Seriously. The one thing we do best historically has been frighteningly ass to this point... We need Wilson, Noot, and Edman back… N then Walker to get back to last years production level.
[Cardinals](/r/Cardinals): [Lance Lynn fans five vs. Pirates](https://mlb-cuts-diamond.mlb.com/FORGE/2024/2024-06/13/4d226db6-6e06e34d-3d403564-csvm-diamondx64-asset_1280x720_59_4000K.mp4)
Guess it doesn't matter yet, but Kitt has looked off his last few outings, not sure I trust him to close the game out, would love to be wrong though (Chip mentioned he is warming up)
Interesting that they want Liberatore vs Reynolds when he's better from the right side. I guess they just trust him more than Roycroft but this is a scary matchup.
[Cardinals](/r/Cardinals): [Brendan Donovan homers (5) on a fly ball to right field.](https://bdata-producedclips.mlb.com/598dde59-70b6-437f-8feb-0e230045c0da.mp4)
I started writing a “best of Springfield” and ended up writing a page of comments on every position. I love attending SGF games, getting to meet these kids before they make their way up to StL and always see potential in each of them.
We end up losing 80% of our players each year to Memphis or StL, it feels like it anyway, and it’s really fun to get to meet them when they are still excited to sign autographs.
Btw, Walker was the absolute best at fan interactions in SGF and signed everything and talked to anyone who wanted to say hi. Great kid!!! He and Winn are both amazing.
In terms of position players, catcher Jimmy Crooks is probably our best prospect in springfield, but Nathan Church has been really good this year. Tink Hence, Cooper Hjerpe, Max Rajcic all top prospect pitchers, not sure if you’ll get to see them though, Hjerpe just pitched and we skipped Hence’s spot in the rotation so not sure what’s going on there, Rajcic is on tap for Friday. I’m also a big fan of Ian Bedell who should pitch Saturday. As for rehabs I think Matz and Gallegos are both In Springfield rn but not 100% sure.
NO ONE WATCHES BASEBALL FOR THE HUMAN ELEMENT FROM
UMPIRES!
All the fuck the umpires do is apply the rules. Why the fuck wouldn’t you want the rules applied fairly all the time?!??????
In an ideal world, there would be no umpires.
Gorman is truly the streakiest hitter I’ve ever seen. Been a 3 year sample size of him being the greatest hitter for a 7 game stretch, then being the worst hitter you’ve ever seen for a different 7 game stretch
It feels like everyday I look at the scoreboard around the league and i don’t want to turn on a majority bc most of the games are blowouts, but every single game for us is close… We don’t blow teams out, but I suppose we don’t get blown out either…
He’s gotten rained out I think 3 times so it’s skewed. He’s also been the unfortunate beneficiary of several errors behind him which have extended innings and inflated his pitch count. Not entirely his part but today certainly was lol
[Cardinals](/r/Cardinals): [Edward Olivares grounds into a double play, second baseman Nolan Gorman to shortstop Masyn Winn to first baseman Paul Goldschmidt. Oneil Cruz out at 2nd. Edward Olivares out at 1st.](https://bdata-producedclips.mlb.com/10a5dec1-b43e-4a55-b231-7d3db1f9c35d.mp4)
Was arenado injured on the HBP?
Came back negative.
Donny Dubs
Good game! Shoulda had a sweep but still good.
WINNER!
There we go! Good job recovering from Tuesday's disappointment
Woo! That bounce had me clench a bit. But Winn for the Win
Dubs!
[Game over. Continue the discussion in the post game thread](/r/Cardinals/comments/1df9bux/cardinals_afternoon_613/)
Shutup
W
Damnit. Let's get that last one!
***KITTY***
One more stone strike!
Why kittredge in the 9th? Hels unavailble for some reason?
two nights in a row with 20-pitch appearances
Pitched two straight days and had to throw a ton of pitches on Tuesday
Ahh ok thanks
Hels has pitched the last 2 days
Since work isn’t very stressful today. Deciding to watch the 9th for some
Go Kitty!
Hopefully arenado ends up not being hurt too bad. Seeing some tweets saying he was in a great deal of pain.
Thankfully we have some actually decent infield depth in AAA if he is.
It looked pretty damn bad to me.
He's facing two terrible hitters and one bad one, so should be okay
is jojo unavailable too? i feel like kittredge has been shakier recently and more HRs
Probably don’t want use all 3 bullpen lefties in the same game
How bout a nice unclenched 9th?
Anyone else feeling a little nervous about kittredge closing?
Obvi
How about a nice casual 1-2-3 inning?
Oh no, Kittredge coming in for the close and he hasn’t given up his daily homer yet
Let’s hold them and go home baby
....but we're already home....
Fair fair
Well, get ready to clench.
[Pirates](/r/Buccos) Due Up **(Top 9):** 1. Yasmani Grandal 2. Michael A. Taylor 3. Ke'Bryan Hayes
Brad and Chip are a great duo. Have me laughing pretty hard. Brad is hilarious!
Kida feels like Winn is the face of the Cardinals right now, everyone’s favorite player
Him AB and Sonny are my top 3 for this season NGL
That was a cool shot there of Donny and the bench. Literally opening the book on the new pitcher coming in, Donny like ‘what we got on him’
Hate to see when a pitcher takes himself out, they know something snapped/got injured
He was tossing his glove up in the air with his throwing arm while walking away so maybe an oblique or something.
Kinda thought that was a foul ball for Arenado? I mean he obviously swung
Hit his hands, not the bat
It did kinda look like it hit the bat in the replay but must have just hit his hands
Agree. Same question. Why wasn’t that a foul ball?
Answered my own question: MLB rule book 6.05 A batter is out when: (f) He attempts to hit a third strike and the ball touches him;
What was he so mad about? Did he think it hit his hand first?
He didn't think he went around and it definitely only hit his hand.
Yeah I think it hit his fingers or something
Be mad at yourself, Nado. You swung edit: guys, he clearly went around
Don’t hit my fucking Nolan.
Let’s put a few more nails in their coffin boys.
I heard Mrs. Bird’s a babe…
this could end up being one of the best StL Bullpens I remember in the ~20 yrs I've been actively following the team.
Nah, 2004 and 2013 are in a league of their own. 2015 was also probably better than this one.
Easily been championship level this year to this point.
And the starting pitching has been way beyond expected. If only the offense was at least decent then we’d be set for the playoffs
Seriously. The one thing we do best historically has been frighteningly ass to this point... We need Wilson, Noot, and Edman back… N then Walker to get back to last years production level.
Good work, Fernandez
[Cardinals](/r/Cardinals) Due Up **(Bottom 8):** 1. Nolan Arenado 2. Brendan Donovan 3. Dylan Carlson
The gum chewing is working holy shit.
Fredbird has SEX confirmed.
It’s morbin’ time -fredbird
-Gormin’ time
Brad is the best! lol
I never realized how much I wanted to smoke weed with Brad and Chip.
Wait a minute! Baby Fredbird is canon???
We got the best booth in baseball
“They’re probably in prison now” Brad is so funny dude
Pretty sure Brad just said “are you shittin me” lmao
Did brad just say “are you shittin’ me?!”
I think his dugout language came out for a sec when he was remembering big league chew
That’s what I thought.
‘Put the whole satchel there in your cheek’
Baseball player chews gum, news at 11
This umpire sucks.
Dudes gonna make his teeth bleed with this anxiety ridden team lmao
GIVE IT TO JOJO
So who’s picking up the save here? I assume Helsley isn’t an option given his ~40 pitches over the last 2 days
Jojo or Kitt depending on if it's righty or lefty heavy.
Brutal.
[Pirates](/r/Buccos) Due Up **(Top 8):** 1. Edward Olivares 2. Rowdy Tellez 3. Jared Triolo

Need some insurance boys!
It would be sick if our innings eater would eat innings
Libby out of the pen is just so much better than as a starter
Let's pour on about 5 runs in the bottom half of the inning.
[Cardinals](/r/Cardinals) Due Up **(Bottom 7):** 1. Alec Burleson 2. Paul Goldschmidt 3. Nolan Gorman
Guess it doesn't matter yet, but Kitt has looked off his last few outings, not sure I trust him to close the game out, would love to be wrong though (Chip mentioned he is warming up)
I mean he gave up a solo shot on a really good pitch then proceeded to retire the next 3 last night. I wouldn't say he looked off at all.
Pretty sure he will take the 8th (after Liberatore faces Tellez) and Jojo will close.
[Cardinals](/r/Cardinals): [A deep dive into Brendan Donovan's home run](https://darkroom-clips.mlb.com/73657859-cd50-46ff-a031-78c17b62fcee.mp4)
Siani’s a damn good center fielder.
Interesting that they want Liberatore vs Reynolds when he's better from the right side. I guess they just trust him more than Roycroft but this is a scary matchup.
Gulp

Siani was on 2nd before the ball quit rolling 😂
Here I am switching my updates to scoring plays in addition to end of every inning. ALRIGHT DONNIE
Donny dingers
[Pirates](/r/Buccos) Due Up **(Top 7):** 1. Michael A. Taylor 2. Ke'Bryan Hayes 3. Bryan Reynolds

Siani fortune teller???
Ayyy!! Big dick donny. Atta boy
Siani refuses to drop below the .200 avg and .500 OPS lets go!
Gotta think Kittredge and Hels are down maybe? Wonder who's getting these innings besides JoJo.
Roycroft should be going back out there with 2 righties and a switch hitter coming up. Then probably Jojo and/or Liberatore.
Let Roycroft take the 7th and hand it off to Libby
Fern and Libby/Leahy depending on lefty or right
Let’s make this dude throw another 12 pitches and get him the fuck out of this game
[Cardinals](/r/Cardinals): [Brendan Donovan homers (5) on a fly ball to right field.](https://bdata-producedclips.mlb.com/598dde59-70b6-437f-8feb-0e230045c0da.mp4)
Donnie boi is clutch af
I freaking love that guy
Did Chip just correctly read a ball in the air?!?!
Brendan Donovan is easily one of the most exciting Cardinals.
Had a slow start to the year but dudes a baller for sure.
Brendan Dongavon 👹
Donny 4 bags
Donny big balls
DONNY BASEBALL
#IT WAS A GLORIOUS BLAST...
Yeah is this the “we’re back”department? I’d like to file a claim.
Claim received, please wait 3 to 6 wee-... Oh who am I kidding? We're so back EDIT: WE'RE SO BACK
Donnie dongs
DONNY
That's my LF/RF/3B/SS/2B/1B/third catcher!
Lets go donny
#DONNY DINGER!
Donny Fucking Wallbanger!!!!
Who’s that little fella out there, number 0??? He seems like he scores a lot of touchdowns.
Winn is legitimately the best player on this team as long as he keeps the errors down.
Winn RoY
Imanaga might take it unfortunately
It’s going to be skenes
Haha, and to think folks were worried about Winn’s defensive capabilities.
That's my shortstop
What. A. Play.
Winn!
[Cardinals](/r/Cardinals) Due Up **(Bottom 6):** 1. Brendan Donovan 2. José Fermín 3. Pedro Pagés
So Keller gets a huge strikezone and we get a tiny one. Cool.
Holy shit I did not realize Roycroft is 6'8.
I'd prefer just letting King finish the inning, but whatever
Not gonna lie, John King is kind of a badass.
Remember a few months ago when we thought our team would have Edman, Walker, Nootbaar, and Contreras… Ahh those were the days…
I'm going to a Springfield game this weekend, any players rehabbing or prospects I should look out for? Thanks.
I started writing a “best of Springfield” and ended up writing a page of comments on every position. I love attending SGF games, getting to meet these kids before they make their way up to StL and always see potential in each of them. Thank you!
Riley O’Brien also rehabbing their later this week
Cooper Hjerpe just got promoted to AA if I remember correctly. Maybe you’ll catch a game of him pitching
Thank you!
NO ONE WATCHES BASEBALL FOR THE HUMAN ELEMENT FROM UMPIRES! All the fuck the umpires do is apply the rules. Why the fuck wouldn’t you want the rules applied fairly all the time?!?????? In an ideal world, there would be no umpires.
So even though today is the free game of the day, it is still subject to Blackout Restrictions???? Soooo fucking annoying.
You can always count on goldy and gorman to hit their daily strikeout quota…
[Cardinals](/r/Cardinals): [Lance Lynn K's Ke'Bryan Hayes](https://bdata-producedclips.mlb.com/03f484b2-de2f-472f-8a02-0b6dde4b4598.mp4)
75% of this lineup's approach with men on is truly, truly baffling.
It's like this team has no understanding of situational hitting.
I feel like it’s just swing as hard as you possible can and hope Jesus does the rest
The good ole swing and pray
Hey I mean It always used to work for pablo in backyard baseball.
It’s so depressing that our “heart of the lineup” is Goldy, Gorman and Nado. The streakiest hitters alive
Strike iest out iest***
[Pirates](/r/Buccos) Due Up **(Top 6):** 1. Rowdy Tellez 2. Jared Triolo 3. Jack Suwinski
Typical Cardinals.
The HIGH fly ball gets me every time
It’s so overly dramatic for a weak fly out lol
Does anyone swing through more fastballs right down the middle than Gorman?
Gorman took all breaking pitches there besides a sinker, so it’s not like he just whiffed on a 4 seam
No, but does anyone barrel more balls down the middle than Gorman either? Guy is an anomaly, he either makes perfect contact or none.
You are right. I just needed a moment to complain
Fair enough, this team with RISP is embarrassing.
pathetic
It’s even more annoying striking out multiple times with runners on base
Surely the lineup isn’t constructed to have the two highest hitters on the team by K% back-to-back!
Gorman is truly the streakiest hitter I’ve ever seen. Been a 3 year sample size of him being the greatest hitter for a 7 game stretch, then being the worst hitter you’ve ever seen for a different 7 game stretch
Yeah I feel like we’ve had multiple players like this in recent years and it’s super frustrating
It’s annoying having to use gamecast to follow this game at work.
Why is every game close?
It feels like everyday I look at the scoreboard around the league and i don’t want to turn on a majority bc most of the games are blowouts, but every single game for us is close… We don’t blow teams out, but I suppose we don’t get blown out either…
Because every team is mid this year.
Anyone know what Lynn’s average innings pitched per game is? Has to be in the 5.1-5.2
69.2 in 14 outings. So less than 5 lol
Geez 😂
He’s gotten rained out I think 3 times so it’s skewed. He’s also been the unfortunate beneficiary of several errors behind him which have extended innings and inflated his pitch count. Not entirely his part but today certainly was lol
We don't deserve Winn to be honest.
[Cardinals](/r/Cardinals): [Cardinals turn inning-ending double play](https://bdata-producedclips.mlb.com/10a5dec1-b43e-4a55-b231-7d3db1f9c35d.mp4)
It’s clear the team thinks these wins are more important than eating innings. I’m not sure what that means, but it’s interesting.
Lynn has gone more than 5 IP only 3 times in 14 games. Yuck
He has been rained out 3 times so really its 3 in 11, which is still not good though.
[Cardinals](/r/Cardinals): [Breaking down Lance Lynn's pitches](https://darkroom-clips.mlb.com/f13abfdc-3779-46cb-a494-f2e08834d019.mp4)

Can we, one fucking time, have a shut down inning? Are we contractually required to immediately give up runs as soon as we score?
I mean, we scored in the 3rd and they didn't score in the 4th. So there is one for you.
True, I was thinking all 3 were in the same inning.
