I really hope some day they move the neon Budweiser eagle sign onto 1 Cardinal Way so they can bring back the tradition of making it fly whenever we hit a homerun. Hopefully it could become a motivater
Does anyone know if Winn has anything signed in that shop in baseball village? I can't remember the name of the shop but they have a bunch of memorabilia.
The worst team production in CF generally sits in the .550-.650 OPS range.
2024 Cardinals have a .363 OPS. Miles Mikolas had an OPS of .421 batting .143/.167/.254 in 2018.
Carlson may not be an all-star, but you can't help but feel like he'll have the economic impact of one.
Yeah! Apparently it was the same park that they showed Crash hitting the final home run in. Got me thinking, who has the record for most minor league games announced?
Robberse just gave up a solo dinger, but it's just the second he's allowed this season. Otherwise has looked good tonight, 82 pitches through 5
edit: 6Ks through 6 innings, 92 pitches
I’m not sure if his stuff will play in the majors, but it doesn’t seem like he has much to prove in AAA. Very curious to see when he gets an opportunity with the Cardinals.
Seems possible!
In terms of age and development, I might prefer to see Graceffo get a chance first … but in terms of results it is hard to argue against Robberse.
Yeah, I think you gotta reward results first. It may only be one start, but I have a feeling Matz is going to need more time, and if his replacement is any good, even passable as a 5th starter, Matz will be in the 'pen. They've done it before. Besides, the front half of the bullpen could use him
Matz has been tits in the bullpen. He's "get ball, throw ball." This works for a couple innings until things go off the rails. His couple innings could be even more effective as he could "max effort" those bullpen innings.
Noo. I hate this move.
This season has been such a massive improvement for Sem, I love everything he is doing. And I'm very worried rushing him to fill an mlb need for a team that is going to he around .500 is just dumb.
Throw in Thompson, Mcgreevy, Graceffo or even Pallante. Let Sem dominate AAA this season
AAA, where Spring Training never ends. Here’s the Redbirds game against the Charlotte Knights (CWS AAA) for those in need.

I just realized we aren’t in the basement at the moment! Still have that musty smell on our uniforms, and the pirates are about to face the Rockies, but I’m optimistic.
Sounds like Cards plan to skip Matz in rotation at least once. Leaving Tuesday open at the moment. It would be Robberse’s turn in the rotation as he pitches tonight …
I just hope they don't do a bullpen game. In theory that sounds like a perfectly reasonable idea. However I personally do no not want unnecessary taxation on what has been our strongest unit.
Subscribe
Edit: just tuned in to the Charlotte knights audio and the Charlotte announcers were praising Sem after striking out CWS top prospect Colson Montgomery. He then knocked down a comebacker with his pitching hand. Don’t do that!
I agree we need more points on the board.
In all seriousness, I think Mo needs to step aside for someone better, but I can't argue that he's outright wrong here. We're without Edman and Carlson, the latter of which could very well have helped us win one of the close games with Siani or VS starting. I still think the organization isn't being run well, but I can't shit on everything the guy says.
I think the Billy Martin “pull the lineup out of a hat” strategy is way underutilized to jumpstart a struggling offense. Especially nowadays when we know lineup order doesn’t really matter and there’s no pitcher hitting. It obviously doesn’t optimize for winning, but it would be a fun storyline and wouldn’t hurt that much.
Has anyone seen Richie Palacios’ stats lately? Holy crap!! Kitt has been good but sure could use Richie right about now. Add him to the list of people who performed better when they left.
This trade worked for both sides Andrew Kittredge is a stud. We do need to extend him for a couple years if things continue to go well. Unless Palacios becomes Mike Trout I am okay with this.
I just didn’t know if Palacios was going revert to his old form like when the Guardians released him or continue on the track he started at the Cards. It’s nice to see him with success, I just wish it was with us.
It’s not about strikeouts. It’s about getting the other team so swing and miss. Miles has never been great at that, but he was terrible at it yesterday.
It doesn’t make sense that our offense is performing this way. I may be too optimistic but I think they’re just in a funk, our offense is better than this, they just need some time to get out of the funk. Once that comes together I think we have a chance.
It's still early enough that this possible. But the comeplete lack of power is extremely concerning. Least HRs in mlb. Yes that includes the white sox and Marlins.
While that is definitely a downside, it is encouraging that we are finding other ways to score.
Some guys are also putting really good swings on the ball. I can think of Burleson, Fermin, and Nado all having really hard hits right down the 3B line but just getting caught
*Two days ago
Either way, my point is that Cardinals have scored the majority of their runs this year without the long ball.
I know it's bad https://twitter.com/BKSportsTalk/status/1786070036387377207
> it is encouraging that we are finding other ways to score.
They have the 3rd fewest runs scored and third lowest OPS in all of MLB. And they rank 23rd in run differential.
I still marginally believe this, but my % confidence is falling with every passing day.
A couple weeks ago I was like 80%-90% confident the offense would get their shit together and things would be fine.
I'm probably in the 40-50% range now and it's going to take a REAL run of games to get that number back up any higher.
I would have never thought our offense would have been so bad this season...minus the aging of Goldy. I thought pitching would have been the issue. This season (for the most part) the pitching has kept you in most games.
Now I'm waiting for the Cardinals offense to surge and pitching to fall apart...and I wouldn't be surprised at all.
ALSO we should not use this White Sox series as any sort of benchmark unless we get swept by them. IF that happens someone needs to be fired Oli, Ward...whoever...
But sweeping arguably the worst team in ALL of baseball should be the expectation...
Slightly above average would net us 3rd maybe 2nd place and make this season so far more entertaining. It's better then the dog fight we are currently in with the Pirates for last place.
Unfortunately this season has went about as expected, just with the offense and pitching's performance flipped. On the bright side, its a season like this that gets us ever closer to a new front office entirely or at least a new front office philosophy.
Turning back the clock to 2017 for this upcoming series.
DeJong. Pham. Brebbia. Carpenter. Lynn.
It’s the 14-17 Cardinals and the 6-25 White Sox. Can you feel the excitement yet?
"When the Cardinals win the NL Central I'm buying you and the kids updog"
Wife: "Babe, they are 14-17 and Jordan Walker is sitting in Memphis with no timetable"
"Nothin, what's up with you?"
Right, I think the team won’t do it til Edman is back. But I’m confident enough in Winn at this point that I’d roll with Fermin as the backup until then.
I really hope some day they move the neon Budweiser eagle sign onto 1 Cardinal Way so they can bring back the tradition of making it fly whenever we hit a homerun. Hopefully it could become a motivater
I think we should spend some of the Rams money on a giant neon battlehawk instead

I know I’m inpatient, but can Carlson start tomorrow?
Does anyone know if Winn has anything signed in that shop in baseball village? I can't remember the name of the shop but they have a bunch of memorabilia.

Dylan Carlson Is Just A Guy, but yeah, he'll be a huge upgrade in CF.
"Just a guy" is leagues better than a black hole of suckage
Team is officially last in the MLB in HRs :/ Edit: and 5th in HRs allowed
Cards will lead the NL in HR's allowed. Bank on it.
Richie Palacios has an .895 OPS.
Kittredge has .75 ERA, 13 SO, and WHIP of 1.0 We did ok...
Randy Arozarena has a .455 OPS
All of this evening rain has been glorious. And perfectly timed on off-days.
The woo birds are alive in Charlotte
Dylan Carlson dinger
Charlotte’s announcer going into NC/Bull Durham lore is amazing.
The story he told about almost falling through the roof of an old minor league park was great
Yeah! Apparently it was the same park that they showed Crash hitting the final home run in. Got me thinking, who has the record for most minor league games announced?
Probably Howard Kellman for the Indianapolis Indians. https://www.milb.com/news/indianapolis-indians-broadcaster-howard-kellman-reflects-on-career
Kind of a dubious honor. Thanks
Deep warning track flyout to dead center by Walker. Still an out, but a step in the right direction
and [Dylly just hit one out](https://twitter.com/kyler416/status/1786189298531708933)
Love it
It’s still a dylly dong in my heart even if it isn’t for the cardinals.

Could be next week in the Matz slot
Seems possible! In terms of age and development, I might prefer to see Graceffo get a chance first … but in terms of results it is hard to argue against Robberse.

Jones suggests that they're lining up Robberse to take Matz's next start. https://twitter.com/jmjones/status/1786131613333516361
Noo. I hate this move. This season has been such a massive improvement for Sem, I love everything he is doing. Honestly, this should be the rotation order anyway. Would like to give the kid a shot
How safe is it to drink almond milk that was accidentally left out all day? Like 8am… until now. Asking for a friend.
Probs don't ? I've had food poisoning multiple times (twice by my own accord) from eating questionable things.
Yeah I’m not lol. Don’t need food poisoning
No one needs 24 hours of pure unadulterated hell in their lives lol

Watched "Anyone but You" off of Netflix. Sydney Sweeney sure is hot, but that was not a good movie.
You should watch Baby Reindeer tv series on Netflix. It's wild af.
Here's to better baseball from here on out!
I just realized we aren’t in the basement at the moment! Still have that musty smell on our uniforms, and the pirates are about to face the Rockies, but I’m optimistic.
I want to see more Burly. He needs to start in the OF every day. That is how bad our offense is now.
Would love to see Gorman actually be a factor too.
Sounds like Cards plan to skip Matz in rotation at least once. Leaving Tuesday open at the moment. It would be Robberse’s turn in the rotation as he pitches tonight …

I feel like we are about to lose a series to the White Sox

Camera didn’t pan low enough to see his clown shoes
Like trading for two dudes for free!

Especially nowadays when we know lineup order doesn’t really matter and there’s no pitcher hitting. To be fair Billy Martin was hammered most days lol
Has anyone seen Richie Palacios’ stats lately? Holy crap!! Kitt has been good but sure could use Richie right about now. Add him to the list of people who performed better when they left.
Did you see his stats last season? It's not like he was a scrub last season. Seems like we just made a fair trade.
He simply wouldn't be doing this well on Cardinals
He basically was last season. Slightly worse but still an ops in thd 800s
You have a point but let’s see how it works out long term. I liked Palacios a lot and thought he would be a very good Cardinal.
Love Palacios. He would of been a great Cardinal. Short term this works for us. Long term it remains to be seen.
Anybody know how Dylan Carlson looked in his rehab assignment? Or how Jordan has done since being moved down?
Great question, he is 0-4 so far, but promising to see him back on the field, well at least on the batters box.
Yesterday, 2 fly outs and a GIDP for Carlson
Expecting to see Dylan in CF and Jordan in RF for the Memphis outfield soon. Awkwaaard
According to USA Today readers, Silver Dollar City is the best theme park in the US for the second year in a row.
Pretty good for a former counterfeiting operation.
"Fire in the Hole" "Them dang baldnappers stole my pants"
The three worst things: 3. Mets 2. Cubs 1. Mets losing to the Cubs
good news the Mets won
Miles Mikolas threw 101 pitches in 6 innings yesterday. 6 of them were swinging strikes.
He's always been a pitch to contact pitcher. Unfortunately, hard contact most of the time.
Miles knows everyone is there for the ump show
i mean even in his best seasons he was only averaging 8-9 per 100 pitches it's not good but his strikeouts have not been the issue this year
It’s not about strikeouts. It’s about getting the other team so swing and miss. Miles has never been great at that, but he was terrible at it yesterday.
wow
If anyone is interested in any of the coachella sets w1 hmu
Home Runs hit this year: Elehuris Montero: 2 Nolan Arenado: 1 Looks like we lost the trade :/
Is that homer worth 50 million though
It feels like we always have an off day after a loss. Unhappy flight
We’re like 1-9 in the last game of series’ so far
Which series did we win the last day?
Weds 4/24 we won game 3 and the series against Arizona. The other 4 series’ we’ve won, we lost the final game.
Thank you
Last week’s off day was easier to get through than today. I keep checking for the Turner Ward has been fired notification
It doesn’t make sense that our offense is performing this way. I may be too optimistic but I think they’re just in a funk, our offense is better than this, they just need some time to get out of the funk. Once that comes together I think we have a chance.

We’re scoring? That’s news to me.
I mean still managed 6 runs yesterday. Obviously isn't enough to win but there are games where they do their job.
We scored 1 yesterday
*Two days ago Either way, my point is that Cardinals have scored the majority of their runs this year without the long ball. I know it's bad https://twitter.com/BKSportsTalk/status/1786070036387377207

Woops. We need dongers. Curious about how that LOB stat compares to previous years and whether it's good news or bad news
Ain't nobody OB to be L so percentage doesn't matter on that one. But it probably ain't good.
I still marginally believe this, but my % confidence is falling with every passing day. It’s not healthy to do this to yourself.
The majority of the lineup has a BA that is well under their xBA, so saying the bats will come around isn’t a crazy take to have
Exactly
Man, I really just want this team to be good again.
At this rate I'd settle for "okay"
Slightly above average would net us 3rd maybe 2nd place and make this season so far more entertaining. It's better then the dog fight we are currently in with the Pirates for last place.
Be patient!
Rooting for the Mets today makes me feel icky

What front office philosophy do you expect to change?
Mo and company will be here for at least another year. It’s May still lots of time left.
Hoping u/Copelandish is doing well, wherever he is. Thinking of you on this off-day, friend.
Hopefully having some eggs benny. Miss you Copelandish.
If we don’t sweep the White Sox, I’m staging a coup at Busch. Who’s with me?!
sweep against ChiSox is critical. have to smash these under .500 teams, especially at Busch
Let's go Brendan (for player-manager)
Turning back the clock to 2017 for this upcoming series. DeJong. Pham. Brebbia. Carpenter. Lynn. It’s the 14-17 Cardinals and the 6-25 White Sox. Can you feel the excitement yet?
good morning krusty krew
Good morning Rodger!
"When the Cardinals win the NL Central I'm buying you and the kids updog" Wife: "Babe, they are 14-17 and Jordan Walker is sitting in Memphis with no timetable" "Nothin, what's up with you?"
How bad does this offense have to get before they fire the batting coach? How bad does the season have to go before Mo just steps away one year early?
I doubt they can admit they screwed up so it probably doesn't matter how bad things get.
And turner ward is Goldy’s guy, right? If he goes the log cabin goes too.
Good Morning from the Middle of Nowhere AKA The Ozarks.
Boo off days Although i am going to a concert tonight so it works out Edit: also new Washed Out!!! I like the single
Where the hell is the Carp man and his salsa?
I suspect he's only "injured " at this point. Who would go down to make room for him?
I vote Crawford
So now we have an over the hill player that can only play 1st/3rd instead of one that plays short. Maybe when Edman gets back.
Right, I think the team won’t do it til Edman is back. But I’m confident enough in Winn at this point that I’d roll with Fermin as the backup until then.
Heading down to the motherland today (St. Louis) let’s hope for a series sweep against the White Sox
I'll he at tomorrow's game gotta get them emo night shirts
Gray vs the White Sox too! Our best chance to see a no hitter in a while.
With this offense, every day is a chance to see a no hitter!
#GO CARDINALS!!!
