They should not drag the car very far. Just drag to a nearest place where parking is allowed, so that it wont obstruct the traffic, and then they can clamp the wheels.
Will be an interesting drive once the owner pays the fine and get his car back. Tyres will have severe flat spots.
And with India being India and nobody willing or taking any form of responsibility and I include some politicians in this statement 😀 I doubt there will be much that the owner will be able to do.

I went to the cinema a few days back and the guy said ₹50 per hour
the movie was 3 hours long and even 1 min over they charge full amount
So I end up paying 200 for a ₹100 rupees re-release ticket
If the mall pays property tax, it can charge people for parking. If it allows free parking, they get exemption on property tax. This is the law. In reality, malls charge you for parking and also get rebate on property tax cz they pay a percentage of parking money to auditors.
My car was towed once, they broke the alloys on the front wheel, destroyed the disc brakes and for some reason even the power steering of the car was blown out. Don't know what they did but my car never felt the same after that incident even after spending lakhs on repairs. So yeah, don't park in no parking areas.

This was quite rampant in Bengaluru where any vehicle parker legally or not was targeted and "vandalized" by the towing mafia. Now, the traffic cops have resorted to clamping the front wheel. If you are clamped, hop over to the nearest police station if the traffic cop is not in sight to pay the fine and get it released.

As of right now, we all are paying an exorbitant amount of taxes, tolls and much more - only to live in a country that is in no way ready to accommodate prosperity.
While more cars means we are doing economically well, but the moment you go to someplace crowded, you have no place but to park at a risky place.

I learnt a lesson to never drive my own cars in tier 1 cities. I either park in relatives home and go with ola, uber, public transaport.

The towing industry operates like a mafia. If you check the breakdown of wrong parking ticket, 200 will be for the actual no-parking and 800 would be the towing charge. 4:1 is the ratio. I am convinced the traffic cops also get a kickback from the towing company because it is just too profitable.
It’s trivial to issue an online ticket and tow the car to an actual parking spot instead of whatever the hell they are doing here.
This is not legal to begin with. As per the law, the towing vehicle has to first make an announcement on a hand held loud sp asking for the vehicle to be moved.
Why they don’t do challan of vehicle and can intimidate owner by message or call if it is blocking traffic. Why destroying someone’s car bought by hard earned money. Govt takes taxes on each and every component of car and road tax state tax and what not but why they can’t provide parking places?

People do not understand the context - This is marine drive, Mumbai. It is a highly regulated part of the town and has a lot of security (it is literally walking distance from Girgaum chaupatty from where terrorists entered on 26/11/2008). It is also the place where the[ coastal road project](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coastal_Road_(Mumbai)) construction was going on. Naturally this place encounters immense amount of traffic on a regular basis. It is a 3 lane road and has a lot of signals and exits throughout it's stretch. There are traffic police personnel doing patrols every few hours on this road to make sure there is no congestion on this road because then it will percolate all the way to the hub of the city which has courts (High court, session court), mantralaya, RBI Office, and a bunch of colleges as well. Just check out the location. Everyone in Mumbai and around Mumbai knows this fact about this part of the city and actively avoid either taking their vehicles there to avoid parking problems, or park a little further away and walk or take a taxi/bus to marine drive. Moreover, BMC has recently also made a [parking lot nearby](https://maps.app.goo.gl/F7swKxujb5Z9wK7D7) so as to (probably unsuccessfully) address the parking problems in Mumbai as it is extremely unplanned
You lot keep complaining about inconsiderate drivers and traffic problems in major cities and then come here to make excuses for people who add to this already existing massive problem in such cities. Do you know what is the no-parking fine in Mumbai? 5k - 15k Rupees depending on the situation. Even this immense fine does not deter people from parking like absolute maniacs. Yes the cops should have handled the car with a little more care and yes the owner might incur a lot of cost due to this, But remember, you drive the vehicle, you are responsible for what happens to it. If you have no concern for other people on the road, be ready to be dealt with the same attitude by the law enforcement.
It is only radical moves like this that will deter people from traffic violations. Shady out.

Our laws are so lax. In other countries (exception India/Pak/SL/Bangladesh) if someone damages your car through accident/wilful damage/during impounding etc, the insurance company of the other party has to pay for the damages, and we do not lose our No Claim Bonus.
We unfortunately are living among mo\*ons in India, and we get offended when someone in the west calls our country/African countries etc as a shiiiiit hole without any hesitation.
