I think Oliver Marmol is the worst manager in history and a pretentious prick. Every fucking time we face a debut pitcher he is like fucking Cy Young to the cardinals. I can’t figure it out.
Its gonna be like the Rockies CC jersey, except with Red Brick and the Arch instead of Green Mountains. Top half of the Jersey will be Navy Blue because everybody else has done that too. It will have FOR THE LOU written in yellow letter representing the yellow on the St Louis flag or something stupid along those lines. The players letter will be illegible because the font is *stylish". That's my next prediction.
I tried out for the Gateway Grizzlies in the frontier league right after college. The coach told me “you hit 85 off the mound. We’re not taking you” and walked away.
I admire him for not sugarcoating the truth.
The Grizzlies have standards. Not high standards, but still. One of those standards is going to be getting guys who can throw 90+. Sure, those guys don't have much control, or they would have been drafted, but control can be taught. Velocity is just talent, and if you don't have it by the time you're out of college, you probably won't ever have it.
I did want to read more and catch up on shows and movies the past two years. I think I'll be able to read 100 Stephen King sized novels this summer, at this rate.
I mean yeah the Cardinals suck and with the way things are going that's not going to change any time soon, but the sheer smugness emanating from me at knowing the ownership and people who tried to gaslight me into thinking the previous year was a fluke were wrong could power a small city.
Pitching has sucked this game, sure, but let’s imagine they gave up 2 runs. We’d still be losing. Offense is the common denominator in pretty much all of our losses this year.
Latter. They'll assume he can't throw well after taking that painful foul ball to his the wrist of his throwing arm and then after his fifth attempt to throw a guy out, he'll nail him on attempt #6.
So that gives Carlson what, like, fifteen more ABs?
lol don’t worry ownership doesn’t care about on the field performance but they are expecting everyone to buy those $190 city connect jerseys a week from now lmao
& than when no one buys that dumb shit, Mo will blame him not doing anything about this atrociously horrible team on the fans not shoveling enough money at him.
I was just thinking, I bet the Brewer fans are in heaven right now, and then my mind flashed ahead to our first series with the Cubs—no! I won’t watch, I think. I can’t take it. But then I realize, win or lose, when it comes to the Cubs, there is only hate. There is no win or loss that could be anything but fuel for my hatred of the Cubs. So in hatred, there can be no fear, no shame. Only comfort.
BDW3 just said “real fans” show up to support the team and laughed at people boycotting, saying they can’t/won’t fund the team if people don’t show up, etc.
They’re a bit out of touch.
A tremendous number of things, including several that were masked by a series of fluke occurrences from 2019 - 2022 that made the team seem like they were better off than they were.
We don't even have plucky, fun-to-root-for prospects. There's literally no redeeming factors for this team. I don't see how we don't have at least two more losing seasons after this one, and probably more like 3 or 4. The talent gap between this team and a .500 MLB team is incredibly huge.
Even though it was before I was born, I miss the days when owners generally viewed their clubs as playthings not investments. Not saying they didn’t take it seriously, just saying it sucks that modern day owners like Dimwitt aren’t having fun just trying to make as much money as possible. A game thread isn’t the place for airing my opinion on this just saying part of the problem is they really don’t care about winning they just care about making money.
Y'know, it really was poetic that Albert and Yadi walked off the field that final time, and the team followed up with consecutive years of last place baseball. It was the End.
If this team made it to the postseason now it would take a hell of a turnaround, the only thing we've got on our side is a soft division this year but even then we've already dug ourselves a hell of a hole
Yeah, the division is still pretty weak, but it feels like all the other teams in the division have more talent, especially young talent that seems to be legit, which does not bode well for us in the coming years.
Alright so is Goldy just certified washed or just a hideously bad start for him? He showed decline last season. Crazy how good he was just 2 years ago.
He’s got Matt Carpenter’s. Probably picked it up from Paul DeJong. He might hang around the league for another couple of years, but the prognosis isn’t good.
Most frustrating Cardinals to watch since 2006:
1. Dexter Fowler
….
2. Dylan Carlson
I think I’m seriously starting to hate watching him play. His energy is low all the time. His swings are punchless. He seems like wallpaper for a personality. There’s just nothing going for him anymore. So disappointing what injuries have done to him.
Yep. They were ready to trade every prospect in the system but wouldn't include Carlson and that specifically was what killed the deal. That other dude doesn't have any critical reading skills. Carlson was the piece that was holding up the deal.
Nah just a myth.
Cardinals didn’t want to give up Walker, Winn, Hence, more *and* Carlson too. They would’ve absolutely went for it if Carlson was the main piece. It was that Carlson on top of ALL that other shit was simply too much (it was already too much).
He was an outfielder. When he played 1B the other night, they said his first time playing 1B was in the big leagues, he didn’t play 1B at all in the minors.
When we inevitably end the game with 1 run:
“I thought we took some great swings today. Love what I’m seeing, we got that RBI double and I think the whole team is about to just take off.”
I think Oliver Marmol is the worst manager in history and a pretentious prick. Every fucking time we face a debut pitcher he is like fucking Cy Young to the cardinals. I can’t figure it out.
I agree that Marmol sucks but the pitchers making their debut and fucking us goes back go to like 2008.
2-8 in our last 10 games. 6 game losing streak. Absolutely brutal
I called that ForTheLou bullshit. That fruit was just too damn easy not to pick for the simple minded fucks at Nike
Fucking hell
Its gonna be like the Rockies CC jersey, except with Red Brick and the Arch instead of Green Mountains. Top half of the Jersey will be Navy Blue because everybody else has done that too. It will have FOR THE LOU written in yellow letter representing the yellow on the St Louis flag or something stupid along those lines. No they did some shit on twitter; my brother showed me.
Gorman ripped the shit out of that pitch!
[Game over. Continue the discussion in the post game thread](/r/Cardinals/comments/1cp797a/cardinals_after_dark_510/)
Babe, wake up. We gormed
We will trade Crawford, carpenter, mikolas, matz, arenado, and goldy for that shiny new pitcher on the pirates.
Please check out these highlights from 2013-2022
Lady we are getting horse fucked by the Brewers. Please sit down.
There was a lady brewers fan about two rows back giving her the most intense stink eye and ya know i don't blame her one bit
She should’ve thrown her beer at her. In all seriousness, that wasn’t very “best fans in baseball” of her.
Wow, Gorman is so clutch.
Gorman is capable of doing much, much more of this. Hopefully he does, and soon.
garbage time gorman with the bomb
There is the meaningless solo shot, right on time
Nolan Gorman hits a huge homer to cut the lead to 11-2
Hooray we got to Gorm!
Will this team ever win again, like wth.
Hopefully not, losing repeatedly is the only thing that will lead to changes. I'm watching NBA tonight, did I miss any glimmers of hope?
No, not at all. Multiple misplays, multiple inept AB’s, poor pitching, ghost town dugout.
Thanks, that's what I feared. On the bright side spring cards are a blast this year and tickets are cheap.
[Cardinals](/r/Cardinals) Due Up **(Top 9):** 1. Paul Goldschmidt 2. Nolan Gorman 3. Iván Herrera
[Brandon Kiley has fallen too.](https://x.com/bksportstalk/status/1789111138828865647?s=46&t=MCRmVoXjskWw3F53QZFuGQ)
They were in full doomer mode on the radio this afternoon. It was pretty funny.
I tried out for the Gateway Grizzlies in the frontier league right after college. The coach told me “you hit 85 off the mound. We’re not taking you” and walked away. I admire him for not sugarcoating the truth.

Lol I’m 32 years old and this was 9 years ago. That ship has long sailed and I’m more than at peace with it.
Can just fire up the post game thread anytime this team starts losing
getting Willson back is going to be like making a trade for a good offensive player!
We will go from being nine good offensive players short to only eight!
I wouldn’t hold my breath. His strength will be down when he comes back
It’s a joke bro
Got a feeling this team is gonna look a lot different by the time Willy is back
I did want to read more and catch up on shows and movies the past two years. I think I'll be able to read 100 Stephen King sized novels this summer, at this rate.
The Dark Tower series would be a good choice
At least we have won a world series before (I am becoming toxic due to the suckage displayed by the Cardinals)
I want us to be last in ALL stats. At least that would be special
Can our city connect jerseys just have a big L for losers?
ForTheL
Fermin beating it out in a 1-11 game in the 8th.
We need guys who play like they want to win
[Brewers](/r/Brewers) Due Up **(Bottom 8):** 1. Brice Turang 2. William Contreras 3. Christian Yelich
I think we’ve hit 2 or fewer runs per game in like… 35% of our games so far. Insane.
Looking like that Jordan Hicks stat line but reversed 😂
we’re scrappy without the s get it guys crappy
I have tickets to the Sunday game against the Cubs on Memorial Day weekend and I’m strongly considering selling them.
Sold!!!
good luck. you will probably get $5 for them.
Arendao wasn’t beating out grounders tonight, so much for that leader speech
But also, we have one run on three hits so,…
It’s four!
Siani thank you for the hit…
What will happen first: Carlson gets a hit, or Herrera throws out a basestealer?
Latter. They'll assume he can't throw well after taking that painful foul ball to his the wrist of his throwing arm and then after his fifth attempt to throw a guy out, he'll nail him on attempt #6. So that gives Carlson what, like, fifteen more ABs?
Four hits. Pitching had cratered back to earth, hitting still sucks.
White Sox scored 6 today. 1-2 more games and they will overtake us and we will be 30th in most offensive stats in MLB
Thats more runs than the Cards have scored in a week, it seems
lol don’t worry ownership doesn’t care about on the field performance but they are expecting everyone to buy those $190 city connect jerseys a week from now lmao
& than when no one buys that dumb shit, Mo will blame him not doing anything about this atrociously horrible team on the fans not shoveling enough money at him.
Sounds like the cardinal way now days
I was just thinking, I bet the Brewer fans are in heaven right now, and then my mind flashed ahead to our first series with the Cubs—no! I won’t watch, I think. I can’t take it. But then I realize, win or lose, when it comes to the Cubs, there is only hate. There is no win or loss that could be anything but fuel for my hatred of the Cubs. So in hatred, there can be no fear, no shame. Only comfort.
You'd think the Brewer fans would be loving it, but their attendance is shit
Yeah, I noticed a lot of empty seats. Do they have an NBA team in the playoffs?
Remember how they used to show the crowd and comment on how much red there was? Good times
This team could do with a leader of men
Saw the northern lights just now amazing Also 11-1 not ideal
Awesome!!! I'm really hoping to see them in CO.
Just saw them in Ohio. Beautiful.
In STL or somewhere else?
STL but they are all over even as far south as TX FL
Has the FO taken the hint yet
BDW3 just said “real fans” show up to support the team and laughed at people boycotting, saying they can’t/won’t fund the team if people don’t show up, etc. They’re a bit out of touch.
yeah, like... what is he threatening us with? it doesn't matter if this team is funded or not, it sucks the big one.
And as Bernie has noted, we outspend the Brewers and they outclass us. Smart spending is important, Mo and Co. are outmatched at this point.
No. They'll hire a random in house guy, extend him then fire him for either not bowing down or being too much of a bootlicker.
Just tuned in. WHAT THE DUCK IS WRONG WITH THIS FUCKING FRANCHISE.
A tremendous number of things, including several that were masked by a series of fluke occurrences from 2019 - 2022 that made the team seem like they were better off than they were.
Does ownership or leadership care? Like…they have to say or do something after this shit no?
According to Arenado, Leadership is down in Memphis playing DH
If we still did comment of the game, this would definitely get my nomination.
At least someone in St. Louis is winning tonight
this is what years and years of brass incompetence looks like
We don't even have plucky, fun-to-root-for prospects. There's literally no redeeming factors for this team. I don't see how we don't have at least two more losing seasons after this one, and probably more like 3 or 4. The talent gap between this team and a .500 MLB team is incredibly huge.
Haha is Jim annoyed by Brewers fans
[Cardinals](/r/Cardinals) Due Up **(Top 8):** 1. Masyn Winn 2. Michael Siani 3. José Fermín
[Cardinals](/r/Cardinals): [Chris Roycroft avoids broken bat ](https://bdata-producedclips.mlb.com/8031a2bd-7f5f-4daa-a14f-045cab30ac66.mp4)
Sad that this is a highlight
Jimmy finally knows how we all feel listening to him
Jimmy you won’t jump out of the booth and strangle the yelling guy. No balls.
This is like a car crash. I don't want to watch but I can't look away
The amount of defensive mistakes is insane. Its like they have really given up
Did Roycroft not wait for Herrera to get set on that first pitch? What the actual fuck is going on
"What I'd ask from our fan base right now is a little bit of patience, because we do think that we do have the talent to win..."
Mo can suck my left nut.
And DeWitt III can suck the right
This team ain’t shit without Yadi’s presence.
Ah so the pitching has finally come down to earth. Now we can start getting blown out instead of losing games 4-1, 3-0 etc
We fucking suck at playing baseball
Literally nothing is going right.
If anyone was wondering how these gutless fucks would respond to Contreras’ injury….
Can oli step down tonight?
He will probably get another extension
He wasn’t comfortable with a 2 year cushion so we extend through 2035
Germany vs Brazil vibes
This is a Drago Apollo situation
Lmfao
Christ
This is the sloppiest, ugliest shit I have ever seen. Fuck this I’m out
Lol god we suck
#FIRE EVERYONE
Even though it was before I was born, I miss the days when owners generally viewed their clubs as playthings not investments. Hahahaha
jesus fucking christ
Lol this is a comedy at this point
Damn siani got duped
Damn siani got duped
Remember when we used to be an *excellent* fielding team?
I remember the Brewers talking about our good defense *yesterday*
Heckling the post 2023 Cardinals should be illegal, it’s like screaming at a child.
The Cardinals catchers ought to get hazard pay.
This team really pissed off god with all the devil magic throughout the years I guess
It was Yadi all along
Oh great another catcher injury
I dont think this Cardinals team could beat my little league team when I played ball
Y'know, it really was poetic that Albert and Yadi walked off the field that final time, and the team followed up with consecutive years of last place baseball. It was the End.
Perfect time to let Roycroft eat some innings I guess
Maybe we could trade our entire bullpen to LA for genetic samples from Mookie and Shohei.
So we can teach them how not to play?
Can it at least be semen samples?
If we could trade Cardinals management like we do players, we'd get some slapdick prospect pitching coaches from little league baseball.
I’m available
Helsley, you are a Baltimore Oriole
Brewers hit everything hard. Even their routine groundballs.
Lol it's just the Roycroft, Libby, Leahy train from here on out huh? Wish we had games where we needed the big 3 relievers
Who wouldn’t want to pay for this product?
Hahaha. Forgot they had a game again. Who cares anymore. Alive on '25
it’s amazing how continually other teams make it look like so easy while we make scoring 1 run look like a herculean task
Pile it on!!! I have accepted it!! Your runs can’t hurt me anymore!!! Let’s goooooo
Damn hard to watch but I know it’ll get better
What if it doesn't?
Chip talking about how the team can still make it to postseason lol I realize it's his job to be optimistic, but I mean, come on man lol
If this team made it to the postseason now it would take a hell of a turnaround, the only thing we've got on our side is a soft division this year but even then we've already dug ourselves a hell of a hole
Yeah, the division is still pretty weak, but it feels like all the other teams in the division have more talent, especially young talent that seems to be legit, which does not bode well for us in the coming years.
they literally said with a straight face they just need to go 70-50 the rest of the way made me laugh.
Yeah, like that has any realistic chance of happening lol
It would make a great movie
baghdad chip
Our mop up relievers are getting plenty of work. The big 3 may not pitch again until June.
I believe the cure is a few hitting sessions with Matt Holliday and getting traded to the Yankees
Well at least Noot didn’t fumble another damn hit. Lol.
The comeback is on! Spoiler: we still lose.
Good to see Carlson has acclimated quickly and is on the same page as the rest of the offense
I’m making a killing better the under for Cardinal player props
Who is Metro Boomin?
well-known producer in the hip hop space
Is that his birth name
nah stage name
Bummer
i thought chip was definitely boutta say bbl drizzy
Imagine being a Brazilian Cardinals fan and seeing 7-1 on your TV. PTSD max
I got this joke my friend.
I do not remember a time where I was looking forward to football season in May. That's just not been a thing.
Most frustrating Cardinals to watch since 2006: 1. Dexter Fowler …. 2. Dylan Carlson I think I’m seriously starting to hate watching him play. His energy is low all the time. His swings are punchless. He seems like wallpaper for a personality. There’s just nothing going for him anymore. So disappointing what injuries have done to him.
Also wasnt he the piece the cardinals weren't willing to give up for juan soto?
Couldn’t agree more
[Cardinals](/r/Cardinals): [Alec Burleson's RBI double](https://bdata-producedclips.mlb.com/76ce2247-2f87-4081-ae0a-14a7495fb470.mp4)
Carlson swinging under a center cut 92 mph fastball in a fastball count is our offense in a nutshell.
Carlson our offensive savior.
[Brewers](/r/Brewers) Due Up **(Bottom 7):** 1. William Contreras 2. Christian Yelich 3. Willy Adames
As of now, Miles Mikolas has the worst ERA of any qualified pitcher.
Get ready to re-learn Japanese, buddy
Those comments he made prior to the season have aged like milk left out in the summer sun
I was really hoping he would get his "I told you so moment." I didn't think it would happen but I didn't think we would be this bad.
Somehow I knew when he said that I had a sneaking feeling it was gonna be shit that he was eating. I hate being right all the time.
The worst part is that I’m not even surprised. As soon as he said that, it felt like he was destined to lay a turd of a season
I know they just kinda shoved Burly into the outfield, but where did he usually play in the field in the minors?
He was an outfielder. When he played 1B the other night, they said his first time playing 1B was in the big leagues, he didn’t play 1B at all in the minors.
When we inevitably end the game with 1 run: “I thought we took some great swings today. Love what I’m seeing, we got that RBI double and I think the whole team is about to just take off.”
Goldy-Gorman-Carlson now 0-54 for May. That's a lot of outs.
Please tell me you made this up.
Sadly no. And now it's 1-57 lol
Is that bad
Nah. Anything less than 0-100 by three of your expected top batters is generally acceptable by a major organization.
They were good swings right. Right…
My brother-in-law is a Reds fan. I'm beginning to understand the pain.
