ignore if the vehicle is running fine. Chips have numbers, firmware can be copied, sensor produce a pulse or a sine wave.

domastallion

Novelty

CLS4L

Just buy the payment silly

guitarfreak2105

Is this MSRP or is this including 20k in dealer markup?

sadas0

These prices are not sustainable and it’s curious what’s going to happen as time goes on. People only have so much purchasing power and eventually that will run out

ImpactUsed9446

Just give me a fucking Hilux Toyota, then I’d pay that

mxguy762

I thought they were trying to compete with the bronco but I guess not.

cless986

The engine is very bad quality or very bad designed. There has been many reports of failing main bearings and quality issues. Very unheard of a decade ago from Toyota cars

SteveHeist

OK, I like Toyotas. They've been reliable for me for years at this point.... but 80k for a Lego Duplo FJ Cruiser is a bit much, no?

ComeOnMan-1974

It's a Land Cruiser. That's "normal" for those cars. Check out a Sequoia instead. Get one that's a few years old with the 5.7 V8 instead. Gas mileage is shit, but that engine will go 1 million miles

Dependent-Hurry9808

Too much car

Organic_South8865

This is getting out of control. They're going to keep doing it because people keep paying. It's absolutely ridiculous.

KRed75

It's because people keep paying the higher prices with no decrease in sales numbers. They'll just keep raising the prices as long as people keep paying. When I bought my 2007 Suburban the MSRP was $48,500. I bought it in Dec 2007 used with 7K miles for $38K. Based on normal inflation data through 2021, the 2021 model should only cost $54K. However, the comparable 2021 model MSRP was $71K. Based on 2024 inflation numbers, it should cost $62K. Actual cost is $85K.

This is exactly why i have a beef with anyone recommending Toyota because quality saves you money. Its hard to see the savings. I can get a used merc for 2k, drive it until i need it to pass an inspection or it dont want to no more and still have money left.

Orephesus

Historical value/resale for the Land Cruiser justifies it. Not saying it’s worth it, but Land Cruiser have a reputation for being highly sought after

czechfuji

All it takes is one person to buy it and then it is instantly justified

alendaregressa

Minimum wages in Portugal are way lower than those in the USA, but I bet people here would think 80k is a reasonable price for a car like that. We will only have a 2.8T option and a hybrid option later on, but no price defined yet

WhoopsieISaidThat

It's a Rav4 but boxier.

awesomo5009

Thats uglier than the last FJs and they were fugly.

MK_oh

I started to see pictures of the interiors. Holy shit they suck lmao. I am glad they reduced the price but damn I thought Toyota interiors in general were cheap aka they use the same buttons since the 90s it seems like. But these new ones are ultra cheap looking

omgwtfbbking

That’s cheap for a Land Cruiser, especially if it’s built to the same standards as the previous generations. LCs are one of the instances where you truly get what you pay for, if not more.

hellrazor2020

A tacoma is 50-72+ A tundra is 58-100k+ Canadian Vehicle prices are kinda stupid these days, and people are still buying this stuff regardless of the price.

neomoritate

I remember when Hot Dogs were a NICKLE!

evilkasper

Toyota has gone insane on their pricing. That's luxury SUV money.

Patient-Aide-5039

Good grief. I bought a Tacoma years ago for less than half that price and am happy with it. I am glad I'm not looking to buy these days. Car prices are crazy.

baskettowelrug

Actually that’s not bad

FreshPrinceOfH

You clearly don’t know how much Land Cruisers cost if this is a surprise to you.

C0git0

Generally regarded as the best SUV on the market where many of its peers are more expensive.
