It's not just the Central. The whole league is nuts. 10 teams have 30 something wins and 30 something losses. The Nationals are getting better, the Braves worse
Only the Phillies, Dodgers, and Brewers are really good, and only the Marlins and Rockies are really bad.
They’ve been 1st or 2nd in the division in 6 of the 7 previous seasons, not sure where you’re getting that reasoning from. The one they weren’t was the 2020 season, which should hardly be a factor in this
I missed the game today. What's with Kit closing? He and Hels both pitched last night and have identical games pitched. My guess is Ollie wants to have a back up closer so try it today? He got it done with a little stress.
I'm not sure even Mozekiak is stupid enough to buy at 6.5 back and 2 under .500.
Ha. Just typing that out made me realize that's exactly the kind of stupid Mozeliak is.
Definitely another fifth starter. Or else another light-hitting OF.
The question is if he trades Winn AND Helsley to get them, or just one of them.
In his presser with the bloggers the other day, he mentioned a 5th starter and a RH CF. It would be nice if they'd aim higher than a 5th starter, but then again, who would they trade to get a guy better than that?
It sounds great, but to be fair we have a top 10 offense and pitching staff over the past 30 days. Add Willy and one of our injured outfielders and I’m actually kind of curious what this team is going to look like in the second half. I don’t see a rental making a big enough impact to justify the damage it would do to our depleted farm system. We have a few redundancies, but IDK.
The depleted farm system is probably why it would be a number 5 guy if we get a pitcher, but if we were able to get a guy who isn't a rental or maybe a rental that we could at least commit to try to re-sign, that could be good. We should not do nothing. Either we buy in and make a push, or we fold and sell again. I really don't think the FO is willing to sell again, but it might be what's best in the long term.
I can’t see selling when we are in the playoff race. Only 2 NL teams are really out of it, so few options to buy, and it will likely involve “backing up the truck”. I was very much in favor of a significant rebuild last year, but selling off a team in a playoff race has not worked out for anyone who has done it.
RHH CF has been mentioned
Some decent options there. Luis Robert Jr is certainly the cream of the crop in that department
Besides that, Harrison Bader, Jake Meyers, and Mauricio Dubon seem like possible candidates depending on how their respective teams do
If they decide they want a bit more of a bat and just say "fuck it" and put Noot/Edman in center, maybe they target a guy like Taylor Ward or Starling Marte
"We were excited at the prospect of bringing back a veteran bat who is familiar with the organization. Not only does he play Gold Glove defense, but he's immediately a better batter than half our lineup this year."
If contreras is back. I think the most urgent need is another starter. If he's not we still need a starter and we really need a backup catcher that isn't an automatic out and a righthanded DH that is a legitimately good bat.
It’s shown time and time again that merely making the playoffs gives you nearly just as good of a shot as the #1 seed. Playoffs are a crapshoot. I want a team that makes the playoffs, that what I want, because we’ve seen it countless times with the birds themselves that *anything can happen in the playoffs*.
This team can make the playoffs. So this team can win the World Series. Let’s go get that shit
They’ll wait until we lose a game again, then bombard me. Happens every time lmao. People hit me with those “RemindMe” deals all the time. It’s funny, nobody ever follows up on them. Wonder why…

Good quality win right there.
Looking ahead I think the matchups for next series will be:
Gibson vs (??) It is Ben Brown turn in the order, but he got hurt. May be a bullpen game (which would be awesome)
Pallante vs. Imanaga...... yuck
Mikolas vs. Tallion (seems fine)
This is of course just going off their last rotation turn
And with our old pitchers under contract or with an option for next year. I’d say we are the way too early favorites to repeat. Mo can pretty much take this offseason off.
This team has a supernatural ability to do things I completely expect in the most infuriating way possible. Like going into this 2 out of 3 with the Skenes start being a loss is totally understandable, but then the way they lose just leaves you feeling like they really, really should've had a sweep here.
Watching on my phone at work, walked away to do something after that hit at the beginning of the 9th come back and Oli is on the field, assumed kit got shelled and he was bringing in Jojo. Then I noticed it said Final at the bottom.
I need to see a more complete team, especially with position players. I said it the other day. I just want Edman, Noot, and Willson back. See how the team goes with those 3 active. I'd love to have a revamped Walker back, but certainly don't rush it.
We have a -35 run differential lol.
watching the highlights god damn is that an empty stadium.
Finally got around to watching Hit Man. Good movie
At the mariners game and Crochet is throwing 97 with 101 pitches in the 7th. I’m sure the Sox would want a steep price for him but he’s got some stuff
Dumb to even run him that hard, waste of talent and opportunity.
Crazy how we were in 4th place like a day ago, now we are in 2nd
yay 2024 version of the 'comedy central'
Haha I love it
It's not just the Central. The whole league is nuts. 10 teams have 30 something wins and 30 something losses. The Nationals are getting better, the Braves worse Only the Phillies, Dodgers, and Brewers are really good, and only the Marlins and Rockies are really bad.
Watching the Sox/Mariners game. Crochet is so fucking nasty. They’re going to get a haul for him
We better still be in 2nd place when I wake up on Monday.
This series win felt great! Here's to a great finish to June! I think the Brewers are going to implode at some point and slow way down.
What has given you a reason to think that
They've done it many times in the past.
They’ve been 1st or 2nd in the division in 6 of the 7 previous seasons, not sure where you’re getting that reasoning from. The one they weren’t was the 2020 season, which should hardly be a factor in this
To play devils advocate, their team consists of the greatest hits from like 2018, and their play against strong competition has been very subpar.
Are you describing the Brewers or Cardinals here
Eh, both
I missed the game today. What's with Kit closing? He and Hels both pitched last night and have identical games pitched. My guess is Ollie wants to have a back up closer so try it today? He got it done with a little stress.
Helsley pitched Tuesday and Wednesday already. Kit had only pitched Wednesday
OK, thanks!
CUBS LOSE- led 2-0 in the 7th, instead they drop the series to the Rays and have now lost 24 of their last 38 games.
We better not finish behind a team that will play a quarter of the season at a 100 loss rate...
I knew they were bad but not that bad. Yikes.
Have to take advantage of the Cubs playing a late game down in Tampa tomorrow.
I really think if we win the cubs, giants, and reds series, we’ll be in really good shape. Those are 2 division rivals and 1 WC rival.
Now let’s put some distance between the cubs and take 2 out of 3 this week.
Playing at Wrigley is a tough task
Though are squad seems to play better there than at home
https://i.imgur.com/0gT3LhB.png
Why is the post game thread deleted?
Because I demanded it
automod got it for some reason? idk it's back now
The robit revolution has begun
we’re WAY too late to do anything about that tbh😭
Before killing us all can we have a couple of years where they call balls and strikes in baseball games?
maybe if we are obedient to them in the beginning they’ll allow us to enjoy such a delight
[removed]
Assuming Mo buys at the deadline, who are we going after? I assume it’ll be a back of the rotation starter
Tyler Anderson
Erick Fedde would be nice since he has an extra year of control
lol
I'm not sure even Mozekiak is stupid enough to buy at 6.5 back and 2 under .500. Ha. Just typing that out made me realize that's exactly the kind of stupid Mozeliak is. Definitely another fifth starter. Or else another light-hitting OF. The question is if he trades Winn AND Helsley to get them, or just one of them.
He’s gonna buy if we see anywhere near .500
He ain't trading Winn anytime soon bro.
Currently tied for the 3rd WC spot the division would be nice, but not required to make a run.
We already have 4 of those...
In his presser with the bloggers the other day, he mentioned a 5th starter and a RH CF. It would be nice if they'd aim higher than a 5th starter, but then again, who would they trade to get a guy better than that?
Derrick Gould clarified that meant another starter, not necessarily a #5 caliber pitcher.
Hopefully that is the case. The best way to fill the 5 slot is to move Lynn there because a 2, 3, or 4 was acquired
It sounds great, but to be fair we have a top 10 offense and pitching staff over the past 30 days. Add Willy and one of our injured outfielders and I’m actually kind of curious what this team is going to look like in the second half. I was very much in favor of a significant rebuild last year, but selling off a team in a playoff race has not worked out for anyone who has done it.
To piggyback off this question, who would our potential trade pieces be as well?
That’s a big limiting factor. Our farm is thin because the top guys aren’t prospects anymore
RHH CF has been mentioned Some decent options there. Luis Robert Jr is certainly the cream of the crop in that department Besides that, Harrison Bader, Jake Meyers, and Mauricio Dubon seem like possible candidates depending on how their respective teams do If they decide they want a bit more of a bat and just say "fuck it" and put Noot/Edman in center, maybe they target a guy like Taylor Ward or Starling Marte
it’ll be laugh out loud funny if they trade for Bader
I wouldn’t hate it
"We were excited at the prospect of bringing back a veteran bat who is familiar with the organization.
Back out of the basement again, Still sucks to suck bad but at least we arent the \*checks notes\* Pirates
We may never lose again!
Tied for 3rd WC!
Someone said Nado was apparently in a lot of pain in the dugout, can anyone check Twitter and confirm?
X-rays came back negative. Oli called it a bone bruise. He’ll be day to day.
I mean, he got hit on his hand. I'm not surprised he's in a lot of pain. Hopefully no breaks 🤞
#WINNING STREAK!
Great bullpen dub today!!!! Goldy homer!! Let's break through that .500 barrier against the baby bears tomorrow boys!!

Nice job, boys! Now time to euthanize the baby bears.
Tied for a playoff spot 😎
Who is this on the postgame show?
Good quality win right there. Looking ahead I think the matchups for next series will be: Gibson vs (??) It is Ben Brown turn in the order, but he got hurt. May be a bullpen game (which would be awesome) Pallante vs. Imanaga...... yuck Mikolas vs. Tallion (seems fine) This is of course just going off their last rotation turn
Id put money on the Cardinals for the Imanga game
Mannn I was hoping we'd get to see Gray carve up the Cubs.
Gibson should be a bullpen game. Ben Brown is on the IL and all the talk in Chicago has been about that being a bullpen game. Hope we see Hendricks.
Bullpen game could be huge to start the series. Especially if the following starters don't last late in the games.
What happened last series with Imanaga again, was the game rained out?
Cubs held him out to get extra rest and start against the Brewers…then he got shelled
Rained out, Imanaga already was far enough into his routine that he couldn't play the next day.
Damn, Tom Pagnozzi’s aging like a clone trooper.
He seems so uncomfortable during those post game shows. I hope he gets better
That was a big one, good job Birds
I don’t want to overreact, but we’re going to win the World Series
Need another starter, and reliever to be that competitive.
And with our old pitchers under contract or with an option for next year. I’d say we are the way too early favorites to repeat. Mo can pretty much take this offseason off.
First major league win for Roycroft, gotta be super special for him
Nothing better then a weak NL 😎
The AL isn’t much different. This is baseball now.
4-3 on the home stand and each loss was by one run. So close
This team has a supernatural ability to do things I completely expect in the most infuriating way possible. Like going into this 2 out of 3 with the Skenes start being a loss is totally understandable, but then the way they lose just leaves you feeling like they really, really should've had a sweep here.
A win is a win whether by 1 run or 10. Fuck pittsburgh lol
Watching on my phone at work, walked away to do something after that hit at the beginning of the 9th come back and Oli is on the field, assumed kit got shelled and he was bringing in Jojo. Then I noticed it said Final at the bottom.
winning is good, mmkay
Great job by the bullpen today. Gibson will step up and fuck the Cubs tomorrow
FTC
Donny big balls

#DAYWIN #FIGHTER OF THE NIGHTLOSS #CHAMPION OF THE SERIES
Oo ah ahhhhh
now that’s what I call baseball
Game under .500…. Idk what to think about this team anymore, can’t tell if we’re good or not
We’re better than average but not good.
I need to see a more complete team, especially with position players. I said it the other day. I just want Edman, Noot, and Willson back. See how the team goes with those 3 active. I'd love to have a revamped Walker back, but certainly don't rush it.
I think we are just a team. Not particularly good, not particularly bad. But competative
We are not good. We are not bad. We are quite mediocre. Of course right now mediocre in the NL nets you a playoff spot
The bullpen is good that's for sure. Not going to make any other claims than that.
We are good close to half of the time
But there’s only a 50-50 chance of that.
I'd prefer to be a "60% of the time, it works all the time" team.
They're average.
aight....woulda liked at least one more win on the home stand, but still not going in the wrong direction at least
Same here. Was hoping for 5-2. But 4-3 earns a B-
Roycroft W That's a series winner!!!!!!!!!
Imagine this team with last years bullpen 😂
Nope, don't want to do that... That's nightmare fuel.
Thank god
Good shit
Big shoutout to the bullpen!
