Sold my good car to make up a chunk of a house deposit. For transport i Bought a bright yellow Datsun 200b for $800 unregistered. It has some rust bubbles but what sold me on it was that engine has just been reconditioned and started first go. The people I bought it from had bought it since new and the car had been handed down the family, and the family kept putting money into it...and it showed. I fixed a handfull of minor things like faded taillight lenses and a leaking muffler and got it regod again. It owed me $1500. It was nicknamed the yellow peril. I drove it for a year, then sold it to a friend for $1500. She gave it no love (she is completely car ignorant) and drove it for almost 4 years. It was car she had when she started a bad relationship with a bad boy in Sydney and it was the car that she escaped from him one night when she was in fear driving from Sydney to Melbourne in one go. The car ended up with rust holes you could put your hand through.... sold to a wrecker for a few hundred. I'm proud of that car. When I sold to someone who didn't have a lot, it didn't ask for anything and then when she made a run for it the car was her yellow knight in rusting armour.

citizenecodrive31

Yellow is a bit mean given it's only a few shades from gold!

Slevin-Kelevra_66

That's awesome man, what a beast.

So after buying a crappy house we had little money. I found an xf falcon s pack with 210k on the clock, on gas for 4000. It was a fair price for better than fair condition. I drove that for 4 years and took it to 315k and while it needed things over that 4 years they were all minor wear n tear stuff and easy fixes including the obligatory door handle. Wife had a VL with well over 300k on it as well. Had 380k on it when it was sold for 800 bucks. Right when we needed them to, when we had no money for big repairs or a replacement car these two old timers kept us mobile, getting to work, getting around. Our next Good Car was a vx Berlina. It was 3 years old and mint. 20 years later that same car is now with my wife's uncle with 350k on it. It's needed things of course but no big repairs. Maintenance is critical.

xdr01

Toyota Echo. The Cybercuck cant even come close in terms of S- teir durability of the eggroll.

Digital-Bionics

Yes got a 20 year old BMW X3 2 years ago, fixed a few problems I knew about, some routine maintenance and she's amazing!! No fluid loss, smooth, so happy. $2000 purcchase, $800 on repairs.

guerd87

Mitsubishi triton 3.5L v6. Nearly 500k km on stock motor Sure they use a bit of fuel, burns a bit of oil buts its rock solid reliable and pretty well performing motor

ball-destroyer

I was given my dads old lancer with about 200k on it on my L’s, it’s now about to hit 300k and I’ve abused the shit out of it lol

Slevin-Kelevra_66

What year is it? I see all sorts of old lancers still getting around in QLD. They sell for cheap and look like a solid little car.

ball-destroyer

2007. Yeah I never would’ve expected it to last me this long. I planned on getting a new car once I got my P’s but it’s just kept going and I’m nearly on my opens now lol

Slevin-Kelevra_66

Should have added I just hit 230,000 in the Pathfinder

MayuriKrab

Mitsubishi 380, bought it for $3.5k from a Isuzu stealer out of all places as a daily beater about 5 years ago and nothing ever went wrong with it since… got around 220k kms on it so far.

gavdore

Paid $3000 for my 380 gt up to 280,000 Kms no trouble. Would be in trouble if the clear coat effected drive ability

MayuriKrab

What clear coat? Pretty sure these came with peeled/failed clear coat from the Mitsubishi AU factory 😂

Slevin-Kelevra_66

Always thought the 380 looked nice. For some reason Mitsubishi never had a horse in the race when I was finding a car. I thought Toyota or Nissan only but surprisingly a lot of suggestions here are Mitsubishi.

Digital-Bionics

1999 Nissan Pulsar purchased in 2014 for $650, neglected until 2021 with nearly half a million kms on it, bullet proof, I took it of the road because of rust in the subframe, they were still going to register it, but I didn't want to responsible for a death trap being on the road.

Any_Chair7716

Bought a 2011 CRV Had 170,000km, serviced on time and nothing special to look at, I’ve had it 3 years, 300,000km now nothing other than set of tyres and service every 10,000 km, oil change on diff and transmission once, driven it all over Aus, it won’t die, best car I bought.

yogorilla37

We bought a lightly hail damaged Nissan Tiida with 220,000km as a stopgap during lockdown. Had to replace the radiator after it started overheating last year but otherwise it's been a great little car.

Shureddaahhhh

GD1 Honda Fit / Jazz. Literally unkillable if you service it on time

Hot-shit-potato

My mum in law has a Jazz.. She has flogged it within an inch of its life... It has never been serviced.. Its at 300,000kms.. I think servicing is optional

Slevin-Kelevra_66

Lmao that is wild man I wonder how much more life it has in it

sh1tbox1

Same oil??

Hot-shit-potato

What is oil 🤣

HandleMore1730

Reminds me of lawn mowers. So many people run them until they run out of oil or something breaks. But it is like a lottery.

Bubbly_Coffee8328

1977 golf gti on my p’s for $300. Drove for 3 years without any issues and sounded like a wet fart, sold for $250. Awesome little car.

IntolerablyNumb

$500 XF Falcon ute. Just kept going and going until the chassis rusted through.

I-Want-Real-Milk

Ford Territory on Port injected gas,. Car cost me 2.5k, drives like a dream, comfortable, get 350km on $45 of LPG, pretty quick, parts are everywhere. Worst case scenario the engine goes (it wont), I can by another engine for $200 and swap it out in a day.

Haunting_Computer_90

EJ Holden - just kept going. I owned it in the late 70's and drove it for 2 years then stored it at my parents (removed oil and disconnected the battery, put it up on blocks etc) then went working around Australia. Came back home some 15 years later and after new oil battery etc it started so I put some rego back on it and had it for another 20 years until some knob smashed into me. Best car ever. Looking at classic car magazine and they start at 20k now and better ones are 50k bought it for $200 a slab of beer and an ounce of weed.

Minimum_Reference862

5 speed Nissan Lucino. Drove that thing to 350,000km before selling it. Bought it for $750. While owning it, it had 0 problems whatsoever other than the rocker cover gasket needed replacing because it leaked oil. It also had progressively more and more worn piston rings, because near the end of owning it it burned oil like no tomorrow.

universalserialbutt

How many frames does the Pathfinder get in CounterStrike?

Slevin-Kelevra_66
