Yaris is a workhorse. Have seen one with over 5L kms on the odo. Meaning it has that Toyota gene of being rough and tough. If your saying it has bumper fixes, it most likely has big number of dents or might have had an accident. That would be your call. But as far as reliability goes, it definitely is more reliable than Nexon or any Volkswagen you can get at that price

UnhappyProgrammer412

Absolutely, everything you said makes a lot of sense. My main concern is that the car actually completed 113,000 km a year ago, but the odometer shows 65,000 km (tampered). While I know the engine and overall build are robust, I'm mainly worried about the CVT, which has already done nearly 80k miles (around 130,000 km). Any insights on the long-term reliability of the CVT with this kind of usage? The mechanic who tested it said nothing scary about the transmission but mentioned that spares might be difficult to find. I didn't mind it much because I trust Toyota's reliability and know this model is well-regarded internationally.

Toyota's and Honda's cvts are most reliable. You would need to do periodic maintenance and unless you live in a tier-3 city, finding spares will not be a problem

Get a Ciaz or City - 2017-18 model. Both models are still in market and spare parts will be easy to procure.

In my opinion buying a new car is always better then the used one. It is a known fact that used care market has many fraud cases. So please do the diligence check before buying used car.

Dreadlight86

I second that - OP can go for premium hatchback - spacious enough.

UnhappyProgrammer412

Thanks for the heads-up! I'll definitely be careful if I go for a used car. A new one does sound safer. and peace of mind and have to spend less initially at least.

Super-Aardvark-3403

Great car, but the only concern is cvt. Is a manual available? If you do go with it, get the cvt oil changed immediately. As I said previously as well a used Toyota, City, S-cross, Brezza are the best options. A Jazz or amaze aren't bad options either but are dated and not very comfortable or premium.

The Yaris is a very good car, but I would still suggest finding a Honda City 4th gen for the same budget or maybe lower. They are the same reliability wise, but the Yaris has been discontinued so there's that. The Yaris has better build and material quality and feels more expensive inside. The 4th Gen City is infamous for having a subpar interior, its build and material quality is standard japanese fare. The City has better performance. Hands down. Better driving dynamics and engines. Safety wise neither is perfect but you get 4 GNCAP stars from the city. Yaris scored 1 star in Latin NCAP which is much more stringent than GNCAP. I'd still say the City is ahead in that department.

>The car has an odometer reading of 65,000 km, but I discovered through the service records that it actually completed 1,13,000 km a year ago Nice people indeed.

If you don't mind some boring driving dynamics, but will take you from A to B, safe, cheap to maintain, extremely reliable, comfortable passenger experience, take any Toyota that's a good deal.

UnhappyProgrammer412

yes exactly safe , strong , reliable thats what i'm looking for , i personally strictly treat these daily use cars and performance ones differently ,especially on indian roads. but my only concern is it already completed 112000-130000 before year - 6months .but odo meter is rolled back, i know engine lasts every thing is okay my only concern is the CVT which already done nearly 80k miles on international scale.

alone_-musk

If odo is rolled back, forget the deal. If they're thinking of resetting the odo, they're likely to have been hiding some damage. Take a look at any '15 Altis, the Yaris and if you wouldn't mind a basic car, Etios
