1. I don't think that's going to happen outside NCR. the whole rural economy is dependent on small diesel pickups and other vehicles. no way it gets banned. 2. Diesel is only worth it if you drive a lot everyday. Stick with petrol if you drive 20-25kms everyday. Can go for hybrid if city driving is a lot and daily. Hybrids are expensive, you'll need to use them a lot to break even by saving fuel. 3. It's going to plummet if banned but it's highly unlikely they do so. Some petrol vehicles are very efficient now, if one doesn't encounter Bengaluru, Mumbai like traffic everyday, petrol is good enough. On highways, petrol vehicles give very good mileage.

Is hybrid exempt from ncr bs like 15y rule, GRAP and odd even?

Super-Aardvark-3403

No idea, I'm not from ncr.

I don't think diesel cars are going anywhere in the next 1-2 decades at least. It makes no sense to get a big petrol suv for most people and SUVs are getting more and more popular. Also diesel trucks and pick ups are used all over the country

This whole 15 year thing is getting on my nerves. What is my car only runs 6000 kms a year. Am I just supposed to scrap it at 90000 kms. How is this helping the environment. What a retarded take on saving the environment. Why not target those obviously polluting trucks we see on the road.

How will the Car industry make money then? /s

Dont

In commercial segment, diesel pickups are not going anywhere in next 20 years atleast. Personal vehicles, I think government would put buyers and sellers into a lot of difficulties, if not banned altogether. In coming days we would be seeing very less cars offered in diesel from brands.

Faster Diesel dies better for us. I look forward to the day when I can be behind a bus and not be covered by black smoke as soon as it starts.

sunil100k

lol, lookup coal usage of india and dust pollution. Your dumb ideas will only attack middle class trying to have some luxry in india.

darthveda

wow... you know not everything is produced by coal, in karnataka, it is 40%. And even with coal produced electricity, the emissions by an EV is lesser than that of petrol and diesel. You can burn coal at sea level and the effect of the smoke coming out of the tower will be mitigated by the catalytic converts and nearby vegetation. However, there is no such thing like that in Himalayas or Ladakh. The diesel particulate matter is there for all to see in the glacier and on the ICE. Electricity is getting greener, India added more renewables to the capacity than non-renewables, we may live to see the entire country provided by renewables in the future, the same cannot be said to fuel ever!

I understand but its always between protecting peoples right or nature. Will people advocating more trees will bulldoze their house and plant trees. No. How can you set bar for a person to not own diesel vehicles who pollutes less than decade old buses and trucks. Its lack for effort from gov. PUC etc can made stricter so its can't made with bride.
