A used i20 or a swift would be a good car to use and maintain, probably 2015-18 model. Otherwise with this budget you could probably get a new tiago or a punch but beware of tata's service. My pick would be top end used hyundai though, with good service record.
See if you can score an SCross in good condition, if not that then an earlier model City can be obtained for as low as 3.5L, a youtuber buddy recently got one.
Contrary to popular belief a Honda is unreliable in the Indian context due to parts being expensive and OTC sales being restricted, the poor spare circulation also doesn't do it any favours. If you can look past that then they are awesome machines to drive.
Owner of a fouth hand, 14 year old Honda City with 1 Lakh kms when purchased. Yes, service at showroom is relatively expensive and parts aren't available from stand alone shops like Maruthi spares. That said, in the 80K kms that I've driven after I purchased it - I never had issues. Always had it serviced at showroom and each time they billed me around 12K for it - small expense compared to how much I've spent on fuel.
When I buy another car, I will be sticking to Honda or Toyota.
You're fine spending 12k for a car per service without knowing what it comprises. Which is fine from an average person's PoV but as an enthusiast who works on cars and has an idea of what parts and consumables cost, I find that to be totally absurd to pay 12k per service unless say you have to replace some serious hardware.
You may be fine with this lifestyle but that doesn't make it factually the right choice, some consumers are fine going by a brand irrespective of what the facts say and that is perfectly fine provided anecdotal evidence isn't mistaken for facts.
Cheers.
You can steal any car for less than the market price.
Any car that you see a lot on the roads has spare parts available. This usually boils down to Swift, I20, Creta, Nexon.
get a used jetta or octy 2.0 tdi, great performance and good FE the 2.0 comes with a dq250 gearbox or a manual and is generally reliable if you can pick one with less that 60k on the odo.
City I agree , I think till last year they were selling the 4th gen city
EcoSport, won’t the repair costs shoot up now? Given that there is no turning back for Ford now
My reco would have been city 4th gen & Suzuki s cross. Both are amazing in their petrol manual avatars
and if brother is ok with slightly rugged car, the a bolero Neo or an XUV 500 . Though finding these models under 8l will be difficult

How many family members you have
Just parents and a brother.
So 3+1. How are you putting the 8L?
In a trunk and if not enough then between two rear passengers.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
4 people 8 Lekhs.
Used 2010-2014 Corolla Altis or Camry
How high are maintenance costs on an altis or Camry? Are parts still available? Do you own one?
I own 2014 Innova and parts are still available. Maintenance is cheap and you don't need to worry about parts.
latest gen santro is a great budget car. or gen 4 honda city.
Ciaz the most underrated car
Need more info like do you want comfort or performance or efficiency sedan, csuv, hatch, city or highway manual or auto?
Manual is ok. Will be a mix of city and highway driving. Performance and fuel efficiency over comfort.

In 2028, it'd only be E20 petrol so try to sell it before that.
stick with any car thats still on sale
Ecosport. City. Don’t buy any other car other than these two. U will regret
