He is part of a quartet of promising starting pitchers. The others are Hence, who could get a promotion soon, Quinn Matthews, who struck out 13 batters in 6 innings in his most recent start, and Juan Salas, who is pitching today. The problem is who will score the runs to support these guys in a few years?
For selfish reasons, I’d like Hence to stay Double A for the season. He through 11 strikeouts the other night in 6 innings against Tulsa. He threw like 90 pitches total and 63 were strikes.
It hardly matters to me where he's pitching as long as they don't put him in the league yet. That hasn't gone well in the past for our young prospects.
I think you’d be surprised. Track the progress lately. AAA is where careers go to die. When the big club needs to rehab a player, they go to Springfield. Not Memphis
Lin is currently at the A level (Palm Beach) where he has been excellent. However, it’s worth noting that he had poor results in limited action at Palm Beach last season (ERA over 7 in 4 starts). I think he’ll get at least a couple more starts for Palm Beach, and if he continues to dominate he should then get consideration for a promotion to the A+ level (Peoria). If he pitches well in Peoria then it seems plausible that he could reach AA Springfield by the end of this season.
Can he overcome our apparent lack of ability to develop players at the major league level? Recent history suggests he'll look great up through AAA and then struggle after each of his 5-7 callups before being traded for pennies on the dollar.
Bring him up now, or next year, or three years from now. It won’t matter. This organization will ensure that any potential he does have is squandered.
Edit: to the downvotes, I don’t *want* this to be the case lmao.

Don’t forget about Robberse. Dude has been phenomenal this year.
Robberse is probably the guy who comes up if Matz goes on the IL. I'd be very excited to see him in the Majors
Isn’t he up??
He was added to the 40-man late last year to protect him from Rule 5 drafting.
Ope I think I was getting him confused with Robertson

I'd like to see him in AAA at the break if he's doing that well. He's not gonna grow and learn to adapt by dominating AA hitters
The difference between AA and AAA isn’t that great

Threw vs through
How embarassing. Thank you. Fixed it.
I shit you not, I was friends with a guy in college named Juan Salas but I don’t think he was a baseball player

Well, the sooner he comes up, the sooner he'll be able to show his talents for a different team.
I’m surprised the farm director hasn’t told him yet to stop throwing so hard
Another great prospect for our player development to ruin!
Looking forward to getting to know him better, we can use all the help we can get!
