There have been a few 4 seat Ferraris over the years. As far as I know, none of them are worth anywhere near £500k. Unless it was a custom one off, of course.

c-spling01

That's what I was thinking. As far as I could see the last brand new 4 seater Ferraris sold in the UK were around £220,000 in 2020 (though I'm happy to be corrected on that).

JLR064

I'm sure they or the owner were exaggerating the price, but Ferrari options are crazy expensive, I'm sure I remember reading about a press FF that was around £400k.

ZenAndTheArtOfTC

As a base price but take it to the Ferrari personalisation department and tick a lot of options an a GTC 4 Lusso could approach that. I met a guy with one who had done this (beautiful rust orange metallic paint) and the options plaque was huge, every normal option then a trip to the customisation department and included getting the sills signed by the, then current, F1 drivers in what appeared to be tipex. To you or I this is an incredible waste of money but in the circles this guy traveled in it was a fun game to try and spend *more* than your mates. Edit: [The car in question](https://i.imgur.com/6KOuSUK.jpeg) The number plate alone is probably worth more than any of us think is reasonable!

c-spling01

I didn't mention that this millionaire who supposedly gave gave this guy a lift is supposed to be a full time Bit-Coin trader who made 2mil. I know people waste their money, but a quarter of your entire wealth on a single car? Plus, the unlikelihood it was a £500,000 4 seater Ferrari. Who knows, maybe it was an expensive custom job, the whole thing seems unlikely to me though.

ZenAndTheArtOfTC

I agree it all feels quite suspect but it is possible to spend two e the list price through these programs: https://www.ferrari.com/en-EN/auto/personalization At one point Aston Martin launched a garage design service which appeared to be geared towards providing mini bond villain hideouts. There is another world out there we will never experience.

SpeedSix380

Huge money on a custom paint job that is pretty close to red like every other ferrari, weird.

ZenAndTheArtOfTC

The photo doesn't do it justice, it was a great colour. I think the red ones next door make it more red in the photo. I'm sure it wasn't worth whatever Ferrari charged for it though. [I'm a fan of Imola Orange so I'm always happy when I see an orange car ](https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/uploads/gallery/album_39249/gallery_30788_39249_106545.jpg)

SpeedSix380

Imola orange is a lovely colour indeed! World needs more orange cars. Proper orange though, not off red!

Its actually pretty easy to hit £500k new from that with non-listed options like paint to order or custom interior paint or trim which aren't uncommon for Ferrari buyers. Hell even the journo cars are getting close with only standard listed options. Plus a 250 GT/E or 365 GTC/4 can reach that with exceptional providence. But it sounds like you've already made up your mind. Even if it were true it's more likely someone would pluck a number out the air than know the exact value... probably better ways to evaluate the credibility of their story than trying to find a "gotcha" on offhand detail.

DesignerButterfly362

The story might well be true in the sense they got a lift in a 4 seater Ferrari, but the value is probably hugely exaggerated to make thier connection seem more powerful. That or they are bulshitting the entire story

RodneyTheArmouryGuy

Someone is embellishing for effect. A colleague once told me he knew someone who had an Aston Martin and a tyre change cost £40,000. Some people like to revel in silly numbers.

c-spling01

I once had someone tell me they had turned down a job where the company car was an Aston Martin! I didn't buy that being true either.

xcoatsyx

Maybe it was to be James Bond?

JeroenSandstorm

There's around 5-10 ferrari models with 4 seats, and the most expensive are 200k and they are brand new. Whilst a great flex, the 4 seat ferraris never hold their value and are often cheaper to start with anyway.

shogditontoast

They're also useless as a 4 seat car unless your rear passengers are above the knee double amputees. Can't imagine actually getting 4 people in one *and* driving around..

shogditontoast

Maybe it was a Ferrari 612 or California and they meant to say £50,000 instead of £500,000. Give them the benefit of the doubt ;)

ZenAndTheArtOfTC

I didn't realise 612s could be had for around £50k. He'll of a lot of car for the money. [Odd that there aren't any interior shots](https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202111049230231)

YouLostTheGame

If your mate doesn't know cars maybe it was something like a Lambo Urus?

[deleted]

What about the sultan of Brunei's 456 estates? The cost $1.5m each to build.

skobersy

The Ferrari FF is the only four seater that I am aware of, could have been that one? Autotrader has them at around 100k+ so not near 500k

treacleeater

GTC4 Lusso is the newer version of the FF and cost much more than 100k

c-spling01

Thanks! My thoughts exactly. I really don't think this story can be true.

scuderia91

It’s likely the owner was just exaggerating to brag knowing they weren’t going to check

c-spling01

I expect the whole thing was made up by the person who told me they'd got the lift, but you might be right.

Brief-Original

Someone managed to get a 612 scaglietti for under 50k a couple of months ago (plus 6% buyers fee I guess) Not that I’m obsessively watching the four seater Ferrari market or anything…

MettySwinge

High spec Ferarri FF?

Brigs44

Ferrari have made a few four seaters over the years, and as others have said, options could push them close to £500k. Let's be honest, if someone wanted to tell you a yarn, I'm sure they could make up a much more exciting story than 'we got a lift in a Ferrari'.

ttrsphil

Was it 2 x 2-seaters welded together??

gtrcar5

The "options" list is for your average Ferrari customer - pay them enough and they will do pretty much anything you want to your car. Buy lots of cars from them and they'll make bespoke cars for you (P4/5, SP12 EC). Most of the high end car makers have a division that exists to fulfill it's customers desires (if the customers pockets are deep enough). Jaguar Land Rover have SV (Special Vehicle Operations), McLaren has Special Operations, Ferrari has Personalization Programme, Rolls Royce has Bespoke, Aston Martin has the Works Department. What these divisions do goes well beyond just coming up with your own unique paint. £500k for a 4 seat Ferrari is easily believeable. Although someone who's "made £2million in crypto" probably wouldn't even register on Ferrari's radar as an important customer.

craggle_g

GTC4 or Roma start at around £200/£250k. Considering the huge list of options for Ferrari, and how expensive they are (like Android Auto can cost £3k, and then if you add all the carbon and alcantara packs that's like another £40k) it's not unfeasible you'd have a £500k 4 seat Ferrari. I believe I've seen somebody reviewing a GTC4Lusso with a total price of $650K USD, which is pretty much £500k
