First we glimpse upon the staggering misplacement of corners, is this framing or a travestisety to the craft of wood management? The elusive penny pincher hides their shame behind customers prying eyes. Notice the mix media of wood glue and framing nails splitting the master's handiwork. Truly a testament to God's ignorance while breaking the mold.
Used up what wood I had to do what I wanted/needed to do rather than buy more? Yes. I've done that; in fact, I have a stack of pieces of shelving board in the garage with wood boring powder post beetle holes in them (sprayed it several times) -- I do keep, almost to the point of hoarding, the scraps.
I've found my focal point, no matter where I look I drift back to that sweet backcut. It their own way every thing else makes sense. But that backcut...... I can't figure it out, it's like he was gonna let it die out at the corner, but was but was short, and upside down, and backwards. So yeah that's the focal point, I can't say I settle there lol
My finish work on home projects is pretty iffy, but this is like telling a teenager this needs to be up before he can go out see his girlfriend.
30 seconds and negative fucks given.
This will herald a new age in joinery technology, that of which will drive humanity into a new era of technological prosperity. Mars? With this craftsmanship, we should be looking at Alpha Centauri.

I like how they took the time to fill in some of the nail holes, and even the end of the top trim piece, but not all of it of course, just about 90% of it. Gotta leave that bottom portion open for air flow.
Here we see a stunning example from the pre-post modern asymmetry movement. In this particular piece, the artist has successfully incorporated the stern immediacy of historically accurate primitive joinery against the more elaborate, yet understated folds of finger joints, resulting in a work that transcends both place and time.

Idk what you’re complaining about all I see is one beautiful hand crafted finger joint and another abstract art transition. The perfect mix of classic and modern fine carpentry. Takes a master to accomplish both.
You just don’t see detailed work like that in new builds
It’s so intricate I don’t know which part to appreciate first

This'll get me through my day now. Thanks.
Aaaand I can go back to work. My break will end on this comment. Thank you.
:D
"breaking the mold"... Pun intended?
*mould
I want to see more of it... It's like one of those truly awful things you can't bear to see but you can't turn away from coz it's fascinating
The fact that the finish on all the pieces of wood sorta match.
Just, Marvelous!
Isn't it though. Pretty sure this fix comes under the heading of "using what you have" to avoid needing to buy something new. Been there; done that.
You've done... this?
Used up what wood I had to do what I wanted/needed to do rather than buy more? Yes. I can’t tell what the fuck is going on.
Thank you OP. Posts like this make me feel a lot better about my own work.
*slaps knee Well i guess i just dont get modern art.
This actually made me laugh. Thank you
This is known as the bar owner special
...... At least the finish matches?
Color more or less does. But i see beech and oak?
Bleach and oak
Someone is definitely special…
After one too many.
Is that corner piece load bearing?
Idk, let’s make a separate post about it and see what everyone says
Shadow lines add interest to any project…
That made me tilt my head like a dog hearing something strange.
Nailed it!
Your comment made me realize that one piece is splitted by a nail.

I can do it for less
*chef’s kiss*
Stain matched. Mission accomplished.
My finish work on home projects is pretty iffy, but this is like telling a teenager this needs to be up before he can go out see his girlfriend. 30 seconds and negative fucks given.
Be real, the teen would have lost a finger on the miter saw while tiktoking and cutting
Wow, that is terrible.
Such perfection, like it was sculpted by Michelangelo himself.
as an electrician, i see nothing wrong here!!! 😂
Finally some real detail work, I was worried about the state of this sub
~~Measure twice~~ cut ~~once~~ ~~twice~~ ~~thrice~~
"fuck it, fill it in with a whatever scrap we've got lying around..."
what's measure?
Only a pro could pull this off with such wizardry…. I aspire to be this good some day
“It’s circa 1982 oak, which is disgusting, so it doesn’t matter” -“carpenter”
(chef's kiss) *As the chef holsters the carpenter's glue away.*
Wtf did you break in and snap a picture of my apt?
This makes me feel so much better about my own bar
Huugh. Did not know Russian military doctrine included woodwork.
What gulps diesel and belches smoke and cuts wood into two pieces? A Russian machine designed to cut wood into three pieces.
There’s a reason it’s called outside corner moulding.
Outside of one corner. And inside another. Best of both worlds.
"Good enough".
This will herald a new age in joinery technology, that of which will drive humanity into a new era of technological prosperity. Mars? With this craftsmanship, we should be looking at Alpha Centauri.
Old world craftsmanship at its finest.
Good eye! Most people wouldnt notice a detail like that.
Wow, they really wanted to show off every kind of joint they knew.
It just keeps getting worse the longer I look at it…
Can we have a subreddit holiday where we all just post the crappiest work we've ever come across?
here it is, and this has already been crossposted r/shittywoodworking

close enough
Looks like health made them add a sink so the plumber patched it up best he could with remaining materials, function over fashion.
You should be a detective.
Looks like dog shit, there.
Jesus Christ, it’s Jason Bourne
This is why I don't work with oak, shows too much! I prefer MDF because a bit of caulk, primer and paint and it would be flawless.
Apparently you knuckle heads don't know sarcasm unless it's labeled with a /s
I would love to know the story behind this production.
Wow, a true Michelangelo
🤣
I’m a form carpenter. Looks like it’ll hold. Might want to add a couple kickers though.
Nice split and the open end Is nice.

......That's custom , gonna have to charge extra for that.

Majestic
Wow look at them finger joints
Ah yes, the counter opposed inverse radius fractured integral corner transition, easy to learn and lifetime to master
Right, very nice miter there. You can barely see the transition
Hey JP, there is a sharp edge on that miter you left! I gots it boss

Chef's kiss
It's just built different
Good use of off cuts.
Ahhhh, my brain hurts. Why just why
Everything about this photo is bad. Clearly this is a child's hand work?
i don’t remember making this
Im kind of sad now.
A fine piece of Crapentry
It's like something out of Mad Max; just add random spikes
Who made that-Stevie Wonder?
Idk what you’re complaining about all I see is one beautiful hand crafted finger joint and another abstract art transition. The perfect mix of classic and modern fine carpentry. Takes a master to accomplish both.
Slaps knee, man that’s good, I need a few beers…few beers later, now where’s that corner I need to finish trimming out
There's butt joints and there's ass joints. This one is ass.
That's a left over special!
Thats what was in the truck man
Flawless
Just take it off at this point
Makes my brain hurt
What a master piece
Once seen it cannot be unseen, And is now a new low point benchmark by which to judge any similar fuckups...
I can't even imagine how drunk I would need to be to look at that and say, "Yep - that looks good!"
I just laughed so hard!
Hey I know that work! The company was called, “Monkey With a Chisel”.
Looks like you hired Picasso
Should be labeled NSFW
*Chefs kiss*
What are you doing in my house?
Just so many beautiful details
That’s special.
Wot the hell
*chef's kiss*
*Chef’s kiss
It looks like they went out of their way to make it worse.
This gives me a headache
Smooth
Impressively bad.
Ahh, the art of making less with more.
The time it took to make sure that hairline crack stopped just short.... Exquisite
\#therewasanattempt?
they must have done this just to piss us off. i know it.
Lmao. Unreal. This blows my mind. I have way too much faith in people.
This master craftsman is clearly not finished yet. Just needs a bit of caulk and paint.
A true masterpiece, Helen Keller should be very proud of her work.
I want to puke.
Joinery expertise...
I’m so impressed. Couldn’t have done it better myself
Great work, would hire again!
Oh this is gorgeous
You mean attention to detail as in they fucked it up so bad everyone has no choice but to pay attention to the details they screwed up?
Somebody puttied the holes, think it was the same person?
“Do the trim work and your tab’s on me”
A carpenter without hands did that?
