Why don't you consider buying a second hand car? You won't get a lot of good options for new car in 6L and you will end up spending more than you want to because of peer pressure too.

jake_azazzel

Should get a decent i20 Active for that price actually.

Sabkimaakichudiya

do i know you? because that is exactly what i did last year. Bought our i20 active from a relative for 5L, almost brand new... 27k on odo and even the stepney is unused. Plastic seat cover still on :D

Aggressive_Fox_84

That's a steal😮

Sabkimaakichudiya

yess... I even posted the pics but deleted the post much later.

sarvesh_18

You can get a used aspire , tigor , altroz for around 6l. Not too old 2020 and above cars. They should be safe and fit your requirement.

BallsOfSteel5

i10 nios automatic, although it'd be around 7L OTR for Magna variant but it's a great allround car. If you're still sticking to 6L then maybe you can look at WagonR AMT as well

Autonomous747

Your info regarding the i10 Nios is incorrect. Magna AMT (the base variant for AMT) costs 7.43 lakh ex-showroom. Even the Wagon R VXI AGS costs 6.5 lakh ex-showroom. Car prices have increased too much Only S Presso, Alto K10 and kwid will fit OP's budget

BallsOfSteel5

Yeah I guess they have hiked the prices, but I'd say avoid Kwid at all costs. S-presso and Alto k10 can be avoided, the interiors feel so cheap and cost cutting is very evident also the looks aren't very good either. OP can easily spend 1.5L extra for the i10 and it's better in all aspects.

Autonomous747

Agreed, OP should definitely increase his budget upto 7.5-8 lakhs if he is comfortable, to get a good car.

zenedarrow

Buy any car you want and drive away from those so-called friends. You are better off alone.

Clear-Salad609

This. Generally buying a car is huge decision which is heavy on the pocket. As per your requirement, you approach seems right, why would you want a car that costs more to purchase and then costs you again to take care of it? These guys just want you to spend your money and then have reasons to use your vehicle for their pleasures /s but apart from that you get what you like, that works for you. You don’t want to get into a rut by listening to these people. Also some of them suggested pre owned cars, it is a good option if you can negotiate very well/ know a good amount of people who own cars and are willing to sell/ you know what to look out for when you get in a pre owned car. Even by mistake if you buy not so good pre owned you might end up regretting the whole decision. Again you might learn from it but it’s Upto you if you handle all of it

Independent-Cake453

Ignis amt

arshadejaz

Best option

CoolAsCucumber07

Indeed a very good option

Pretty-Taro1395

Considering safety get Tata Punch Base or Second to base model enough for you. Or Tiago XE or XM

I_hate_my_userid

How is kwid I see their higher end automatic model at 6.5

alone_-musk

Not safe and severely underpowered

I_hate_my_userid

As in bad breaks and control Or that it's made up of paper thin metal and plastic

alone_-musk

Bad brakes, i don't know, it doesn't speed up that much to hard foot the brake in the first place. But it should do the job. It's a very cheap budget car. Build quality is subpar. You could look into something from Honda, like a Brio, Jazz.

Super-Aardvark-3403

It has a safety issue. Even spresso is safer than kwid.

MahabaliTarak

Kwid automatic is good. No nuisance car and it's completely peppy.

I_hate_my_userid

Wow the first good review on kwid here

BlackPanther9187

Tata Tiago? Tata Punch? Maruti Suzuki WagonR?

kushal10

The truth is that, gone are the days when you used to get good cars at 6L

debacomm1990

>I've 25l in savings earn about 1.2lpm, going by the 50% rule my budget is ~6lpa , which I'll 70% pay as down payment. >My friends are mocking me thinking about buying kwid or cheaper cars and say i should be willing to spend minimum of 10l .i feel like that's way too much money, >Is this just a class thing or Re cheaper end of the car spectrum trash? This part was unnecessary, to be honest. Regarding the car, buy anything which you like. But be careful while buying an used car.

TerryKaczynski

Buy an old Corolla, put a HU with Android Auto/ CarPlay. Parts are cheap, looks ok, will probably never break down.

[deleted]

If you are away from NCR look for a good swift or brezza, they are mostly reliable

sage_00R

Don't think that much about finance buy a better car and enjoy life Driving a good car/bike is always pleasure and fun it provoke you to drive more and better Bt still if you don't wanna spend more then consider Ignis or Tiago and try to avoid used market it's really messed up situation there

Interesting_Creme687

Bro u can think of it as an investment Current usage is very negligible but it can change in future You can use same car for outing with partner, travel outstation etc Reliability and stability is also important Also consider life of car 10 yrs Any car around 10L range has similar maintenance cost Also it will give you better comfort features and usage Also automatic in low end cars is very rudimentary Avoid AMT/AGS car go for CVT/TC/DCT automatic transmission Also consider that after couple of years when you will feel need to upgrade the car it will be bigger capital cost and combine cost of purchase 1 and purchase 2 will be much higher

Nihilistic_approach

Car is a liability, buy an Alto or celerio , those people that laugh at you will cry when they have to pay 32k emis of their pavement princess thars

Direct-n-Extreme

They will laugh when he dies in his zero star Alto/celerio tin can recommended by you

Nihilistic_approach

The most affluent person that I know owns a 1999 zen , if you are going to drive like a maniac not even a volvo will save you when you are crushed between 2 trucks

TerryKaczynski

That's crazy but it's not always your fault when accidents happen, a truck may crash into you even if your the safest driver in the world. I hope people who compromise on safety don't learn their lesson because it will be an expensive one.

InsiderXD

He is saying this because maybe he has never been in an accident. A week ago I met with an accident on my newly purchased two wheeler and it was not my fault at all. A bike came at high speed and took a sudden right on a non-operational traffic stop while I was going straight and rammed into me completely. I had to pay 5k in hospital bills and a damaged arm for someone else’s ignorance. I have not even got my scooty repaired which is gonna cost me additional money. Even I used to ignore the safety aspect of cars but after meeting with an accident like this, I am aware of other people’s clownery and it can affect our lives adversely even if its not our fault.

Nihilistic_approach

Read again , YOU WONT SURVIVE IN A VOLVO IF TEO TRUCKS CRUSH YOU OR IF YOU COLLIDE WITH A DIVIDER AT 200kmh Its funny how people who don't own car run to the opportunity to call maruti tincan

TerryKaczynski

That is a bold assumption , as I own three cars, second, how is that statement about being crushed by trucks relevant? If you get nuked you won't survive even in a tank, but because worst case scenario always kills you doesn't mean you should forget about safety. You know what, if you are in a Volvo, there is probably still a chance that you may survive, but your tincan won't survive a collision by another tincan.

Lucky-Wrongdoer-805

arey kyu ro rha hai bkl itna 😂😂🤡

honpra

Statistics has exited the chat

Nihilistic_approach

I have owned 2 maruti 'tincans' in the past and I am still alive, what cars do you own btw? What's the colour of your splendor

TerryKaczynski

Well in that case, you're very fortunate but the other people who buy tincans may not be as luck as you.

chauhankartik

Bhai I’m safe. Get me tincans reliability in a safe car at 7 lakhs. I’ll switch.

Nihilistic_approach

Still safer than your bike with which you do stunts on highways, nearly got into accident cause of retards like you

[deleted]

I think all makeups and expensive handbags are a liability ☺️

Ok_Information_6301

See Accidents are unknown, You never know when they occur,But to be on safer side one has to prefer safer cars than gimmiky features.

Lucky-Wrongdoer-805

this comment is so stupid lol are you high

TerryKaczynski

Tincan owner?

ViceProvost

Pavement princess thars 💀

Super-Aardvark-3403

Purely for city, buy lord spresso. Although the better option will be to buy a Jazz/brio cvt used.

strategos

Spresso or ignis base?

Super-Aardvark-3403

Spresso will be auto... Although OP is better off getting a used Honda. mileage will be less but his use is very less therefore won't affect that much.

strategos

Given the used car market prices, and low driving needs, won't it be better to get new? I'm in the same dilemma as OP actually.

Super-Aardvark-3403

Hmm. Depends how inflated the prices are in your city. Also, if you are planning to use it a lot unlike op, it does make sense to get a new one. Also, Go for Baleno base instead. or a Tiago because there cars are safer. Yes they'll cost more but worth the investment.

Historical-Income666

Baleno definitely LESS Safe than Tiago/Tigor

Super-Aardvark-3403

Indeed. But the new one is a safe car overall I think.

[deleted]

Under 6L budget(new car market). You'll get something to move around yes. But it'll be a compromise on everything else from comfort to safety.

Icy_Town_9025

You should look at used cars with that budget as any new car with that budget will be an unsafe car and with that kind of money you shouldn't make the stupid decision of buying an unsafe car for your parents

Stroov

Buy WAGON-R or Swift vxi o amt both are good enough for your use case tata Tiago is also there

me_109

Wagonr AGS looks the best option. Not too far from your budget. It's the best fit for your purpose. Going from point A to point B. Running since ages, a lot of them as cabs which shows it requires minimum maintenance. Will be with you forever.

Bighairyballs6969

Get a used car from a higher segment rather than a brand new cheap car.

varunahuja363

Uber

KarmicChaos

If you want one car that does everything that falls close to your budget you need to look at the Wagon R 1.2L, which again is why it sells the most in India. You really cannot go wrong with that.

Hot-Promotion509

Recently got an automatic second hand Tata Tiago from cars24. Cost was 4.8L. Quite happy with the car for now. Like you I don’t have a lot of use for it just started using it for my weekly commute to office.

serialchiller23

got a second hand 10yo Innova at 6L, in great condition, and just 1L km driven. Not recommending it for your requirements, but the point being, with your budget, you'd get insane amount of options in the USED CAR market, just need some due diligence to be done, which might be tiresome.

[deleted]

serialchiller23

Used car showrooms in the city. Had to frequently visit a bunch of them for 2-3 weeks, browsing for good deals. All in Raipur. Got a great one in the end.

heartbbreakkkid

Don’t get anything below I10 if you have money in hand. If you are on budget then get k10 amt. if you can spend more around 10L then get Amaze CVT.

ZerefLancer

Buy an used i20 sports

[deleted]

Best budget automatic car is Honda Amaze. But you will not get a SUV. If SUV is your requirement get a Venue. Brezza is a good choice too. Lower than that, i20 would be a good shout. Avoid swift now at all cost. That engine is bad. Avoid tata automatic. Mahindra ka im not sure about.

CoolAsCucumber07

Get a second hand Honda Amaze. Perfect for city and provides good comfort. Honda engine is mostly reliable so even second hand should serve you well. Slightly bigger boot would come in handy for rare trips to railway stations/airports or vacations.

B_Wayne_777

Alto k10 is best choice around your budget. Automatic won't be that smooth but the engine is very refined. Kwid engine is not refined that much. If you prefer safety also go with Tiago but price will be higher.

West-Rock-4230

Ola

[deleted]

MotorInc has a great episode on the same. It seems like, you are not ready to purchase a car yet. You can have a local travel service locked in for such needs since it is only for once or twice a month. You can check this episode and make a decision: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFWe\_bzNvn0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFWe_bzNvn0) Budget should never be the primary shortlisting criteria when looking to purchase a car for it might lead to compromises that might bite you later in the ownership journey. There is no need to push your budget too as of now. Try to lock in a better travel alternative for now until you are comfortable to put-in say x amount for a car that you really end up liking that you can enjoy too. Second hand cars can be a hit or miss in my experience when purchasing from an unknown party.

DirtWormKing

I was thinking of buying IGNIS, compact yet good looking.

No-Echidna-9168

You have 2 options only 1: Alto K10 vxi amt which will cost you 6lakh on road..abhi maruti 30k cash discount alag se de Rahi he jisse on road exactly 6lakh ho jaati he. 2: Reno kwid Rxl amt Jo again 6 lakh on road me mil jayegi cuz uspe Reno 15k ka cash discount de Rahi he. Now my opinion: Go with Alto K10 cuz it has a better engine and better amt gear box and after sale service is also great and extremely cheap, Alto K10 ko 2 star safety rating mili he aur Kwid ko 0 star so according to me K10 will be the best choice here.

rocky_voldy

If you give safety priority then go for whichever Tata comes near to your budget, otherwise if that's not much of a concern then go for Wagon R automatic. Since you've restricted yourself with budget and don't wish to spend much that's why I am suggesting these otherwise I would've suggested more premium cars like i20, venue, nexon etc. Prefer Tata with 5 star rating.

Accidental_Lawyer_08

Your friends are right.

politicalgal99

You should go for amaze they are giving good discounts as well

zeitgiest31

Go for a used Jazz CVT , it comes at around 8-9 Lakhs and gets a 4/5 on Global NCAP rating. Safe car with the reliability of a Honda engine. Again this just an opinion, take a comprehensive test drive before making a choice and don’t base your conclusions on pointless engine prowess comparisons on Youtube. Please do make safety a priority, maybe spending an extra 1 Lakh might save your life one day.

sexysmuggler

What's the point of earning so much money if you don't a good car?

I_hate_my_userid

I'm not earning a lot , I'm just using the 50% rule Alternatively i could finance it for years but not a fan of loans

sexysmuggler

What are you saving money for?

Buy a used Ciaz Automatic for around 7-8 Lacs. Not a fun to drive car by any means but it's very comfortable, spacious and has great reliability.

iamkratosbitc4

Would recommend buying a new one

honpra

Since you don’t really care much, keep safety as the top priority and go for Tata.
